Is there a real point to this journal? Not really. Mainly I just want to have a journal newer than last July. So let's see what I can come up with to fill up this entry.
Hm... animals we would like to be drawn as...
Skunks, nidorans, and maybe even otters. Because otters are cute and playful and so are we. ^_^
Also, it'd be cool to be taurs. Taurs are awesome. I don't care if they make no sense. =P

Oh, it's worth noting that I finally took advantage of that "folders" feature that FA added. Art of me and Dray are conveniently separated into kid pictures and grownup pictures. And then in a separate folder is art done by ourselves. Which isn't very much, actually. I kinda want to attempt to get back into drawing, again. Got an image in mind of me and Dray having a snowball fight. Will I actually attempt to draw that? Probably not. Confidence issues and that sort of thing.
Speaking of art, was trying to hunt down freebies, again. Amazing how many people have a requirement that you must watch them, first. I instantly ignore those. How many people watching you are watching you simply because they had to in order to get free art? Your fanbase is fake! Actually, though, I'm tempted to play along with it. Watch them to get free art, and then unwatch them after free art happens. Seems mean, but hey, that's all you wanted me to watch you for was to get free art, right?
And finally, you should all go check out [Dray's Youtube channel], because he does video game streams. He's not great at them, but he's kinda interesting to watch. Does a lot of RPG Maker and Game Boy.

First off, so much for plugging in my tablet. I think I tried to use it, only to realize that I was so out of practice (and I didn't have much practice to begin with) that I didn't bother actually drawing anything.
Also, it's pretty clear we haven't gotten art of us in a while. That's mainly because our fursonas have been a little unstable. Obviously you've seen from our "recent" submissions that me and Dray tried to become dragon-skunk sisters. What you didn't see was that we also tried to become raccoon-dragon-skunk sisters, which had the CUTEST design. Then Dray decided he wanted to be a boy when he was a kid but not as a grownup. Then Dray decided to go back to normal. And now I'm back to normal, too. Us 'coons gotta represent!
Really wish we had gotten art of us as raccoon-dragon-skunks. But because we didn't have references of our new selves, we never did. Oh well, now that we're back to normal, might as well use [our usual reference].
Actually, we do need a new reference sheet. The old one is cute, but me and Dray have settled on specific outfits we like to wear (and more importantly, Dray now goes pantsless 24/7), so we'd like something to represent our current sense of style. We also definately need a new grownup ref sheet, as the old one has Dray as a guy, and like I said, he don't want to be a guy no more. The problem will be finding someone who is willing to draw a big ref for us at an affordable price. I suppose I could draw one myself, but...

I really want to get back into drawing. Like really really. But here's the problem: I hate drawing.
I grew sick of drawing a long time ago, thanks partly because people were telling me that the way I drew was the wrong way, and partly because no matter how hard I tried, my art went mostly ignored. It just wasn't worth the effort.
A year ago, I tried to get back into arting, even going so far as to host a couple of streams. But it was so hard just to get myself to put the pencil to the paper, I gave up. Which doubly sucks, because I had recently been gifted a tablet, after promising that I would use it to get back into arting.
The reason why I want to draw is because I have so many ideas I'd like to put on paper. Like right now me and Dray are experimenting with being skunk sisters, and I'd like to draw that. I'd also like to draw us as a couple pokemon. And we have a character that we adopted a long time ago, and this character is supposed to be our caretaker at the orphanage, and I'd like to draw her doing her job at being a caretaker. And I'd also like to do some fan art of furs we know on Second Life and people we like here.
Yeah, there's always freebies. But while freebies are nice, they can only go so far. A lot of times, we're limited in what we can request. Heck, it's a rare occurrance if we're able to get the both of us in the same picture. Commissions would be a good way to really get what whe want, but we can't afford to get those right now.
So I need to get back into arting so I can draw this stuff, myself. But how can I get back into arting when it makes me uncomfortable to try?

Confidence tips for Erika?
Posted 11 years agoSo there's this thing on FA for a big conbadge exchange, where you are assigned a random person to make a badge for while another random person makes a badge for you. It sounded like a neat idea, so I signed up for it. It's a monthly thing, and I had all of February to make a badge for someone. Shouldn't be a difficult task, right?
Well, it was. I totally lack confidence in my art and am totally self-concious about it, and spent the entire month wanting to get the badge done, but unable to get myself to sit down and make it. Today's the last day to get it in, and I'm still having trouble, even with the threat of being blacklisted from the service if I can't get it done on time. I'm feeling kinda sucky for it. I kinda wish I had someone at my side to give me the push I need to draw again, but I don't. Dray can't help 'cause we only see each other online.
Since personal help is a no-go, does anybody have any advice to boost my confidence? I only have the rest of the day. I was told I could be unbanned if I create the badge afterwards, but I'll still feel bad just for being on the blacklist a short time. If I'm able to get it done at all.

It's a Wacom Intuos Manga. I haven't opened it, yet. Hopefully it works good. Once I try it all out, I wanna see if I can get a stream going. Probably not until Monday, though. Busy weekend. Since we don't have very many watchers, I should probably plan on a good time to get as many as I can together. What times are good for you guys?

But we're not sure we want to go there, yet, since everyone we're interested in are still here and this site still has a lot more stuff to look at. If we did get an account here, we would also still use this account like normal. So what would be the advantage of having a Weasyl account?

While Dray and me have gotten several commissions from various people, most of our art is from freebie streams and the occasional rafffle. After all, we can't go spending money on art willy-nilly (or so says Draygone). Most of the time, I'm the one hunting these down. But there's a couple free art rules that have always bugged me.
One, there's the "post a journal about this" rule. This isn't really a big deal to me, but I figure I mention it anyway. When we first started this account, we actually made a bunch of journals advertising art raffles just for the sake of entering art raffles (most have been deleted after they ended). While the desire for free advertisement is definately understandable, we decided to stop entering those type of raffles for one simple reason: they clutter inboxes. We'll still do those occasionally, if the odds aren't lottery-level, but if there's a ton of people entering, it's not worth posting an advertisment journal for them.
(EDIT: And then FA declares that the "post a journal about this" rule is now against the rules. Woo, that opens up more raffles we'd be willing to enter!)
My biggest problem, though, is free art that requires you watch the person in order for them to be willing to draw for you. Not only are you watching them for the wrong reasons, but in the case of raffles, we'd be watching them just in the hopes that they might draw us, and if we don't win, we watched them for nothing. And it feels rude to unwatch them. But I'm sure a lot of people who enter this kind of raffle would have no qualms over un-watching someone because they didn't win art.
If we're gonna watch anybody, it's for one of two reasons: if we like their stuff, or if they drew something for us and we want to show our gratitude. That said, any raffles that require us to watch the person before we can ask for art, I'm certainly gonna ignore. Unless it's someone we're already watching, anyway. Then it's okay. =)

Erika's About To Draw - Gallery Separation
