Andrew Loomis
Posted 14 years agoI found some marvelous free drawing books online in PDF format by Andrew Loomis. They've been a marvelous read and will be a massive help while I learn. I'll most likely be using them in conjunction with the Burne Hogarth books I've been reading, too. It's interesting to notice the difference between Burne Hogarth and Andrew Loomis: Hogarth focuses on the more technical aspects of drawing, detailing the exact muscle and skeletal structure beneath the skin, while Loomis focuses on the basics, allowing continued practice and experience do the work for him.

Two things I've learned about drawing.
Posted 14 years agoThere are two things I've learned with what little drawing I've done. First: draw for yourself. If you're drawing to impress or just to make subject matter that you think others will like, you're going to hate drawing after a while. Draw what you like, and don't think about what others might think of it. Second: guidelines are not absolute. If I draw a circle for a head, the head is not necessarily made of the circle. The circle is just a representation of where the head is going to be located. Make modifications as necessary.
I might start posting soon, once I get more comfortable with this whole "drawing" business. And hopefully it'll be something that I don't find too embarrassing. XD!
