Surgery Fundraiser & Iron Artist Challenge
Posted 11 years agoLast week, I learned that I will need surgery in my lower abdomen to help relieve some of the pain that was caused by a serious horseback riding accident in 2012 when I broke both of my hips. (Ouch!) The estimated cost of surgery is $17,880, of which my insurance will pay 90%. I am responsible for the other 10%, or $1,788, out of pocket.
To help raise the funds necessary for my operation, I've decided to give the Iron Artist Challenge a go!
What is the Iron Artist Challenge?
By my understanding, the Iron Artist Challenge pushes artists to draw 100 images that fall within a specific set of criteria. The artist sets her own parameters for the project, anything from setting a time limit for each image, working on anatomy, or experimenting with a new technique.
What are your goals for the Iron Artist Challenge?
For me, the Iron Artist Challenge will focus on the use of dynamic poses and digital coloring, two areas where my art needs improvement. Although I've had my tablet for a rather long time, I've never been completely comfortable with using it to create a piece of artwork from start to finish. My goal is to become proficient enough with my tablet to to just that. I'm also hoping to work with limited color palettes to create a more believable setting and mood for each piece.
That said, I'm more than happy to use traditional media if the commissioner prefers.
The Tier System
While some artists prefer to work with a flat fee for their personal Iron Artist Challenges, I'm offering a tier-based system that allows you to choose the option that works best for you.
Tier I - $20 - Single Character Line Art
Add another character for $5.
Sketches will be full body, unless the composition is more interesting with a tighter crop.
Tier II - $40 - Single Character Flat Color
Add another character for $10.
These illustrations will be full body and may include one prop, depending on the composition.
Tier III - $60 - Single Character with Shading
Add another character for $15.
These illustrations will be full body and may include up to two props or a very simple background, depending on the composition.
A La Carte Items
+$5 for complicated props.
+$5 per character for complicated design elements - complex markings, wings, armor, etc.
+$5 per character for adult content.
Additional Information
- Iron Artist slots will be offered in batches of 10.
- As one batch nears completion, I will post a journal stating that the next batch is open for orders.

FWA 2013 Wrap Up!
Posted 12 years agoWhew, what a blast! Even though I am absolutely exhausted after four days in the Artists' Alley with only about fourteen hours of sleep, I have to say that this FWA was perhaps the best I've had in recent years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to those of you who stopped by to view my artwork and chat with me, and especially to those who purchased commissions:

and

I'll add the others when I discover their FA user names. Let's just say that this was the most productive year I've ever had! There are still a couple of take-home projects to work on and I'm excited to knock those out in the coming days.
Even though I worked really hard this year, I managed to carve out the time to see 2 the Ranting Gryphon's new show with Gold Fox and friends. Hilarious. How the hell have I not managed to see him perform before?! (Oh, right. I treat cons like a second job...)
Also, baby rats.
brought me the cutest, squirmiest little baby albino ratter that made me squeal with all kinds of happiness when I saw his teeny-tiny face! He's a little nervous around my bigger rat, Bunsen, so I've got him in a separate living arrangement right now. I'm confident that they'll learn to get along soon, but we're taking things slow right now.

Just one more week until FWA 2013! (Meme & Preorders)
Posted 12 years agoThere is still time to preorder your badges and other pieces before FWA 2013 next week. For more info, click here: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4262872/
Where are you staying?
Home. I live less than 10 miles from the con hotel, so why would I pay an obscene amount of money for a room? I'll already have to go home to feed the dogs.
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
I'll be with my fiendish consorts in the Artists' Alley.
Who will you be with?
My fiance',
Do you do free art?
No, I'm sorry.
Do you do trades?
If I have the time! Please feel free to ask, but don't be put off if I ask that the trade itself waits until after the con. I'm trying to take as much commissioned work as possible.
Do you do commissions?
Yes! I will be offering badges, sketchbook drawings, ATC/ACEO cards, and "quickie" commissions. If you would like a more complex piece of artwork, please feel free to commission me at the con, but be aware that it's very likely that it will not be completed over the weekend. I am accepting take-home commissions!
Do you have prints/ CDs?
No. I'm still trying to find a reputable printing source for my adult work.
What suits will you have?
None.
What is your gender?
Female.
How old are you?
25
How tall are you?
5’4"
Distinguishing physical features or accessories?
I'm short, curvy, and freckled with blue-green eyes. I've got medium-length, wavy auburn hair that is almost always worn brushed off to the right side in a pony tail, braid, or pin-up style "victory rolls". I practically live in blue jeans, Converse or flip-flops, and a zip-front hoodie. If I'm going to slave away in the Alley all day, I'm at least gonna be comfortable!
Can I talk to you?
Sure! I love to hold a good conversation. However, don't be put off if I'm working on commission and don't immediately respond. I tend to space out when I'm drawing or getting sleepy, so you might have to say my name ("Rhys," "Pony," and "Dreamy" all work) to catch my attention. PLEASE don't bump the table to get me to look up! D:
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
I'm not a big drinker, but I won't turn down an offer for a water or, if it's getting late, an energy drink.
Can I give you lots of money?
Yes! I'll be taking commissions in the Artists' Alley each day. Click https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4262872/ for more information about the commissions I'll be taking.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugging is fine. Snuggling is fine if you're a close friend of mine. Otherwise? Creepy!
Are you nice?
Most of the time, yes. I apologize in advance if it's late and I'm less attentive than usual.
Additional Info:
I will be able to take cash or credit card payments for commissions at the con. Please be aware that my TOS still applies. I will have a printed copy of it with me if you have any questions.

Oh, hey guys.
Posted 13 years agoI guess I fell off the bandwagon back there a ways. Whoops.
So much has happened since the last time we talked. I finally managed to save up enough money for a new computer to replace the dead laptop and all of the art software that I lost when it crashed, so I'm officially back in business. That means I can finally get to work on finishing a few digital projects I was working on before the kaput back in September. Hooray!
and I ended up adopting an adorable 6 month old Pembroke Welsh Corgi late in September, and he's been keeping us extremely busy. Housebreaking him was a bit of a challenge at first, seeing as he'd lived in a cage his entire life and hadn't learned not to use the potty in the same place where he sleeps, but he finally caught on. I've finally got him trained to walk politely on the leash and to do a number of basic commands. We're considering enrollment into obedience training or agility for him, since he loves the mental stimulation that comes with having a "job."
Our agouti hooded rat, Beaker, passed away earlier this month after about a week of very strange behavior. (He started attacking us when we'd reach into the cage and often fought with Bunsen throughout the night, forcing us to isolate him in the travel cage for the last few days he was with us.) Although I expected the loss to be difficult for my little lonely rattie, he seems to be flourishing without his cage-mate. While he was always affectionate, Bunsen has taken to being a frequent shoulder surfer and pocket pet. We're still not sure if we'll be purchasing another rat to keep Bunsen company, and we've just decided to play that by ear.
On a more personal level, I'm working on my last-ever semester of school! By this time next year, I'll be a fully licensed attorney and, hopefully, have a shiny new job to show for it. Plans for the wedding are coming along slowly, but I'm not really in a rush about any of that. My main focus right now is just getting through the semester and passing the bar exam.
Oh, and... FWA 2013 is swiftly approaching, which means I'll be putting up a journal about pre-orders soon. Last year was extremely successful for me in the Artists' Alley, and I'm hoping that this year will be much the same. Keep your eyes open for an announcement!

khabarhaka and I spent the last week busting our butts to move into a new apartment just outside of the Atlanta perimeter in Chamblee/Dunwoody, GA. Ours is a slightly older complex so there are a few very minor kinks to iron out, but we're loving the new place as a whole. The community is much quieter than the old place in Buckhead and we've got much nicer neighbors, so I think everything will work out just fine. There are still 4569834706 boxes sitting in the living/dining room area that need to be unpacked, my art supplies among them. It will probably take a few days to get everything in place, so the artwork might be slow going for a little bit, especially because my art desk broke on the way out of the old apartment and I don't currently have a place to put everything. (And, trust me, it's a LOT of stuff!) I am planning on digging out the ol' tablet and getting to work on some digital commissions, though.
Oh, and we managed to bring the ratties along with us without a hiccup! Sneaky, sneaky!
The doctor's bill is in... -faint-
Posted 13 years ago$5,281.95! YIKES!
That doesn't even include the ambulance ride or any follow-up visits. D:
I'm still waiting to find out what kind of assistance I'll be getting from the insurance program provided by my law school, but I'm not really holding my breath for any miracles. The good news is that I've been able to get back to work this week, so I can start making at least some money to put toward the expense. The bad news is that the money I make at my job, though sufficient under normal circumstances, doesn't really give me a whole lot of wiggle room. Story of my life.
Commissions are still open, as is my Paypal donation jar. Click here for more info: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3504155/

Terms Of Service (TOS) for Commissions
Posted 13 years agoBefore contacting the artist for a commission, you are presumed to have read this document and agreed to the policies described herein. By sending payment, you have expressed your consent to be bound by these terms.
These terms of service (TOS) are relevant only to noncommercial projects and may be revised or supplemented without prior notice. The policies set forth below have been influenced by customs employed in the usual course of dealing between artists and clients, as well as the "Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing & Ethical Guidelines".
Pricing Policies - Current Commission Pricing: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2226166/
- Base prices displayed are subject to change based on the complexity, size, and medium required for each piece.
- A preliminary price quote will be provided by the artist after visual reference(s)/detailed character description(s) and the general idea for the commission are provided by the potential client.
- Commissions priced $40 and under must be paid in full before work on the image will begin. Payment plans are available for any commission over $40. Please inquire.
- Clients using a payment plan will not receive the original commission or unwatermarked, high resolution digital image until the last payment has been received.
Sketch Approval, Critique, & Revisions
- An approval sketch will be provided for all inked and colored pieces. Clients are strongly encouraged to review the sketch as soon as possible and give detailed feedback about any changes that may be necessary. Two full revisions of the sketch will be provided free of charge (or the equivalent in small revisions), but any additional revisions will be done at a cost of $5 per sketch.
- Critique and red-line is encouraged during the sketch phase. However, the artist reserves the right to reject the critique or red-line, in whole or in part, to use her best judgment when considering critique in light of her artistic skill level and will make all reasonable attempts to preserve the integrity of the piece.
- After the sketch has been approved, the artist will begin inking and/or coloring as the commission requires. Revisions requested after inks have begun will be done at a rate of $8 per hour.
- The artist reserves the right to use any rejected sketches in future projects
Cancellation of Commissions
- The artist reserves the right to cancel the commission at any time due to poor communication, rude or inappropriate behavior, or pressing life circumstances (illness, serious injury, etc.).
- If no work has been done on the commission when the artist cancels, the client will receive a full refund.
- If the commission has been started when the artist cancels, the client will receive a refund less the value of the work done on the piece.
- If the client wishes to cancel the commission during the sketch phase, 50% of all monies paid will be refunded.
- No refund will be issued if the client requests cancellation during or after the coloring phase.
Commission Discussions
- All discussions about commissions must take place through the artist's email, dreamhorsestudiosart AT gmail DOT com, to ensure that all information is kept neatly in one place.
- Please have an idea for your commission in mind before contacting the artist. It is extremely frustrating to go through lengthy negotiations just to find out that a potential client was merely "kicking the tires" without any actual intent to purchase a commissioned piece.
Commission Updates
- The artist keeps a publicly accessible commission queue here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet.....mp;hl=en#gid=0
- The queue is updated in "real time" to keep all clients up-to-date with progress on their respective images.
- Additional updates may be made via e-mail or on the artist's Facebook Fan Page: http://www.facebook.com/DreamHorseStudios
- Commissions are not always done in chronological order. Larger commissions will naturally take longer to complete than less-involved projects, and several projects may be underway at the same time. This is to keep the artist "fresh" and engaged in her work, thereby ensuring the best possible product for each client.
The Finalized Commission
- The artist retains all rights to the completed image and any "work product" (sketches, revisions, etc.) related to the project, including the right to make prints and include the image in her portfolio.
- The artist reserves the right to publish the finished commission on any personal website, art gallery, or journal. She will gladly delay the public "reveal" of any piece intended as a gift at the client's request.
- The client does not have the right to make prints of his or her commission except for personal use (i.e. printing off a digital commission for display in a private dwelling), or to profit from the artwork in any way beyond the physical sale of an original traditional piece.
- The client is welcome to resize or crop the piece for use as an icon, wallpaper, or other digital graphic for non-commercial purposes on social networking sites, bulletin boards, and so forth, but may not alter the work in any other way.
- The client is encouraged to display a watermarked version of his or her finished piece in any online gallery of his or her choosing, but must give proper credit to the artist.
- If the client so desires, ownership of rights can be negotiated for an additional fee.

Bully Breed Reference Sheet Auction; Starting at $10!
Posted 13 years agohttp://www.furaffinity.net/view/7458386/
I sketched the above reference sheet up nearly 9 months ago for a commission that fell through (i.e. the commissioner isn't really interested in the fandom anymore and has been impossible to get in contact with for months). Instead of letting this character sheet sit in a pile of sketches forever, I'd much rather see it go to someone who might put it to good use.
The winner of this auction will be able to decide how the image is finished. Choose from:
* Traditional or Digital Coloring
* Character Design (Coat Pattern/Eye Color/Hair/etc.)
* Gender (Male/Female/Herm/Whatever)
* Breed (Although this character was originally designed as a Pit, it can easily be changed to a number of bully breeds to suit the auction-winner's preferences.)
* PG or X-rating
BIDDING:
* Bidding starts at $10 USD
* Minimum bid increment is $1 USD.
* Bids must be placed on the submission. Please do NOT place your bids in this journal!
* Auction ends 12:01 am EST on Friday, April 13, 2012.
* The winning bidder must pay via Amazon Payments or Paypal within 48 hours of the auction's close. Otherwise, the piece will be offered to the next highest bidder.

WE'RE ENGAGED!
Posted 13 years agoThursday, March 22, 2012, I got engaged to the love of my life and my very best friend,
khabarhaka. After a decade of friendship, I am absolutely ecstatic that we've decided to make ours an everlasting commitment.
My exceedingly beautiful engagement ring:

It's a blue-green sapphire set in white gold with diamond accents and I couldn't be more smitten!

FWA Wrap-Up
Posted 13 years agoThank you, thank you, thank you to my commissioners for making this FWA the best one I've ever had! I got a total of 31 (HOLY CRAP, GUYS!) commissions over the course of the weekend and was able to complete all but five of them at the convention. To those who are on my "homework list," rest assured that I'll get to work on your pieces tomorrow. My arm really needed the break after 9 hours of drawing on Friday, 16 hours on Saturday, and another 7 on Sunday. Whew!
I didn't get to do much of anything other than artwork (I didn't even make it into the Dealer's Den to see the wares) but that's okay. I still got to meet so many fantastic people who were so supportive and kind about my artwork. You guys totally made my weekend!
Much love to

and many, many more! I'd name each and every one of you, but FA has an icon limit and this pony has a need for sleep. Night!

Artist Trading Card (ATC) Commissions
ATCs are 2.5x3.5" (standard trading card size) artworks that are surprisingly detailed despite their diminutive size. Each ATC is $10 and comes with a protective sleeve. Choose from watercolor or marker/colored pencil.

Sketchbook/"Quickie" Commissions
"Quickie" Commissions are limited to no more than three characters and cannot include background work, with the exception of a few basic elements such as grass, a watercolor wash, etc. Inclusion of simple props is fine. I am more than happy to draw "yiffy" subject matter, but some subject matter will be left to my discretion.

FWA Meme
Posted 13 years agoFWA PRE-ORDERS! http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3167290/
Where are you staying?
Home. I live less than 5 miles from the con hotel, so why would I pay an obscene amount of money for a room? I'll already have to go home to feed the dogs. :B
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
I'll be chillin' with my fiendish consorts in the Artists' Alley, though I promise to take a few minutes to drop in to visit my beloved friends in the Dealers' Den this year. :D
Who will you be with?

Do you do free art?
Only if I'm in the mood. In other words? Not very often
Do you do trades?
If I have the time! Please feel free to ask, but don't be put off if I ask that the trade itself waits until after the con. I'm trying to take as much commissioned work as possible.
Do you do commissions?
Yes! I will be offering badges, sketchbook drawings, ATC/ACEO cards, and "quickie" commissions (please see http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3167290/ for more details). If you would like a more complex piece of artwork, please feel free to commission me while at the con, but be aware that it's very likely that it will not be completed over the weekend. Yes, this does mean that I am accepting take-home commissions!
Do you have prints/ CDs?
Not this year.
What suits will you have?
None.
What is your gender?
Female.
How old are you?
24
How tall are you?
5’4"
Distinguishing physical features or accessories?
I'm short, curvy, and freckled with blue-green eyes. I've got medium-length, wavy dark-auburn hair that is almost always worn brushed off to the right side with a headband of some sort, in a pony tail, or pin-up style "victory rolls". I practically live in blue jeans, Converse or flip-flops, and a zip-front hoodie, but I'm planning on breaking out a pin-up outfit or two this year. There's also a high probability that I'll be wearing something horsey-themed.
Can I touch you?
I'm open to hugs, hand shakes, etc. Please refrain from getting too touchy-feely with me unless you're a well-established, close friend of mine. That's just creepy.
Can I talk to you?
Sure! I love to hold a good conversation. However, don't be put off if I'm working on commission and don't immediately respond. I tend to space out a little when I'm drawing or getting sleepy, so you might have to say my name to catch my attention.
Click http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3167290/ for more information about the commissions I'll be taking.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugging is fine. Snuggling is fine if you're a close friend of mine. Otherwise? Creepy!
Are you nice?
Generally speaking, I'm very cordial, though I have a tendency to be a tiny bit on the shy side.
Additional Info:

I wasn't jumping on the PayPal hating bandwagon, until...
Posted 14 years agoI logged in this morning to see that PayPal has decided that I conduct business that poses a "high risk of future transaction problems". What the hell? I have a 100% satisfaction rating on all of my eBay sales and I've never issued a refund or gotten complaints where my art is concerned. So, PayPal, you're telling me that I'm being punished for... what reason?
Apparently, the only way to get my money released any time before the end of the 21 day period is to submit a USPS/UPS/FedEx verified shipment. Except... some of the artwork I do isn't shipped out because it's digital or for locally based clients. Argh!
Needless to say, I'm pissed.
Is anyone else having this issue? Are alternative sites available?
EDIT:
I have set up an account at http://payments.amazon.com for those of you who no longer wish to submit payments via PayPal. It was extremely easy to set up and my whole account was verified in under 90 seconds. Amazon even has a special section for sellers of digital goods & service and nonprofit organizations that allows them to set up an HTML code enabling one-time payments, subscriptions, marketplace/shopping cart payments, and donations. Looks promising!
EDIT 12/9/11:
I used Amazon Payments for the first time yesterday and WOW! EASY! I got the money within 5 seconds of being told that it was sent at around 3ish on 12/8/11 (literally, all I had to do was refresh and there it was), AND it has already transferred to my bank account as of 9 am on 12/9/11. My client assures me that it was equally painless on his end, since he was able to set his account up in under 5 minutes and could use the credit/debit card he already had on file with Amazon.com. If you haven't done it yet, you should really make an Amazon Payments account.

Personality Patterns
Posted 14 years agoWarm
You have a genuine interest in other people. You're a natural host, and are always thinking about how you can increase the happiness of those around you. When friends have problems or are in trouble, you're usually the first person they turn to for aid and comfort. Scoring high on the "warm" trait suggests that you are among those who enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't always say exactly what you're thinking; you don't like the idea of causing anyone pain because of your criticism.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Intellectual
You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.
You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.
Assertive
You behave in a confident and forceful manner, take charge of the situation, raise your hand in class, stand up for what you think is right, and lead others. Among those who have a high score on the "assertive" trait, many have jobs in which they are valued for their organizational skills as well as their talent for supervising others.
You are not interested in fading into the woodwork, leaving everything to fate, taking more time than necessary to accomplish a task, or avoiding confrontation.
Understanding
You are willing to take the time to find out what's going on with other people, especially if they're in distress. You're a good listener, you don't criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it's requested. With a high score on the "understanding" trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Empathetic
You are in touch with your own feelings, which helps put you in touch with the feelings of others.
You don't buy the logic that your happiness comes ahead of everyone else's because unless you're happy you're incapable of making anyone else happy.
Organized
You like to think a task through before you embark on it. If it's the slightest bit complicated, you make a list (even if it's only in your mind) and methodically work your way through it. When you have a goal in mind, you're not satisfied until you reach it.
You are not one of those people who ignore the details, and you don't understand how anyone can get anything accomplished without thoughtful planning ahead of time.
Calm
You rarely become irritated, generally accept people as they are, take things as they come, and feel relaxed in most situations.
You do not let a minor annoyance escalate to a confrontation. You don't regularly snap at those around you or fly off the handle with little provocation.
Innovative
You come up with a lot of ideas; if one doesn't work out, there's always another waiting in the wings. You often have interesting solutions to difficult problems. You're practically a one-person brainstorming session.
You are less interested changing the world than in dealing with things as they are. Unlike those who spend all their time trying to solve problems, you prefer to zero in on things that work and stick with them.

At Summer's End, School Daze Begins
Posted 14 years agoSorry I've been so quiet and, frankly, MIA most of the summer. I took a job at a local law firm and we've been up to our eyeballs with cases (which is actually a very good thing!). After work, I've been driving straight out to the barn most nights to spend time with my horse, Sam, since I didn't have much contact with him at all during my first year of law school. Not to mention that
has been with me since June and we've suddenly adopted a new member into our family (of the adorable dachshund variety).
I've been suffering from migraines most of the summer, which I've learned is attributable to the fact that I have astigmatisms in both eyes, the left worse than the right. Yesterday, I picked up my new glasses and WHOA. Holy crap. I'm finally able to focus on teensy tiny details, which is awesome but also means that I'm feeling pretty dizzy in the adjustment period. I've never had glasses before, so I feel quite "@.@" to say the least. Fortunately, I discovered that I can still manage arts without having too much wonkiness going on, so I should be able to make some headway today. Good thing, seeing as I also need those eyeballs to work on homework later today.
Speaking of school... THAT has been an interesting subject this summer. Turns out that the idiot in the financial aid office never turned in my undergraduate loan deferment paperwork once I began school last fall, so my undergrad had been billing me since August 2010 without bothering to send me any notification of such. When I applied for my 2011-2012 financial aid package back in July (because my law school took that long to get everything set up for us), I was "pleasantly surprised" to find that I had a HEFTY sum of money that was being charged to my credit and my federal loan applications were denied. I've spent the last month rectifying the situation without much help from the law school, but I'm not surprised. Last year, I submitted the deferment paperwork to the financial aid counselor THREE TIMES and all she had to do was slap her signature on it, print off a paper stating that I was enrolled in school for X number of hours, and stuff it into the stamped envelope I provided. Did she do it? Of course not. Who got screwed because she can't do her damn job? I did. Thanks for that, you bitch. >:|
I'm still good to go for class on Monday because my financial aid appeal is in process and the hold has been lifted on my student account. All I had to do was circumvent the financial aid officer by paying a visit to the Dean of Students and spend a small fortune mailing off important documents. Totally worth it, though.
TL;DR: Sorry for going MIA, summer job kept me busy. Got new glasses. Financial aid counselor is an effing moron, but it's all good now. Second year of law school starts Monday. :D

Megaplex Trip Cancelled D:
Posted 14 years agoSo, as you guys may have figured out by my last journal, things have been a bit rocky lately. Turns out that my financial situation is still going to be tight for the next few months, even with my new job. It no longer makes sense for me to make a large expenditure to attend Megaplex, even though I've already paid the registration fee.
To the couple of folks I agreed to do trades with: I'm still more than happy to uphold my end of the trade and mail it out to you if you're still willing to do the same. (Allon, I know that cookies are perishable and may sometimes be hard to mail, so I'd be happy to take a raincheck until next FWA if that'd be easier for you.) Just let me know!

I'm not dead... but almost.
Posted 14 years agoThe past few weeks have been absolutely ridiculous in the most annoying of ways. I got slapped in the face with a HUGE dose of Murphy's Law and I'm trying my best to recover. Finally managed to get a new job that pays really well, so at least there's that. Good thing, too, considering Sam threw a shoe earlier this week and I found two screws embedded into my tire.
Commissioners, updates on your art will be coming ASAP. I apologize for the delay and SHOULD have a few things finished and posted tonight.

SUMMER! Commissions are open!
Posted 14 years agoI finally finished up my torturous first year of law school on Friday, which as been such a sweet relief! This weekend was spent at a horse show at the Wills Park Equestrian Center in Alpharetta, GA with my equestrian team coach and a few good friends and some damn good horses. Shows are always busy-busy, but that was exactly the unwind I needed after two weeks of hell (aka exams). Overall, the weekend was a success crowned by one of my friends qualifying for the USEF Pony Finals in only her third show jumping over fences set at 3 feet.
I got my super-freaking-awesome horse, Sam, moved into his new barn Sunday morning and he seems to be enjoying himself so far. He's out in a small field with a 20+ pony and a cheeky little Appaloosa, both geldings, and has been getting along with them just fine. (I have to admit that I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more showing off to start with because I wanted some good photos of Sam being lively.) The barn is somewhat small and has a charming quaintness, but there are a few things that are driving me absolutely bonkers... like leaving dirty tack out in the barn aisle, or not cleaning up after your horse if he takes a poop in a public area (aisle, wash stall, cross ties, etc.) Cleaning and reorganizing will be my major summer project, I'm sure.
Being out of school also means that I have more time for artwork! :D My commission queue is completely empty right now and I'm looking to take on more projects while I have plenty of time on my hands. Please see my price list for information about special summer discounts and new offerings. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2226166/
