Little bit of an update
Posted 3 years agoHi! It's been quite a while since I've posted any updates, all the way since I started Patreon; and I haven't posted any writing in a bit. Things have been pretty crazy lately, so:
- Major thing is... new job! \o/ I'm finally full time, real, actual faculty. It was pretty last minute too. The job was posted in early September. Round 1 interviews was a week later, then round 2 the following week, and at the end of September I was offered the job. I started at the start of October. It's a new/unique kind of position where I have half teaching load, half doing some new stuff (to me at least). So I've had to learn a lot and hit the ground running this last couple weeks (the person with the job before me quit in May, so there was a huge backlog of stuff to fix/catch up on/etc). But I've finally got a real job, woo!
- Story delays. Because of all the hectic nature of the last 6 weeks with the job (in addition to getting sick), I've not had much time (let alone the mood) to get writing done. It's hard to write horny stuff when you're so busy/exhausted/sick. I'm going to get back on it asap! Because I didn't get much done in September, my Patreon is on break for October, and I'll be posting some make up stuff. Plan is to resume Patreon in November and get back into the groove of posting. - And as above, got sick a few times. Still haven't had covid (to the best of my knowledge), but I've gotten a few stomach bugs and some sort of nasty cold recently. That kind of kicked off the recent delaying addition to the above info. I'm actually a bit sick at the moment with some stomach thing. Sad dragon.
That's about it! I should be at MFF in December, still working on that. Hotel get, but my classes end the week after. So we'll see! But let me know if you'll be there.

- Going to drive to FWA on Friday, and leave Sunday after late lunch/early dinner. Gonna be a brief but fun con I hope :D Hella excited to see Mystery Skulls. Otherwise, I don't really have any plans. Hit me up if you wanna hang out!
- BLFC gonna do a bit more hardcore. Getting in Wednesday evening, leaving Sunday at like... 11 PM. No real plans so far, but I know it's going to be crazy because I haven't seen all my west coast friends in a year now. X3

Posted 7 years agoHeya everyone! I haven’t really updated anything, spare some streams and conventions, in nearly a year now- when my bun and I moved out East to North Carolina. I haven’t been chatting or active as much lately, so I figure I should update about things. Like the title implies, things have been a bit all over the place lately, so… bitching warning ahead, lol.
Doggy!
For the past year, while living in NC, we’ve had a doggy <3 Deebo. He’s been seen on twitter quite a bit. It’s been awesome :D Love him and so happy he’s around. Good bit of work for Sal and myself- more so him, he works from home and has to keep up with Deebo. But it’s been great <3 Really looking forward to getting him a yard to stay in. Of which…
Things turn a bit negative after this XP
House-
Sal and I have decided to stay in NC for the long run. Or at least many years. We both like the area a lot. I have really great job prospects in the area, and expect I’ll find a job after my postdoc is up (2 more years) real easily. Because of this, we’ve been looking for a house :D It’s… exhausting and awful, really. Sal and my twitter feeds have been full of rage all about it. We found one, but home inspection showed some serious issues, and terminated. We thought we found the perfect new one. Were supposed to close on Aug. 14th… but the entitled pieces of shit threw a huge tantrum, hurled a ton of insults at us for asking credits toward repairs (needed 20k roof/siding/windows), and told us they’d smoke in the house all they wanted. It was some entitled, Trump baby bullshit. I have horrible wishes for this fucker. So, now, back to the hunt.
Family-
It’s been about 2 years? Since I saw my family, which I’ve been reminded of quite a lot. Unfortunately, my mom has had good reason; things haven’t been going so well with her. Recently, she got diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS); it’s a genetic-based condition, rheumatoid arthritis in the spine. Inflammatory based disease. Luckily… thanks to my field of work, I know a lot about this. Unfortunately, there’s near nothing she can do at this point, as it’s progressively degenerative; you can do preventative stuff, but not fix what’s already broken so easily.
Atop this, my mom was recently found to have a large neoplasm (growth that shouldn’t be there) inside her abdomen. It’s looking like it’s an ovarian or intestinal tumor; information coming in still. Between those both, my mom’s retired early from her job. She’s also taking care of my great uncle, whose wife passed a while ago. So she’s pretty at the end of what she can handle.
Health-
As stated above, AS is a genetic condition; a mutation called HLA-B27. There are other variables that affect presentation, but a large component is genetic. Unfortunately, my brother and I both inherited the mutation. After some tests, I have it for sure; luckily, only minor disk and pelvic joint degeneration for now. At this point it’s healthy diet/supplements and monitoring degeneration.
Mental health-
Understandably, this hasn’t been great lately. I’ve been very open about having a depression condition (dysthymia) before, and that I’ve been taking medication for it. Specifically, Zoloft. It’s helped a lot on making it through my PhD, and kept all the worst away. Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a downer and made my libido not great. After getting set up with my psych here (~4 months), we talked about trying a new medication (Wellbutrin) as an adjunctive therapy. It’s helped a lot, so we’re trying to get me off Zoloft entirely. It’s been tapered off for the past couple months, and as of Monday I’m off it entirely. It’s not felt great, but hopefully withdrawal ends soon. It’s really physically uncomfortable. But mentally, been doing pretty great.
The stuff with the house/my mom hasn’t been helping a ton. I’m also a very social person, and Sal and I don’t have local friends. Luckily, some friends a little ways away have come out to visit us (and see the pupper) a few times. It’s helped, but all of it’s been getting to me too. Hopefully things turn upward soon, and the new medication stuff works out.
Sorry for the all-around negativity, but lots of stuff going on! Hoping things turn upward soon. I hope to get back to writing soon. I started knitting once again, so… looking to get back into creativity :D

Another life update. We've moved! I'm living on the East Coast! This time zone has morning REALLY EARLY. Also, Halloween! Woooooo!!!.... played lots of overwatch and got halloween skins :3
Otherwise, It's November! Meaning on the....
28th... I turn 31!!!! Woohoo. It'll also mark ~1.5 months at my new job, which has been rad so far :3 Sal got me an AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG set of knives. If my gallery isn't a hint, I'm quite a fan of cooking. These are the best things I've ever worked with cooking wise. <33 So much awesomeazing omfg.
30th... MFF! CHICAGO! Woohoo! Can't wait. Haven't been to a con since... BLFC? What a summer and fall! It feels like it's been a couple years. If you'll be there, hit me up. Can't wait to see all my fuzzies again :)

General updates- moving, etc!
Posted 8 years agoHey guys! Haven't really given any updates in... jesus, 7 months. So! Things have been a bit busy.
Over the summer Sal and I have lived in Arizona, with some friends who had extra space for us to rent. Was super helpful, and saved a lot of money because socal rent is CRAZY D: But AZ is pretty awesome! Very very hot. X3 But... I was only here for a couple months!

I then went back to SoCal for 6 weeks to teach a course. A legit, instructor-of-record, full-on university teaching position. It was insaaaaaaaaaane XD I got materials from the professor that taught the 11 week version. I was teaching 2 sections, 12 hr a week, 220 students... was crazy. But I made it through! And none of them tried to kill me. Win-win :D Got me some good resume experience, and made a little money. Woo! <3
I'm now back in AZ, and preparing to move to North Carolina. I have a job lined up, 3 year contract. It's half teaching, half research. I'll still be doing cancer biology research, though directly on cancer biology and not molecular biology of a chemotherapeutic like my PhD. Big change, but I think I'll like it a lot. The group I'm working with seems awesome, and I'm looking forward to teaching more. Plus, cheap as fuuuuuuuuck to live there. X3
In other news, Sal and I are inheriting a dog, and he's the sweetest best thing ever. <3 Last November I became an uncle, and my brother hasn't had enough time for said dog over the past nearly year- so Sal and I are taking him instead, 'cause we got time and lots of love to give him :D We're gonna have a fur babyyyyy! Excited.
Finally, been a bit of a tragic/rough year so far for both myself and sal. Both his and my maternal grandmothers passed, mine back in March and his just recently. My great aunt, my grandmother's older sister, also just passed. My mom's been the one helping out with my great uncle, and who took the brunt of my grandmother's passing, so things have been a bit stressful in that regard.
Otherwise, life's pretty peachy. Survived teaching, got my PhD, getting a dog, haz a bun :3 Just celebrated our 4th year anniversary recently too! I know I've not been around a whole bunch or writing, but things are busy. Don't mean to ignore you guys. Hope everything is going well :D

General life update
Posted 8 years agoHi all! Just giving a general update on life and all. Since Sal's birthday has passed a couple weeks ago, so time to put new stuff up!
After the whole Ph.D thing I've been fixing things up around the house and chilling a good it! So life has been a little more relaxing and chill in that way.
Last few days were spent ~7 hr drive away. Visited my mother and father, and went to my grandmother's funeral. That sort of sucked a lot, but got it all done and it was nice to see relatives. And I was in a Catholic church and didn't asplode into flames! I even spoke there. All as good as it could have went! Overall, happy with everything. My family did well with one another (can often be an issue), and y grandmother is at peace. So overall good.
Been crazy busy the last month or so for a few reasons. I got my Ph.D. and I've been applying for a lot of postdoctoral jobs. I've got online interviews in Virginia, New York, and North Carolina. Waiting on a dozen other applications for all sorts of jobs. Fun stuff!!
I recently won a new character in an auction- Trast! AKA Ronny and Leroy. Lots of fun - a cold-blooded reptile dragon and a mammalian fur dragon fused together. Enjoying him a lot :3 http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23170152/ Adore his character and going to expand him a lot soon if I can.
Otherwise.... not a whole lot to report. Still unbelievably lucky to have my bunny.
Moving to Arizona in 6 days to save some money, then... wherever I end up for my research!
With that. Watch Buddy Thunderstruck. Gay and awesome as fuck. I want to do SUCH bad things to Darnell. If you do not watch it, you're a fart nugget.

Posted 8 years agoMany already knew this day was coming up, but - it's done. Defended my thesis today. I passed. All my committee signed. All I have to do are some thesis edits and file, then it'll be official.
But yeah. For all intents and purposes... I'm a PhD now. Woo hoo.
Going to go sleep for a week now. Hopefully I'll get back to writing after the next couple weeks. :)
