Goals
Posted 5 years agoHey All, so my account may get quiet for awhile moving forward into 2021 and beyond. Setting some priorities in life, including saving up to build a house and such will most likely cut down on my usual splurge of monies on a regular basis and I do mean splurge. Overall with all that I have spent over the last few years I could have built 2 houses by now. This isn't a halt on the game or progress, it's just refocusing my monetary spending away from concept art for awhile. I've gotten plenty of inspirational images at this point to help me power thru to create some strong content and if anything, it'll help me really focus in on prioritizing what really needs to be rendered and what can simply be a happy image in my skull.
Dream Home Design has always been a passion of mine and if I can have it before I'm 45, I'll be at least 10-15 years ahead of my parents. which isn't too bad.

A note on Black Lives Matter
Posted 5 years agoJust offering a bit of insight that may help you in dialog with any of your friends/family that you may want to try and enlighten to the situation that's unfolding (and has been unfolding for decades) in terms of awareness, sensitivity and overall understanding.
When you are communicating to someone and they say something that comes off as "Ignorant" like when someone says "ALL LIVES MATTER!" rather than calling them ignorant or belittling them: take a moment and understand that it may NOT be this person's fault for saying/thinking things like that. Not everyone can wrap their heads around this situation and least of all anyone who has never struggled with being a Person of Color (POC for those of you who are now learning the lingo). The wisdom and insight that I am offering is to take into consideration that instead of beginning your response on the offensive; attempt to educate and teach. This may require PATIENCE on your part, yes. This may require you to bite your tongue more than you'd like to BUT if you actually make a breakthrough by approaching the situation diplomatically; it will have a far greater chance of success and be much more likely to take hold.
Please keep in mind, you may need to spin your perception (I say perception instead of "Argument" because again, trying to use diplomatic phrasing) a few different ways in order to help them understand.
As an example, the best analogy I have come up with in regards to the reply of "but all lives matter!" is
"The unfortunate part is the perception we have had ingrained into us, twists our views and responses towards self-preservation instead of inclusion. So when I say "Water Matters" and you respond "But what about Air and Food and shelter?" Do you really think I don't think those matter? It's not about exclusion, it's about inclusion. You need ALL forms of sustenance to survive just like you need all children of color to have equality for our planet to survive."
So please, keep in mind everyone; approach the situation diplomatically, give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they haven't had someone caring enough to educate them instead of jumping down their throat. If your force their walls up, you'll just be talking to a wall.

Harvest Bound
Posted 6 years agoYeah yeah, I know: I should be working on moving accounts; but I just haven't allowed myself the time.
Working furiously on the game, I'm sure when people see the end result they'll be like "It took you how many years to make this?..." but to be fair; I'm trying to reinvent the wheel here. When you go through a multitudinous expanse of possibilities, options, conclusions; it's terrifying just how many different ways you could make an RPG just using 1 die-type, let alone multiple mediums.
So in short, I have successfully locked down the core system of the game which will spawn a domino effect of advancement in the overall design. All the Lore and volume of possibilities are there, I just have to put numbers to them now. So onto the busy work.
As stated earlier this year, I plan to showcase the game system at MFF2019. May be exclusive to a small group but I'll definitely do my best to draw others to sit in and see.
Cheers,

News for 2019
Posted 7 years agoSo, some good news: Carrion himself will be attending MFF2019, all new and unmistakable.
Khorma may also be present; still debating on that spend for this year, but Carrion will unequivocally be in attendance.

Some Exciting News!
Posted 7 years agoSo, as ya'll know; I've had some very poor experiences with attempting to acquire a Fursuit. Reverie V1 arrived 1 day before MFF 2015 and was wrong colors and poorly sized. Reverie Partial V2 was delayed by several months giving me only a few days before MFF 2017 to be prepared to use it and was left somewhat disappointed with the final result.
For Mff2018 I attempted to acquire a hand sculpted design of Carrion's mask and essentially had $1700 stolen from me when the artist failed to produce and then ended up outside of the protection of Paypal policies.
In short, I had given up on suiting all together. However, I had a conversation with the only fursuit artist that I've coveted ever since I entered this fandom
drakonicknight and after showing her Scathe and his design; she said that she had to make him <3 SO, in conclusion: if all goes according to plan: I'll be having a conversation with Lydia next month to start the ball rolling and HOPEFULLY come to MFF2019 as Scathe, the Feral-Vampire <3

Darkness at the end of a blinding light
Posted 7 years agoSo, as you can see by my pinned journal: I'm consistently getting railed with overdue/failed commissions. Not to mention my 3 consistently poor experiences (one of which ended up being blatant theft) with attempting to acquire a fursuit/outfit. I don't have a whole lot of positivity going for me lately.
The darkness at the end of this blinding and infuriating light however is that I've decided to acquire a temporary fix to get me through another year. It's not quite Carrion but it has a few similar themes that definitely pull in the direction as being an alternative version of Carrion; so I'll roll with it for now.
I genuinely hope that sometime in the future I'll be able to acquire something without being dicked around or flat out stolen from. But that may take a lot of time and a lot of patience.
What I did learn from this whole situation though is that from now on, no commissioner will receive my money without being able to finish a project within 100 days. If that means that my options are slim to none: I guess that means I will not be acquiring my finalized and realized dream of possessing a true representation of my character in a vivid form.

Destiny 2 Forsaken
Posted 7 years agoI'm sure if you're a Destiny-2 Fan, you're probably either playing the raid or watching a live event at this moment so I'm sure you won't be reading this as it's posted; but just wanted to throw out there that I have seceded from my previous clan (as there was little to no activity/chemistry) and have created my own.
If you're looking for a PS4 clan that has individuals who love to laugh, have a great time and play with dedication (5+ hours a week) and help each other out, consider signing up for "Echoes of the Harbingers" (EOTH).

I'm done
Posted 7 years agoMy 3rd attempt at acquiring a physical identity (fursuit/costume/cosplay) for MFF has once again ended in a monumental disappointment. Instead of arriving a day before it was needed like the last 2 fursuit commissions I've acquired, this mask and accessory piece simply didn't arrive at all. On the 286 day mark out of 60 days; I lose and I'm out $1,700.
What I've realized is that moving forward, every artist that I work with will receive a consumer disclosure from me, stating that if the item/commission purchased is not received within 120 days; I will submit for a complete reimbursement through paypal to ensure I am under their protection and any artist that won't agree, I simply won't commission. I'm sure it's very visible on my Pinned Journal that I have a lot of artists that are past the 180+ days mark and technically; they could all just NOT do the work I paid them for. I'm hoping they won't, but either way: I'm done losing my ass on commissioned fursuits/costumes. It was something I hard really hoped to get into and be apart of: but I'm sick of putting myself out there.

Destiny 2
Posted 7 years agoWell, it looks like Destiny 2 may be able to salvage the franchise with the up and coming "Forsaken" DLC. It looks like this may be the first time I've actually seen the game I've wanted since D-1 Alpha; so it may have all been worth the 4+ year wait.
That being said, if anyone is interested in joining the clan that I am affiliated with (PS4 only) I am a member of: Auggie's Assassins.
My Playstation ID is: theblackwinter
I'm not particularly "Chatty" as I'm usually running something in the background while I game; so I usually avoid mic. If you're fine with that and don't require voice, feel free to send me a party invite.

ALHAANSHI Scathe Night/Day (3/22/19) Paid for but Never Completed Inside information for buying a vehicle
Posted 7 years agoSO, as one who will be assuming control of an entire 3 franchise dealership within the next couple of years; I'd like to impart some insider information to my fellow furries that will benefit you to stay ahead of all the bullshit.
1) buying a vehicle is scary; find someone that you trust and stop beating people up over price. If you find a salesperson (but more importantly a dealership) that you can trust, don't shop around for better prices because even if you find a better price somewhere else; you could get REALLY Bent over in SO MANY WAYS because they lured you in with the lower price and fine-line-sold you all the extra bull shit.
2) if you have the option to save up a bit and put money down and LEASE instead of Purchase: LEASE. Granted this approach really only works for those that drive 15,000 miles/year or less; LEASE because A) the dealership wiil call you ahead of expiration in an attempt to get you into a newer vehicle sooner and they'll take a hit to make it happen, B) you don't have to worry about the bull shit about trade value. I know you think you're settled on a particular value that you want to get for your vehicle and I know you think you're getting that but ANYONE can make it look the way you want it to look. Save yourself the headache and avoid trade-value all together. C) always under warranty. I've heard a lot of people say "Oh well if it's good it won't break down" yeah, right, that's why the industry standard is a 3 year 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty because they never break down.... I kid you not, a customer of mine had her entire transmission go out at 3,000 miles. It was an utter fluke and even astonished the engineers; shit happens, don't be on the receiving end of it.
3) Lastly but not least, if you happen to live in the midwest and want to buy from someone you can trust feel free to reach out to me ;) I adhere to all of this advice because I give it to all of my customers and they buy from me for life because it's a symbiotic relationship. I even have loyal customers as far as Washington state who have flown out to pick up their vehicle from me. So if you happen to fly in for MFF and want to drive back in a new ride let me know ;)
All in all, car buying should be a simple, calm and stress-free experience. I've always had customers tell me how surprised they were at how easy everything was; and that's exactly how it should be. I can't say I'll be in the industry forever, but I'll be sure to pass the torch to someone that will uphold these values to carry them forward.

Psychology
Posted 7 years agoIf at any point in time you are having difficulty finding motivation, Positive-Reinforcement is often a fantastic method to encourage oneself towards a goal.
Example: I'm a Wisconsinite; essentially we're all on a certain level - Alcoholics. Great motivator for myself: If you workout you can have a drink.
I now workout 4-5 days a week :p and no, it's not "drink until you pass out" reward it's "You get to have 1 tasty drink" and that's enough :)
So, what motivates you? Rather than indulging it because you can, use it as a reward to yourself for an accomplishment that day. Set requirements of yourself but also establish exceptions.
A key to success is NOT going cold-turkey. Moderation and patience are key.

An easily offended world is easily offended
Posted 7 years agoI'm not a P.C. person by any means. I never mean to offend anyone because I feel like it's a waste of my time to purposely do so. I feel that it's an even greater waste of time to mince words and to slow down your train of thought just to make sure you use all the current hyper-sensitive community requires. A recent study was concluded (apparently) determining that those who swear a lot are more honest, because they tend not to hold back what's running through their minds. I would agree with that statement, but rather than being a potty mouth I suppose I tend to speak more realistically and more honestly. The burden of the Horn Bearer is that we can be brutally honest, but unlike Sagittarius who fail to understand the wounds they cause by doing so: Capricorns recognize it but know that it must be said/done.
I'm actually bringing this up, because recently a very reputable artist unveiled a YCH as a four digit figure, buyout. I'm sure everyone is aware I'm speaking of
Miles-DF and boy, did people pitch a fit. I even saw some fairly common/famous/reputable names that had a thing or 2 to say about it. Like most, sticker shock definitely made me torque a jaw as well when I saw the price. Like most situations, a lot of things run through my mind and I always do my best to filter my thoughts into a cohesive response, not to mince words, but to adequately approach a situation from a neutral position.
Yes, the price was/is shocking and I know that the majority will take 1 of 2 sides: "hey, if people are willing to pay it the artist is within their right to charge it" or the other common response is: "$#T#$HGEGNORHFLEFGH!!!!".
The best way that I can qualify this incident to anyone attempting to wrap their heads around it is: if you go onto
Miles-DF 's page, you know for a fact that his prices aren't cheap. It's like when you walk into a maserati dealership. If you're walking into that dealership, where there isn't 1 vehicle in their inventory below $100,000 and if you expect to find something a quarter to that price, well you're the idiot: no the dealer. Same thing here with this
Miles-DF if you go onto his page thinking you're going to find a starting price for ANY of his work lower than $200, you're kidding yourself.
"But Mr. IX Spokes, the price was 6 times that amount!"
Correct, and when you go into a high-end, luxury performance dealership: you're going to find a Base model and their highest end "Customer MUST order with money down to add to Inventory" kind of vehicle as well. It just so happens that this artist unveiled their highest-end model to date.
Now just like automotive brands, sometimes they unveil these high-end, very niche models and discover that the demand really isn't there and so they shoot themselves in the foot; find out the demand just isn't where they thought it would be, happens all the time.
Honestly,
Miles-DF has set a standard for himself and I genuinely hope that he's accurate in his prediction that someone will value his art to such a degree.
Lastly, I want to be clear: this is not a kiss ass attempt to earn a thanks from
Miles-DF in defending what he's doing. He doesn't need anyone to defend him and he shouldn't be grateful for someone who sees that he places value in his own product. I'm just sort of flushing this out to help myself come to a peaceful and positive understanding to this new experience and hoping that perhaps it helps others as well. We need to stop being so easily offended by something that we're not used to or familiar with and learn to see the good and the positive as often as we can. I'm lucky that I've been able to acquire a few pieces from
Miles-DF back when the prices were cheaper and I'm content with just having those experiences and feel lucky that I saw the value in his work back then like others are seeing now.
(just to clarify, I'm defending Miles' right to price how he sees fit and perhaps because of my neutral approach you may take it as being in opposition to your own; but I genuinely hope people come to understand his work and stop giving him flack for it)

I'm lucky that I've been able to acquire a few pieces from
Miles-DF back when the prices were cheaper and I'm content with just having those experiences and feel lucky that I saw the value in his work back then like others are seeing now.(just to clarify, I'm defending Miles' right to price how he sees fit and perhaps because of my neutral approach you may take it as being in opposition to your own; but I genuinely hope people come to understand his work and stop giving him flack for it)
on my Birf-day
Posted 8 years agoSo, this is the 10th time I'm turning 25. Am I any wiser than what I was? Regrettably yes. I say regrettably because as a Horn-bearer, I've already been old for a long time and I would have figured I could have had "my shit" together by then but even now, still have a lot of things and a lot of efforts in the works to improve my life and those around me.
My gift to those that have yet to experience their 10th 25th, I say to you that while residing in the neutral zone may seem a little less flavorful, it does provide for a multi-dimensional perspective in life. A few resounding things have come into view over the last decade and a few key words stick with me that I'd like to reflect on.
Hate: A word that I was brought up to avoid, Hate was taught to me to be as crass as a swearword and with the strongest level of malevolence. As such, when I hear the word, I can't help but cringe because it is curious to me what sort of fire can be brought up in someone's heart to warrant such an expression? Obviously there is a lot of hate in the world today. It seems like for every benefit and grace that our technology and ever shrinking world becomes that it only magnifies the negative along side it. While I may dislike certain things, certain individuals and certain actions; I find it very difficult to "hate." Now don't get me wrong, I'm not some fun-loving, peace-resolves-everything movement individual or anything. If someone willfully brings harms to others, you can bet they're on my radar for retribution. What I'm getting at is: I think people are too quick to hate and too quick to act. Too quick to force resolution and too quick to put the line in the sand. Don't get me wrong, be quick to judge someone; but don't be so quick to exact that judgement. I've been wrong on my judgement before and I'm always glad that I've kept that to myself until it was either confirmed or disproven; it has made my life a much more open book and made me much more open to experiences and people in general.
Hypocrisy: I am in no way, shape or form: immune to hypocrisy. I'm sure even within the short time that I've taken to write this journal, I have already stated or provided a few hypocritical examples even unto myself. What I will say however is just like my judgement, I do my best to reserve my criticisms and my thoughts until I am resolute in my dedication to the value on which they stand. All too often I see those that preach about equality and peace and then immediately double around and criticize and beat up others for having any alternative acts or expressions that differ from their own. While I may agree that what those alternative actions may stand for may be in opposition to my own, if I already stated that I want everything possible to be open and equal, I'm not going to double around and say "except for these instances." Again, Hypocrisy. But again as a Horn-bearer, I try to always see from multiple angles; not just that which I initially perceive.
Astrology: To those naysayers that do not believe in Astrology, this is for you as well as those that believe. Astrology to me began as my proverbial Horn-bearer obsession with calculation and equations. By gathering knowledge on all the signs and having an in-depth perspective on even the most random people I could encounter: gave me comfort. The more I researched the more complex it got; which of course makes sense as mortal beings cannot be reduced to a simple 12-point equation. What I TRULY took away from all of my research in Astrology was that I learned about everyone's merits but more importantly everyone's flaws. Why is this important? Because as most Capricorns may take actions from others personally, I learned to let it all go. Capricorns are very easy to let go of toxicity and that still holds true for me today; but I learned more importantly that I shouldn't take it personally. I don't begrudge my life-time child hood friend from turning into a P.C. Nazi, because his personality changed almost ever 5 years and turns out that is a NATURAL aspect to his sign. So rather than being hateful of him cutting me off for refusing to adhere to every pronoun in every language on the planet, I just accepted that it was time to move on and I wished him the best in his life's endeavors despite his hateful words. So the short lesson from Astrology is: Learn why people suck and accept that it isn't necessarily just being directed at you.
Ego: lastly, my favorite and a principal design to my sona as well as an entire race for the Devils, Ego. I've designed an entire race within my setting after the Capricorn and obviously I wear the badge of Capricorn very proudly as does any and all others that I meet that have even a modicum acquisition of Astrological knowledge. Ego swings both ways though; while I wouldn't claim myself to be "egotistical" or "arrogant" I can sometimes rub people the wrong way when I express confidence and I can often be misinterpreted. To those so quick to judge and then ACT on their judgement; see above. For me, 1st impressions aren't necessarily the fault of the individual but instead the fault of the observer. One that I've encountered lately is an Ego that revolves around victimization. If I'm not in a particularly chatty mood, my Roommate will ask me if it's something he did that I'm upset? To me that is ALSO a registration of Ego. Someone thinks that if someone is upset then they must be upset with them. It may not be an Ego that anyone else will criticize but if you're looking from a neutral position you will understand that it can be just as toxic. (And yes I have had this discussion with my room mate so this is not me talking behind his back, it's a learning experience).
I would like to disclose that none of the information above is reflected upon anyone that would ever have access to reading this material personally. If you feel like this may be a reflection or an attack upon you; then as one that is speaking of this logically perhaps it is not me you should direct your upset towards but perhaps you should look within yourself as an opportunity for change and to grow. Not that I reserve change for New Years, but some see the New Years Resolution approach as a renewed level of encouragement.
Happy New Year Everyone, Let's enjoy another year filled with Hate, Hypocrisy, Astrology and Ego and hope that perhaps we can at least do our best to move in better directions towards bettering ourselves and those around us.

Artists, please don't sell yourself short.
Posted 8 years agoI understand that there are a lot of magnificent artists out there who don't want to overcharge their clients/customers and I think that'a amazing; but please don't sell yourselves short. I inquired about adopt a sketch from a magnificently talented artists who (in my opinion) undervalued her work by a clean $50+ and where it's completely an artists prerogative (man, got to remember how to spell that one O.o) to charge what they see fit; I couldn't bring myself to only paying the amount that was quoted to me.
I know some artists always welcome a client like myself who truly values their art and offers/demands to pay more or at least provide a tip, but from artists I've spoken to it tends to be far and few in-between. Yes there are artists who are good and KNOW they're good and charge exorbitant prices, but hey: if people are willing to pay, you're not being an asshole. It's basic economics, supply and demand.
On the other hand: A dear friend of mine
Kristein purposely charges less for her work than she rightful should for the quality she delivers, BUT it's her gift back to the community for all the joy that it brings to her. Obviously I can't argue with that, but again another artist who I will always tip.
I guess if anything, all I can do is ask is that artists keep themselves open to someone who wants to tip or pay more for your work <3 You deserve it. Regardless of how many worlds I create, I will never be able to visually render them and I will always envy you of that magnificent gift.

John Wick Chapter 2 Review (No Spoilers)
Posted 8 years agoIt is with a heavy heart that I must give John Wick 2: 2/5.
John Wick (or rather; Keanu's portrayal) is a rather simple, non-complex character. That's completely fine and it worked perfectly in John Wick the movie (which I love). However the reason WHY the 1st movie worked is the following: Intriguing Situation-Start Story, Intriguing Setting/Mythos, Complex/Multi-Dimensional Villain(s). This equation has been used before in the Batman Series. For as much as we love Batman, it's not BATMAN that makes the story intriguing it's the situation he's thrust into and the villains he's pitted against. Now the Batman series has proven this formula time and time again, it works. However, John Wick 2, apparently that formula wasn't figured out from the 1st movie and I hate to say that it fell flat on its face.
I'd recommend seeing it (on Netflix), but I will say that there were PLENTY of opportunities to gives this movie and many scenes more depth and complexity, but they just went for 98% action and 2% John Wick getting fixed up. Here's hoping for a better 3rd installment, Keanu :/

SELLING MAJOR CHARACTERS (Friends.Followers please read)
Posted 9 years agoPriorities have come in to play after my recent trip to see my girlfriend and now, as we look towards the future things are becoming clearer than ever. I am looking to sell of many of my characters and some of my major named characters as I look towards readying for that future; first of which is to buy an engagement ring.
These characters will include:
Vimaryia: http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/.....02311/Vimaryia
Bonta: https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery.....r/102308/Bonta
Lonfei: http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/...../102300/Lonfei
Fringe: http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/...../133342/Fringe
Falene: http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/...../142312/Falene
This is not a post to bid at, but it is an announcement because I am imploring everyone to help me spread the word once I begin this sale to help.
I am not losing sight of my goal for writing and my game; in fact that is why I see these characters as something I can part with because they technically aren't an asset towards my final goal. My future fiancee genuinely loves the furry fandom and wouldn't want me to let go of any of my characters, but these are ones I can part with.
Please just keep an eye out for the auction post in the near future and help me spread the word. Thank you all.
