Digital Commission price adjustments
General | Posted 9 years agoFirst I want to thank those who took the time to read and answer my questions in my previous journal, I really appreciate the feedback I get. <3
Second, I have been doing more and more digital artwork and commissions so I will be re-writing my commission price guide. It's my intentions to get rid of commish types people aren't interested in and have consistent prices for digital work. Right now the only posted digital prices are for pet portraits and nothing for characters, backgrounds, and the like.I will also update the information in the commission section of my gallery as well.
I've started streaming art on Picarto here>>> https://picarto.tv/Kenadragon (My streams are usually family friendly, but on rare occasion they are +18)
I am thinking about offering Pay While You Watch commissions on Picarto, but not just yet.
Lastly I've been running around getting all my papers in order to apply to teaching school. I'm frazzled and 1000% done with everything! Well, besides art.

Question for my watchers
General | Posted 9 years agoI've never really drawn sexual artwork, or any smut really. There's nudes in my gallery but that's not the same thing. I just wanted to know how people would feel if I started submitting adult art. I have another FA account I don't use, and if people aren't too keen on seeing it here I can always post it to my other account.
So, do you want to see adult art from me?

YCH Reminder LAST DAY MONDAY
General | Posted 9 years agoAlright folks tomorrow at 7 Pacific time my latest YCH is ending, take a look if you're interested! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/21524921/
Other than that, I think I'll start working on sticker pack templates and offering regular digital commissions. People seem to like my digital stuff just fine so I feel confident enough to offer it.

I PASSED THE ART CSET OMG
General | Posted 9 years agoI passed the CSET people! I'm ecstatic! So incredibly happy I cried. Everything from here on out will be a breeze.
Besides that, I have to do some more projects for my second informal portfolio, so October will be the month for that. As for commissions, I think I will offer sticker commissions where I have some pre-drawn out expressions at a decent price. I still have to draw that up though.
I accepted a teaching position at the local VA Hospital in my town to teach ceramics and that will take up a lot of my time. Again, October will be busy for me, but a good kind of busy!
I think I'm getting better at digital art, little by little. I'm finding what works for me and finding shortcuts, which is saying something because I favor traditional art. I feel like a professional artist these days, it's wild. Some good changes have happened this Fall. Here's hoping for more!

Busy with portfolio shenanigans
General | Posted 9 years agoIf you don't know, I'm trying to get certified to teach art. That means I'm currently studying for the CSET, a required test in California. I also need to submit a portfolio of my artwork to show proficiency. I've been e-mailing my art advisor about this for weeks now which has been a trying experience. I wish I had a different advisor, this particular person has admitted to being disorganized and does not remember who is who in her emails. She has called me the wrong name in an email. I don't really have any confidence in her ability. If this persists, I will go to the dean of the Art Department about her. This is my future and I want competent people helping me!
I am also making a lot of ceramic work to sell in the fall as I like to do vendor events and I'm not currently working. Girl gotta get money! If people are interested I can start posting pics of more ceramics, I do more work with clay than anything else these days. I've been making magnets, shot glasses, random tiles, incense holders, candle holders, dragon figurines, cups, and more in my little studio room.
Hopefully work will pick up in the fall, but in the meantime I'm applying to different places and opening up commissions really soon. I've posted my price guide already and the TOS and other info is coming soon. I might sell Telegram stickers as well, I'll have to see if people are interested.
That's how I am and what I've been up to these days.

Tentative Commission info

Ceramics:
HOW CERAMICS WORK
-Piece is made from wet clay
-Piece is then fired in a kiln
-From here, there are two options:
1. Piece is painted with acrylics
2. Piece is glazed then fired again
What is the difference???
1. Painted pieces are more true to color and precise. Not as permanent as double firing. Painting lacks depth and may appear flat.
2. Glazed pieces are imprecise by nature and results are sometimes unpredictable. Glazed pieces will last literally thousands of years. Glazes look rich and earthy, have depth and unique qualities.

Got my account back
General | Posted 9 years agoWell I learned to update my emails and passwords this month! I'll be sticking with this account. :3
Getting ready for TDOV
General | Posted 9 years agoHello folks, I've been working hard on getting prints, buttons, and more ready for an event in Fresno. I've tabled 2 times before, but this time I will have a friend sharing the table with me. Together we've collaborated on art and planned out what we are going to do. It's been quite the learning experience.
Hopefully after the event I will have more time to upload pictures of my ceramics and other art. On my list of things to do is to set up my very own art blog that I can post away with all my pictures. I need something I can have on a business card I can hand out to anyone and a link to my DA or FA isn't going to cut it for me.
Lastly, I hope to get together with other artists in my local area to have art jams and look at art together. I would like to start a small group of artists who could give each other feedback and learn from each other. One can dream! I know everyone is super busy, so we will see what happens in the future. Summer is coming, maybe I can arrange an outing to a lake or state park...

Questions for those who watch me.
General | Posted 10 years agoI'm sitting here thinking about what I want to work on next and it occurred to me that I should get some input from others.
So, for those who watch me, fave my art and generally enjoy seeing my art, what is it about my art that you like? What would you like to see more of? Would anyone be interested in more ceramics, paintings, or even sketches? Is anyone interested in commissioning me? Anyone want to trade? Should I experiment with mediums or subjects I've never done before? What of adoptables? YCHs?
I really need to find something I'm motivated to work on. After completing any piece, I think to myself, "What now?" because there's no more problems for me to solve.

Always learning
General | Posted 10 years agoI'm thinking about getting some watercolor paper soon. I've been having a lot of fun and success with my prismacolor markers but in many ways they are limited. What are some good types of watercolor paper? Also I think I should try loosening up with some of my art. I've been learning how to stay structured and tight with my designs but now I want to work on spontaneity. Lastly if anyone is up for an art trade or if anyone has a request I'm up for one or two. Give me something to practice with.
Staying Productive!
General | Posted 10 years agoNearly finished with my updated scale tutorial. I started one years ago and never finished it so I thought I should make a proper one. I do plan on teaching soon so why not practice presenting information? Now all I gotta do is pass that damned CSET...
Other types of art
General | Posted 10 years agoI mention that I am a ceramic artist, would anyone be interested in seeing some of my ceramics? I like making sculptures of fantasy things, animals, as well as candle holders and other such nonsense. I have some of that type of art posted on my DA account http://drekena.deviantart.com/ as well as some non-furry art as well.
Right now I'm back at Fresno State taking one class and trying to get credit for another. I feel like I've been lagging on the creative side and I'm looking for more inspiration. A little random, but one thing I am trying to do eventually is to get a table somewhere and sell some fantasy art prints. I try to make every artwork complete and polished in case it can be made into a print.

Testing out commissions
General | Posted 10 years agoI thought I would try my hand at commissions so I'm currently working on getting that set up and sorted out. Any thoughts, comments, or advice is welcome as I am pretty much brand-new at this.
