"Giz keeps popping up every now and then, that's weird?"

Working the way i do isn't really socials-friendly, and honestly more of a bad habit to get rid of.
I don't really like to share WIP's and only share works once they're entirely done.

It's bad when working on big +20 pages projects and telling myself "Everything will be released at once, when it's done!"

It's bad when jumping left and right on things i feel like doing, there's leftover works that aren't 100% finished, and they pile on.
Boy they keep on piling on.

The backlog is real, and it's a scary sight after two years to look back on a folder of unreleased art.
Now i have like, 50-ish unreleased WIPs (27 comic pages inside it) a humongous pile of doodles and artworks and i have no idea what to do with em'

There's promising stuff in it too, and i'm like "Yeah, i should turn this into a fully rendered illustration".
But uh, telling myself that for multiple works just leads me to feeling disorganized and overwhelmed.

Let's just do things.

Man, i gotta say, submitting mature works actually takes serious confidence.
It's not like drawing explicit content scares me, it's just that when the work is done and I'm about to submit it, i feel guilty?
Must just be a matter of getting used to it.


I'm aware that i could always stick to what i usually do, but i actually need to push myself for upcoming content and art generally speaking, so i gotta get out of the comfort zone.


I'm almost done with the "POWER BOMB" sequence, and one of my two upcoming projects after it is something more story-related, a bit longer too.
Everything is super experimental and i'm still testing the waters, so we'll see how it goes!


There will also be full rendered works of characters every now and then.

Been a while, hasn't it?

I have times where i don't feel productive, and other times where i can spend my entire day making art.
Discipline is a hard thing, it's like you have to keep a streak of productivity and hope nothing interrupts you while you work, otherwise you forget what you were doing and everything just gets sluggish to a halt.

I actually have quite the art backlog when it comes to this, so that's a bit awkward. Hopefully i'll submit everything i haven't shared so far in the future.

Aside from that, I'm working on three comics at once (geez) and i'm experimenting with a faster art style to avoid taking forever to finish them, one of them is "POWER BOMB", which is ongoing as i'm writing this, it'll have a bit of everything, i like experimenting and training myself after all!

I'll use my usual full rendered style for the best looking shots in them, what matters to me the most at the moment is keeping a consistent activity art-wise.

What the hell happened ?

I honestly don't know what to say anymore.
It's as if, whenever i'd like to do personal projects...

*sigh* Life happened. And it always does whenever i least want it to.
It's as if i constantly jinx myself when i feel like i have the right moment to actually do stuff, and then boom !

I spent half of 2021 trying to set my own life up, despite the lack of pretty much anything that would help me and...
time just flew away while my mind was with IRL working.

And ugh, it takes so much time to find work when you don't have much experience, and...
(boring adulting thingamajig venting)

Flatsharing's fun and all when you start up from 0, but it quickly becomes less fun when you share a single room with someone, and you're constantly getting interrupted (and i got just the proof of how it makes me feel with this http://blog.idonethis.com/distractions-at-work/) and also, you don't have any privacy, and working all day makes you exhausted, and...

Anyway that was my last few months.
I feeel like it would be better to hold any kinds of promises yet with upcoming ideas...
Oh right ! i'm still alive, that's that, i guess.

A random fun fact !

I cannot look at my old art.
Whenever i do, i feel kind of embarassed.
I would be lying if i didn't feel like "starting up all over again on a clean slate" every now and then, but as i'm writing this sentence a friend is holding me at gunpoint, blabbering something like "DONTYOUDARETOUCHYOURARTANDLEAVEITALONE"

So i guess it isn't an option.

I'll let you know that i appreciate the interest you have in me, and it's kinda touching to know that i do have some people worrying/thinking about me.

Hmhmhm, hi there !

Another monthly update to say, well, commissions are getting done here and there.
Pacing-wise, this end of month has high chances of being quite unpredictable, so keep your heads up if you're interested...in new slots.

Quick update for my current commissioners, but i got half of my responsibilities gone, which finally means free time for me to work on commissions and do new art !

Hope you're doing well !

Kinda hit a corner over here, i don't have much to say if it's to share some details about my life.
Might as well do it instead of vaguely sharing why i'm not as active lately.

I kinda had to move out of my small town last month for lack-of jobs reasons, mixed in with your average familial problems i'd just rather not deal with.
Couldn't bring much on me really, most of my stuff is still back at my home, such as my desktop.

As of now, i'm currently borrowing a friend's laptop to write this journal.
I did recently get a drawing tablet to get a way to get some digital work done, but...

Man, it's going to be difficult to do this when you're er, in the living room most of the time, living with 3 other acquaintances.
I'll try to find solutions.

Having my own laptop will be a good start !
Until then, i'll be saving up and drawing whenever i can, once i'll find a job back in the middle of yet another quarantine here...

Hello people, i hope you're all doing good.
I've been away for a month, with IRL stuff stepping in out of nowhere as it usually does.
It's in moments like these when i'm grateful of not being in the middle of something ongoing, if you know what i mean.

I'll explain myself.

Aside from some worries which already were taking some of my time, i've been trying to be productive in a way or another, and this month has been kind of focusing on training myself whenever i could with some fast doodling here and there.
It's difficult to work or finish full rendered art when you're in conditions where you can be interrupted every hour, it breaks your flow and efficiency, and it feels like you're taking longer "to get back" into said art than finishing it all with ease.

Depending on conditions, art time fluctuates a lot for me between projects.
Something i'm able of doing in one day, with two sessions, can also take me a whole week depending on said conditions.


Now, with that being said, here's the catch.
I can't ensure i'll be able of updating a ongoing drive weekly, over 5 weeks at the moment, with said conditions.
And i'd rather respect my schedule than randomly updating it weeks later if life stuff grabs me by the legs and, i don't know, drags me all over the place.
Besides, i've learnt that making progress on art when you're not "feeling it" leads to rougher results, and can burn you out quicker.

It's why most experienced artists say that discipline is what makes someone productive, not waiting for that "productivity rush" that comes and go every now and then.

But, discipline, such as being productive daily, requires a lot of free time, so there will be moments where you have to do with what you have.
(It's basically how things were for me in December, putting more than 3 artworks in a month is basically a miracle for a slower paced artist like me)

I'd rather play the waiting game and ensure the quality stays consistant between my works, avoid letting people wait for a promised part when stuff happens to, only after then, explain myself.
Besides, i've been training to make sure the things i have learnt will come in handy later.




While i cannot promise in doing 5 artworks because of the drive over 5 weeks, i'll see if i can work on some commissions so that art is still made.



Meanwhile, i've been training a bit on muscles, trying to get that more organic, realistic and natural feel instead of the current stylized approximation i have.
I'm sure it'll be helpful !

Merry Christmas and holidays to you, i hope you appreciate your gifts, and that you've been lucky with what you've received.

The Twitter poll has decided that Bowser will be the main drive character.

When will said drive begin ? Probably next month, or when i'll be used to make art of him.
That big dad king koopa has such a poofy round snoot, it's quite the challenge to make it look right.

Expect some basic art of him for now, with Kass getting by too, so that i get some time to train myself some more until then.
And when i say "basic art" i mean of course, there will be a good round gut to come with it !


I don't have much to say at the moment, but if you're interested in COM's, you might want to keep an eye on my closed slots...

Hello there !
So the OC art phase is here, and i'm already halfway done with Mazekio.
Well, i'm actually talking about the sequence starting for him, which will last 4 parts. (Meet Mazekio 4 to 8)

Character's here to stay though, so expect art of him every now and then when i'm not doing fanart or commissions.


That is, figured i should do something else for a change even though i've had the chance to be exceptionally active (Doing daily art these last 4 days is a first for me, but i've got the opportunity to just spend the whole day drawing without being interrupted so...)


This is a chance to do something different in the meantime.


I've thought of doing a second drive that is more accessible to people than the first one, mostly because it wouldn't be entirely donation-based but Twitter based.

I'm not sure what happened these last three months here.
Got some personal family-related stuff happening in July, and work-related stuff happening all over August to one week ago.
I had to spend most of my time on professional work-related projects and didn't even feel time go by, next thing you know, well, i kind of panicked when i noticed that three months have already passed, and that i basically disappeared from the face of the world.

No, i'm not leaving FA or anything, if you're wondering. It won't happen.
Let's just say that i wish i was two different people so that i could spend more time working on stuff here.
Because, frankly, these last few months, i've been kind of all over the place.
Guess i'm finally getting hit by the consequences of current events.

Anyway, i'm back, hopefully i can get some art done before huh...i get dragged into more IRL stuff out of nowhere.

Still getting through art with homemade stuff in the works, i'm working on getting back to a more comfortable art submission rate.
I've read your ideas in the previous post, and will take inspiration from it once i'll run out of it.
As usual, some progress as been made, but the month is not over : There will be another submission before the end of June !

I've been focusing on quality instead of quantity to train myself on details and improve.
Some of the ongoing art has taken me quite some time to do, hopefully i'll get done with them ASAP !

Heya there, i hope you're all doing well.
As i'm writing this, i'm still working on the conclusive part of the drive, but i'll be certainly late for multiple reasons.
As some would notice, i've been particularly active since current events, making art once to twice every ten days.
It isn't a rate i'm used to, and i've been feeling it's consequences slowly creeping up on me after seven or so works :

-Feeling sluggish, less productive, making less progress and taking more time per art, taking more breaks...

I'm kinda worried because i've still got a lot of art to do, and i'm trying my best to avoid burnouts. I've been feeling more tired lately though.

So, as you would know, FA got quite hit by technical problems lately, which unfortunately happen.
Since the website was down for quite a while, i'll have to move the next part of the Donation Drive one day later (1st March instead of 29 February)

Why the extra wait ?

I usually let 10 days pass between donation drive parts to reach the most people.
Even if some would love it, i doubt people would appreciate my work as much as they do if i did it in a fairly frequent manner ?
I mean, i'm still trying to find the best balance between art quality and art quantity so...
Anyway, i still need to fund myself a proper computer made for 3D animations, and the donation drive plays its part on it !
That's why i let some time between parts.

I'm making a second way to win a free commission starting on round five, which is "Most rounds held as top donator"

I'm limiting the commissions won to 1 per people though, just because if i ever feel like doing a drive again in the future, i don't want the possibility of someone hoarding all the prizes for themselves. Gotta give a chance for the others.

So i changed my monitor settings to be a bit more accurate, and just noticed that most of my art is incredibly dark.
Like, gothic dark or something.
You know, it's something i really didn't do on purpose.

Oh well, i'm dumb.

-New art, from this point, will be more accurate to what i was striving for.
-Also updated some drawing parameters, shading will get smoother and less rough.

I've been away these three last months for work, was far from home and didn't have opportunities to be productive here.

This will change though (i hope because adulting, work and responsabilities kinda suck)

Anyway, i'm currently working on an charizard inflation animation that's taking wayyyy too long to render.
You'll see the animation soon enough, i'm close to being done with it. Even if i have to let it run overnight for only 300 frames but that's okay the animation is over one minute, is in 720p30fps and rendered with Blender's Cycles


I've been thinking about doing a donation drive to upgrade my computer. Better parts meaning better performances render-wise would give me more opportunities to render work faster, in better quality (even 1080p) and you know, possibly make more animations in the future (with the small time frame i could have with jobs)


As of now, i consider making a Donation Drive that's 9 parts long + a final update part, lasting three months. That's 3 parts of art sequences per month ! "The Greedy Wolf" in my gallery will be the character that i'll be using. The drive starts the 10/01/20.


Well, if you ever think about donating to the soon-to-come donation drive, it will greatly help ! And if you don't, i atleast hope the charizard animation that's coming out soon will make you consider it ! All donations help.
