Venting the artistic spleen.
Posted 18 years agoIt is funny how when you look over your old art, you wonder what posessed you to do it, and why some mistakes won't just go away. I guess it is the rote of being on a site where the artists are as diverse as sand on the beach. So many times have I've opened up an old sketchbook, look upon the created and picked up pencil to sketch in a new book, a fresh new look, only to stop at bare construction lines and blank expressions. The magic and spontanious energy of creation flows slowly and in one fit of futility, you pick up the eraser and wipe out 10 minutes of work, to start fresh or take a break. A time could come when you may realize that posting old art is a blessing and a curse, two headed with only one intent, to entertain if possible. There is only so much old art that can be posted before one must consider posting new stuff. I can't quote the one who said it was going to be easy, all I can say that is is going.
Starting that 12 step program.
Posted 18 years agoThey say that once you learn to ride a bicyle, it is hard to unlearn it. Well, back in 2000 I tried to unlearn art so I can relearn how to draw right. Needless to say you can't unlearn the stuff. I more or less gave myself a second chance when I joined FA figuring that given time, I will begin to produce like I did in the old days. Hence why I chose to post old art first before anything new. I thought it would be nice to spring the stuff on the unsuspecting crowd, to guage their reaction and finally come to grips that I'm not hot stuff. Well, the fresh eyes was welcoming, it gave me enough incentive to at least try to produce again.
All I ask is for those watching to bear with me, let me get this out of my system and start up fresh. Sometimes the oldies are the goodies.
