General | Posted 14 years agoYeah, for Saturday (and maybe a wee bit of Sunday), I'll be at Anthrocon.
Maybe I'll see you there? Maybe not. We'll see.
Lookout for a tall black dude (surprised? V: ) wearing all blue, including either a blue Chicago cap or a green Philly Eagles Cap most likely hanging in the game room. There's a 9 out of 10 chance that'd be me.
Let's shoot the breeze, play some Smash Bros. MvC3, Street Fighter, or whatever other Vidja Game, let's art trade! Let's rock and roll!
BONUS CHALLENGE: If you can find me and give me some new and unused plastic straws, I will draw you a free sketch of [almost] whatever you want. No lie. V:

tl;dr: Stuff on the way! Hang tight, plz!
Yeah, its been long enough. Already 2 weeks of my summer gone. Though it was nice just to max and relax. But I can't let one more summer go by without any real projects started and/or completed!
Of course the main thing I've been waiting for was an HP Pavillion tx2000 Tablet PC I scored on ebay. It finally arrived on Friday and I am loving it (for the most part)! I've successfully got SAI and Flash running on it. All I need now is to get my old Photoshop running on it and I'll be golden!
Plans for the summer: Animations, comics, DASH! (I want to), Website (hopefully), commissions (eventually)!
On a side note, I FINALLY got to play (and beat) Portal 2. So good. Sooooooo good. Its one of the few games that I actually paid good attention to and laughed at the dialogue. And that ending song. Better than the first game (IMO).
Anyway, yeah, let's try to make the most out of a summer for once.
LET'S GO!

There's something about a new One Piece intro...
General | Posted 14 years ago...that gets me really pumped to do more drawing and animating... I know I'm weird. :I
https://youtu.be/yi-4AEXWnvw
I still stick to the belief that a quality anime/cartoon opening is an art form in itself if done correctly. Like a neat little music video. :D How 'bout an animation/animators group for FA?
General | Posted 14 years agoFA has a heck of a lot of groups, varying from specific genders, to sexual preferences, to fetish preferences, to gourmet stuffs, to exercising, to gaming, to what-have-you. But as far as the regular art stuff goes, I don't think I've seen any groups based around animators and the overall interest of animation.
So the first question:
Is there an active animation group somewhere around FA?
And if not,
Would anyone be interested in seeing and/or joining such a group?
I figured it'd be a pretty neat way for animators spanning from fans of the art, to budding beginners all the way to professionals to get together to trade tips, experience, knowledge and [possibly] collaborate on various projects. Along with that, there could be links to animators and animations all around FA and even outside of the site. Maybe even tutorials if possible.
So, what are your thoughts? Would making such a group be worth the trouble?

Any tips for 3D modeling and animation?
General | Posted 14 years agoSo for the longest I've been wanting to get into 3D modeling. You know, expand my abilities, open new doors, explore new horizons and all that jazz.
I downloaded the free modeling program Blender, and took a few tutorials to gain an understanding of the User Interface.
Now I'm at the point where I'm ready to start modeling, but I'm not quite sure how to piece it all together. Mainly the eyes and mouth, which are two very important and crucial parts to a character.
For a character model being built for animation, is it better to include the eyes and mouth with the overall model, or is it better to leave the eyes out (only leaving sockets) and omit the mouth during the initial modeling phase, then just add them afterwards?
Also, for anyone who does 3D model, how does your modeling process go from start to finish?
What general (even if they are obvious) tips do you have for a 3D modeling/animation n00b?
Thanks in advance for any advice or tips. :D

A little note for the Singles and Couples this V-Day
General | Posted 15 years agoLets start off with this:
https://youtu.be/4m1EFMoRFvY
I'm not trying to send any message, I just really like the song. :3
Anywho~
For the Single Folks
So its another year without a significant other. Don't worry, there's thousands of others there with you. Ironically, you're not alone. :V But seriously, don't hate on this holiday just because you don't have anyone to screw tonight. Or that there's no guy or girl giving you chocolate, flowers, or presents today. Refrain from drawing emo pics and typing emo journals. Put down the H8r-ade! You are in your rights to mope and complain all you want, but why not put that energy to use? You wanna have that GF/BF next V-Day? You gotta play the game of love again, yo. And 9 times out of 10, you gotta make the first move.
Even if you don't have that significant other, you still have friends and family that most likely love you. Even if THEY didn't get anything for you, why not let THEM know how much you appreciate them and love them? A simple, "Happy Valentines Day!" can lift up anyone's spirit! Especially from one single person to another! Unless you're a cynical punk, then just don't bother getting out of bed today/tomorrow. >:[ And don't say you don't have anyone. Everyone has SOMEONE. Even net friends count. Maybe even that one dude you just say "Hey" to and that's all. Let them know! They do say V-Day has one of the highest suicidal rates. You could very well save a life! Seriously!
For the Couples
I shouldn't have to tell you guys anything. Don't let this holiday get the best of you. Its not about the gift, its the thought, blah, blah blah. But seriously, show your significant other you care about them and love them, but don't let the whole idea of spending and expensive gifts screw with your mind or ruin your day.
Also, take the time to tell your family and friends how much you care about them too. I'm sure they'd love to hear from you too.
----
Well that's my Fiddy Cent. To all my friends, watchers, and lurkers (lol),
Happy Valentines Day! <3
And BTW, I'm single too. Ladies~ ;Y

[Complete]Alternate account and future commission concerns
General | Posted 15 years agoGood lord, I've been dancing around this subject for who knows how long now... but at the rate things are going, its gonna be known about sooner or later over here. I'm just gonna have to swallow my pride, close my eyes, and go for it... and hopefully not tear this journal down in the next 5 minutes. :V
I have an alternate account. Its got "different" and, somewhat more "adult" shenanigans in a mix of commissions and personal work, so click at your own discretion:
dweet-tea
Aside from me bringing this up, it also leads me to concerns about future commissions. I was thinking of placing all later commissions (Clean and Mature) over on that account, while keeping this account clear for my clean personal work.
On one hand, this'll give my own characters and works a better chance to shine and not get mixed up in the midst of other peoples' characters (not counting gift art or trades). On the other hand, for the amount of clean commissions I may get, I'd hate for some viewers and watchers to have to trudge through the "different" stuff just to get to the clean commissions, regardless of whether they have the mature tag off or on. I guess if I really wanted to show off my personal works, I should just make a portfolio website or something... I don't know...
What do you guys think? I'd like to get all this sorted out before I open up for regular commissions again. :I

Retro Game Streaming Now and tonight! (All Done!)
General | Posted 15 years agoFinal Update: Thanks for tuning in guys! Lots of fun, a wee bit painful... but all well worth it. :D
UPDATE: Kirby starting now! Head on in! :O http://www.livestream.com/dtfaux
UPDATE: The Pulseman Play through was fun. Thanks for tuning in guys! Come back at 7PM (EST) for Kirby Super Star! :D
Yup, taking a little time to stream a few more games like that Sonic Colors stream I did a few months back. Its gonna be awesome! And with live commentary [to a certain extent]. So you can ask questions or just chat and stuff. :V
I'm kicking things off with
Pulse Man around 12:30PM (EST) when enough people show up.
Then later I'm gonna do
Kirby Super Star @ 7PM (EST).
And if I haven't gone crazy by then, I'll do
Tiny Toons: Buster's Treasure Hunt after Kirby Super Star.
So tune in here: http://www.livestream.com/dtfaux
The only things I ask is to keep conversations clean and family friendly in case any kiddies show up.
See ya there!

Alright, here's the plan!
General | Posted 15 years agoSo I, like, totally noticed I haven't updated with a game plan in the longest. So here's what's up so far
Got School'd
So I didn't get accepted into that art school I wanted to get into. *Bawww* But its all good! I plan to re-apply for this coming fall. And I'm 100% I'll get in next time! :D Oh yeah, there was a lesson in this: a decent GPA is important. Even for an art school.
Sticking the Course
I want to get more animations, comics, and projects done which means I'll be slowing down on pictures for a bit. Not like there was much being submitted over here, but there'll be more "progressive" submissions now. Most likely if there are pictures they'll either be of the commissioned, traded, or gift art variety.
And the series that are at the top of my priority are: Lv. UP! (animation), Dora-gon (comic[?]), JetFox (comic), and Odd Job Otters (Comic/Animation). I'm already making headway with planning, especially with
's help on Lv. UP!, but unfortunately, no real pictures or anything to show off yet. But soon enough, folks!
DASH!
At the risk of adding more work to my plate, I've been thinking of getting back on DASH!. I've actually been thinking of turning it into a website rather than a magazine/publication. It'd still need a good amount of team work, but it'd still be a nice project to have under many folks belt.
A few things that would be needed are:
*Animators or comic artists with their own ideas for entertainment content; preferably original non-copyright content.
*Entertainment reviewers (music, movie, tv, video games, etc)
*One or more people(s) who have some website building/designing skills.
*A good [cheap or free] web host. If you know of any, let me know!
If you wanna join in on the crusade or just wanna find out more info, drop me a comment or note!
Commissions
Still closed for now, but I do plan to open them back up in the next month. Anyone still interested, keep an eye out. :D
---
Well that's all I got. *insert positive, encouraging closer here*

I need a webhost and want a Cintiq! :[
General | Posted 15 years agoAnyone know any good (cheap or free) web hosts for webcomics and/or personal works? I have big plans for the upcoming year!
I also want a Wacom Cintiq 12WX. Its like the well known tablet, except you can actually draw ON THE SCREEN! Anyone know any good computer/electronics site that sells products for much cheaper than regular retail stores? Heck, I'll even take a REFURBISHED model! But I'm not gonna do Ebay.

That is allAaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnd back! Also a shoutout to da homies!
General | Posted 15 years agoWow, what a week! Let's see if I can describe the past week without crossing the tl;dr line.
-Traveled 6 hours with my bro to meed up with our Mum to get on a cruiseto find One Piece.
-Had all intention to do a bunch of digital art, but forgot my A/C adapter for my laptop, so had to deal with my sketch book (and forgot my color pencils too...) *sketch dump soon to come*
-Had no internet for a frickin' week!
-Got seasick the first 2 days...
-Ate... a LOT... like, a lot-a-lot-a-lot-a-lot. And kept it down. :V
-Got to jet ski! Tried to get close to a few taxi boats, but then whimped out out of fear of getting in trouble. But MAN, I was jetting!
-Watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on TV. And believe it or not, there were Pokemon floats! And they were relevant to the upcoming Black and White versions!
-Had a Thanksgiving dinner... it SUUUUUUCKED. My family can back me up on that...
-Ate some moar.
-Road 6 hours back to campus.
-And here we are!
All in all, twas a fun trip. If you ever get a chance to take a cruise, Carnival is a pretty good company to go with. The semester's ending soon, so its also crunch time to study, study, study! AND I'm taking a shot and applying to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). I'm beginning to feel like cartooning/art is my bigger passion and going to SCAD would earn brownie points with some/any companies and studios, so fingers crossed ladies and gents.
And as said in the previous journal, another year older means more responsibilities and less room to make excuses and running out of time to make something of myself (although some folks would say 20 is still pretty young). I refuse to go "down" without making my mark! So time to get serious!
Projects
Work
Classes
Social Life
LETS GO!!! ...I wonder how long this enthusiasm's gonna last?...
Also thank you folks below who gave me a happy B-day on the previous journal! Definitely added awesome sauce to my return! :D
*If I forgot to mention anyone, let me know*
EDIT: GAWD I'm such a selfish punk! Here I am blabbing about all the crap I did, and I forgot to ask how was you guys' Thanksgiving?

Turned 20 on the 20th. lol
General | Posted 15 years agoYeah, so I'm, like, technically not a teen anymore, but I'm not a full-on adult either. Both legally and mentally. :V
And considering 20 years is 1/5 of a century, I think its time to step it up. I've been drawing for 6 years now, and I've yet to complete any real projects aside from a few minor animations and short comics... although being able to do commissions is a step in SOME direction.
So its time to get serious! Time to get tough! No more kitty-footing around! This is it! My time to shine!
... after I get back from a little trip!
See you guys in a week and happy Thanksgiving (or good week if you don't celebrate it).

DT Let's Plays Megaman Legends!
General | Posted 15 years agoSo yeah, aside from studying for stuff, I've been a bit addicted to doing "Let's Plays". Probably one of the most pointless and nerdiest thing a person can do. It does make for good practice, though. I mean at the beginning, I was pretty nervous and shy, I was breathing into the mic pretty hard, and the quality wasn't the best.
By the last episode I had [slightly] more confidence in talking, and better knowledge on how to edit audio and video correctly. Overall it was a fun run. And best of all, people who don't own/want to play/can't find Megaman Legends can actually see all it has to offer without having to fork over any of their own cash!
I'm just gonna leave some of my personal favorite episodes here... in no specific order. Naturally there will be spoilers.
And now that I'm actually done with that little project, new pics are soon to come, I promise! :V

Let's Play Yoshi Story!
General | Posted 15 years agoHeya kids! Wanna hear your favorite artist mumble commentate while playing through a good ol' vidja game? Well check out my Let's Plays! What's a "Let's Play" you ask? You may have to look up the definition... I don't quite know how to properly explain it. :V
Any way, here's my play-through of Yoshi Story! Sorry in advance for the poor AV quality.
And there's totally more on my EweToob Channel. Currently playing through Megaman Legends and Metroid: Other M. And coming soon: a One Night Stand of StarFox 64!

So I went to Anime Weekend Atlanta...
General | Posted 15 years ago...And it was awesome!
*Caught up with my bro to have a laugh and a half over at a "Totally Lame Anime" Panel.
*Hit up the Dealer's Room to get a Sonic the Hedgehog wallet, a Sonic beach towel, and some One Piece x Dragon Ball Z model.
*Went to the Game Room to kick butt and get my butt kicked in Smash Bros. (got to keep my seat for a good while)
*Attended a Smash Bros. Tournament and got LUCKY for, like, 3 rounds before getting knocked out during my 4th match. I gotta check the rules next time before I fork over some entree money. :V
*Didn't get a chance to hang out with
peacemaker9669 but we probably did pass each other at some time.
*Went to a midnight rave/dance party with my friend
cj-fox. Man, we were starting trends and just being wild. And I don't even go to dance parties that often!
So with a sore body, loss of voice, and a near empty wallet, I can say I had a great time! Now its time to get back to life and work.
Can't wait til Momo-con and FWA next year.
On an unrelated note: The big 3DS announcement is in 9 days!

General | Posted 15 years agoAaaaaa, progress: its yet to be made... again! Its like for the past few weeks, my motivation kinda just up and left me. Its weird, because when school rolls around, I tend to get more stuff done.
Well lets try to get back in it for, like, the 100th time. I mean, people are waiting! All 2 of them!
Expect stuff and then some this week!
Also if you can guess what this journal's title refers to, you get a free sketch or w/e.
Edit: I actually meant first person to guess right. Other wise er'body might get one. :V

OMG Scott Pilgrim! :O
General | Posted 15 years agoJust came back from a midnight showing of the movie and it was AWESOME!
You're wondering what Scott Pilgrim is about? Here's the plot in a nutshell (video from the video game):
https://youtu.be/Yebw9e3iTfI
And here's the Movie Trailer:
https://youtu.be/7wd5KEaOtm4
Usually I'm not the biggest fan of Hollywood adaptations, but I was REALLY itching to see this movie. :D I'm also not really a fan of Michal Cera, but he played the role of Scott pretty well (IMO). And so many video game references and jokes. That, itself, made the movie worthwhile! I don't think its gonna get movie of the year or any big Oscars, especially with Inception and The Expendables coming out in the same year, but if you're a gamer, or a fan of the Scott Pilgrim graphic Novel, or even a fan of what's supposed to be a Boy-meets-girl love story, definitely check this movie out!
Also to keep plugging this series, a game version of Scott Pilgrim came out for the PS3 and is soon coming out for the Xbox 360. For a game, based off the movie, based off a book series, it turned out pretty well. And if not anything else, the music even reaches back to the good ol' days. If you're a fan of old fashion beat-em-ups (like River City Ransom, Streets of Rage, or Turtles in Time) you'll definitely enjoy this game.
And for the final plug, the movie and game's based off the graphic novel, so like always, there's some stuff that both other medias don't cover. At least do the creator justice, why don't ya? :V
Oh, would you look at that. My summer break's over... back to school.

General | Posted 15 years agoCurse you Katy Perry! I swear, my ride home, all the songs sounded the same, though some were catchy. :V And when the heck did Eminem come back?? And with 2 or so songs on the radio at the same time, no less!
Anyway, just got back from a family trip to Maple Land. America's hat. Canada! What went down, you may be wondering?
*Went up at peak time of Caribana; a festival celebrating all the West Indies/Caribbean countries. Man, people were wild! And the chicks weren't too bad looking either. *nyo-ho!~*
*Got to visit family for to the first time up there. Got to learn a little more family history (which was well worth the trip in itself). Turns out I got Indian blood in me (Native type). I find that quite cool.
*Went to the CN tower, that place is HUGE! The only thing I was thinking was "pleasedonttipoverpleasedonttipover..."
*Pigged out on Belgium waffles 3 nights in a row. That mess was GOOD!
All in all it was a good trip. There was a DA friend I'd have liked to have met while over there (he knows who I'm talking about :V ) but I had no time. Ah, well. Maybe next time
So after a 15 hour drive, I am back and I will respond and commentimmediately later. And yes! New pictures! 2 weeks left! Summer's running short!

Anime intros and endings
General | Posted 15 years agoTL;DR: My ramblings thoughts on cartoon and anime intros and credits and stuff. Plus videos at the bottom
For a good few years now, I've been really into anime intros and endings. There's just something about them that are really cool to watch. Even a bit motivational as far as art goes.
Most American shows, nowadays, seem to make their intros and credits as an after thought. Usually with passionless songs lasting no longer than a minute. And most of those songs seem to be nothing but guitar riffs and people repeating the name of the show over and over again.
But Japan, cartoon intros and closings are practically an art form! Every season (sometimes every new story arc) there's a new opening sequence. And for every new opening they have a new song, made by real bands and music groups.
Take One Piece's 11th and 13th opening for example:
https://youtu.be/zMFbzlmNOhM
https://youtu.be/3JMpVYO-ZHw
Now that series is so big (running over 10 years), their opening is over 2 minutes long! They actually do this so that they don't have to worry about making any end credits. But the animation quality is actually higher than a lot of the in show animation, itself. And the songs are sung by Japanese groups called Tohishinki (for the 11th Op) and The Rootless (for the 13th).
One neat thing about a lot of anime intro/credit songs is that the songs are actually vague/open ended enough to be made into real songs, as if they weren't part of the anime to begin with.
Like how Tohoshinki did with theirs (yes they're a boy band):
https://youtu.be/2AfIQX8YUVw
Basically any band that makes a song for a show can make more money selling singles separate from the show. Not only that, but if the show is popular enough, that'll give them huge "ups" in publicity and popularity. Like how an actor guess stars in a popular show.
I sometimes wonder why America doesn't give their cartoons the same treatment, but then I remember so many reasons. Not a lot of North American shows seem to last that long. Quality intros require a good amount of time and money. Channels need space for commercials. Its also hard to make epic openings when your show is mostly made in flash (Here's looking at you Total Drama Island). And most producers seem to discount the idea since they don't think kids will notice if the quality is cheap.
More and more, it seems like American animation is so about business and cutting corners, that artistic integrity and passion for animation is becoming up and forgotten. Sure you save money, but when does it stop becoming frugal, and start becoming greedy?
Well that's all I got to say. Here's a few other anime intros I find cool.

No AC for me, bawww... But heck yeah 3DS! :D
General | Posted 15 years agoAC
Yup, it was already a deal breaker hearing that the Brawl Tourney was gonna be Friday night, when I was really shooting for Saturday for Anthrocon. But thanks to a "calandlaric" error,
cj-fox is coming in that Saturday. So yup, no AC for me. And its probably for the best anyway. Gotta save my cash and whatnot. Maybe next year. And there is still AWA this fall, back down in GA. Maybe I'll see you guys there.
3DS
On a lighter note, I'm sure anyone who saw E3 last week knows about the 3DS, and I want one SO HARD! D: I mean I haven't been this excited for a portable system since the original DS! And one with graphics almost as good as the Wii, PLUS 3D that doesn't require the glasses??! Boy howdy! What's even better is that we could be getting it as soon as this holiday season (but March 2011 the latest). I gotta save up!

Yeah, I already know this is TL;DR. Just skim the bold subtitles for what interests ya.
Oh shoot, not this guy...
My old school homie
cj-fox is coming up later this month. Gonna hit up the theme parks and go buck wild! And by "buck wild", I mean watching Lifetime, eating bon-bons and drinking Teatly tea. :V
AnthroCon?
The downside of spending my summer up north is that I've had to leave my friends behind down south, so most of the time I'm kinda stuck doing nothing, cause what fun is doing stuff if not with friends? Or at least people you know will like the same thing.
So basically, I'm planning to go to AnthroCon on Saturday (the 26th) as a means to get out of the house. It's not official whether I can go or not, but if I can, maybe I'll see you then, yes?
Good on ya Pixar! (Toy Story 3)
Wow, I just saw a TV commercial based off one of the characters in the upcoming Toy Story 3. The fact that they didn't put in the TS3 or Pixar name within the commercial means they tried to go viral, but its so impressive how they make the commercial look so retro! Check it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6dZtNYGlLM And for the weeboos out there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5ZwkcHCVkE&feature=related
Making things look old is gonna be the new trend this decade, I just know it.
The Karate Kid
It was an awesome movie! I'm always a fan of motivational movies like these. And turns out this movie is one of Hollywood's attempts to resurrect a classic movie. Usually I hate whenever Hollywood does that, but this one turned out extremely well! And for Will Smith's son (Jayden Smith) to star in his own movie, it was really enjoyable! And just about anything with Jackie Chan always adds to a good time. :D And if that's not enough, the fighting looks real enough with heavy hits and the comedy isn't just cheap, dry attempts like most other family movies lately.
Go check it, yo!
Commissions left to do
Alright, I've danced around doing commissions over here for way too long. I don't even know if some of the folks still want their stuff done now, or what. Either way, here's a list for organizational purposes and to let you know where you stand (though this isn't in any real order)... And if you do want off the list, just note me. I'm gonna shoot to get the pics done by the end of next week, hopefully. As for future commissions (if anyone is actually interested) I'm currently closed for now, but keep watch for when I may open again. :D
