Birthday Spotting! (4 September 2015)
Posted 10 years agoFirst, I'd like to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. I greatly appreciate each and every one of them. :D <3
Second, I managed to get some awesome photos on Friday. The weather was cloudy with bits of sunshine here and there, and it was the clouds that made a good number of my photos more dynamic.
I'm currently going through them now. Will post em once they're all edited.

Posted 10 years agoJust letting you guys know that I'm officially 37-years-old as of today.
Most disturbing thing I've seen on CNN
Posted 10 years agoWhy did they have to show a photo of the boy that drowned and washed ashore
Anyway, there's a great deal of meaning behind the image

Southwest's "Triple Crown One" is now a 737-700.
Posted 10 years agoYup, captured this aircraft on Thursday while getting some departure photos at the Jack-in-a-box spotting location.
The aircraft is registered as N409WN.
The 737-300 that originally carried the livery may be in the process of being repainted, or perhaps the aircraft is expected to be retired soon.

I'm so happy!!
Posted 10 years agoI thought for sure that I lost my LAX photos from 2014, which included shots of the C-5C Galaxy and JASDF's Air Force One.
It turns out I had photos in a folder that has other shots from a few days of spotting.
This is great news since there's still a bunch of photos from that LAX trip that I haven't uploaded yet.

A second look
Posted 10 years agoHow many of you out there feel that some of the photos you took, or the art you created, could have been a little better?
As a photographer, I constantly look over folders and folders of photos I've taken since moving to Vegas. The photos I've uploaded on FA have also been look at.
I've come to realize that I could have presented them or edited them better. As far as capturing them is concerned, I could have taken more shots just to be safe.
While I have presented stellar photos of aircraft and other things, I am by no means perfect. There's still a few areas that need a bit of work, but overall, the changes and adjustments I've made have really shown in my most recent photos.
So with all that said, I plan on going through a good chunk of photos and re-editing them. Any and all re-posts will be labeled as "better quality". Currently working on the LAX photos I took in 2013; I feel that many of those photos I shared could have benefited from better editing on my end. I also plan to redo all photos that have texterizer filters and those makeshift tabs on the bottom of the image.
Because I have more than 100 folders of images, this project is going to take some time, but you'll be pleased with the results.
Lastly, thank you all for the watches, favs, and comments!! 😄❤️❤️

Virgin Atlantic 747-400 emergency landing (VS43)
Posted 10 years agohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoWS_SHe4gU
The above link was published on 29 December 2014.
It involves an aircraft (G-VROM) that normally flies the London-Las Vegas route, and it's one I've captured numerous times before.
The emergency landing was absolutely perfect, given the fact that the right outboard main gear was damaged during rotation and unusable.
If I find other interesting aviation videos, I'll share them with you guys.
I'll try to refrain from sharing accident videos (videos involving any form of fire and/or death).

Small photo hiatus
Posted 10 years agoBeginning next week, my time at the airport will be cut very short due to one of my dogs having surgery on his right hind leg.
Buddy has a torn ACL, and once the surgery is done, it'll be up to me and my family to ensure he doesn't do too much on that leg during the recovery process.
This could take a couple of weeks or more. But no worries, I still have plenty of photos I can share with all of you.
That is all! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :D

I also plan to upload a few other photos from Aviation Nation 2014.

Lots of photos from May 1st and May 3rd!
Posted 10 years agoThe recent Mayweather fight drew in a tremendous number of people, and private aircraft. I spent the last couple of days editing almost all the photos I took.
Needless to say, there will be plenty of uploads! :D

Possible External Hard Drive issues/Facebook
Posted 10 years agoBasically, some of the images simply will not load up i the photo editor. As far as how many images are affected, I've yet to find out.
As of now, I'm transferring the folders that have no problems to a different external drive. Once that's completed, I'll remove those files that have been transferred.
The goal is to run a disk check with as few files loaded into the troubling external HDD as possible, and hope that the files can be repaired.
The good news is that the airshow and 'Fifi' photos were uploaded into the laptop's HDD and not the external. The Viva Las Vegas photos from 2014 are also safe (I still have photos from it that haven't been posted yet). And finally, all photos of the 747SP and 'Air Force One' are still good.
I've been uploading photos on Facebook through different groups that I'm a member of. One of the groups is called Aviation Furs, and it's great for posting art, videos, and photos related to furries and aviation together. Other groups that I'm a part of include the DC-9 Fan Club, Boeing 737 Fan Page, Airliner/Freighter Photography, and Aviation photography is NOT a crime.
By the way, I have a folder with nearly 100 folders of photos. Total size is 205 GB, and total number of images is 28,858 (and keep in mind that there are at least 30-40 other folders that haven't been moved to the external HDD yet).

Fifi is coming back to Vegas!!!
Posted 10 years agoI just discovered that the world's only airworthy B-29 Superfortress, named 'Fifi', will be on display and provide flights on 25-29 March 2015 at Henderson Executive Airport. There will be other warbirds present as well, including a possible WWII Albatross.
Oh I'm so happy! I cannot wait!

Lots going on in the U.S.
Posted 10 years agoFolks being stranded on the highway overnight in Kentucky due to what is considered the worst winter storm, a Delta Airlines MD-88 skids off the runway and almost skids into icy waters at La Guardia, another oil train derails and catches fire near the border of Iowa, and Harrison Ford crash lands a vintage PT-19 at the 8th hole of a golf course in California after reporting loss of engine power.
Needless to say, it's been a hectic Thursday!

Picked up a new lens
Posted 10 years agoThe Nikon 55-300mm VR lens I own has a fault with its Vibration Reduction. It will either work or not work, and given the photos I take, the intermittent VR can be troublesome.
I now own a Tamron 70-300mm VC lens. I'll be shooting with it on Thursday.

Couple things
Posted 11 years agoFirst, I'm working on a bunch of aircraft photos from Thursday/2-5-2015. The photos came out looking awesome, thanks to the great weather and the angle of the sun.
Second, my 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse is finally paid off. I made the last payment earlier this week, so now I'm just waiting on the pink slip to come in the mail. I've had this car for almost five years, and it still runs amazingly well.
Stay furry my friends!! XD

Fresh aircraft photos coming soon!
Posted 11 years agoFirst, I'd like to wish everyone Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! May you have lots of fun, plenty of gifts, and time with your family and friends! And as always, my heart goes out to the men and women of the armed forces who couldn't be with their families during the holidays!
As for today's trip to the airport, it was amazing! Nearly all departures took off from runway 7R for the first time since I've lived in Vegas! 7L is normally the departure runway, but it's been under construction for two months now!
Also, the weather (while cold) was absolutely perfect!

Low-level clouds at McCarran International (Thursday)
Posted 11 years agothe weather for Thursday (4 Dec 2014) presented a challenge for pilots, and resulted in numerous delays, takeoff go-arounds, and diverted flights.
It presented me with a great opportunity to capture aircraft with condensation forming around the wings of the approaching aircraft. I'll share a few of these shots before uploading the Thunderbird photos.
For low-level clouds, there are two things you should keep in mind. First is visibility: there will be times when you won't see the jet until the time in which you normally take the first shot. In other words, be alert!
Second is the focus mode: under no circumstances do you want to use continuous focus. Doing so may result in the system re-focusing on the subject at the instant before you take the shot, resulting in a blurred image.
And because there's very little in the way of light, stick to using an ISO of 400 or better.
I'll probably select six or seven photos from Thursday, then begin uploading the Thunderbird pics! :D

ITT/Aviation Nation update
Posted 11 years agoIn just two weeks, the third quarter of ITT-Tech will end; the next quarter begins on 8 December. It means that I'll have a number of finals to study for.
As for the pile of photos from the previous weekend's airshow, I'll resume uploads beginning on Saturday. In regards to the Thunderbird photos, I plan on splitting those up between the ground show and the actual aerial demonstration.
