Convention Season Update
Posted 6 months agoGood morning clay fans!
2025 continues to be the year that keeps on giving, and I have not been accepted to any conventions.
However!
I will be attending Anthrocon with friends, so look for neon tiger Fen and please feel free to say hello! I'm excited to take in the con fully and perhaps...dare I say it...relax? Maybe I'll even make up a few clay goodies to hand out...
With con prep out of the equation, I'm going to be spending more time investing in the online side of the business. I'd like to open up commissions slots for clay convention badges as well as fursona and pet sculptures, with a better scheduling system so it's clearer when pieces will make their way home. The builds I have for the next few months are very detailed, and I'm excited to get started now that I'm out of my cast.
Hope you're having a great day!

It's Always Something
Posted 8 months agoI broke my wrist, and won't be sculpting for a while.
If you feel like supporting a sad, injured artist, I've got finished pieces on www.eclecticclay.com
Be back as soon as I can.

Eclectic Clay in 2025
Posted 9 months agoHappy New Year!
With the turn of the calendar comes the urge for life-changing resolutions, but I'd like to think 40 years on this planet has finally made me wiser. I commit to nothing officially, but I do have goals!
New art or WIPs will be posted on Wednesdays, and new jourals at the beginning of each month. My website will be updated with more recent sculpture photos, a gallery, and different price structures for commissions. Social media posting will be through Bluesky and Ko-fi. I'll post links below.
I'll also be working on new products - fursona busts and clay con badges/ornaments!
Finally, this is the year of molding and casting, with the ultimate goal of (hopefully) recreating an old ornament I've never forgotten for mass production this holiday season.
Wish me luck!

Merry Everything!
Posted 10 months agoIt's the holiday season, and I'm exhausted! When will I achieve the kind of balance that lets me flawlessly make art, post regularly, care for my family, and care for my health?
Probably never! Hahaha!
Still shopping? I've added all Space Critters and Anxious Eels to the shop at www.eclecticclay.com. Commissions, obviously, will not make it for the holiday, but if you're interested in purchasing for someone please let me know; I'm happy to send something you can present to show the recipient the incredible work that is coming!
Want clay news delivered right to your inbox? I have a mailing list! Join the State of the Clay for monthly updates on where I am, what I've made, and other fun.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, no matter what or how you celebrate, and look forward to failing more resolutions in the new year!

Fall fall faaaaaaaaaallllllllll
Posted a year agoThank you so much, Fursonacon, for a wild and wonderful weekend!
We're rolling towards fall and I have so much to tell you all, but it's going to take time for me get all these dang ducks in a row and quacking. Just wanted to give a quick heads up to expect lots of informational posts in the next few weeks about shop updates, mailing lists, commission deadlines, and a puppet!
The last one is not crucial but is very, very fun.

Eclectic Clay at Fursonacon update
Posted a year agoEDIT: IT'S NOT COVID! My son had a faintly positive test so I assumed, but since then no one else has had a positive test, him included.
Mark me among those who have fallen to the summer wave of Covid.
I'm not yet sure what this means for my attendance at Fursonacon; the current plan is to test the Tuesday before and proceed as planned if negative. If still positive, I'll see if I can find someone to go with my booth assistant to represent me. If not, I'll have to bow out.
It's painful to post this, honestly. I've been really looking forward to this con, for the chance to see my sister-in-law's house in person for the first time, to meet new people and maybe play some rpgs. I've been working really, really hard on a new show piece and was so genuinely excited to show it to everyone. That it's at risk is upsetting.
I can only deal with the reality of what's in front of me, though, so for now it's tea and rest, and entertaining the kids as we isolate. and setting up plan B. Wear those masks, folks.

I'm alive...
Posted a year ago....for some value of the word. It's been a rough one for the mental health, and I always forget just how much busier the summer is with kids.
My biggest piece ever just went out the door, so I'll be diving into pet figures for friends and Sci-Fi Valley Con attendees, while also (foolishly) trying to build a miniature tavern for Fursonacon to match the Dungeon Delver's theme, because why focus on one thing when you could focus on five?
I'll never learn, it seems.

Tell me about your favorite cons!
Posted a year agoA bit of bad news to share today - I've been wait listed for Anthrocon 2024. I really had such a good time last year, and was looking forward to building on what I'd learned in Pittsburgh, so I'm pretty bummed about the whole thing.
On the plus side, this means I can try something new! What other cons would you recommend for an East Coast clayer?

New Year, Same Artist
Posted 2 years agoHappy 2024, everyone!
Many of my pieces for 2023 were for the furry community, and it's been such a joy to work on your characters and pets. To everyone following along, my most sincere thanks, both for your presence and your patience as I fumble yet another form of technology.
While I'd love to make grandiose, sweeping plans for the new year, experience has taught me that life will inevitably find a way to wreck them. I do hope to be back at Anthrocon and to add another East Coast convention to my roster. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Commissions are open, as always, and I cannot wait to see what I'll be making this year.
Let's get to it!

A July Break
Posted 2 years agoBeing a parent and an artist is a constant back and forth, push and pull, and it can be exhausting.
I had a blast at Anthrocon, and feel ready to dive right back in to work! Unfortunately the art goes on hold once again; we've got summer camps and family vacations that demand my time and attention. Additionally, my studio is, quite literally, peeling off the back of my house, and needs to be emptied for renovations.
For these reasons, I am on a sculpting break until August. Taking my excitement for new commissions and ideas for cool new projects and putting them in a box for the time being is....well, it's frustrating, to say the least. Don't get me wrong, this was always the plan, but I don't think I accounted for the sheer amount of inspiration that would follow the convention!
For those who stopped by and said hello in Pittsburgh, thank you! Rest assured, I will be back next year, and am excited to broaden my con experience.
For everyone still reading, sit tight - new art is coming in August!

Eclectic Clay at Anthrocon!
Posted 3 years agoHappy New Year!
Apologies for the lack of posts; Covid finally kicked down my door, and the family and I spent the holidays in recovery. We're easing back into our regular routines, so I'm hoping for more time for art and posting.
In exciting news, I've been accepted to Anthrocon, so if you're in Pittsburgh, PA June 29-July 2, we can meet in person! I'm excited to vend for the first time in three years, and for my first big con EVER!
Speaking of first cons...being a primarily handmade business, my prep needs to start now. Help an artist out! What sort of things - aside from custom sculpture slots - would you want to see at my table?

Holidays? Holidays!
Posted 3 years agoFolks, it's September - let's talk holiday commissions!
Yes, yes, I know it seems early, but starting now is the best way to make sure you get your gifts on time and I don't dissolve into a ball of sobbing artist stress. Please, help me help you help us all!
So, why should you commission me? Here's two great reasons:
-Your gift will be 100% unique, never to be replicated!
-I will absolutely, without a doubt spend WAY MORE time than I should on your piece to get every detail right. I am not kidding. Overkill is my only mode.
Now, WHEN should you commission me? Today! Right now! Yesterday! AS SOON AS YOU CAN. Not only does my work take time to complete, it takes time to ship, and I have no control of your package once it leaves my hands. I wish I did! I am working on portal technology.
To sum up:
-I want to make you cool and unique gifts!
-I want them to reach you by the holidays!
-If you've been thinking about a commission, please DO IT NOW!
Thank you!

I'm very new to Fur Affinity, and very slow on the technological uptake, so bear with me as I figure out what the right buttons are to click to show you my work and accept commissions. Cheers!
