Awesome artist needs help!
Posted 6 years agoOne of my favorite artists,
ReggaeCyp, is in financial straits at the moment. I owe a lot to her, given that she designed the refsheet for my main fursona, and is overall a wonderful person.
She does amazing work and very expressive characters, including screenshots that seemed pulled straight out of an old Don Bluth cartoon.
If you can afford it, I highly suggest commissioning her: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9069517/

2018 in review
Posted 7 years agoThis is the first journal I've written, but given it's the end of the year, there's a lot I want to talk about.
At the beginning of this year, I was still in the same state I was for the last few years, just another lurker here on FA. I had completely kept to myself, and had never told anyone about being a furry, to the point that I didn't talk to other furries out of anxiety. It was this anxiety that made me decide I needed help, so I began seeing a therapist at the beginning of the summer.
She was the first person I ever told that I was a furry. Thanks to her, she made me realize that it is a part of my identity and encouraged me to develop a fursona and become active in the community. It was soon after that I contacted an artist for my first commission of my character, Andy Dershon, and posted this picture at the beginning of July.
Since that time, I've fully become more involved in the community, and through that, I've met some really awesome people. When I first became active, I wasn't sure what would happen, and now I'm so glad I decided to make the plunge.
With that, there are a few people I'd like to call out and thank from this year:
Rowedahelicon - The first artist I commissioned, and the first furry I ever talked with. Even after the commission, we have kept in touch and was a great help when I was first starting out. I couldn't have found a nicer person to be my first contact in the fandom.
ReggaeCyp - This artist created the Ref Sheet for Andy. I felt this was a major step for me as it meant Andy went from just an image in my head to the start of a fully realized character. Sadly, she has decided to leave the fandom since then, but I cannot thank her enough for the work she did for me.
Nicnak044 - While I have only gotten one commission from this artist, it was an important one: this badge for my first convention, Anthro NW up in Seattle. This convention was an amazing experience, and made me more comfortable with being around other furries in real life. She is an awesome artist, and I hope to work with her again in the future.
VulpineHero - This writer has helped me get comfortable with the kink side of my furry identity, thanks to the amazing stories I've commissioned from her. I'm starting to feel ok with letting people know about this side of me, and I thank her for that.
CombatRaccoon - If there is one person who has done more this year, it is her. After I commissioned an icon from her, I managed to catch her stream while she made it. Soon after that, I joined her Discord server and met a ton of really awesome people that I've started to call friends. She is one of the nicest people that I've met and her actions have helped me become far more open to talking with other furries and artists. Thank you SO MUCH for what you've done.
Honestly, everyone I've met through here and other places have been awesome and cool, and I am glad to have met you!
So, with 2019 coming around, what's next? I do have some ideas, which include introducing a new character I'm still in the process of creating, as well as maybe a NSFW piece here or there (shocker!). My hope is to go to more conventions. I'm considering trying to come out to AnthroCon, but it depends on schedule and other life things.
With that, I hope everyone has a great Xmas, and have a happy 2019!
