I must say I really have an easy time busting out commissions when I talk to the commissioner so often. Darkwolf is an IRL buddy of mine (who is currently sitting in my living room playing Borderlands with my boyfriend) so whenever I had any issues with his sheet, all I had to do was drag him to the computer screen and ask him about it. REALLY handy.
I'm reposting this bit because I didn't get any feedback. Does anyone know how to adjust livestream so it doesn't have that black border around the edges? I'm wasting youtube screen space... Just drop me a comment or a note if you know how to fix it!

Posted 13 years agoAfter yet another hiatus while my computer recovered from being ill from a nasty little virus that infected windows, I finally got a chance to edit the two livestreams I did for 
rukis's contest entry together into a youtube video. This was surprisingly difficult, and the video decided at first that it didn't want to play the music, then it didn't want to stream the drawing. In the end it wouldn't show the finished image clearly, but by that point I was done and figured, if they really wanted to see it, they'll click the link in the description.

shctrooper's commission on livestream yesterday, I decided it was about time to start uploading my work to youtube. So I downloaded a movie editing program, pulled the vid off livestream and (3 hours of editing later) you can now watch a sped-up version of my livestream on youtube!

What I've been up to lately:
School
Work
Anthropology Mural
Attempting to modify my art style
Moving
Commissions
Raising 2 puppies
Pottermore
School:
Basically school has been eating up a lot of my time simply because, well, it's school. I did the stupid thing of not taking a creative class with my core classes, so my focus has been all over the place. I was put into the wrong English class (one for non-native speakers) and so I have been out of my mind with boredom. The teacher took half a semester to notice I was too smart (mostly because I was lax about showing up) and is now assigning me separate projects from the rest of the class.
Work:
My job is in a state of upheaval at the moment, since my Sargent is moving to another campus and we're getting their Lieutenant. Cadets are being shuffled around, schedules rewritten and evaluations being made. All in all it's really tiring.
Anthropology Mural:
At the end of last semester the head of the Anthropology Department approached me about doing a mural of the evolutionary timeline in the Physical Anthropology Lecture Classroom. Originally I was going to be paid for my services, but due to budget cuts she didn't have the funding. Then she agreed to give me school credits for it, but due to some paperwork issues we never got around to me being enrolled, so basically at the moment I'm working for free. On the upside, not only will this be a great line on my resume, but I don't have to buy any of the materials, which are all being donated by students and faculty. I've just finished blocking off all the sections that are going to be painted, and we're going to start painting soon. It takes a lot of time, but I'm hoping it will pay off.
Modifying My Art Style:
A friend of mine's sister freelances for Dark Horse Comics, and he was talking about maybe being able to get my foot in the door. I sent her a few of my projects and she agreed I had potential, but I realized right away my style is more anime and less comic bookish, so I've been attempting a few sketches to see how to fix that. It's been tough and slow going, and so far I haven't gotten much down, but playing DC universe for inspiration and a character to work with has helped somewhat.
Moving:
Once again I have moved out of my parent's house and in with my boyfriend (different boyfriend than the one I last lived with) and now I have a wonderful new setup in the corner of our room. It's been taking some time to get settled in, but it's slowly coming together.
Commissions:
The part I'm sure all of you are reading this for. Most of my time has been spent on a 2'x4" canvas painting for my ex. He bought all $100 of the supplies, and so far I've put in about 8 hours of constant work into it. I'll post up some snapshots in scraps soon, but it's quite the undertaking.
That does not, however, mean I have forgotten about my commissions on here. I have been doing some sketchwork for the character sheets I have, although I must admit the stiff, fursuit style refs are quite boring to me, and I've been having some muse issues with them. I'm chuggin' through though, and I hope to crank out at least one commission pretty soon.
Raising 2 Puppies:
Chris and I frequent the local animal shelter, and we recently adopted two puppies that were born there. They're brother and sister Click for picture and are a LOT of work. The brown one is Havoc, and he's trouble incarnate. His sister, Harley, is a sweetheart, but can be a little bitch when she wants to. They're currently the main reason that I don't get a full night's sleep, and that I don't spend much time on art as of late. We're potty training them right now, and as soon as that is done life should be a LOT easier.
Pottermore:
Not a major drain on my time, but OMG HOW FUN IS POTTERMORE?! I play it at work when I'm stuck in the office, lol. I got into Ravenclaw, which has always been my dream house ever since I was little. All my friends have ended up in Slytherin though, and that is both confusing and disturbing to me.

Why Hasn't Azi Been Working On Commissions?
Posted 14 years agoSo between school having finals come up and work being... work. I had been trying to get a job as a police officer for my city. I did well on the written test and was called back to do the physical test.
This is where I got dumb.
I didn't train anywhere near as much as I should have and I wore jeans and hiking boots to the physical. I made a FOOL of myself.
I managed to pull my little 5'2" self up and over the 6' wooden fence, but I can't just hop over it like the boys. So I had to jump up, grab the top of the fence and then use my arms to hold me up while I walked up the side of the wall and threw myself over. Due to the edge of the fence, the skin on my wrists was grafted off, leaving these nice looking bruises on both my arms. They are huge, angry and make just about everything painful.

The bruises shown in my scraps are the progression of my right wrist, but my left one looks equally as narly. You don't even want to see the state my legs are in.
I have a 3 hour studio art class that I have a final project in. I was working on my project today and had to keep stopping every five minutes to rest my arm because it would start burning from the effort of sketching. I HAVE to finish my final. However, for the sake of not damaging already strained muscles I am trying to do as little else as I can. WHICH DRIVES ME CRAZY BECAUSE I DOODLE CONSTANTLY.
I know I post excuses a lot on why I can't finish these commissions, and I am REALLY thankful you guys have been so patient with me. IRL sucks and keeps getting in the way.

Posted 14 years agoHey guys. So most of you are probably wondering what the hell happened to me since it's been almost a month since I got my new desktop and you haven't really seen hide nor hair of me since. Rest assured, I have been one busy kitty!
I have a job screening tomorrow to work with the city police department as an entry level officer (*fingers crossed*) and my new beau is working on moving into his new condo, so we've been doing a lot of running around trying to get all that set up. AND I have an art piece going into an upcoming gallery show on the 12th! Combine that with school and work and I have had very little free time in which to work on commissions, but I have been kicking myself for making you guys wait, so I'm letting the boys work on cabinets while I buckle down and get my art on!

Refurbished Desktop is Refurbished
Posted 14 years agoSo yes, $500 worth of equipment and 48 hours later and I now have a (practically) brand new desktop setup. I took the old desktop my parents had bought when I was in junior high (aka 10 years ago) and completely gutted it, tossed in a couple paychecks worth of brand new parts and BAM! I now have a top of the line custom setup.

Dead Laptop is Dead
Posted 14 years agoYep, my laptop bit the bullet yesterday, and needless to say, I am not a happy kitty. This forces me to work on a much tighter budget than I would have liked to get a new machine, since I haven't been able to make all that I wanted to before going computer shopping.
Don't worry though! While my machine is being diagnosed to see if it can be saved at all, I am borrowing my parent's desktop to work on the commissions I have in queue. It may be slower going since my time will be restricted on when I have access to the machine, but I will do my best to continue to work on your art!
If anyone would like to donate some extra funding to help me out, I'm sure I could do something to repay you. But no worries.

Where Oh Where Has Little Azi Gone?
Posted 14 years agoI'm so sorry to everyone who has been looking for me lately. My new semester is finally kicking in and oh boy am I a busy kitty! Monday-Wednesday I spend the entire day in classes or at work, and by the time I get home I do nothing but crash. Thursday is a lighter day, but I often use it to catch up on homework or projects. Today is Friday, which is my freeday, but I do the household chores and the like today, so I'm just hopping on here to give you all a heads up on my activities lately.
I currently have a project in the works for a 6'x3.5' mural commissioned by my Chief for his office, a huge endeavor. And I just applied for a Forensic Internship with our local police department, which will probably take up even more of my time. But the good news is that it could be a chance for me to get my foot in the door and out of part time work for forever!
To all my commissioners, I want you to know that I appreciate your business and I will be working on your commissions whenever I can. I ask that you please be patient with me, and be assured I haven't forgotten about any of you I'm just a little pressed for time.

Posted 14 years agoI don't know what else to do. I've completely stripped down my computer, restored it as much as I can, installed the proper programs and ran the procaster on the mobile setting and I STILL can't get it to work with my Acer. So that means I can't livestream, which means I can't do the auctions I had planned. Which means I can't raise the money to replace my paycheck. Which means I won't be able to pay the bill on the money I owe. FML!

Posted 14 years agoSo I managed to get my computer back to factory new, meaning that I freed up a ton of space from stuff that had accumulated over time. I still have to load photoshop and a few other things on it, but I'm hoping this will mean a faster computer and being able to work out commissions better.

We started summer semester last week, so we're enforcing parking permits this week. It took me TWO hours to do six rows in the east lot, and another hour to do the west lot later in the day. I got 61 citations in the three hours I was actively citing. This doesn't count my fellow cadets who are citing as well. The average number per cadet today was 35. There were 6 cadets on staff today. so yeah. Holy Crap.

So I'd like to know if anyone has a good artist they can recommend do do a $10 full body pic. I don't care about shading, it's more a style I like.
I only have $10 to spend, so I won't look at anything so much as a cent over that.

Yes, I know AC is this weekend. Too late for that, but there are other Fur Cons to go to ;)
At this point I am opening 5 slots for these because I'm not certain how fast they will go. Those who reply after the first 5 will be put on the wait list, and when I open them again the first 5 on the wait-list will be the active ones etc. etc.
1 badge =1 slot
Badges will be laminated

Names are optional.
Price
$20 per badge (price discounted when more than 3 are bought)
Why $20? Because unlike digital con badges, these are hand drawn and colored, meaning they take more time. If I mess up, I have to start all over. IRL has no Ctrl+Z.
Note: Since I will be using prismacolor markers, understand that your colors may vary slightly.
Rules

2)Do not send references! I will confirm you have a slot and then ask for them.
3)No reserving badges for others. You may buy a gift badge for someone, but I will not take "and so-and-so told me to post for them too!"

5)Once you send a reference and pose, the idea is FINAL, no changing the commission.

The reason for this is while my computer is okay with opening photoshop and doing quick crops and resizes, it's not doing well in the digital art department. This means that while I may be able to do an icon or two before it crashes, there is a slim chance that I will be able to finish any group of them anytime soon.
Therefore I am giving you all another option. You can trade in your eye icon for a chance to win a full body, shaded sketch of your character. I will be selecting from the people who reply back, and the number of sketches I do will increase with the number of icons traded in.
I'm giving you guys this option because I feel very bad about making you guys wait. You do NOT have to enter if you don't mind waiting. I WILL get your icon done... eventually...

I'm overstressed and having a bunch of issues dealing with things. I've found only one thing completely relaxes me. Drawing. Unfortunately, your eye icons (while quick and easy) are NOT helping. The cookie cutter simplicity isn't actually doing anything to take my mind off of the disaster that is my life. So While I'm slowly but surely working on them, the only thing that has actually strafes off the panic attacks I've been having lately is working on things that flex my creativity. I've had two character sheets commissioned from me in the last two weeks, and honestly, while I'm working on them I've been my most relaxed in ages.
So If you guys can commission, that's awesome. If you can't, spread the word? Not only will you be helping my bank account (that is groaning in the bg) but you'll be helping me get better. Which means you'll be helping everyone get their eye icons faster, because when I zone out while working on them I won't freak out when my anxiety creeps up on me.

I'm not only in the process of dealing with finals for school, I recently had a major issue to deal with at work, I've just had a four year long relationship end and I'm moving out of my apartment.
