Posted 8 years agoIt's my birthday! I'm 22 now. And I still don't understand this "adult" thing yet.
Buuut... life has gotten better for me this year so far. I've made some cool friends, went to my first Furry Con, passed my semester, bought my first car and I got a decent summer job.

I hope you all (if anyone read this) had a great New Year. Let's wish for a great and positive year ahead of us!
Let's see. Some goals.
- Continue on in my Civil Engineering program of course. I have to get that damn diploma and show that yes, I can figure out damn Calculus and member forces. Last semester I had Differential calculus. Now I'm going to have Integral Calculus this semester. Oh boy...
- Make more friends in the fandom. I've just started trying to make friends and message people on here and it's going well so far. Already talked to a few cool guys. I hope to meet more.
- Start learning German. Always something on my bucket list. I've always liked Germany and think German is a cool language.
- Grab my anxiety by the horns and control it. Related to the above. I can't let my anxiety control my life and make me worry all the damn time about everything.
Overall I'm hoping for a more positive year and a great year of development for myself as I enter the weird stage known as my 20's.

Me: No, depression. Stay away! I thought I managed to control you!
Brain: Oh no you haven't. I'm always here. And I have to remind you. You're still doing pretty poorly in school. You have no friends. You are a virgin. Like you're so far behind everyone else in life. Just give up now, buddy.
Me: I'm not your buddy, guy!
Brain: I'm not your guy, friend!
Me: I'm not your friend, buddy!
Sigh... I definitely feel like the depression is coming back. That weird knot in my stomach (not that kind of knot you sick fucks) is coming back. I don't know how to quite explain it, I had the same feeling back when I was suicidal a few years ago. So depression does have a lot of physical symptoms. I'm young dammit, I have chances, I can learn, I can overcome as a person. It's not hopeless no matter what my brain thinks. Your 20's are still a time for learning, trying to find out who you are. Yes, I'm behind a lot of other people. I'm probably in last place, but comebacks are possible! I can't control or make other people my friend or get a boyfriend or girlfriend. But I can learn. I can socialize, I can be funny, I think I'm generally pretty average looking despite being a bit overweight. So fuck off brain. I'll get through this dammit.
I'll probably book an appointment with College's counseling department when I go back in January and probably get back on anti-depressants.
But sometimes humour is all we got.

Building my first character

An otter was always on my mind, but I decided to go with a snow leopard. As they're solitary animals who try and stay hidden.
Name: Arkeen/Andrew (Arkie)
Sex/Gender: Male
Species: Snow Leopard
Age: 18-21
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
A snow leopard with medium length dirty blond or silver hair (unsure about the hair). He has heterochromia with his left eye being green and his right eye being blue. He wears black glasses.
Height: 5'10" (178cm)
Weight: 165lbs (75kg)
I want him to represent my emotional and sensitive side.
PERSONALITY
Very shy, quiet, withdrawn, emotional and sensitive. He's very hard to get to know. But nonetheless he's very idealistic with strong opinions who strongly believes in doing good, but is too afraid and shy to talk about them. While he is very lonely, he still dreams and yearns for a close personal relationship. And if you do manage to get to know him, you will never have a more empathetic or loyal friend. He has steel blue (#70869D) and faint light blue (#CCD9E9) (steel blue outlines and faint blue insides) leopard rosettes on his body with smaller spots on his cheeks, nose and forehead (similar to freckles). He has a short muzzle with a domed almost human like forehead. His tail is long measuring at about 1 metre and is very fluffy and thick, especially towards the end which tends to look unkept as he has a habit of biting his tail when nervous. His paws are relatively human like with flat soles but have a lot of fur on top.
His defining feature is however, his big butt, Very fun to grab.

Common casual wear is dark blue jeans and a dark blue zip-up hoody. He's often seen with his laptop bag and a coffee as he's a student. He wants to camouflage into the crowd and not been seen.
