FWA meme thingy

lennymutt gave me the inspiration to do so anyway! So here it goes.
Where I am staying: With Lucky Wolf, Kiyo Husky and Foxglove at the hotel
How I'm getting there: Well..driving myself & my critters up to Atlanta!
Are you selling art? I couldn't draw to save my life..so no :P
Are you going to fursuit? Of course! I plan on bringing all of my fursuit critters with me (and I hope they don't fight on the car trip)
Can we hang out? Same policy as lennymutt, as long as you're not creepy then possibly yes
Can I hug you? A simple hug is ok, just be decent about it
Can I buy you a drink? Hmm..not a big drinker but if the timing is right then why not? :P
Can we go get food together? Usually with friends or with a big group w/friends
Who will you be hanging with? Probably my roomies and other good friends ^^

Fall update!
Posted 15 years agoWhee, another update post from me..according to FA the last post was 4 months ago, so now I'll fix that.
Not a ton has gone on with me since. I survived the sweltering summer weather, and I'm glad it's cooled down a bit. I went to a few cons, like MegaPlex and MFM, and now I'm looking forward to MFF starting next month!
Starting in November, the rest of the year is going to be pretty busy for this wuff. Not only am I flying to MFF, but I'm gonna pay a visit to the bay area in California. I'll be flying into San Francisco on Monday, after the con ends. So if you're reading this, and you live out that way, let me know..mebbe we can meet up?
After my visit to the West coast, I'm gonna have a special guest flying in to tortur..I mean hang out with me for some time ;) (hint: who visited me a year ago?) I'll probably make a few trips to and from Orlando during December. Can't wait!
Then, in January there's a chance that I'll be able to go to FC. Best of all, the con falls on my birthday, so maybe this con will make up for the years I didn't do anything on my b-day, since moving to the South ^^ Even if I can't get a few days off for the duration of the con, I'll just fly on in on the weekend. I've been meaning to attend FC, but it just falls on the worst time of the year for me, in terms of schedules and such.
So there's an update from me..so far 2010 had it's ups and downs, more so up though. Let's see how the rest of 2010 goes :)

The move
About a couple of months ago, I moved into a bigger apartment unit. It’s still within the same complex, just a different unit. Now I have my own fursuit room, and a work table that occupies some of the space in there. It’s one of those things I’ve put off for a looooong time, until now.
So far I built one fursuit part on it..a pair of handpaws for Skroy. Sure did make the assembly experience a little more pleasant!
RCFM
Over the Memorial Day weekend, I traveled up to Huntsville, AL to attend the 2010 Rocket City Furmeet. Like every other RCFM in the past, it’s designated as a good relax-a-con. There isn’t much going on, but if you have a group of friends to hang out with, that IS the con! Luckily I had quite a few good friends who were at the con, and it sure was great to get time to meet up with all of them and chill, and catch up on life. I only took one picture during that whole weekend, since there isn’t much to take pics of! Sure there’s a fursuiter here and there, but heh I already have a crapload of pics of such critters. One thing I did at the con (which I was happy about) is that I got a lot more fursuiting time in..more than usual. I ran around as a silly Coyote (Flagstaff) and broke out the Skunk (Jazzy) once.
AC
For the record, I’m not attending AC this year. This will be the first Anthrocon that I missed since getting involved with the fandom. Why? The con is starting to feel a little “redundant”, and the atmosphere is awesome but a little too busy. I still have a great time at AC like always, but I figured that I should try out some other cons and visit friends on a one-on-one basis.
Megaplex
In place of AC, I am planning on attending MP this year. I’ve never been to this con before, so I don’t know what to expect XD I keep on hearing that it’s more of a relaxacon, but I’ll see. It will be another opportunity to hang out with some good friends ^^ So...who’s going???
Colorado
Last weekend I visited Colorado, and some of the furs out there. Celanor hosted me, and we traveled around and went places XD The Rocky Mountains are beautiful! Well in fact, the state of Colorado is just beautiful in general! I wasn’t so used to the high altitude, as I felt a little more tired up at high elevations, but otherwise I was able to survive. I got to see Tekfox, Dire, Xanie, Triggur, and a few other furs within the Fort Collins area. While hanging out with the guys, we went to some burger joint, and even a hookah bar. Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcomed ^^ I should come back sometime.
4th of July weekend
I don’t know what I’ll do this 4th of July weekend. It will be a 3-day weekend, so I’ll need to find something to do. I really don’t want to sit around and waste it lol..I’ve done that with other holidays and that’s never fun.
So there’s my life memory dump..I’ve been using Twitter a little more, but I still actively check LJ for all of the good stuff ;D (and FA!)

Flickr - picture posts
Posted 15 years agoI don't post many submissions on FA, since I find the submission process a little klunky for massive picture posts. Only the occasional pic that I find interesting or amusing gets posted on here.
For the rest, I have a Flickr account now..any sort of furry (or non-furry) event that I take pictures at will be dumped into my photostream. It's sooooo much easier to share photos this way, and I've been neglecting that for the last so many years :-P

Playing with fursuit numbers

After seeing a panoramic picture of the 640 fursuiters in the 2009 AC fursuit parade..it got me thinking: What's the total value of all of the fursuits in that room, during that time?
I'm just throwing around some numbers, and I'll admit that I didn't get the AZN math co-processor when I was born :-P So don't take these numbers for granted.
Most of those fursuits were most likely commissioned, the most would be $3000 and the lowest would be $1000. So the average price of a commissioned full suit would be about $2000?
The rest would be self-built..and the cost of materials for making a fursuit would be around the range of $300 or so. Input on this?
How about the ratio of commissioned fursuits to self-made suits? 40/60? 50/50? 70/30? 80/20?
40/60: 256 commissioned = $2000*256=$512,000 384 self made = $300*384=$115,200 Total=$627,200
50/50: 320 commissioned = $2000*320=$640,000 320 self made = $300*320=$96,000 Total=$736,000
70/30: 448 commissioned = $2000*448=$896,000 192 self made = $300*192=$57,600 Total=$953,600
80/20: 512 commissioned = $2000*512=$1,024,000 128 self made = $300*128=$38,400 Total=$1,062,400
We sure do like to invest our $$$ into our own characters! Awesomeness.
Keep in mind that this isn't anything set in stone..it's purely for entertainment purposes. Numbers could be dead on. They could be waaaaay off. Most likely they're off. This is assuming that every fursuit has monetary value to it. There could be a few which were made for free or used materials which didn't cost a penny. Look at the total amount and think about it. Feel free to critique it. Come out with your own numbers. What do you think? Food for thought.

I'm still debating on whether I should go to AC this year. I would really like to, and I should be able to get the time off, but traveling with lots of stuff can be a challenge. I might try to ship some of my things in advance before getting to the con, but that can have some potential issues. I could check my luggage in, but I'm not sure if I want to go through that hassle. Getting on a plane is bad enough :-P

Posted 17 years agoLol, the last time I posted to this was 8 months ago! It doesn't mean that I don't use FA at all, I guess LJ fits me just fine for my blogging needs. So to anyone who wants to see some decent blogging skillz from me, look @ LJ ^-^
Another interesting thing about this "journal" is the last place I posted was from a furiend's place in Kansas City, and I had no responsibility (between jobs). Things change rapidly over time :-P

No Subject
Posted 17 years agoAccording to FA, I haven't posted in my journal for 3 months! Eeep! I'm not used to having more than one blog account, only my main one (LJ).
Anyways, I had a blast at FWA. I'm glad that I met so many furs at the con, and even made a few new friends. I definitely got some more time in with fursuiting at this con, compard to MFF07. I even wore my EP suit more, with the alternate head. I didn't realize how many furs like my alternate EP head, wow!
As for future cons, my next one will most likely be AC. I'll try to make it to FCN, but there's no guarantees. LOL real life *giggles*

Posted 18 years agoI finally did something with my FA account, I submitted a couple of pics from MFF! Unfortunately, I didn't get to take many pics of this con, as I left my camera up in the room for most of the time. I'm hoping to post a few more pics, as I find the ones that are worthy of showing.
