Singnal Boosting - Naoma-Hiru's Emergency PWYW Commissions
Posted 8 years agoMy friend
naoma-hiru is in need for some unforseen funds before a trip to US, so she has opened Pay What You Want commissions right here https://www.furaffinity.net/view/23457463/ (and if the link is inactive, then please watch her for some future streams).
Or consider talking to her about regular commissions. All and any help will be appreciated!

In depth documentary on DeLorean - the man, company and car
Posted 9 years agoCar broke down
Posted 9 years agoYup, the yellow Smart broke badly. Engine to be precise. Most an oil seal in the turbo must've broken and it started running on it's own oil (Diesel can do that). Unfortunately I couldn't shut down the engine because it's a automatic transmission. Revs went over the roof while the tranny was shifting and the clutch stayed disengaged, so I couldn't kill the engine with brakes. And since Diesel uses autoignition, killing the power did nothing too.
Ehh, so over 5000 RPM, grey smoke until the engine (most likely) seized itself gently shut. Now, I say "gently" - I didn't hear any clunks or anything that'd indicate a valve breaking or anything snapping. Is that good? Maybe. Hopefully it means less parts to be replaced.
So, best case scenario is the engine has to be taken apart, most likely rebuild. And a new turbo too.
Worst case - new engine. Or a new car.
Any of these means I won't be building a gaming PC this year. I may even have to skip this summer's Futerkon convention.
Wish me luck.

[Mature content] Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away music video
Posted 9 years agoTLDR: I found a true-HD quality, uncensored version of the music video for Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away", here: https://player.vimeo.com/video/1404.....amp;autoplay=0
It's great, it's sexy, has boobs and fun music :D
Every now and then we all get a bit nostalgic. I often get nostalgic to music videos I used to watch in my youth on music programmes, like MTV or VIVA. We're talking classics like early Rammstein, that song for Titanic that no one knows XD and (oh dear lord) "Come with me" by Puff Daddy (go go 1998 'Zilla!).
Another of those is "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz. I loved this music video for both the music and the wild party images accompanying it. And, well, hey topless babes! :o In day-time TV!
Unfortunately, and obviously, on popular video services we only have the toned-down, SFW versions with blurry in strategic places. And that's ok! What's not ok: it's really hard to find "the original". I mean, you can but they are medium to poor quality. I checked out like a dozen of various sites Google threw at me with little success in finding a good upload.
Now, because I can be a stubborn person I just kept on looking for any better quality versions. And find I did! I came across a personal site of cinematographer Martin Coppen, who appears to have worked on several music videos, including "Fly Away" (http://www.martincoppen.com/lenny-k.....vitz-fly-away/). And embedded on this site was this:
Uncensored, HD-720p quality (basically source quality) version of the "Fly Away" music video: https://player.vimeo.com/video/1404.....amp;autoplay=0
Fun, useless fact/observation I involuntarily made while looking for this video in those dozens of sources - it seems like there are 3 versions of the music video: the boobtastic uncensored, an "intermediate" - that simply seems like the previous one censored out (but is not, some parts were cut out and replaced) and most modern "family and youtube friendly" version with two brief censored shots and nothing else. What's more, censored versions use censored scenes not present in the uncensored one. What happened there, how much source material there was and what were the production decisions - wikipedia will not tell you :P

[Motorsport] Speedway GP Poland - LOL!
Posted 10 years agoSo, that was my first time ever being on a Speedway race. For those who don't know, that's the sport where men ride on bikes on dirt on an oval track and only turn left ;)
Anyhow, the race organisation was riddled with problems from the beginning. First, the starting mechanism - an ascending tape couldn't be set to rise equally on both ends of track. So they went for plan B - blessed be Edison - a green light signal.
Now, signal-light start is of course better but, as I was told, in the sport they didn't have to use the lights for 20 years. 20 YEARS of races, no issues with the tape starters so what the heck happened here?!
Second and very important problem though - the track surface. The National Stadium in Warsaw is pretty universal, meaning that no matter if it's a football game (the European one or the Yankee version) or concert, it can be converted. And here, the track was specially built for this event. Now, we're living in 21st century, I believe this was not the first Speedway race to happen not on a dedicated track so preparing a good, safe to race surface should not be a problem.
It was a problem. There were frequent accidents, people loosing control and falling of bikes. The organisers tried desperately to quick fix it but it didn't work. A decision was made to end the event just after 12 of 23 heats.
Important thing here: the GP was ENDED not CANCELED. Points were given for the competitors, there was a podium and all that. That also means, despite the evident fuck-up of the organisers, not even 1 hour of pure racing and frequent technical breaks, poor transfer of information, it's seems unlikely I'll get any part of the money back.
I'm ok if an event has to be canceled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, and good that it was for the competitors' safety. But it was a job badly done by the team responsible for preparing the track, there were issues from the beginning. This team should act responsibly now and at least partially refund the tickets to the 50 000 spectators they let down.
Other stuff, I'm really happy that Speedway finally found it's way into Central Poland, until now it was totally absent here. Also, I'm now sure I do not want to go and watch any races at other tracks in Poland. Because of the "true fans" type spectators. There have been many friendly, nice people that came from all over the country to watch, it was nice meeting them. But, there was a staggering amount of assholey, constantly cursing, totally drunk before the races even started, even more drunk after, selfish, absent minded, pricky people.
And to end this journal, an awful thought ('cause it's totally a 'judging a book by cover', many of the could still be decent), but because of people like these, I feel better about myself. I definitely prefer my shy, flawed self over them.

Health update
Posted 11 years agoBecause I can't fall asleep yet. And I'm in good mood 'cause of painkillers, so let's harvest it a bit.
I'm out of the hospital (yay!) but they didn't mend me (ahh!) :(
So, yeah, the stone is still blocking my right kidney. I've been assured that my kidney is safe though, that it isn't entirely blocked. And I sure hope so, 'cause I'm scheduled for stone crushing on 22nd. Untill then I got to sit at home, resist the pains and try to do work for the university. And hope it all doesn't go to shit all together. I'm worried a lot about this because, one the outside, it's not like I broke an arm. I'm afraid that when the time comes people will be like "well, you've been at home for 2 weeks, surely you could've done it all". Where the truth is, yes I want to, but so far it's just... you can't concentrate on stuff at all, simply can't do shit. I hope it goes away soon, maybe I just have to recover from being int the hospital. And I can either lay or stand, sitting is not that comfortable. I have to adress this issue somehow, otherwise it'll affect work too.
Oh and I get a 38.5 fever at least twice a day. Wich is... eh, bad and good I suppose? Bad, 'cause it indicates something bad is happening, good side though, kidney hurts less (it's like a hot bath!).
It also has a second side effect. I rarely have dreams in my sleep. But because of that fever... oh man! Like, I had this one dream where I went to see a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show in a (literary) underground cinema. But it was weird cause there were also actors in front of the screen for the dance parts. But then the projector broke and they had to improvise. And then it started raining. And I ended up at a museum of bicycles. Just... major WTF.
Also got some nightmers. I don't remember those well, but I think some were puzzle themed. Like I had a problem to solve, that I couldn't solve, and I got frustrated and for some reason it was the worst possible thing.
Ehh... what else to say... Hope you all have a good day. And take care of yourselves.

*sigh* ended up in a hospital
Posted 11 years agoSo, yeah, my presumptions were correct - kidney stones! One big one, the main villain 10mm and a couple smaller ones waiting in line, just for fun.
I'm staying at least untill Monday. At least too days of being completely useless. Not what I need with end of semester approaching.
*sigh* Good thing it happened while I was home. And at least I'm on painkillers.

Saying hello to 2015 with a fucking kidney pain
Posted 11 years agoI'm sitting in front of the PC only because of the pyralginum shot I got at the Emergency station. Before that, I couldn't sit, lay or stand for longer periods of time 'cause everything was causing pain after a bit.
I fear it's a new kidney stone. It's not certain yet, I'll get some tests done on Monday. It hurt like one. And if it is one, well, nothing like having the awareness that somewhere inside you is this little fucking thing that can easily hit you with pain so great it can disable you from life. Just like that, out of the blue, at school, work, while commuting... It can come and go. Yeah that'd be hella fun to have that again.
At times like these, I just hate my body. I mean, fuck, just as I was all 'ah, ok, nothing about it is a problem, it's just all mere inconveniences' but noo, all the elder goods and other celestial beings must've been like "Oh this guy? Yeah, he's been doing too well lately. Fuck this guy"
These drugs are doing a fucking good job though. I mean, I almost don't feel like complete shit. Hope they don't wear out too soon.
Everybody, please stay in good health. And fucking drink lots of fluids.

Saying good bye to 2014
Posted 11 years agoIt was a good year. Been in good health, things like school and work went pretty well, met fantastic people. Also, I feel like a lot good happened with personal stuff. I think I made some progress toward changing myself and my life. But, much is still to be made! But that's where 2015 comes in. Looking at it with good hopes.
So, yep, thanks to all for 2014. Have a good 2015!

Thoughts on Hobbit 3 in High Frame Rate
Posted 11 years agoYup, seen it today with fellow furs. My main motivations to see it being to finally see a movie in High Frame Rate (48fps) and whatever little of Smaug there would be.
I've heard and read numerous opinions that HFR version made the movie look "fake", "unreal", "too fast". Watching the new Hobbit, yes, I got those feelings a few times too. But HFR was not the problem here.
The scenes that looked fake were the ones... that were fake. Every scene that used GreenScreen, was entirely computer generated or used any bit of digital enhancement becomes apparent. And it's because computer generated animation and stuff is fluid, sometimes free of little imperfections and irregularities seen real-life biological and mechanical movement.
In standard frame rate final CGI movement is blurred just as much as the live action, it blends in better. At high framerates our brains can spot the difference, especially if CGI and live action happen in the same shot (and it was very, very common in the Hobbit). Scenes that had none or little CGI looked natural.
To add to it, 3D makes it even more noticeable. I don't know what 3D techniques Peter Jackson used, but I had the impression that many scenes were made digitally like a 2.5D side-scroller game (eg. Little Big Planet). They had 3 separate layers: foreground, main plan and background, all not too well connected which added to the fakeness.
I remember people complained about the indoor scenes in the first Hobbit looking bad, like scale models. There was this one scene in the new Hobbit that led me to think the same. I think what went wrong here was the combination perspective tricks and 3D. I think 3D made the tricks more apparent.
I liked it! Well, bit sad Smaug was on for like 10 minutes. However, when he was on, it was quite awesome. I want the home-video release, just to watch those scenes frame by frame and get some good references. Toward the end, it was more and more amusing in the "we interrupt the movie to bring you Dune/Uncharted/God of War" kind of way, simply laughing at the stupidities that happened on screen. With the pinnacle - the Eagles... of course XD BUT I grinned wider with each decapitated orc XD
The part where Orcs raid the town - that was impressive. Well, the quickly moving, fearsome orcs were impressive, the not-that-quickly running away live actors... not so much.
And the "not every man is brave enough to wear a corset" line... That was good, I want memes of this XD
I guess now I'm sad I didn't see the second installment in HFR. Simply because: more Smaug.
I'm rooting for HFR cinematography and home media. Preferably clever 2D HFR. Clever in the same way how The Matrix used slow-mo. Oh, action movies that'd surprise the viewers with how much more they can perceive out of fast scenes.

A reminder - Kids, be careful while playing with electricity
Posted 11 years agoMy roommate nearly got himself electrocuted today. 'Cause when it's dark outside and you need to change a light bulb, what do you do? You turn on all the lights in the chandelier you're working on, of course! And then get a healthy zap of 230 Volts.
He's fine, a bit "shocked" (ba-dum-ts!), and worried about how many fuses he turned off, but fine. And that's good, 'cause I'd have to kill him if I found him dead on the floor >:(
And it's exactly why I'm overpossessive on any flat conservation tasks that include electricity, water or using a spanner in any way. My flatmates can't be trusted, they'll only hurt themselves. Or break stuff.
*phew*

All questions will be answered BUT I reserve the right to answer in a PM if I feel like it :P And this journal may or may not be deleted someday.
Not actually expecting questions, but feel free to prove me wrong >:3

First FurCons, life updates +amazing car sound impressionist
Posted 11 years agoSo, um, I guess I'm going to my first furcon. Not EF but Futerkon, Poland. Everything's been payed, no turning back now. I don't know what to expect but I hope it'll be fun. There will be some people I've already had a chance to meet and a lot new ones, so errr, we'll see how it goes. Hopefully I'll catch a grove or something and not spend whole time leaning against a wall... 'cause it's about changing myself and not reliving the past
Ok, life! Life's been kinda part disappointing but also quite awesome. Disappointing 'cause I was promised a part time job for summertime at a corporation (good for my CV) but they seem to have turned their backs on me, not even bothering to call me back <sobs>. So, a month (so far) of vacation but no extra monies because of that :c
Awesome stuff though:
- I managed to pick up on some stuff I had to put away 'cause exams. I haven't completed any of them yet but I think I'll get at least some of them done.
- Cinema outings with local furs. That become like a weekly routine for me, and I greatly enjoy it, 'cause watching movies with good people is more fun than going alone, no matter if it's a blockbuster, a Sundance selection or... "Hercules" with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
- Been to a Metallica concert. 'Cause it's just a beautiful experience, all stadium cheering and singing to go along a well directed spectacle. Lights, noise, fireworks!
- Drove my car. As much as I wanted. I'm a person that just loves driving. And not even fast driving (Smarts and fast, hahah). So just cruising aimlessly around the city, getting to know it. I just... like that. Makes me calm, makes me happy. The AC broke but eh, it's just a reason to wind the windows all the way down. I originally wanted a cabrio, so that's as close as I can get to it.
So, I guess that's most of the stuff that happened. As a bonus, have a guy from Australia that can mimic car sounds amazingly
And how are you? YOU, whoever've read that bunch of text?

Posted 11 years agoWell, coming in a typical Blizzard fashion -- "when it's ready" but OMG it's so cute!
http://youtu.be/PIxgCemfBRA?t=2m44s
For those of you who don't know, StarCrafts is a cute Youtube cartoon parody series focused on StarCraft universe, done by Carbot Animations https://www.youtube.com/user/CarbotAnimations
About the mod: I know that it's gonna come out one day, so far it can be funded by reaching a goal on Patreon at http://www.patreon.com/carbotanimations or if this doesn't work out there shall be a Kickstarter campaign. One way or the other, it's gonna happen :D

2014 Formula1 cars feature... a penis front bumper XD
Posted 12 years agoFirst of all, my excuse for behaving like an immature teenager on the topic: I was learning for exams on the bed yesterday night, closed my eyes for 5 minutes, woke up 6 hours later with all room lights still on and with my laptop working pointlessly next to my head. Oh, and I went to sleep in normal clothes... and wasn't covered even with a blanket. No, waking up was not comfortable. :/ thank goodness the heating was working and there was hot water in the shower. But...
TO THE POINT
When I saw these pics, I was all smiles immediately

So, yeah, the upcoming season will be filled with giggles and most likely immature caricatures XD
The reason for this... interesting solution are the new safety rules which require the nose of the car to be much closer to the ground and eliminate the 'stepped noses' so popular in last two seasons. Now, the engineers will tell you "This is the most efficient solution within the regulations"... that's not true, someone simply drew a high-school penis on the drawings right before the final committee meeting. Trust me, that is the truth (*no, don't trust me).
And if you're like 'But I'd like my F1 car with a hemipenis!', Lotus F1 Team has the car for you!

In all seriousness now, why couldn't they just copy and adapt the old Williams FW26 nose?

StarCraft 2 Starter is now free and not time-limited
Posted 12 years agoHad little trouble coming up with a journal title that wouldn't shout "Play StarCraft 2 for free!"
To the point. As of now anyone can play a cut version of StarCraft 2 for free. All you need to do is make an account on Blizzard's battle.net and choose to download StarCraft 2 Starter.
Now, things that are not available in the Starter version:
- single player campaign
- ranked and not-ranked matches via the ladder system
What you DO get though:
- Versus AI matches
- training missions for all fractions
- Custom games, which means you can play with your friends
- Arcade games
The Starter version used to be time limited but now it's not, so if you were ever curious about Star Craft 2, it's a pretty awesome deal.

Thunder-Snow-Storms over Poland, WTF?
Posted 12 years agoIt's now 1:38 AM in Poland and I'm having a small intensity thunderstorm happening above my head now. While it's snowing! (well, snow + rain)
No, I have not seen such a phenomenon before

Dots on the map represent single thunders, the red ones are the latest.

Youtube, Google and Google+
Posted 12 years agoHmm, new comment system on Youtube... Well, I don't want to start with the negatives, so: Google probably/maybe had good intentions - merging Youtube account with Google+ account and enforcing the use of the user's (presumably) real name could bring some order to Youtube comments and conversations.
Everything works fine if you give and do everything Google asks.
I'm a person who doesn't like to be told by Google what to do. And I had a Youtube account before it got swallowed by Google, so:
Originally, I didn't have Gmail. I didn't like Gmail because it had a 25mb attachment limit. I had to make one because I wanted to use GTalk which resulted in redirection of all YT messages from my old email to Gmail ("Dammit! I didn't want that! Eh, one more account to add in Thunderbird") and accidental creation of a Google+ account on a fake name. When I tried to tinker with the name, Google decided I'm not a real person, suspended the G+ and now requires PROOF that I'm real (to which I say "Fuck you Google"). RESULT: because of the new comment system I can not express my appreciation to YT creators. Unless I sell my soul and kidneys to Google...
Oh, and I also have a second YT account, also set on a non-Gmail email and can't comment on it too, unless I join the cheerful and useful social network of Google+.
I miss the times when corporations at least tried not to look evil :/
