Equestria Girls .... *Rant Warning*

What is the pont of using the Mlp ip like this? The characters depicted look neither human or pony. With them "going to earth" how is that going to work? Unless the alternate earth depicted is similar to the one in Invader Zim (no one really notices he is green because everything is too crazy) or Doug (all the rainbow people)is the earth idea they are using. Someone is going to be like. "Your purple whats up with that?
I just don't understand.
If Hasbro can successfully psudo recycle character personality/design (looking at you miss Zoe Trent and Minka Mark) for Littlest Pet Shop, why couldnt they just make an all new ip or revive and old one and do the same darned thing?
Wouldn't it make much more sense to go the Duck Tails, Goof Troop, ect. way and have the "earth" be all animal people? At least then there would be still peg, unicorn, and earth variations among the main cast. Why use the mlp brand for this in this way?
Case in point: If this was done to give Hasbro access into the lucrative doll market, why did they not study the juggernaut of the Monster High brand? Every new doll that comes out is pretty unique, and each charactre in the series is very unique and individualized?
The concepts shown in that picture all look to be all the exact same height build, and those "boots" ick. The leaked character concepts are so mindbogglingly generic. They look like short torsoed mannequins with pony colors and the characters eye shapes slapped on. They lack the personality even recolored vector ponies have!
I think I'd be ok with the premise of the pony characters in an all human setting, if the design wasn't so impossibly generic. I could be much more optimistic if the girls were AT LEAST more appropriately dressed to there personalities. It's also possible if I wasn't aware of how much better Monster High is handling a similar concept I might be less... befuddled as to what is going on.
I'm a doll collector and I knew about this rumor for about as long as it has been out. I was cautious about thinking down on a doll based mlp idea, I love dolls I love ponies it could be awesome is what I was telling myself. This does not look like an awesome marriage of two of my passions

People who don't own up to there own actions, especially when they try to blame it on others.

Part one: My guarantee to you Commissioners/Traders
1. My working list will always be posted publicly in my journal footer, and is consistently updated.
2. No money you have sent me will EVER be touched until the commission is completed.
3. I will not sell pints of you your characters, that I have drawn for commissions or trades, unless otherwise agreed on ahead of time. I will still use them in promotional work i.e a price list, examples, or in my portfolio. The art work itself is still copyright to me.
4. You may ask me any questions, you may have at any time, if you are unclear about the progress I have made on your work.
5. Full refunds will be given if no work has been started on any piece at any time, if any work has been completed a refund less the work done will be available. No refunds will be given if work is completed.
6. All work will be completed in as timely a manner as possible. No work should ever take more than 30 days to complete from start to finish. If some extreme extenuating circumstance happens, you will know well in advance, and be able to take the best course of action from that point, weather it be deadline extension or refund of any manner.
7. I will not reuse any part of any art I do for you for someone else, unless I created a general use brush or a pattern during the process of your commission/trade.
Part Two: What you can do with my art
1. You may re-post any art you get from me anywhere you please as long as you link back to my fa page/credit me as the artist.
2. You may make my art into something for yourself i.e. slap it on a sticker or a shirt, as long as its for you and you make no profit off it.
3. Crop the art for yourself to use as an icon (If you'd prefer ill do it for you for free!), or add space to it make a desktop wallpaper for your computer.
4. If you intend to color work I do for you please tell me in advance, but generally if you would like to color a line art I do for you that's okay!
Part 3: What you cannot do with my art
1. You may not have another artist "finish" or alter any work you get from me without my permission. You may NEVER get another artist to alter art I have done for you to make it into a mature work.
2. Print/make anything from art I have made for you for profit.
3. Claim the artwork as your own work.
As a final note: I also reserve the right to decline any commission at any time for any reason.
I'm going to add to this a few spreadsheets with information you might like to know before commissioning me or trading with me. They will show my turn around time for every commission and trade. I'm absolutely dedicated to giving you my very best and this information may be usefull.

Posted 14 years agoSkyrim has stolen the last 25 or so days of my life lol :P It's truly both wonderful and evil.
Also I work retail so I'm gona be a touch slow with any progress until like January :P Ill officially reopen for trades (with specific rules and guidelines in place) and commissions at that point with a new (but pretty much unchanged) price thingy. But this month I'm setting aside to get the stuff I'm drawing up for Xmas done!
In the mean time, are there any deals you would like to see me offer?
Or any other feedback you can give me about what you would like to see from me, in terms of prices or anything I don't officially offer, but could offer would be a huge help!

Posted 14 years agoJust wanted to clear out my rambly weird journal where I repeated myslef a few times (note to self really sleepy typing is very hard to understand!) :P
Commissions will resume and reopen soon, I just got back from MFM and then have a crazy work schedule, much work to be done on Friday!
Trades will reopen as soon as I finish re doing my ref sheet, but I'll most likely take them early if I get interest :).
New kinds of commissions, and probably an Iron Artist are coming! <3

As soon as I get the files from sugarcat 's lappy ill be able to post all my custom pony badges! I'm soo happy I got to draw so many ponies! I'll also be tracking down all the people I have to watch that I met there!
Thanks so much everyone for making my first con experience awesome! I was absolutely terrified that I'd be laughed out of the dealers den, now i feel more confident than ever to keep going and improving!
I'm mildly sleep addled and illish atm (I got sicky pre con, probably the combo of lack of sleep and stress) but soon I'll contact everyone and get everything in order!

Going to MFM, my first con!
Posted 14 years agoFinally moving my commission/trade info stuff / progress into my footer. :) It might work better! Who knows!

I will only trade for the same effort level for full color works, meaning shaded and highlighted at fa size (1280 on one side) or larger dimension full body work. I put in exactly as much effort into a trade, as a commissioned image. I would need to see a similar level of effort into the work I'm trading for. I'm willing to trade with you for something smaller for lesser effort work, if you offer something cute/interesting and will work with me on what you want me ie: a Ponysona, an icon or an inked piece.
Work will be traded on a like for like work basis ie: you do an icon for me I do an icon for you. It is at my discretion as to whether I accept or not, but if you can do something I like and will put in equal effort we can probably work something out.
Also if your refs are very unclear, changed recently, or you have more then 2 or 3 reffs in your gallery of the same character,PLEASE provide me with a written description of what your want me to draw. I need accurate color information and any other pertinent facts. I will not make multiple alterations because your refs or unclear or you give me improper refs.
I do not expect you to finish your trade before me by any means, but I would like to see some sort of work, sometime within the month the trade is initiated, unless another time frame was worked out ahead of time.
If we are trading full color work it would be great to see a sketch ahead of the final product, if its a small piece or something I don't mind not seeing it before its fished, but for larger/full color work, I would like to get the same chance to approve things as I give you :).
A final note, if we do decide to trade I would very very much appreciate you watching me. I will watch you, it makes things easier as I don't have to shout or note you every time I post a wip. I know how some people feel about person filling their shouts or people who hate notes.

I want to do some trades but I really don't know a good way to go about finding trade ppl, and a chronic shy-ness stops me from talking to people sometimes. Anyone want to trade with me, or know someone who might want to? ;) drop me a note and we cant work out some details.
Also I want to do more sona-ponys, if you want one or know someone who might want one like
