a brief rundown is like this: $5 per theme, done in an 11x17" hardbound sketchbook. maximum 5 themes per person, but with journal linkage and up to 4 extra raffle slots at $2 each you can get up to 10 raffle slots total.

100 Theme Challenge - cheap art, and sketchbook raffle!
General | Posted 13 years agoI am verbose, I know, but read it for the details, if you ask a question that is plainly answered below, I will not respond to your questions, its a waste of both our time.
I have deicded to do an art sale/raffle using the 100 themes challenge.
I thought about this for a while, and decided to do it as follows, I am buying a brand new hardcover 110 page 11x17" sketch book to do these in. When the themes are complete it will be raffled off to those who have purchased theme slots, additional raffle slots may be purchased at $2 each, up to 4 additional. Another slot is available for those who post a journal that links to this one, and then posts a link to it in the comments on this journal. Because there are 10 extra pages over Tue 100 themes, as a bonus to the person who wins the raffle I will also do 10 additional pictures in the book of their character(s), 5 up front and 5 in the back, either of themes that they wanted but didn't buy or of random things, up to 3 characters per page.
Each theme purchased will be assigned the corresponding number in the raffle except for #1 which I am reserving for me :) Additional raffle slots will be assigned random numbers on a spreadsheet, additional numbers will be sent via note to their purchaser, and indicated beside their name on the theme list at its highest position on the list for quick reference. As the journal link comments get assigned numbers they will be hidden, I will note you your corresponding number, and add it to your name beside your theme(s).
It will be $5 per theme, done in colored pencil, maximum of 5 themes per user. Any purchaser that buys 5 themes AND 4 additional raffle numbers AND posts a journal linking here will also get a free laminated badge sent to them by mail (clean only) OR an additional single character picture digitally inked (of any other theme or pose of choice including NSFW if wanted).

I will be generally trying to get each theme done in about a week after it is purchased, however if you get 3,4,5 of them, it will be slightly longer, but I will give you a realistic estimate at the time of purchase.
Since I am doing each of these pretty cheap please don't apply if you do not have at least ONE visual ref. This does not have to be an actual REF SHEET, just something to give me an idea of the character and colors. I can work with a character that is not well established, I don't want to have to start one for you from the ground up for this. Additionally, because of the price, I will be taking some suggestions on what you envision on the themes you pick, but in general I am going on artistic inspiration to fit your character to the theme(s) you choose.
As previously stated, the book will be done in ink and colored pencil, I will be submitting them as photographed and slightly cleaned up images on here and/or by email to the purchaser. For the online submissions I can add a flat background if desired, but the book will not have any backgrounds except for possible props needed to do the themes.
Because the completed book will be going to a randomly selected person the pictures will be GENERAL AUDIENCE.

I am not clever (at least not at the moment) and don't have it in me to make up one of these regarding my furry status, but EVERY SINGLE GROOMING ONE that I have seen has made me lol, so I wanted to share them, because they are very true, and since I LOVE my job (despite the truth of the meme's at the end of the links) I wanted to post them as a bit of insight into me as a person...
And btw, if you are curious about an experience you had with a dog groomer I would be happy to help you understand our side of things if you would like, feel free to comment, I have been doing this for a decade, I've seen a good share of customers from the ecstatic and eccentric to the guy who was so angry the whole room could feel the tension and would have likely pummeled me if there wasn't a desk between us and customers outside... over the fact that he forgot a vaccine paper. yeah.

I have many, mostly due to handling untrained/unsocialized dogs at work, but the most obvious one that’s not from that is on my lip from falling and splitting it on a bedpost when I was 9 months old, took 6 stitches, they had to strap me down to do them.
002. What is on the walls in your room?
My personal space is a couple of posters and art of my characters and things that I have done over the years, and some random photos tacked up willy nilly. Elsewhere there are shadowboxes full of bones and bird nests and other found objects, framed photos, posters from punk shows, a road sign, random art that sort of thing.
003. Do you snore, grind your teeth, or talk in your sleep?
probably, not normally, and yes, often coherently, if I did things I shouldn’t I could get myself in a lot of trouble that way.
004. What type of music do you listen to?
mostly Punk, blues, jazz, Indie rock, folk, bluegrass, skacore, and classic rock, but I have varied music tastes that cover a little bit of most things.
005. Do you know what time you were born?
10:41 am.
006. What do you want more than anything right now?
to buy a house we really want (no settling for the first one we can afford) so we can stop renting

There is a lookout point at the top end of Upper Ashland Lake in the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington (sate) that has a nice flat rock right next to it if you know where to look, and you can sit on the rock with your back to a tree growing from the top of it and see the whole lake laid out in front of you and the mountains cradling it and the beautiful coniferous rain forest all around and in the mornings the fog rolls in from behind you and drifts down over the water and it is the absolutely most beautiful and peaceful place I have ever been.

I was a summer camp counselor for the YMCA when I was 14.

yes. People who say they don’t are either blind or liars or disingenuous people. They might not keep you from being friends with someone, but they do matter at least a little bit for any relationship when it first starts. And as far as romantic involvement, how do you expect to be aroused by someone you find unattractive? You don’t. So looks matter.

I cry it out, or scream it out, or draw, or sing in the car, or when its really bad I have been known to deconstruct old car radiators with a pickaxe.

lose 58 lbs. but much more than that and I wouldn’t be too happy.

My personal space is a couple of posters and art of my characters and things that I have done over the years, and some random photos tacked up willy nilly. Elsewhere there are shadowboxes full of bones and bird nests and other found objects, framed photos, posters from punk shows, a road sign, random art that sort of thing.

probably, not normally, and yes, often coherently, if I did things I shouldn’t I could get myself in a lot of trouble that way.

Baker Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington (sate) that has a nice flat rock right next to it if you know where to look, and you can sit on the rock with your back to a tree growing from the top of it and see the whole lake laid out in front of you and the mountains cradling it and the beautiful coniferous rain forest all around and in the mornings the fog rolls in from behind you and drifts down over the water and it is the absolutely most beautiful and peaceful place I have ever been.

I like doing art trades, I think it’s fun to see what other people will do with my character, and am more than happy to do work in return for it, it keeps me from spending my whole paycheck on commissioning people, at least, most of the time.
I do a lot of random characters, so check out my gallery to see what I normally do before you comment regarding a trade. I am most comfortable doing line work, colored pencil, and some digital filling, but will not do complicated digital work, no digital shading, and will only do watercolor if I'm feeling inspired or you would really like it and I think I can make it work. I'm not in this to make up characters for people, and would like to keep back and forth info sharing to a minimum, a couple notes at most, not lengthy days long descriptions trying to get things right before we can even begin. Since the fun of trading to me is seeing what people can do, I offer the same in return, if this was a commission I would be willing to keep posting and revising but with a trade, I feel mostly that it should have some inspiration from the artist doing the work. If you are a control freak then trading with me might not be your best bet. I almost always post a sketch before I ink and color, it gives the receiver a chance to correct anything they don’t like or that isn’t right for the character and I’m fine with fixing things, but I will not do lengthy revisions, especially after ink is finished. My AVERAGE turn around is 2-3 weeks. This can sometimes be only a few days, sometimes it will take longer because I have a life outside of this that will sometimes affect what I can do with my art. In the event that something like this happens, I will still be able to keep you informed and will not just ignore you until it resolves, but it is something that you should be prepared for. I do not mind waiting longer for return work, as long as it comes to me sometime within a reasonable limit (multiple months gets a little off-putting). I will take up to 5 or 6 trades at a time to give me the option of some variety, I will let you know or start a queue up if I get swamped.
To make this easier I’m going to break it down into things I will do and things I will not do as follows:
TRADING WILL-DOS:
*sketches, lineart, colored pencil, markers, watercolor, non-complicated digital filling
*heads, busts, waist up, full body
*Clean art solo, couple, up to four in a group
*risqué solo’s and couples, up to threesome in yiff situations

*clothed or non clothed, most styles of clothing can be accommodated, but for clarifications sake, please PLEASE please include links if it is anything specific.
*minor accessories are ok, I will tell you if it is something I’m not comfortable doing.

Ok here's some backstory: I had a bad experience taking requests at another site, people were treating me like they were commisioning me and I wasn't delivering, they got super demanding and impatient, and were often hard to work with regarding what they wanted from their characters when refs were not provided, it was all around a bad experience despite the fact that the work was being done for free, and ususally turned out within a week to two weeks time frame. Since then I have decided I will no longer take requests for random handouts, people just get too needy and pushy.
So here's the deal:
I'm not always working on trades or personal work, sometimes I get bored working on my own characters all the time, or making up new ones (even though I have like 7 or 8 that could be called my own regulars, it still gets a little old)
So what I will do is open this journal up for "SUGGESTIONS"
This is essentially free art in some capacity or another. As such, I WILL NOT SPEND LOTS OF TIME GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH YOU REGARDING A PICTURE OF THIS SORT. You will get ONE NOTE if I decide to use your character or idea, and then I will do what I am inspired to do based on that, and you will then get a comment when the piece is posted.
To get in on this:
Post a journal comment on THIS JOURNAL, not in a note, not as a shout, that includes any or all of the following info - Character reference or at least 1 full body picture of the character you want drawn, I will not work with character descriptions alone for this. An idea for a picture you would like to see such as "Do a wombat being ridden reverse cowgirl style by a pink coyote" or some such randomness like that. And idea that involves your character (with ref) and another character (with ref) or a random character or species is fine as well. If you want a random pic of your character please be detailed about what you would or would not want to see your character doing such as "I am ok with Sylvie having hetero sex only, foot fetishes are ok, preppy clothing is ok, bondage is not ok, and I never want to see her hooking up with a Husky" or "I'm ok with clothing only, please no yiff" If you do not have any preferences of this type then don't bother with it and I will just do whatever.

PLEASE DO NOT ask for a specific medium for this. I WILL IGNORE YOUR POST if you say you want specifically digital fill, or specifically inked and pencil or marker or paint, it doesn't matter, these are at my discretion, and only when the urge strikes, so I will do what feels right at the time. Understand that 90% of the work I do EVER ends up inked and colored, so there is a good chance that you will at least get that, if I decide to upgrade to watercolor or marker or digital fill in thats my choice.
Also keep in mind that posting here is not a 100% guarantee that you will end up with a picture, I will do these as they inspire me, if I am between projects and looking for something to do, or if something looks like it would be a lot of fun to do I will do it, not in a specific order, just as I am inspired to do so. I will probably close it at some point and go through and try to at least do a sketch of all of them, just for some finality, but I have not decided yet, so for now, just have at it and I will do them as I do them.
One last thing, I am going to be brutally honest, I have an all black character, wanting a picture of an all black character is going to risk you getting passed over because as much as I love my character, it gets kinda old doing all black characters all the time. I may still do them, but it does lower your chance. However, I do offer trades regularly if you do some capacity of art as well I'm pretty accomodating, prefereably somewhere around my same level of skill with one or more mediums, if I'm getting a picture in return I am always ok doing other black characters.

Ok here's some backstory: I had a bad experience taking requests at another site, people were treating me like they were commisioning me and I wasn't delivering, they got super demanding and impatient, and were often hard to work with regarding what they wanted from their characters when refs were not provided, it was all around a bad experience despite the fact that the work was being done for free, and ususally turned out within a week to two weeks time frame. Since then I have decided I will no longer take requests for random handouts, people just get too needy and pushy.
So here's the deal:
I'm not always working on trades or personal work, sometimes I get bored working on my own characters all the time, or making up new ones (even though I have like 7 or 8 that could be called my own regulars, it still gets a little old)
So what I will do is open this journal up for "SUGGESTIONS"
This is essentially free art in some capacity or another. As such, I WILL NOT SPEND LOTS OF TIME GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH YOU REGARDING A PICTURE OF THIS SORT. You will get ONE NOTE if I decide to use your character or idea, and then I will do what I am inspired to do based on that, and you will then get a comment when the piece is posted.
To get in on this:
Post a journal comment on THIS JOURNAL, not in a note, not as a shout, that includes any or all of the following info - Character reference or at least 1 full body picture of the character you want drawn, I will not work with character descriptions alone for this. An idea for a picture you would like to see such as "Do a wombat being ridden reverse cowgirl style by a pink coyote" or some such randomness like that. And idea that involves your character (with ref) and another character (with ref) or a random character or species is fine as well. If you want a random pic of your character please be detailed about what you would or would not want to see your character doing such as "I am ok with Sylvie having hetero sex only, foot fetishes are ok, preppy clothing is ok, bondage is not ok, and I never want to see her hooking up with a Husky" or "I'm ok with clothing only, please no yiff" If you do not have any preferences of this type then don't bother with it and I will just do whatever.

Art Trading? Anyone? ...no one?...
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm feeling rather bored with my same old stuff, and am hoping to try some art trading, but I have found that I don't know where to begin :( In case it was not obvious, my digital skills are a little lacking, but I would love to do any sort of traditional media that I normally work with (sketches, lines, colored pencil, pencil and marker, watercolor) Basically I would like some other characters or ideas to draw, but it would be nice to know I'd be getting something in return. Anyway... Since I don't know how to get this going, I figured I'd put it in a journal and hope for the best, or at least some advice, whatever.

As an additional aside, if you work in digital and might be interested (maybe?) in doing a trade, I am willing to ship the original for free as long as it is under $5 postage (probably within the US) so that you're getting the full quality of the work as opposed to just a photo of it on a sunny day.
For traditonal artists I'm willing to ship as long as it is a shipped art trade as well and I will also be getting the picture to keep.
