Posted 12 years agoMy boss just went outside to yell at the garbage men about Christ knows what and when I looked outside I saw that the truck has a HUGE copy of that Lola Bunny in a French maid outfit picture plastered to the side of the truck.
Hide yo' garbage, the furries are everywhere.
Oh and yeah I'm still alive so that's a thing I guess.

Mortal Kombat is kool again in 2011.
Posted 14 years agoSo, obviously I've been a MK mark for a long time. I'm the sort of fan - or rather I try to be - that gives anything from a beloved property a try but won't fellate it just because it's PART OF that property line.
MK Deception (MK7) was, in my opinion, a good game; the first good one since MK3. I really enjoyed it, but it wasn't a serious fighter. MK Armageddon (MK9) was fun with friends mostly because of the whole huge roster, but it again wasn't a serious fighter.
MKvsDC was a big step towards being a good fighter...but it wasn't a good MK game. There was potential there, though.
Mortal Kombat 2011, or MK9, or just Mortal Kombat, may be the first MK game that's actually a good fighter. I'll offer more thoughts on it once I've put more time into it, but as it stands I really feel like this is the MK game to make gamers take MK seriously. It's not just about the gore this time around. It also gets back to telling a story, which really we haven't seen since Deception since Armageddon's story was, well, shit. The concept of re-telling MK 1-3 in an alternate reality style that's still part of canon works for MK.
On top of having a good MK game to play, there's the new Mortal Kombat: Legacy miniseries airing online.
I didn't like the proof-of-concept trailer that showed up around 10 months ago that this series spawned from. I don't like the idea of making MK gritty and real. MK is campy and colorful and stupid at times and that's what makes it fun.
The three episodes that have aired so far are slowly winning me over though. First of all, Black Dynamite is playing Jax and Helo from BSG is Stryker so fuck yeah right out of the gate. But it's the third episode, which I believe debuted today, is what finally got me excited about it.
Something supernatural happened.
The original trailer had no supernatural events. The closest thing was Scorpion's eyes at the end, which maybe were ghostly or maybe he was blind, or maybe he had awesome contact lenses. In this episode however, something clearly and obviously supernatural happens that gives me hope of seeing spectral ninja and fireball-throwing Shaolin.
So overall, it's a good time to be a MK fan. The game delivered and the mini-series at least appears like it's going to attempt to do MK justice, albiet in a very 2011-ish manner.

Tentacles in Space (Second Life)
Posted 14 years agoIf you're a Second Life user and enjoy first person shooters, tentacles, and dogs made of cake then check out Tentacles in Space. Its an in-game game that borrows heavily from Borderlands in that you play one of four classes in an fps romp through dungeons while leveling up, collecting weapons and armor, and trying not to get captured and fucked silly by the monsters.
Or maybe you want to get caught, whatever floats your boat.
It costs about 1500L for the game module and requires a RLV compatibje viewer like Phoenix, and its well worth it. Beats standing around in clubs all night.

Finally, Second Life. Jeeze.
Posted 15 years agoSo Second Life is finally going to be adding the ability to name your character whatever you like, sort of how like Steam lets you have a changeable public name over your static userID. I can't wait to be just Emerson there and drop this Edgeworth shit. Emerson, Lake, and Palmer jokes are okay. But those Phoenix Wright games? Fuck that shit.
Testosterone: The Motion Picture
Posted 15 years agoOff to see The Expendables. I hope my balls can take it.
Well, this is embarrassing.
Posted 15 years agoLet me tell you something: re-reading something you wrote almost two years ago is the literary equivalent of walking out of the bathroom after a really bad poop. You kind of just look back at what you did with a sense of shame and guilt.

But we'll see how that goes. I like it's feature set.

In other news, don't talk to me about that Mortal Kombat proof of concept movie trailer that's floating around out there. DO NOT WANT.

Fur Affinity United
Posted 15 years agoSo, I'm considering going to Fur Affinity United in a few weeks, since it's only about an hour away from me. I've always avoided cons because I'm really not that into the fandom as a lifestyle thing, but I think it might be a good experience. With that said, any advice for a first time con goer?
Further Twitter Pluggin'
Posted 15 years agoI hate social networking. I hate Twitter and I hate Facebook. I also hate double-posting journals here and on Yiffstar/SoFurry, and I think Twitter is a solution. The writing bug is nipping at me so if you have a Twitter account, follow me at twitter.com/docemerson for quicker updates, as I'll only be posting journals for very specific purposes.
Also, the new A-Team movie looks balls out awesome. Rampage Jackson pitys fools pretty good.

Twitter and the brave new world.
Posted 15 years agoI recently started my first Twitter account for the purpose of following some media outlets I like. If you care enough to follow what will likely be sporadic tweets from me, you can find me at twitter.com/docemerson. Note: not really a doctor. :V
Huh. input needed from you kids.
Posted 15 years agoI don't normally browse FA on any PC other than my own. However I recently had reason to do so and I noticed that many of my drawings appear very pixelated and artifact-ridden on this other screen. On my machine things look sharp and clean. Does my crap appear in crummy quality for anyone else? I mean aside from my generally crummy skills. :V
Repo!
Posted 15 years agoSo I recently sat down and watched Repo! The Genetic Opera, a incredibly odd movie that kind of felt like Bioshock: The Musical, just with more goth and less art deco.
Anyhow, I really enjoyed it. It's got a lot of lush (and gorey) visuals and a pretty rawkin' soundtrack.
See? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otdH.....eature=related

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Posted 16 years ago...is the bestest stealth/action/superhero video game evar.
I really wrote this off when it was first announce. Blah blah blah Batman blah blah blah another bad game blah blah cocks.
But then I started hearing "Rapture" thrown around in early gameplay reviews, and considering that I walk around 24/7 with an erection for BioShock and all things Rapture, that's a pretty good way to get my attention. The demo sold me. The game is fucking awesome.
I even shelled out for the fancy collectors edition that came with a leather Arkham journal and a 14" Batarang display, because I am a huge Batman nerd and cannot resist having a GODDAMN BATARANG. :O

The One Where I Talk About Stuff
Posted 16 years agoHello. Here are some things:
- Just found out that there's a new 3D Castlevania in the works for the 360. It's being produced by Hideo Kojima. It's being developed by the team that made Clive Barker's Jericho. I don't know what to think of this. :|
- I'd hate to be a celebrity this year. They're dropping like flies. Ironically, I was informed of Jackson's demise during a game of TF2. "Grandpa, where were you when Michael Jackson died?" "Um, busy. Curing cancer. Certainly not wasting my time in a video game."
- After a solid month of overcast days and weeks of thunderstorms, June has finally started to act like JUNE. Sun and heat have arrived.
- Carnal Combat is on indefinite hiatus again. I know the story I want to tell. I just don't have the desire to tell it. Other stories seem much more interesting to me at the moment.
- Speaking of other stories, one is in the works. If you watch my account at all you've likely seen a few pics relating to it. Looking forward to showing everyone more.
- UFC 2009 Undisputed is a great first try by THQ at capturing the sport of MMA in virtual form, but I really wish they hadn't made the single-player career mode an MMA training simulator. You spend hours preparing training schedules for your fighter and maybe 25 minutes in a fight, if even that. Yes, that is just like real life, and that is the problem. I'd rather play an MMA GAME over actually experiencing the frustration of spending weeks training before being punched in the face.
- Speaking of the UFC, if you're in any way an MMA fan and you didn't catch Diego Sanchez vs Clay Guida last weekend, do yourself a favor and watch it. The whole card was full of excellent fights, but Sanchez/Guida was a war, or "FUKIN NUTS" as Dana White put it. The first minute was a pure test of testicular fortitude between these guys, and half-way through the first round Guida took a head kick from Sanchez that would have murdered lesser men. Guida stood up and got angry. Wild.

My Recent Art Postin'
Posted 16 years agoWith the absence of my Xbawks and being tired of flurries of baseballs BONK!ing me in TF2, I decided to start drawing again. I feel I've ironed out a few pitfalls of mine, and I do find the process to be rather relaxing, so I think I'll be sketching more for the next few months.
That's the thing with me when it comes to writing and drawing; I'm a better writer, but I don't like waiting for a story to be finished to be able to show it off. Drawing is not my natural talent, but I can have a finished product in one or two nights that I don't mind inflicting upon the unsuspecting.
In other words, drawing = instant gratification.
