Ack, here's another tough one.
I don't really know how I define love. I suppose just caring about someone a great deal, since you can love your friends in addition to having romantic love.
It's a hard question for a cold-hearted bastard like me, since I don't know if I've really truly loved someone, sometimes I actually wonder if I'll ever be able to. People have been in love with me, but it's never been reciprocated, so I don't really know what's not clicking.

Ok, look. I'm going to totally stereotype myself because a lot of what's on my iPod is stupid pop music that I like to sing along to in the car (despite having no singing ability whatsoever) and showtunes.
But I'm at least aware that a lot of the pop music is just vapid fluff that's simply fun to listen to listen to (Except Robyn, because she actually makes good pop music).
I also love music from the Final Fantasy games, like a total nerd, I have 3 imported 4 disc soundtracks from Japan that I listen to often because I like to remind myself as to why I'm still a virgin.
In addition to that, I listed to DaviD Bowie, The Magnetic Fields, Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Brandi Carlile, and others who are just not springing to my mind at the moment.
Oh, fun fact. Because of it's use in the series finale of Six Feet Under, I cannot listen to Sia's song Breathe Me without either crying or coming close to it.
Overall, I'm really eclectic in my musical tastes, I don't really just listen to 1 or 2 types, I generally can find songs in most genres that I actually like (even the dreaded country genre that people seem to hate so much these days), so yay for me.

Well, if you were disappointed by yesterdays topic, rest assured, the topic of my parents is one that I could talk about at length.
I currently do not have much of a relationship with my parents, despite actually living with them (I know, I'm 22 and I live with my parents, but the college I attended was nearby, so it just made things cheaper). If anything, I'm closer to my father, he's been the most supporting and more stable parent, even though we don't actually have any heart to heart talks.
My mother, on the other hand, is a different story. Growing up, she was insanely overprotective. When I was about 15 my mother lost her job due to a back injury that was progressively getting worse. This put a lot of strain on the family, since she was the primary breadwinner, and has been my entire life. She was also the more educated parent, so she could no longer do what she had gone to school to do.
This, coupled with her almost self-imposed isolation lead to her going into a deep depression. It was during this time that I took over all cooking responsibilities in the house, something that's still going on to this day. It was also during this time when the family dynamics changed. I seemed to become elevated to the level of parent while my mother became a child and the family became more reliant on me. I became their cook, their maid, the friend, their therapist, and their personal assistant, especially on days where my dad worked. Since he works 24 shifts, this left me to essentially take care of the house, sometimes having to stay up with my mother while she had an anxiety attack. I had to deal with each parent complaining about the other to me, or my mother going off on long, depressing stories about how horrible her childhood was.
Things became strained (and still are) between my mother and myself. I began to pity her less, instead growing to dislike and sometimes hate her. I hated her for being such a selfish person who only thought of herself, who wouldn't allow me to go to any other college than the one nearby because she didn't want to have to feel sad if I left, which left me to deal with a senior year of people discussing their college plans and having to deal with teachers trying to persuade me to go to a different school that was more fitting for my grades (I don't think much of myself in a lot of areas, but I am a good student and could have gone a better school, if given the chance). I couldn't stand her narcissism, that everything in the world was somehow related to her, that I couldn't be sad without it being a personal attack on her. When my dog died, she became angry at me for being sad about it, assuming that me being sad must be because of her.
Meh, I could whine and be emo a bit more (believe me, there's still stuff to share), but I'll pass. With grad school coming up soon, I'm not sure how my relationship with my parents will develop. Oh, and they do now know that I'm gay. I know that's rather pathetic, being 22 and in the closet, but my parents have deliberately stated how horrible it would be to have a gay child, so I'm waiting until I'm less reliant on them before I let them know.
Anyway, there's day 3.

Yes, it's day two of my trip into narcissism and self-importance.
So, first love. That's something I can't really talk that much about, because I don't think I've ever been in love before. I'm not one for crushes and infatuation, as anyone who knows me can attest. So, I can't really share some story of schoolyard crushes or a hormone-fueled high school romance.
Meh, day 2 was a bust, sorry to disappoint all the many people who are obviously reading this.

Yeah, I'm hoping on the band wagon, but you know what? I'm bored and I didn't really even use my journal at all anyway, so why the hell not spam the small amount of people following me with pointless trivia about myself?
I suppose Day 1 is a bit pointless, I've already introduced myself, but here is a refresher course.
I'm a 22 year old former student (It's been about a week since graduation) with a BA in Psychology. I don't have a job, it used to be being a student, but now I'm just a mooch, it seems.
I like movies, that's probably my number one hobby. I also love to cook, and this knowledge had created a few people on IRC who love the idea of walking into a kitchen with me cooking dinner in nothing but an apron.
I think this whole "Getting to Know Me" thing or whatever the hell it's called will help people (Actually, I'm mainly referring to the one person who seemed to want me to do this) get to know me better, which may be a good or a bad thing. We'll see!

I'm Now Unemployed
Posted 14 years agoYes, after today I can no longer state that my occupation is 'Student" because I just graduated this morning cum laude with a degree in Psychology.
It was boring and hot and I had to do a lot of waiting around outside in my gown with someone I've never met who made a lot of bad jokes.
Not to mention I couldn't sleep at all last night. I woke up at 5:30, worked out at 6:30 and had to be on campus by 9.
So, I'm rather tired and currently a bit bored.
Oh well, at least I can take a week or two to just loaf around and catch on video games and reading.

Graduation
Posted 14 years agoI'm actually going to be graduating soon with a BA in Psychology. Which is pretty much a useless degree, so I'm not exactly rejoicing.
Actually, that's the weird thing, I don't really care that I'm graduating. I suppose it's a severe case of senioritis, because school this semester has been nothing but a chore. Granted, I don't really like any of my class, but I'm finding it so hard to really even care anymore, it's weird. I'm usually a very dedicated student to will flip out if I get anything less than an A (well, I'd still flip out about something less than an A).
I've decided that because of this, I'm probably going to take a year off between graduation and grad school. Plus, it will help me to possibly get some experience in the field and take the GRE again so I can get into one of my first choice schools and possibly into the PhD program as opposed to the MA.
So, I don't really know why I'm writing this other than the fact that I'm bored and the other alternative is working on a paper (which is due in several days, so I'm not slacking that much).
How about this, what should I do in my time off? I know of a few people that would suggest I drive over and visit them :p But I'm really trying to think of what to do to make this time worthwhile and constructive.

Introducing...
Posted 14 years agoI realize that I've been on here for over a year, so it's a bit late to try and really introduce myself, but I'm kind of bored at the moment and I figured that I'd write something here and see what happens.
I thought I'd just write about myself, to see if anyone really cares, or sees it and maybe thinks that I'm someone worth watching, even though I don't really have much to offer. I can't draw, so there's not going to be any sexy pictures popping up as time goes by.
For starters, I'm 22 and I'm a college student. That's really my main occupation, as it were. I worked at Wal-Mart, a seasonal job in toys. It's essentially my 'Nam, because I hate kids and I was the only person working the department during the hectic holiday season.
I major in Psychology, and I'm set to graduate within a few months which my bachelor's, which is really a worthless degree, to be honest. I'm going to have to go to graduate school and pursue at least a master's to have any real sort of job in the psychological field, preferably counseling.
But that's all rather boring, at least, I prefer it to be boring. When the topic of my future psych degree comes up, I usually get a "Meh, that's interesting" or people expecting me to offer some sort of counseling over irc (Yep, I'm on IRC, if anyone's interested. The nick is Emilio, nothing fancy), and that's not something I'm really prepared to do, not that counseling should be done on IRC in general.
As for hobbies, since that's really all I have at the moment. I really like movies. Which is rather appropriate since I just finished watching the Oscars, which is Gay Superbowl, really. I'm glad to say that I'm rather eclectic in the movies I like. I've liked foreign language films, silent films, old black and white films as well as recent films (Like 9 out of 10 of the Best Pictures Nominees from tonight). But if I had to claim a preference, I do love 30's and 40's Melodramas with my hero, Bette Davis. I know that's not terribly interesting (But hey, if you share an interest, send me a message).
One of my favorite things to do is to find weirdness, usually in movies. I truly love the bizarre movies that people either shrug off as too weird or outright horrible. Not that I like horrible movies and think that they're actually good, but sitting down and watching Showgirls with all of its campy awesomeness and satisfy like no other. Or The Room, which is just amazing in how wretched it is.
I know I'm rambling, but such is the nature of a journal entry written out of boredom at almost 1 AM by someone who's never done it before.
Oh well. Some other things about me....let me thing. I'm shy. I can have trouble talking to one person, but oddly enough I can talk in front of a crowd with no problem. I like to read, which seems to become a rarer and rarer hobby, I love me some video games. I'm an RPG nut, at least in the video game sense, I've never D&D'ed before. It's obvious that I'm reaching for random stuff to say, which is why if there is something you want to know, send me a message, talk to me on IRC or something because I have no idea what you crazy kids want.
Oh, I'm also white trash. Well, in a sense. I was born into white trash, and I think it's hereditary, so while I'm literate, finished high school, and have no arrests or illegitimate children I'm destined to be white trash forever. I guess that's mildly interesting, right?
Also, please forgive any spelling errors, because I type way too fast and have trouble noticing my own mistakes.
