im dolphin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted 10 months agoA lot of you know this already, but... I'm switching sonas.
im dolphin now!!!! (usually. I'm gonna be flexible with it!)
I love Vani, of course, and always will, but she's not really represented Me for a while. I wanted to have a better representation of that. And a more flexible one.
So, in comes a flippery fellow. Hello!
You can still call me Vani for now. I can't figure out if I want to change my name around. It'll come to me with time, and it'll take a while to figure a lot of stuff out.
It's great to have more like a sona, instead of just A Character. I hope you guys like them as much as I do. <3

Changing my 'Sona. Eventually!
Posted a year agoHi there! It's been a minute since I've made a journal. I've been doing well in general, no big things to note!
Apart from that, though...
I will be changing my sona.
At some point.
For those not in the loop, I've been heavily going over... who I am, I suppose. Gender, how I present, what I want to be.
I've been thinking for the past, like, year and a half, that... Vani doesn't actually really fit who I am. She hasn't for a while. Love her to absolute bits and back, but she's not... Me. And I'm not her.
For a decent while I've been pondering what to do, how to go about it, and all that. A lot of it goes along in parallel with figuring out who and what I am IRL, too. My identity has been in flux, and so without knowing who I am, I couldn't really have a good representation of who I am, either.
I think I've gotten to the point where I understand who I am a bit better. I don't think it's a process that'll ever particularly end, but I'm getting there.
And along with that, I've been able to get together my thoughts on who I want my sona to be, too.
It's still very unclear, and I'm not amazingly close to an answer. But it's at least become 100% sure that Vani isn't who represents me. That, I know for certain. And changing Vani to be something else is pretty much tantamount to changing Mario to be blue because it fits better. Vani has her own identity, so to speak, and it feels completely wrong to change that.
So... I'll be trying on some new looks. Some new feelings. Seeing what feels right, what doesn't. It'll take time! Even on top of how long it's taken to get here.
It's a scary change to me, too. I've really only been Vani for most of my time in this community. Changing that is a big deal for me. It's very, very new. So bear with me!
And, to be clear: don't worry, Vani herself isn't going anywhere. She is still an absolutely beloved character of mine. She'll still have art, text, and all the rest! She's just not going to be my sona -- who I present as -- anymore, coming up.
So stick around! There's gonna be new stuff abound. I hope you can get as much into it as I hope I can.
See you around!
PS:
I think, one important change I want to go for...
They/them, please.
Thank you for reading. <3

Tips for those coming to Pittsburgh for Anthrocon!
Posted 3 years agoSo, I'm going to AC! Finally, after living within *literal walking distance* for more than 6 years, I am finally going to the con! I've never been to any kind of con, so it'll be a fun learning experience for me.
Figure I might as well take the time to put out some info regarding Pittsburgh if you're coming here for AC, since I'm a native! And I'm happy to answer questions, too.
Primary thing: *don't bother with downtown.* (or, dahntahn, as we say.) AC might be there, as are some hotels you might stay in, but otherwise, it's not particularly interesting, fun, or really worth sticking around. (Besides the Point State Park and the riverwalk, those are nice and pretty.) Pittsburgh is an incredibly "decentralized" city, so to speak: the "downtown" area is only a very tiny part of the city, and one that I really think isn't worth the time if you want to go get food, explore the city, see the sights, etc. It's not like it's bad or you're in danger or anything, it's just boring and overpriced. Check out the Strip District, North Side, South Side (all of which are within walking distance from the Convention Center), and Oakland, Bloomfield, and Squirrel Hill (among others) for far, far, far better food, things to do, stuff to see, and just a much better representation of the city overall! If you want restaurant or things to do suggestions, do ask! I was roommates with someone really involved in the food scene here, as well as just... living here, so I know soooo many of the best places around for all kinds of cuisine, and all the best fun things to do.
Second thing: oh my god if you can avoid driving please do so. Pittsburgh is an absolutely *awful* city for driving, in literally every way, shape, and form. The infrastructure sucks, the layout makes no sense, everything hates you. There's a reason multiple self-driving car companies have done, and are still doing, test drives around Pittsburgh, and that's because, *if you can drive in Pittsburgh, you can drive ANYWHERE.* Take advantage of our public transit or walk! In the downtown and north side area, the light rail (known as the T) is entirely free. Bus fare is $2.75 for 3 hours of unlimited rides. We have a robust bikesharing program including electric-assist bikes, and a (sometimes) pretty good bike route network. Pittsburgh is also pretty darn pedestrian friendly for the most part. If you must drive, use caution, pay attention to what's up next (because it gets confusing, fast,) and never trust that anything will make sense.
Thirdly: Don't be too worried here. Obviously, keep your wits about you and don't just leave stuff out in the open or expect everyone to be honest (or not weird), but Pittsburgh is a pretty darn safe city for the very most part. You won't get stabbed or shot out in the open or anything. Obviously, it's still a city, and bad stuff does happen, but it really is pretty alright around here.
Fourthly: Enjoy the sights! Be a tourist! Pittsburgh isn't really a "touristy" city, so attractions may be slightly lacking in that department, but what it does mean is that none of it is the kind of predatory low-quality stuff you'd get elsewhere. Stuff to do here is legitimately high quality and really nice (outside of downtown, and maybe the Gateway Clipper. Even that's not bad, though.), so don't be afraid to go and see the sights. Take the Incline (seriously, it's really awesome and the view you get is unparalleled.), go to the museums, etc. It's legitimately nice to do. And keep your eyes out for random cool things scattered around, there's artifacts of Pittsburgh's industrial past and lots of weird and cool art in random places around for you to discover.
Last, and most specifically: Don't go to "Peace, Love, and Little Donuts." It's a donut shop nearby that's gained a bit of fame. The owner is an absolute, monstrous piece of fucking shit, entirely unfitting the name the store has. Don't be fooled.
And that's a long winded post of random stuff! I honestly doubt more than like, 2 people are going to actually find this useful, but, hey. It's something! And if you're going, feel free to message me if you want to say hi and grab a lunch or coffee or drink or something!
See yinz 'round!

Posted 4 years agoEverything back to normal. Yay!
Heads up: My twitter account was locked.
Posted 4 years agoHi there!
Posting a journal here since I figure it's the most universal way of saying this beyond DMs.
My Twitter account was locked because I fixed the incorrect birth date that was set on it.
Doing this apparently made Twitter realize that I apparently made the account before I was 13 years old (nearly 10 fucking years ago), and so completely disabled it because of that. No warning, no info beforehand, no choices afterwards, no nothing.
I'm working on the appeal to hopefully bring it back.
Whether I can get it back at all seems under question. Hopefully I can, but anecdotes around the internet aren't hopeful.
We'll see what happens, but all I can do right now is wait. Hopefully I can get back to it soon, or at all, cause I've got a few buds and good posts there, but we'll see.
I'll keep peoples updated on here as to what happens.

I've released two new albums!
Posted 4 years agoFor those who didn't know, I make music as a pastime.
And now, finally, after a 3 and a half year hiatus, I've finally uploaded two new albums, both of which feature music which will be included in the upcoming game Oceanfarm, by Giik!
I'm honored to be the composer for his game, and I would love if you could take a listen to some of the music I made. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. I'm so, so happy to finally release something official.

Feel free to let me know what you think! There will be more soon enough, too.

-4 Wisdom Lost!
Posted 4 years ago4 teeth fewer.
4 new holes acquired.
Wisdom decreased.
Got my wisdom teeth out today. Well, yesterday, but, close enough. I passed out almost immediately after getting home so I didn't have much time to journal it.
I had no idea so much blood could come from one area of my darn face.
Everything seems to have gone well, though. Have feeling all through my face. It's sore as hell, but not too bad with tylenol. I get to have an excuse to do literally nothing but watch garbage videos all day. Yay!

New Account: Introducing Enceladusmech!
Posted 5 years agoHi everyone!
As a select few of you may know, I've got some... Machine interests, that go beyond just robots!
Yes, this includes good ol' planes and automobiles.
That's weird! So I'm not gonna post 'em here, cause I know a lot of people are not into that whatsoever.
Instead, I'm gonna post them to my newly-created alt,
Enceladusmech!
Over there you'll find all my mechanical interests that aren't just your fairly typical robots like I've listed so far.
If you aren't into that, no worries! Your regular programming will continue.
If you are into that, go give my new account a look-see!
Once again for posterity:

No, actually.

But I do live here, and I've been wanting to meet some of you guys for a long time. If you want to do anything at all while you're here in Pittsburgh, any time, hit me up, let me know.
Really. I mean it.
I'll let you in on the best food around and the best stuff to do while you're here.
But if you're busy doing stuff, that's fine too! And you enjoy yourself while you're here. <3

Hi!
Posted 7 years agoHi!
Just wanted to say hi, and I'm not dead. Still lurking around!
There should be a couple of uploads fairly soon, just gotta find the time (not be lazy) and get everything together for once.
I moved back to my sister's house a while ago, due to my cousin and I not getting along very well in the long run. So I'm back here, and I think I like it better, even if I don't have gigabit internet.
So yeah, not much else is going on. Just bein a snek!
