R.I.P Athus
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm shocked, stunned, at a loss for words upon hearing the news.
Just another follower like so many, to hear the passing of him is tragic and saddening. I admired his work as many did and enjoyed reading his little tales when he used to post on LiveJournal. Alas a life cut short too young is never what anyone wants to hear.

In memory and condolences to those he was close to, a site to visit and leave your comments, marks or special farewells.

A tribute
General | Posted 14 years agoAbout a month ago, a friend of mine lost his father due to complications in the hospital. After being faced with a difficult decision to operate on, the choice came too late as the doctors could not help him.
I received an e-mail about an upcoming Halloween party with a link that he created to pay tribute to his father.
It was very moving and like his family and close friends, I'll miss his father as much as anyone.
We take life for granted far too much and only when we lose someone close, do we stop and finally take a look at our surroundings, only to find it changed too much. More people should get out of the fast lane and take it one day at a time.

Cowboys & Aliens
General | Posted 14 years agoWent and saw it Friday. Pretty good movie and the concept in strange in a new way. Sci-Fi meeting Western. Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford make a good pair, though never thought I'd see Ford play some crankorous old man. . .
Creepy. . but still fun! :)

General | Posted 14 years agoNo, its not a joke or silly gag.
While browsing through Yahoo and interesting article came up listing the top five most expensive little fast food items.
So who wants to blow a grand on a bagel? Or how about $5,000 for a burger? Better yet why not get get the sundae that well set you back $25,000.

Last day
General | Posted 14 years agoToday is last day of class for Spring.
Then come summer it's gonna be spent going to a different college. Lets face it, MTSAC was great back then when there was room and classes to take. These days its been such a bitch just to get in, let alone grab a class, one might as well not go.
So shooting for Fullerton. Since they have more room and more classes with less hassle. . .Ah needs luck plz nao.
Or win the lottery >.>; you know. . . .
Just sayin. . .

End of the world fiasco tomorrow?
General | Posted 14 years ago>.> Zombie Apocolypse?
This another suttle suggest at some upcoming zombie movie we've yet to hear wind about? Or another fanatical end of days bit again.
Look, honestly. People been talking about the end of the world for centuries now. So unless God blows a gasket one day and nukes us with a rock from space, I'm going to treat tomorrow like any other day.
Just to be on the safe side I have a stocked ammunition box complete with zombie kibble maker and shells aplenty :P On a side note:
Anyone know of a console repair shop nearby? Problem with my PS3 arose and the culprit is the lens o.o.
Also. . adoptions. Been noticing them popping up all over? This for people who (no offense to anyone) are just unable to think a character up? O.o?

General | Posted 14 years agoLast week, I'm wrapping up a few things in my room alone since everyone is gone for the day. A package was dropped off, addressed to my youngest brother so I leave it be. He returns a few hours later and I hear the sounds of the box being opened up. He then comes into my room and drops off a large rectangular object while saying,"Here. Happy Birthday."
Note said object weighs quite a bit and bears the words "PlayStation 3".
I promptly spazz for the next. . . oooh I don't know 15 minutes before he leaves a controller, the plug and adapter plus three games in total: God of War 3. Ratchet&Clank: Future Tools of Destruction and Ratchet&Clank: A Crack in Time.
My brother got me a PS3 that has backwards compatabiliy with PS2 and 1 games. Which means this is one of the older models before Sony downsized and axed those components.
Damn. . never thought I would own a next gen gaming system while they are still around :o Few friends have been pestering me into getting one, but with my finances being as they are, that was next to nothing.
PS: My brother got himself a PSP with a few games as well.

Birthday
General | Posted 14 years agoSo yesterday, my sister took me out for a birthday breakfast.
Needless to say, I'm very indecisive when it comes to eating out. I tend to just stick with the normal routines. So she is firing off entrees like waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon etc.
IHOP came to mind and it sounded reasonable, until she mentioned another restaurant. BC Cafe. Its a small place located in Montclair that sticks with breakfast and lunch. I trust her taste so we went there.
Holy moley, great heaping portions Batman! D:
If your gonna eat at BC I recommend you share a meal. They're servings are enough to feed a couple people PER dish @.@
Thought maybe she was joking about the size servings but dang! They serve pancakes the size of dinner plates D: and their omelettes as deliciously tasty as they are are made with FOUR eggs, yes four.
So I know have lunch and dinner for the next couple of days. Oh and my brother bought me Left 4 Dead on Steam for a giftie :3
ZOMBIE KIBBLE AWAITS!
Later today Im going out with family and having a birthday lunch, since everyone is free and not working :) To Farrells!

I dun messed up my left foot.
General | Posted 14 years agoTuesday.
Was summoned to watch the shop that day, a rariety given its mainly a Weds method. Shop possess a stubborn old, chain link fence that runs on tracks. It's always a pain to close given it catches on on the poor fence all itself and is downright just bothersome.
The lower corner snagged my left shoe while I struggled to pull the thing close. No knowing this, I added a little too much mmf to the pull and ended up getting smashed against the other end. My left foot suffered the brunt of the force and totally knew I bruised it up badly :/ Trying to un catch the shoe from the gate was even more bothersome so I ended up tearing it up. Not that it matters given its old and reaching the end of its use anyway.
So now I have a really bad bruised left foot and the one swollen toe. Freaked a few people out (mother included) and they look at it and say I could have broken it. That does not help me at all. If I did manage to successfully fracture my foot, I'm screwed over. I have no health insurance and don't make enough to cover expenses outside car insurance and barely the phone and tooth I'm still paying off.
So what good would it do me if it is THAT bad? :( Nice unbirthday present to bestow upon my self.

I shall be 30. I don't care what people say about 30 being the new 20. Still feel old as hell. And don't sass me about the 40 age limit D:
Can't help but laugh as a silbing of mine mentioned it landing on Earth Day. Yeah. . known that April 22nd recently (don't know how long ago they started this.) became Earth Day.
So the week of my birthday, my oldest brother and his wife will be down for the week which will be fun. :) Then my sis's birthday will come up (She was born on the 20th. Got to be the rather. . popular date in the month sadly given the hype behind that number. . for obvious reasons >.>) She does not know what she'll be doing though which is kinda sad. But then again as you age, the many, many ideas you wanted to do as a kid just kinda fades.

Hell of a shift.
General | Posted 15 years agoWe are all aware of the terrible event that was unleashed upon Japan Friday. I remember it Thursday while at a friend's house and we were just channel surfing.
As the days that followed the people have had to cope with one small disaster after the next. The loss of power in cold temperatures, the threat of their nuclear plants suffering damage and risking melt downs. And the supposed tide of bodies that washed ashore later.
While we are fascinated by Mother Nature's power when Discovery and Nat Geo shows them, its far different when it's truly unleashed upon the denizens of the planet. It goes to show that we have no control over the elements, not matter how hard we try and desire to manipulate them. It also shows that the earth's surface continiously moves and does not simply sit on one place.
Point given.
While browsing Yahoo, I came across an article that stunned me. We move little by little each year like inches or centimeters. The quake that shook Japan had managed to move them 13 feet. . .yes. 13 feet towards the US. It also sunk Japan by a depth of 2 ft as it goes, thus the following Tsunami after.

All I can say is. . .wow. That was one heck of a push.

Valentine's Day
General | Posted 15 years agoThe day of love, mateship etc. Where the guys spoil their favorite girls with gifts roses and many other various thoughts and ideas.
What about those who can not see their opposite? I've thought about this and decide that rather then be negative towards this days as I've read the past few years, instead leave a little something that loved ones can mayhaps listen to and await that day when they can hold their others hand once more.
Enigma
Sitting on the Moon
I'm sitting on the moon
Watching planet blue, hello
Looking all around
Rotating without sound, where are you?
Where are you?
I'm sitting on the moon
Where are you?
I'm missing you.
I come from very far
A little unknown star, hello
I don't know what to do
It feels so cold and blue, without you
Where are you?
I'm sitting on the moon
Where are you?
I'm missing you.

Rain!
General | Posted 15 years agoTis raining again as the new year is upon us.
Any resolutions, one might be asking? Not really sure at this point, things have been up in the air lately and to make new years resolutions is not exactly on the top list.
2010 has been one of those years. Many a face come and go, only to return with regret and guilt, asking for forgiveness. Some are quick to judge and pass punishment without reason, others allow a second chance and perhaps a better life.
With the passing of famous actors this past year, seeing Anthony Hopkins in another movie around the corner, I can't help but start to fear for him. How much longer does dear ol Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lector have until he is too is but in our memories?
I can only wish he lives another decade at least and continue to woo the audience with his unique personality and traits :) As for other things in life, a new year brings new hope and chance for finding a job, hopefully. Only can not continue to sustain oneself on this weekend thing. Here's to hoping finding something that will not kill my back and not be boring.

A week of Wetness.
General | Posted 15 years agoLast Friday saw the start of a almost week long storm that hammered us for much of this week.
It really didn't die down until early Weds, but during its cold stay, it managed to cause havoc across Southern CA. From floodings, to mudslides and closure of freeways.
But it was something we needed very badly, so there was an upside. Now as the mountain range in the distance looks decent for once all decked out in snow for this winter, we can take a breather until X-mas day when a weaker storm blows through.
I missed the lunar eclipse during this time, so sad to say I was not among the many who enjoyed the supposed rare sight occurring on the Winter Solstice.
Tomorrow I head in early for workshop watching as its Eve and many are leaping out to get a jump start on these holidays. I bid you all a Merry and safe Christmas this year and hope you get almost everything on your lists.

Finals
General | Posted 15 years agoSo tomorrow will be my last final before I am done with the fall semester.
Then I will be free until Spring. . before the madness that ensued on Fall starts up once again.
And the results were the same when people were scrambling for winter. Overflowed waiting lists with no openings.
Im starting to dread Spring coming around with this unwanted stress and insanity awaiting.

Dentist
General | Posted 15 years agoCame back from the dentist.
The diagnosis: A root canal with a post crown. All for the low, low price of $1200.
Option. . only option seeing as I have NO insurance: $400 down payment with monthly payments to follow.
Great way to start the month of November huh. :/

The Walking Dead
General | Posted 15 years agoDid not disappoint last night.
It lived up to being a good start to a series surrounding zombies. Finally. . after a month an a half of AMC plastering the commercials all over. And then on Halloween. . every FIVE MINUTES!
Gawd we get the point. See the walking dead tonight. Good lord is this what you do with donations, etc . . pour then into future release and keep showing the commercials until our eyes bleed?
So after a day of watching Halloween moves, followed by From Dusk Till Dawn, then Dawn of the Dead (remake.), I say this will be a good series. Zoooooooombieeeeeeees.
In other news. I broke a tooth early last week by doing something impossible. Flossing. Yes, that's right I broke it while flossing. And no not with steel wiring. Just plain mint flavored, wax dental floss. I still do not know how I managed to pull that one off @.@

Cataclysmic Dream
General | Posted 15 years agoWith WoW: Cataclysm being around the corner about a little over a month and a few days, I had a vivid and biazaare dream involving the world of Azeroth. I think the drink I had at a Halloween party Saturday night may have played a role in this too. @.@
As many know Azeroth goes under a huge re-landscaping session, thanks to Deathwing breaking free of his prison deep below. And while many of the lands suffer and the races cope, my dream made it a bit more. . chaotic.
For starters, Stormwind and Orgimmar are literally ripped from their land foundations and sent hurling to some unknown island where they clash and converge into one semi-huge city so to speak. Oddly Wyrnn and Thrall create an uneasy truce, even though I know Wyrnn has a great dis-like of all ogres, despite Jaina's diplomatic efforts to keep the Alliance and Horde from butchering one another.
As they go their separate ways to tend to their own kingdoms, this Cataclysm focuses on three main people instead of the many players. An Orc, whom I couldn't catch the name of, whose traveling partner is a dark troll mage (I know dark mages. . .new class or something.) On the Alliance side and this is where its strange, we have a Blood Elf outcast whose traveling partner is a gnome mage. Each I'm guessing has been commanded by Thrall and Wyrnn to investigate, seek the cause and perhaps help on ending Deathwing's wrath.
As for the third person, I seem to have taken control of this guy. He has no name also, instead is referred to as a "Fallen Deity." Apparentely he was
supposedly in charge of keeping watch over Deathwing, to make sure he does not escape and keep the Alliance and Horde in a peaceful era. Seeing how Deathwing broke free and wreaked havoc on the lands, he is punished and cast from his place and sent to Azeroth by the higher ups. Some of the other deities take pity on him and aide him in his quest, requesting him to "remember who he once was."
His journey begins at the Brazier of Orgwind (where Stormwind and Orgimmar clashed.) He has no ally partner to journey with, going the solo way. All three's first agenda is to head to Deepholme where a possible clue may be hidden. Flying to the place is a bit of a hassle as the elements that were released are creating instabilities all over Azeroth.
The dream ends when all three enter Deepholme and that was it.
The scenery was insane and remarkable despite the chaotic nature of the lands. I just wish I knew more about it.

General | Posted 15 years agoEnough with the taunting, rain some more already. No partial clouds with the sun peeking out, just dump a few more inches on us, clear out for Halloween then come back and repeat process on and off till December. >.>
Yes I like the rain. . course I like fall and winter more then spring and summer, being extremely warm blooded and loathing the warm seasons.
Nothing going on Hallow's Eve save for the possibility of watching a shop on the weekend. There is however a nice Halloween party this coming weekend that I am so going and bringing food as well.
I'm also feeling the pinch of being tight on money, seeing as after the call from EDD a couple weeks ago, those bozos think I'm working full time again and cut the checks again.
Hate being poor and penniless to say the least.

In Loving Rememberance
General | Posted 15 years agoA year ago, one fated night, a dear friend's life was tragically cut short at the hands of a reckless drunk.
Kit's voice and personality was silenced forever at the hands of someone who could have chosen a different path and thus spared her friends and close one the pain of her loss. Instead they chose a more cruel decision and thus their life ended in the process.
We remember Kit always and to her friends forever loved. I found this to stick to my heart and soul when I think of her and now I give it unto you.

May you find solace in the gentle arms of sleep
Despite the wolves outside your door
In time you will see them all as harmless
And their idle threats easy to ignore
And if ever fate should choose to smite you
Stand your ground, never walk away
Please don't ever let the world defeat you
Don't get buried in its decay
As you drift into the gauzy realm of dreams
May you take comfort in the thought that you are safe
For it only takes a fraction of a second
For all of this to change
Return to me
When slumber's fog has lifted
Return to me
Stronger than before
As you sink beneath the soothing streams of time
May you be thankful that you had another day
For there comes a time when each of us will enter
A sleep from which we will never wake
And if ever fate should choose to smite you
Stand your ground, never walk away
Please don't ever let the world defeat you
Don't get buried in its decay
Close your eyes now, if only for a moment
For it's time you get some rest
The wolves are gone and nothing here can harm you
Let go of your fragile consciousness
Return to me
When slumber's fog has lifted
Return to me
Stronger than before

Why?
General | Posted 15 years agoWhy is it, we strive to avoid getting hurt in every possible way, yet our bodies are prone to messing themselves over without any indication, provacation or guidance what so ever.
Case in point:
I screwed up my left side, having pulled or yanked the lateral muscle on Monday without any knowledge of how I pulled it off. Given the injury its gonna take a week or two for it to heal. . .joy :(
What's worse is despite the heating pad and other remedies to combat this, it has a damn tendency to contract and spazm on me rather painfully, thus hindering my ability to stretch or move much. Driving in itself is hard and uncomfortable given the location :/
How do we manage insane stuff like this?

Housesittin and weekend.
General | Posted 15 years agoSo this past week had me house sitting while my mom and her cousin went road tripping. Normally it wouldn't be required, but due to my uncles unfortunate accident that resulted in some head trauma and messed up back, it has to be taken care of.
His mind has been a bit messed up due to the accident and thus a gentle reminder to take his pills are needed. Other then that he is ok as far as taking care of himself for the most part. That and watching the hyper attention wanting boxer as well.
During the week I did manage to see "The Departed" With Leonardo De'Caprio, Matt Damon and Jack. I do say it was great. . up until the twistie ending that had me pointing fingers going. whuut?
Movies like that really throw me off there. . .just when you think you know whats going on, that happens. Kinda like Resevoir Dogs.
