Welp another year goes by. Had a lot of hard things to deal with last year, but overall I continued to work on an animated trailer for my game despite that. It's something that's meant to play as a reward for completing the demo I have, which is about as done as it's going to ever be since I don't have the means to fix it up any better than it is now. I had an animatic done for the trailer last winter and it took me all year long to do the backgrounds for it, there were 28 of them. I finished the hardest of the backgrounds just a week or so ago. Judging from my posting habits I think you can understand why I posted even less this year than usual because of it, haha;;
So I've been working on that all year long, but I also became fascinated by vtubing and wanted to make my own vtuber too, as you have seen from some pics I've posted lately of my character Locke! I've learned Live2D in order to make a model last winter, but then I wanted a 3D version so I learned Blender, Substance Painter, Unity, VSeeFace, iFacialMocap and all the steps inbetween to make that happen in the last few months as well. So yeah I've been busy, just on a lot of behind the scenes stuff... as I usually do OTL
As for my Nameless stuff, it's still there! I'm not dumping it, I just put it on the backburner for now, until I get these current things over with. The website I was setting up for it mostly just needs some backgrounds done for one page and I was planning to commission someone to do those because I hate doing cityscapes hahaha.
I really do apologize for wanting to do so much secret work, it's the curse of being a big project person. I hope to share more eventually, and if I really can't finish that game trailer then I'll try my best to clean up the animatic I made and just have the trailer be that.

It's been a long while since I last updated! Hope everyone is doing well lately~
So I just wanted to give a quick update on what I've been up to since the last time you really heard from me! My main ongoing projects so far are still that 3D platformer game I've been picking at for years now and my Nameless project, of which you can already see at least the main characters for in my gallery.
So for news on my game, I've actually picked up a lot of steam on it in the last year, and there's enough in place to just about have a full demo released! I'm still working on a dungeon area right now and finishing up on small tasks like trying to add volumetric clouds to the scene, or just trying to change up the house interiors so they don't just all look identical. Overall though, what I would release is ultimately only meant to be a proof of concept rather than 100% what the final game would look like, as I'm pretty much the only person left working on it now. I intend to release the demo for everyone to play around with, and use it to try and get a source of funding, and after that to hire a proper team to make the real game afterwards. In terms of how long it will take to release the demo, it might take months more still, mostly to put together some promo art and animation for it! It would be the animation taking up most of that time.
In regards to the Nameless project, I'm still working on it! I just took a break after the last ref sheet I did to work on my game and other things, from that Mermay painting to some gift art I'd been meaning to do for people for a long time. But I have recently continued working on the website for this, and it's coming together nicely so far! I do often feel bad that I'm doing all this secret extra work that you guys aren't seeing, because it looks like I barely do anything at all. This is the curse of trying to do big projects, but I just can't help myself. o(-<Updates!

Man it's been a while since my last journal haha~
Hope you guys have been well and safe during the lockdown overall! I know it's not an ideal situation for everyone. I've overall been thriving at home, mainly saving tons of money due to not needing to use buses/subways/streetcars/Uber to get to and from work, as well as not being seduced by the nice restaurants near my studio anymore.
So the pitch contest stuff ended and I didn't win, but I still got a personal meeting about my pitch despite not being a finalist, so there must have been something good about mine XD. But yeah I just need to keep working on it and try again one day when I feel like it. It was a nice experience overall.
As you can see though I've been picking up the pace a little bit on my Nameless idea with designs, and yesterday I made some more progress on a website for that! I'm getting ever closer to the day when I can finally start writing out chapters. I have enough planned to at least do the first chapter, but I need to plan out the rest first so I don't just jump in and realize I wrote myself into a dead end from poor planning, lmao.
Also still working on a personal game project, the same one I've been working on for years with a friend. I ended up having to redo the demo level in Unity so I've been busy with that. Hopefully that will also be done relatively soon, but even if I released a demo I don't have the means yet to hire an actual team to work on this game. But yeah if that ever ends up being shown, I think it's something you guys might like~ ^^Going Ons in the New Year

Hope everyone is enjoying the new year so far!
Work is kicking my ass a little every since I got back, but at least my motivation to draw has returned for the most part! As usual a lot of what I work on is stuff that is part of bigger projects that I can't show most or anything for yet, which sucks but I wanted people to know that I'm still out there, drawing something XD
I'm also working on a show pitch for my studio! It would be really cool if my pitch got chosen, it's like a contest. If it gets chosen then I hope that based on my personal art that it's something you guys would enjoy as well <3
I also finally bought pokemon sword! I'm enjoying it so far, but man idk why it feels like it takes to long to level. Perhaps I'm leveling in the wrong area or I should just move on to the first gym already haha. I definitely ned to unlock breeding anyways because all of my pokemon somehow were caught with the worst possible natures for their stats lmao~Le cri

Man, I'm having such a hard time with drawing lately, nothing's coming out the way I want it to q-q
Hopefully my upcoming month off work will fix this, I feel so bad that I haven't posted so much lately;;
Basically I have several unfinished pics, some are character designs that I'm stuck on and others are fan art things that I just can't get right. I have a sketch page of my Nameless characters in the works too, it's coming along but slowly. Been playing Splatoon 2 again ever since the last splatfest happened as well as starting a new pokemon moon game.
In other news I'm excited to hear that Rune Factory 5 is being developed! I really hope this time that they have some good bachelor/bachelorette options this time, hopefully less that look like they're 12 years old. And there's going to be a monster rancher game remake too! I am excite~Going to Anime North!

Just a quick update this time, I've basically been toiling away since February on my costume for Anime North that's happening next weekend!
I'm going as Princess Mipha from Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and I also made a plush of her little brother Sidon that I'll be carrying around. I'm still doing crunch time on finishing all the jewelry on my costume so pics to come later XD

It is the decembertimes and I hope everyone had a great year so far!
I'm still busy with studio work and it seems like it will be the new norm. With that said I still try my best to post at least one thing a month for you guys. I blame all the online games as well lmao, I am trapped in them, send help :'D
I did start work on the new reference sheet for my OC Solitaire to go with Spades', I'm still planning to rework the gang into that reference style as well as toying with the idea of putting a website up where I can showcase them and have a place where you can at least read up on what my project Nameless idea is so far. A lot of the reason for its progress being so slow is just my indecisiveness on what I really want to do with this, if anything, and how I want to present things. I'm constantly stuck between wanting to tell you all about my characters and everything they go through and being like "no, you can't tell them because what if you make a story and you wanna save stuff to be revealed! Where's the showmanship?!"

Hello everyone and Happy Easter!
I was just going through my settings and I looked at the journal header/footer boxes, wondering what I could possibly do with them. I know my journals once I post them look really squished together and tiny, sometimes I find it hard to read XD
I was wondering if there were any really nice examples people have of what to put in those to frame each journal nicely? Like, do you put links to your other sites in there so it's a promotional space? Do you just put a bunch of elaborate text symbols so it's a literal decorative frame?
idk I can't think of anything I want to put right now, but I'm sure it would make my journals look... less squished XD

I've been really stressed about a lot of things lately, but a lot of it is just typical stuff like trying to get my taxes over with haha. Just a lot of introvert stress stuff. I actually found a job now working at a local animation studio downtown so I'm going to start that soon! There's still a lot I have to get done to prepare for that, I'm excited but also nervous aaahh;;
With that said, I probably won't need to do commissions for a while, so I hope I can find some time to post more personal art of my own characters instead.
I want to say thank you to everyone who helped me stay afloat throughout the years here. I really appreciate all the support that you guys have given me this whole time and for whomever will continue to support me and enjoy my personal art in the future! ;v;

Posted 7 years agoFor this month, I will be opening up ONE slot for a custom, one-of-a-kind icon commission since money is tight lately. It will go for $200-$250, depending on the complexity of the character and animation.
I've decided to discontinue the "color explosion" style fullbody commissions, and instead I will be offering another new option for "PAD" style fullbodies!
PAD style is "Puzzle and Dragons" style, as in character art done in a distinct, almost trading card-like illustration usually accompanied by swirling elemental effects, props, and/or partial backgrounds. Characters typically have multiple stages of artwork for their evolutions like here:

I've been really itching to do some more art in this way to make some more dynamic and exciting pieces, so I'll try to offer both stand alone PAD style pieces and PAD evolution bundles where a single character gets increasingly more extravagant artwork. The bundle is best for characters that might have other forms or special abilities of some kind! A stand alone PAD style pic will go for $100, and a bundle consisting of three pieces will go for $270.

I had an okay birthday, but it was absolutely freezing outside for most of it haha. At least I got some winter boots now! Now I won't get wet, dirty socks every day from trudging through snow and sleet in running shoes haha.

Posted 8 years agoI've been doing a few interviews for studios here and there in the past few weeks now, and I just got a few drawing tests handed to me as well so I'll have to see whether I'll have time this month to open commissions like I usually do!

Posted 8 years agoAfter a lot of consideration, I've decided to raise the prices of my commissions. It's been five years since I've started taking commissions and in order to keep up with inflation and taxes I have to do this. I haven't raised my prices since the very beginning, so I think it's a little overdue now. With higher prices I will also be able to improve the overall quality of commissions and afford the time to work on each one with more care. Character Design Bases
Posted 8 years agoI've been seeing some people around lately, selling PSD files of bases for characters that you can color and add to and make your own characters or adoptables from.
I wonder, if I started selling stuff like that, would people be interested? That, or t-shirt designs or a patreon or something? It's been difficult finding a full-time job at a studio and if it was possible to bring in some passive income I could use the freed up time to work on my portfolio, my game, and more personal art to share with everyone.
What do you all think? Is there something you enjoy seeing from me that you would like to see more of in the future?

Posted 8 years agoI've started offering a cheaper option for blink icons! $35 USD for a headshot of your OC doing a simple blink animation. This one isn't a template, all headshots will be drawn from scratch so it can be done from any angle or with any expression!
Also added a cheaper and more basic reference sheet option for $150 USD! The biggest difference from the $220 option is that there will be no shading or highlights on the poses or headshots.

Posted 8 years agoI just want everyone to be aware this month that I've been having difficulties with my wisdom teeth lately, and I've been having daily head pressures (that I really hope are only from my teeth and not something worse). It is possible that some commissions might have to be finished a few days after the month ends instead of before the end of the month like usual, while I look into it at the dentist and whatnot.

Shaded Reference Sheets...
Posted 8 years agoI've been seeing a lot of pushback over twitter on shaded reference sheets and it's made me feel like I shouldn't offer them in my commissions anymore. I just wanted to hear people's thoughts on this?
I completely understand the reasoning behind it, and the last time I saw those comments swirling around I even made a cheaper option for unshaded ref sheets in my commission journals. People continue to order my deluxe ref sheets with the shading regardless of that option though.
Seeing all this pushback on shaded ref sheets though has left me feeling guilty for weeks, since I've been doing them and I feel like I'm contributing to a problem...
I completely understand the reasoning behind it, and the last time I saw those comments swirling around I even made a cheaper option for unshaded ref sheets in my commission journals. People continue to order my deluxe ref sheets with the shading regardless of that option though.
Seeing all this pushback on shaded ref sheets though has left me feeling guilty for weeks, since I've been doing them and I feel like I'm contributing to a problem...
