Hello my darling Snausages! Hope you're all hale and hearty and such.
Been a busy few weeks, so don't think I've been avoiding you. Cranking out the words at night and going slowly mad at my day job. But, it looks like I've got another freelance opportunity out of it - with more to come. That's the good news...bad news is that the current deadline is pretty short, so I'll be up to my antler in dark-energy nightmares and silk-punk heroines for the next couple weeks before publication. If I'm quiet, that's why.
Switching gears inspiration-wise is going to be strange though. Right now my green-haired muse is positively stuck on western Gothics... Dark Country is pretty much on permanent repeat at the moment :P Not really conducive with Sci-Fi XD Unless it's Firefly, I suppose...heh. Ooo... you know that might work... *disappears in a flurry of paper and rulebooks*
Seriously, stay frosty over this Labor Day weekend! <3

Watching: Magic City, Season 1
Playing: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Eating: Chips Ahoy!
Drinking: Coffee... for your protection
So, I have the draft of my current project out the door... just in time for me to have a nervous breakdown (d100 sanity loss). At least the editor kept wanting Mo' Words of Death. We'll see how it goes, but for now I think I need a break from living putrescence. I swear, anyone that looked at my current 'search' history would run away very, very fast... Did you know that autolysis causes human cadavers to liquefy and explode? Of course, now that I've been going to sleep to the sound tracks of Silent Hill, Kholat, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent for several weeks, all I want to do is keep writing more horror. It's like curling up with an old friend... if said friend happened to be a Cthulhoid monstrosity.
Before I go back to the grind - pronounced: KIRIN NEEDS MONEY BADLY - I think I'll reward myself with some Metal Gear craziness tonight. And then it's back to the millstone for me...
Thanks again for being patient with me, cuties. Wish I could be writing Mo' Furry Goodness rather than cover letters and such. Someday, I'll be back on my hooves, I hope.

So, Britain is leaving the EU and I turn a year older; not necessarily connected... or are they? So, this weekend is gonna suck donkey sausage :P
Well, maybe not. I'm getting free Vietnamese soup, got paid for one of my projects, got great reviews for the other, and started playing one of the best games I've ever encountered MGS5. So, going to try to drown my EU and birthday sorrows with gaming and vodka. After all, that's how you're supposed to be a writer.
So, hope everyone has a lovely weekend... I'm off to make my Brexit mixtape... starts rummaging through my Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, and The Cramps collection.

Reading: The Scarlet Gospel by Clive Barker... seriously, hooks should not go up...there :P
Watching: Death Stranding... Yes, a thousand times, YES
Playing: Final Fantasy 6
Eating: Chocolate thin Oreos...they're healthy because it says 'thin' in the title
Drinking: My second pot of coffee
Nearly done the first draft of my current professional project. Having just poked my head up from all the blood, paint, and rotted flesh (metaphorical... or is it?), I watched the Playstation E3 conference. So much awesome, it makes my head swim. The crowning moment - for me - was the gorgeous WTFness of KOJIMA's upcoming game, Death Stranding. Gives me all the inspiration I need to finish up my own brand of crazy. Now that I have my second wind, going to crush out the word count and then chip away the nasty. So another round of quiet I suspect.
Seriously though, I'm probably going to be increasingly quiet, as more projects get offered. I do love being back in the Dark World - all symbolism and viscera. Probably shocks a few of you that my main writing is actually horror. I watched The Witch to relax, for example XD (See it... see it NOW). Unfortunately, it leaves little time for the furry-writing. So sorry about that. I swear, I'll scratch out a few moments to finish Chapter Two of Curse and the sequel to Balloon Moon Rising. But, until they pay 5 cents a word, gotta focus on the pro-work.
And now some full frontal nudity LOL

This long weekend I'll be dropping off the grid even more than I've already been. I have a deadline coming up for my newest contract, so will be losing myself in writing about dead people... and not so dead people. And stabbing paint brushes in squishy places I've already formulated one of the darkest playlists for inspiration... which was surprisingly easy when I actually looked at my music collection heh. To relax, I'll be joining the Double Dip Weekend event on Armello multiplayer... so if you see Otterpoet wrapping herself in Rot, say hello
Otherwise, I'm still struggling with recent personal crap... worn thin by it all. Thank you all for your loving support. It's definitely helped the last terrible month. You guys never cease to amaze.
Enjoy your long weekend, angels. Eat, drink, and be moderately merry.

I'm glad for the work-opportunity, but I really could have done with the break. I have a wisdom tooth coming in; pain is right off the charts. So, being creative while the side of my face feels like it's been kicked in by a mule will be... delightful :P And, last but not least, I need to get an Open Call submission done by Monday.
In short, I'll be away for longer than I hoped. If I don't write back, it's either because I'm busy or curled into a fetal ball XD
Hope you guys have a lovely rest of the month.

FoxySox and Queen Zeeba for sure... So, poke me to remind me what you want me to be reading, please... it'll be a nice distraction from the grim subject matter I'm writing XD
Had another crappy week, so added a new member to my harem of Squish... Anahita May even need to make her into a fursona XD Now, if only I could get a Quill Squishable <3 And they need to make a pink-haired unicorn, so I can have my Yuki
Otherwise, I intend to finish Ni No Kuni tonight, as my last treat before the grind. May stop for gourmet pizza too...
Been reading Charles DeLint again... after copious amounts of GrimDark, it's lovely to get back to the Father of Urban Fantasy. I'm looking forward to writing in that genre again.

Hello everyone,
Just thought I'd drop a line to reassuring you all that I'm not dead in a ditch somewhere being nibbled by rats and homeless accountants. The house has been plaguing me with issues, work is nuts... But mostly, I've been writing pretty much none stop for the last month - and researching some pretty hideous stuff... Yay for internment camps :P But several thousand words later and many sleepless nights, the first drafts are done and out... plus the kickstarter has been funded WOOT! I don't general mix professional life with fuzzy life, so just rest assured it's very cool XD
Second round of drafts and edits will start next week, so I am going to take the weekend off from the nastiness and lose myself in the fun and whimsy of my video games. And buy copious amounts of sushi. Found a new sushi place... CRUNCHY ROLL heaven <3 I may even go see The Witch to treat myself... shush Star Wars people... I like horror!
And Happy GM's Day... the only day meant to celebrate the over-worked, much maligned Game Master XD Feel free to send pizza and game books my way
Anyway, I do hope you're all in fine form and that you'll forgive my absence and lack of fuzzy writing.

Reading: ECO: The Magic and the Music
Watching: Banshee
Playing: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch... Tidy, mun!
Eating: Little Debbie's chocolate cupcake
Drinking: Cold coffee
So, my next year's resolution is to stop procrastinating
Seriously, I back in fine form - mostly - and looking forward to the new year. Sitting here, listening to Richard Burton narrate War of the Worlds, grooving out to the 70's electric guitars (Damn, those martian cries still raise the hair on my arms O.O ), and editing a couple of short stories.
All in all, I'm pretty excited about 2016. I've just been hired on as a writer for an RPG company, so getting back to my designer roots. That'll keep me busy, I'm sure... but I'm also sending out more short stories, working on the novel from November, and collaborating with some pretty cool cats - well... wolves, zebras, unicorns The next installment of Curse should be coming by month's end, featuring some new art, I hope! It will also feature a couple of guest appearances, so keep your eyes open for that. The subsequent chapters should follow in shorter order, as the series makes a nice escape from my other 'normal' stuff.
I'm going to be trying more art, maybe even try my hand at music. The more creative people I have around me, the greater my inspiration and motivation are becoming. A welcome change after the hollow beginnings of last year... But honestly, I'd rather be crazy busy than pleasantly inert :)
So, what are your big plans for 2016? Any resolutions? Any dreams?

Posted 10 years agoHey guys,
I'm taking this quick opportunity to have net to tell everyone I'm okay... got hit by this massive winterstorm, but dodged the tornadoes and other nastiness. Unfortunately, I'm under six feet of snow in a place that only get six inches at the worst. So, no telling when services will return. As such, I'll be out of touch for a few days.
Love you all... miss you all.
Hope you're all well and not under a blanket of snow XD

Sorry Jedis... I chose The Shaman
Posted 10 years agoI still remember watching Star Wars IV: A New Hope on its opening day back in 1977. It pretty much set my life down the path of being a writer and geek. But, over time, the luster wore off... especially with the Prequels. Even now, I can't summon the interest in the new Star Wars movie... though I'm sure it's pretty darn good.
For me, I have been waiting, praying, and dreaming of a completely different movie, ever since I discovered its exquisite trailer. This is the story I wanted to experience, the world I wanted to see. And I was ~not~ disappointed.
At only fifteen minutes long, The Shaman is absolutely mind-blowing and heart-wrenchingly powerful.
So, turn away from the blasters and the Force for a moment... join me in the Netherworld... and the witness, The Shaman:

I'm going to be cooking pot roast and drink copious amounts of amaretto. At least, that's the plan... we'll see how it goes.
I'll be pretty much out of contact until after the holiday. Not only is it a holiday, but I've been hired on to write an RPG - so my free days will be spent doing that mostly. It'll be peppered with writing the next chapter of Curse, as well as a few other side projects. That may even include the sequel to Balloon Moon Rising since people keep asking me for it... the fact people still are interested in that story after... twenty years... well, I'm sorta blown away =)
I hope you all have a lovely holiday. Eat, drink, be merry... do naughty and nice things to one another.... and, generally, have a blessed time.
Thank you all for a lovely year... you are all my inspiration and I loves each and every one of you nutters <3

Well, thanks to life and other ugliness, I didn't reach my 50K word goal, but I did manage to get over half that. Eight new chapters, the beginnings of Curse of the Snowy Armadillo, and several pages in a short story. Not exactly what I was supposed to do, but hey... I never do what I'm supposed to. The benefit is that I'm now accustomed to cranking out 750 to 1000 words each night, even when I'm going crazed from work and other of life's glorious nasties.
The finger seems to be better. Don't think it's broken, which is good. Still, going to keep it in a splint for the next week or so, just in case.
Moving into a new office, so that'll keep me busy over the next few days. But I like being at the far end of the hall - away from the yattering of my peers. And now I have a bookshelf, so something to put things on. Hoping to turn the room into a mini-gallery of Quill-oriented art XD
Hope everyone is doing okay... will try to keep up with everything until my net is more regular. Time to get something more reliable, as I'll be doing more writing work (fingers crossed).

Apologies and reassurances
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone,
Sorry that I've been silent the last few days. An ice storm has deep sixed my internet - I'm writing this from a coffee shop. I will reply to everyone tomorrow, as ive got a ton o' notes and comments to respond to.
Also, took a spill, so my finger is nicely messed up - such lovely colors 😥. Don't think it's broken, so got off lucky. But otherwise, I'm okay and missing everyone.
Much love to you all and hope you had a far better holiday 😉

It's a bad time to be a turkey...

Playing: Fallout 3 GOTY - almost done... thank you, Faux, you ugly bastard
Eating: Big-ass pretzels
Drinking: White mocha
Well, it's that time of the year again... when turkeys realize those huge boobies are actually a detriment, people remember why they don't live at home anymore, and we trample random strangers in the name of commerce
Seriously though, I'm thankful for all you guys. This community has been a blessing for my inspiration and motivation. It's a much needed relief to know I'm not the only crazy one out there - and when you're a grumpy greymuzzle, that's a welcome thing. Thank you for your support and your kindnesses.
I'll be spending most of the next few days writing (gods, I need to catch up), cooking pot roast ('cause I've had it with turkeys), reading a profound amount of stuff (Faerie Skies, why you so AWESOME?!, and chillin' and killin' on my PS3. I'm probably going to avoid the Internets, soooo... if I don't reply fast, you'll know why Just know I love you and miss you.
So, enjoy your holiday... and don't knife people at Target... unless they steal the last of the cake donuts...mrmm...cake doooooonut.

So, here's a spot of advice... never... and I do mean NEVER... listen to the NoSleep Podcast before falling asleep. I think I would have figured it out in the name of the damned thing, but apparently wisdom went out the door last night Half-woke up just in time to hear some unholy ~thing~ muttering a foot away from my head. Serious props to the sound man... 'cause that scared the living $#%^ outta me. Didn't help that I'd just watched the free sampler of Ash vs Evil Dead - Hilarious!!!
Otherwise than some major nightmares - yay for box-knives - I did wake up inspired. So, bonus? Of course, that semi-sucks because now I want to write horror...rather than my NaNo project.
Do you guys get fits of inspiration... only to be in the middle of something else, so you can't take advantage of it?

Listening to: Writing Excuses
Reading: A Walk Among the Tombstones
Watching: Into the Badlands
Playing: Epic Mahjong
Eating: Lemon loaf
Drinking: Too much coffee
So, now at the middle-point, I’m way behind on NaNoWriMo (only 16,000wds), but I’m not going to stress it – as I have every other year. I’ve gotten into the rhythm of writing a minimum of 1000 words every night, and I’ll keep doing that from this point forward, well beyond November. That’s the true benefit of this NaNoWriMo; acquiring the ‘muscle memory’ of simply pounding the keys every evening rather than finding every excuse under the sun to do anything else. I’m actually looking forward to it now, rather than dreading the blank screen. And it has very little to do with the hermaphrodite nephilim my protagonist is diddling when she's not wadding through bodies and politics Well... okay... that might help a little *cough*
It was tough last night though - AMC presented its newest series, Into the Badlands. It's a Martial arts/Sci-fi show that's part Mad Max and Journey into the West... and, man, is it crunchy. It doesn't pull punches. I love the style and look... something you'd expect in a motion picture, frankly. This is the sort of stuff I write mainstream, so you know where I'll be every Sunday night XD
Speaking of awesome, Captain Quill is at it again... the first draft of Chapter Three: Exodus has been released. So, go check it out Really enjoying the world-building
LaurenRivers has done. Reminds me of the histories of 2300AD and Syndicate; gritty sci-fi with morally ambiguous characters.
BTW, the darling
is giving away free Snow Icons! They did my new one, and I love it.
Well, back to the grind... I hope you're all doing well.

Listening to: Speculate, Episode #146
Reading: Galveston: A Novel by Nic Pizzolatto
Watching: Building Great Sentences: Exploring the Writer's Craft
Playing: Fallout 3
Eating: Pork loin and basmati rice
Drinking: Cold coffee of indeterminate origins
A couple more thousand words down... tens of thousands to go. As they say, what's the best way to eat an elephant? One bite a time. I keep on doing it in 25 minute chunks at night - sometimes in the afternoon - and it's going pretty well. I doubt I'll make the 50K, but there's always hope. But I'm doing it! I'm pretty sure it'll be a pile of meh by the end of the process, but at the very least I can polish it into something legible. I'm keeping myself motivated by watching writing lessons, listening to author interviews and copious amounts of jazz. The only problem is I keep getting ideas for different projects... my Muse has ADD :P
I hope you're all doing well and keeping busy in good ways.

Reading: Worlds Numberless & Strange
Watching: Co-Optitude
Playing: TftB: Atlas Mugged
Eating: Mashed potatoes & peas
Drinking: Hazelnut coffee (as bitter as I am)
Daily Thought: Always be true to yourself...unless you're a Unicorn. Then always be a unicorn.
Four thousand words in to NaNoWriMo, so technically behind... but, at least, only 46K words more to go. Life keeps getting in the way, as it typically does. Still, I think I can, I think I can. Also, nervously waiting on the results of the Writer's of the Future and Third Eye Game contests results. Fingers crossed, but not going to hold my breath. The latter I'd love to 'win,' as it's been far too long since I wrote for a gaming company. Need to get back into the groove of it.
Downloaded a ridiculous amount of jazz music to my Macbook, so hopefully that will keep me inspired while I work. Just need to pick up the pace!

's Exodus Rising! Please go check it out... there's dinosaurs! Great writing and plenty of intrigue to be had Plus Quill as a spaceship captain... nuff' said.
As for me, only a couple days left before NaNoWriMo begins. I intend to finish it this year. No. Really! Hopefully, I'll be off my sinus meds by then, so I can start drinking heavily This is going to kill me, though... Fallout 4 comes out on the 10th. *sigh* Why you so cruel to me Bethesda?!
Then, in December, I'll be doing Chapter Two of Curse of the Snowy Armadillo, so be ready for that.

I've read The Blue Blazes, and it is seriously crunchy stuff... balls-out action, thrills, spills, and gobbos. Wendig's got an amazing talent for dialogue with some laugh-out-loud lines you won't forget. Can't suggest it enough.

Well, I haven't started building an Ark quite yet, but it's getting close. Ridiculous amount of rain the last two days... which has knocked out my internet. I doubt I'll have it back over the weekend, so my connection will be spotty at best. Trying to respond to people as we speak, but if I don't get back to you... just short on time
So, I doubt I'll be replying over the weekend. Hope you all have a lovely time.
