MOVING ACCOUNTS - THIS ONE WILL BE "DEAD"
Posted 14 years agoI don't change accounts often, so be comforted that I won't be hopping around all over the place. :) I have gone ahead and re-watched everyone I am currently watching. All art on this account will stay where it is, though I may move it to scraps in the future.
Please watch my new account!

Be on the look out over there, I may be offering up little contests in the future, with prizes because what contest is really complete without them?
See you over there!

looking for crash space at AC, floor is acceptable!
Posted 14 years agoI am basically looking to crash for one night on someone's floor. I can offer limited money, art slaving, home made food, and limited alcohol [have some wine I can bring.]
I'm local, can't afford to just out and out rent a room, but I'd really like to be able to see my friends for a little bit. I am quiet, respectful and won't take up much space [I'll have a pillow and blanket of my own, which will be stowed when not in use.]
Just looking for one night, to make traveling easier [I don't drive so it's a pain to get from where I live to downtown].
I know, I know, poor ass furfags...

incoming account change
Posted 14 years agoJust to warn folks, I will be switching accounts soon. Over to http://www.furaffinity.net/user/scriber with me! Hope to have some nice, new uploads and FINALLY a ref sheet for deerme [who is named Scriber, incidentally]
Why? I've been meaning to do this for a while. As much as I love Red Dwarf, the name was always a placeholder, it just took me way longer to find something else I liked. I nearly went with "morpheme" but I don't feel like having ignorant people associate it/me with a drug. Judging by how people manhandled the pronunciation of "epideme" I can only assume the same would go for "morpheme" ;P
I'll update again, while I actually doing it, and again before I abandon this account. I'll leave anything up that isn't going with me to the new account.

My palpad number is: 1850 1260 8199

these cuties need your help! [wombats, that is!]
Posted 14 years agoSo, the ever awesome
vombatiformes is offering adoptable wombat plushes for donating to a very worthy charity. You can find out more info here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/...../#cid:18312072
These animals could really use as much help as we can give them. Your money will be going directly to caring for the lovely creatures in their program... AND you can get yourself a little cute thing to remind you of the wombat you picked out to sponsor!
Any of my friends that cares about animal conservation, please consider reposting his journal, if you can't help [or do both, heck!] :)

ultimate furry character
Posted 14 years agoRight before blissfully drifting off to sleep my brain was firing away like it usually does... about stupid shit... like usual.
Anyway, this conversation took place:
Me: *suddenly starts laughing in the darkness*
Jayson: *I-want-to-be-sleeping-silence*
Me: *giggles excessively, probably slightly alarmingly* I have the ultimate furry character!
Jayson: ...
Me: An anthropomorphic dog cock. With a horse dick.
Jayson: ...wait, what?
Me: An anthropomorphic dog penis, who also has a penis, which is a horse cock.
Jayson: That's just silly. *more I-want-to-be-asleep silence*
and now we're here, everyone.
anthropomorphic canine phallus. with a horse cock.

mah babby
Posted 14 years agoWent to the vet to get a lump on Hedwig checked out, they want $700+ to remove it? We're researching other vets now. It's a given that it probably needs to come out - not sure how long he's had it, but its grown recently and isn't as "loose" in the skin as it was a couple months ago. Probably better to have it out now, than have it get larger and then be even more difficult to remove. Fingers crossed that we can find some place that seems good and will charge less.
I didn't like the place we went, they immediately tried to sell us a "care package" deal that would "help" with the costs... in of itself $300? I've always gone to private vets, never had this sort of pushy behavior previously.
Honestly for all I know $700~ isn't bad, but I'd rather find out...

arting on the DS
Posted 14 years agoDoes anybody have any tips for drawing and coloring on the DS? The resolution is throwing me off something awful. I don't know if I draw too big, or there's some method I am missing.
I have colors, rPaint and Art Academy, so if there's any specific tips to be had. If there's any other programs out there that are better/different I would also be interested.

Owlette page holders! $1.50!
Posted 14 years agoAffordable for the person with a lot of pages to mark, many friends who have a page to keep, or those who just likes collecting cute things.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5239039/
Two sided Owlette book marks, with various bright and bold colors and patterns and over 30 different owlette designs. Each one is cut and drawn individually then laminated for durability and longevity.
Your color choice hand braided tassel [on request basis are other fancier pre-made tassels which will cost you more, should you want a slightly classier Owlette] or "naked". The tassel hole does not pass through any paper and will not cause the item to come apart or acquire water damage.
Keep an eye out for further designs of other cute critters to grace the pages of your reference books, textbooks, for fun reading material and excellent for obsessively combing through of House of Leaves.
Willing to discuss custom designs, which should also be very affordable.

Whatever. Follow me if you want, I will try not to post things that are TOO lame, but it is Twitter and we can only expect so much.

ask any question meme thingy
Posted 15 years agoFew artists are man/woman enough to openly answer any and all questions thrown at them. Are you? Prove it. Copy/Paste this as a new journal entry and answer every question you get.
The rules are simple:
-You must answer every question you get no matter what it's about and you must do so honestly.
-There are no questions that can not be asked as long as they are within reason. They can be personal, about oc's, and every thing in between.
Think of it as a truth or dare of sorts, only without the dare option.

taking a couple badge commissions - not too pricey!
Posted 15 years agoHello everyone! Just putting a journal up to see if anybody could use a con badge! I am looking to take a maximum of three. I will try to get more examples up soon, but, for now, a "simple" badge will be $10+shipping, and a larger badge will run between $15 - $20+shipping, depending on level of character/idea detail and other variables.

Feel free to note me or comment here. I can do most species and am willing to work with reasonable deadlines.
This is not first come first serve, assuming I get more than enough responses. I will select the characters I feel most confident working with. :) Please feel free to pimp me, if you do feel so inclined, I could use the funds. :d

heat roll vs cold roll lamination questions
Posted 15 years agoI am googling and not coming up with anything that makes me feel confident in which would be best.
I am looking to get a laminator, which will be mostly be used to make con badges. What do badge makers usually use? Does the heat lamination effect markers, colored pencils or inks very much? Is cold-roll more prone to bubbles? Which is simply your preference?
Thanks ahead of time for any feed back.

help-me-get-my-bf-a-birthday-gift badge commission!
Posted 15 years agoI'm broke, blahblahblah. I am going to offer one badge in my toony style, $20, including shipping.
I do all sorts of critters, quads and people too! This will be full color, and NON-LAMINATED*. Any preliminary/warm up sketches will be included when it is mailed off.
We are about to move, so it is an unknown on how long it will take - nothing too excessive, I just want to warn that it is unlikely to take less than a week [though if I really like the character it could, NO PROMISES.]
*I am very likely acquiring a laminator at Christmas, so if you're uber patient you're welcome to wait til I get it and I will laminate the badge for you at that time.
Comment here, or note me. I don't bite! I'd love to create something that you can enjoy, and I can be proud of :3 [and also I can not be SUCH a bum and get my dearie a little something-something]

scanning art for online viewing
Posted 15 years agoIs there any trick to properly scanning, or editing it after - or is it all up to the ability of the scanner in the end?
I feel like a lot of my stuff ends up looking not very true-to-life, and I want to fix that if possible. I use photoshop CS4 for my editing. Not sure the make of the scanner, though.

a general call for critique
Posted 15 years agoOkay, I think I've reached a point with myself [I would say with my art... but it's really myself, my ego, my too-often-times easy-to-shake confidence] where I can just... take it. Filter out the nonsense when it comes, but listen to the genuine stuff with an open mind.
So... I would really like it if you feel the inclination as a watcher to say something if you see something. Yes! Just like the NYC subways. If you see something, say something! I don't care about your own artistic level - I have plenty of people who watch me of all sorts - you can see still things that are wrong.
Obviously I would prefer suggestions on how to fix whatever the issue is as opposed to a Morbo-like "ARMS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY GOODNIGHT", but even if you don't know how to suggest how to fix it, I will still appreciate being told if an expression is awkward or a pose is weird or whatever. AGAIN: I don't care about your skill level, or lack thereof. If I truly find it inapplicable I will just ignore it. But I won't berate you, and I won't get defensive.
Thanks for reading, and here's to hoping for improvements, great and small. (=

controversial meme
Posted 15 years ago[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Sure, whatever.
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
Uh, no.
[03] Abortion: for or against it?
For freedom of choice, whatever that choice is. It's not the place of anyone - male or female - to tell another person what to do with their body.
[04] Do you think a country would fail with a female president?
No, and I also believe that anybody who thinks it would for sheer sake of the candidate being female is sexist and should lose their right to have a say in the matter.
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
Okay, this is coming from somebody who has /actually lost/ a close friend to a very brutal murder: I don't know! I just don't. I semi-knew the people beforehand, I know what sort of lives they lived. Being in prison, while probably not pleasant for one's social life, is a STEP UP from how they lived. Similarly, death would be a release for them. Emotionally I would advocate torturing people to death in these situations, but morally I could not condone that. I still can't decide, even after all these years.
Just so you can have a vague idea, exactly, what I am up against emotionally in this case, and the sorts of people that did it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itta4v_xseg
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yes, yes I do.
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I am for it, I will also 'boldly' state that anybody who is against it is misguided and just asking for a situation where they are unhappy sexually. Obviously, if it is an asexual person who has discussed this with a partner and there will simply be -no- sex that a different ball game since they wouldn't be able to be unhappy with the quality of sexual intimacy in the first place.
[08] Do you believe in God?
Nope. I started disbelieving at a very young age, too. That feeling has only cemented itself over the years. There are times where I might wish that there was some higher being able to dole out punishment [see question 5] but wishful thinking does not make a believer out of me.
[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Do what you want with your churches, I don't care, but let me marry the man I love so we can properly share our lives.
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
"Wrong" is a strong word - I don't believe it is so, morally. They are trying to better their lives, and who doesn't want to do that? If they are contributing to society [and yes, doing those shitty jobs that they usually end up with is contributing] I think it's important to give them the opportunity to come in legally. I do not agree with non-citizins coming in to take advantage of our health care or other support system when they aren't paying in to help keep those things possible.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
Haaaaaah, no. In our current culture there is no way that a child of that age is going to properly care for a baby. Even if she's helped by family. I don't care. Take the baby away, put it in a home that wants it and can provide the proper monetary support and social and emotional situations.
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
Lowering it may present an issue. Raising it rarely is. I think if it were /already at/ that age we wouldn't know any better, and things would be fine. As it is, there are many countries where the drinking age is lower or simply non-existant - as far as I am aware, those countries do not have especially bad issues with alcohol abuse among minors. Minors in the US can, after all, find ways to get alcohol plenty of times.
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
I'll be honest. I do not feel up-to-date enough with political issues and the war to confidently state how I feel on this issue. I don't think it's okay for us to go sticking our heads in places it doesn't belong. I have to wonder why we weren't so up in arms about ending the genocides in Africa.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
No, I do not. I think that given the proper support and consistent checks on a person's mental state that, if it comes down to it and they want to die, they should have the freedom to choose so. I will not make judgement calls on what should make that a valid situation, as I have not lived as every person, but among them that seem like good reasons -to me-: Painful, incurable diseases and disorders, the later stages of other diseases or cancers where it is clear that there's no turning around, consistent untreatable mental health issues that cause the person and/or the people around them anguish.
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
In strict moderation, yes. I'm noticing a lot of similar situations on this meme with that answer - usually people who only had to be spanked a handful of times in a reasonable fashion. I am amongst those. I knew that I had really -fucked up- in these cases. It was never an immediate go-to for solving a situation, but instead a last resort when -clearly- I was not getting that my behavior was inappropriate.
[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
It's just a flag. So, yes.
[17] Who do you think would have made a better president? McCain or Obama?
Old farty white man with ideals that contradict mine, younger black man whose ideals are slightly less abrasive: Eh. I am not likely to ever a candidate that I can truly get behind. Having to choose, yes, Obama.
[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Not really.
Sure, whatever.
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
Uh, no.
[03] Abortion: for or against it?

Not really.
