New Camera and FurDU Plans
Posted 8 years agoI decided to bite the bullet and buy a new camera in time for Furry Down Under. My new camera is a Canon EOS 7D Mark II. I went with a Canon because I didn't want to buy new lenses and a new flash unit. It is such an upgrade over my old one and I hope to get some fuzzies in front of it at Ironfest later this month. So expect to see some photos from that. This will be great practice before the main event Furry Down Under next month.
I know a few furries now so I will have a great time at the DU. A wolf named Regis wants me to take his photo. He also wants me to BE Regis but I think I am too big to fit in his fursuit. I will definitely be down for photos. Other than that I hope to take many photos of the fursuiters there and upload them here. I think the best photos are those that are shared not kept locked away.
I have been writing new short stories in the meantime. My most popular story so far is The Wolves Howl Summons You. I never intended it to be so popular because it was based on a advertising slogan and just something I wrote on a whim. I have even wrote some more racy stories to express my sexuality.
Two people in my life that know me very well have commented that they thought I was asexual. This has kind of distressed me because I don't want to come off a prude. I don't want to be known as a cold fish because I'm not like that. I think if I write some erotica people won't think that about me. This might not be the right venue to talk about this but now that I'm out of the closet I have to work on being more open about myself. I have gotten too good at hiding my desires that people think that's the real me.

Ides of March
Posted 8 years agoIn the midst of uploading photos from Ides of March. It was a beautiful Autumn day at Bicentennial Park in Sydney. I am growing more confident talking to people at these fur meets. I made some friends at this one I feel. I took many photos and just enjoyed chatting with people too. The next one is planned for after FurDU and I am glad there is a regular meet in Sydney that is close enough for a day trip. I can go and come back in time to do my dad's medication.
I saw some furries that I hadn't seen before and reconnected with those that I know. I got to meet Normie Nomad for the first time. I got some photos of Flow Fox, Nox and the new red pander fursuiter known as Asha. I chatted with Lord Foxworth, Warbrin and Arti Husky. I even meet up with Tucker who was glad to see me. Kai was excited about my Fackbook posts about the Mardi Gras he must have thought that I was there. I only went to fair day this year so I missed out on it. I liked Diego's photos of Neox with the pups I must admit.
Anyway it was grand talking with furries and just chilling out. I went over to chat with Arti and I joined in on the dancing that he was doing with his music speaker. Trak was there he mentioned he didn't want to talk about work and didn't like his forced promotion. Other then that he settled in for some fun. He even joined in with a video some of the furs were filming. Arti mentioned he was getting a new fursuit made from Critter-scape I believe. So all the photos of his current one will be memories.
The next cool event will be FurDU. I am looking forward to going to the Gold Coast and having a party. A big thank you to all the furs who made a fun event in Bicentennial Park.

Zig Zag Brewery Photo Shoot
Posted 9 years agoOn Sunday the 12th of February I was invited to do a photo shoot at the Zig Zag Brewery. The photo shoot was to promote the upcoming Ironfest event coming up in April. Ironfest is an event for different cosplayers and steam punks to dress up and have a good time. Some of the local furries go to it as well. Lord Darius Foxworth, Stripes Tiger, Elliot the Dinosaur and Warbrin Folf are regulars to the event. The number of furries attending has grown over the years and now they have a headless lounge planned for this year.
Both Elliot and Lord Darius invited me to the photo shoot. They wanted a furry photographer because the other photographers often ignore the fursuiters. I was happy to help and I reckon I got some good shots. I ended up with three cameras Elliot's camera, Stripes Tiger's phone and my DSLR. I tried to take photos on each camera and it was fun to be part of the action. True to Elliot's warning the rest of the photographers and cosplayers disappeared and left us furries to ourselves. They even forgot to find us for lunch that was to be provided. The owner of Lithgow Valley Springs gave us each a bottle of their spring water that they make there. At least he didn't forget us.
Lord Darius was kind enough to give me a lift there and back so he picked me up from my house and we drove down to the location. We arrived early and we got some photos in before returning to meet up with Elliot and Stripes Tiger. A little while later Kevin Rusty arrived. The fursuiters suited up and we headed down to the oval near the brewery for the group photo. We headed back the suiters had a cool down break and we went into the brewery's buildings for more photos. That was the end of the photo shoot so we packed up and headed back home.
It was a fun day out and I enjoyed playing with high speed sync on my camera's flash. Using fill flash makes for better portraits especially when the subjects backlit. My next furry photographic adventure will be at the 11th of March fur meet at bicentennial park in Sydney.

Papafurazzi Nerd Talk
Posted 9 years agoMy final photo count is 1000 convention photos. I have published quite a few so far. The reception of my ConFurgence photos has been great with many favourites and positive comments. I have a much greater pool of usable photos to pick from than I did from FurDU. Only a small percentage of photos are completely unusable.
I have learnt some lessons from the convention insofar as camera gear I should take. The must have item is the Gary Fong Lightsphere this peace of gear has made for wonderful results with most of my photos being indoors even ones from the fursuit walk. I lucked out that the venue had white ceilings and even the marquee had a white cloth that make the bounce flash work so well.
My flash gun worked a treat it only let me down when it overheated I think after taking many photos at the fursuit walk. I need to work out how to make it beep while it is recharging between flashers so that I don't waste a shot between cycles. It got heavy after a while being a big heavy beast of a thing. It got really uncomfortable after shooting the fursuit walk. In general it was fine and I could remove it and put it in the holster that fit on my backpack strap.
As far as lenses most of the time I used my 18 - 55mm kit lens. The second most used lens was the 28mm prime I didn't take advantage of it's maximum aperture with the lowest setting I went to was f/5.6. I took out my 50mm prime at the Sunday dance party only and even then I relied of my flash and not my aperture to get good exposures. The least used lens was my 55 - 200mm zoom that only came out for the fursuit games.
I took my best photos inside with my camera on manual mode ISO 800 aperture f/8 or f/5.6 at 1/200th sec shutter speed. I set my flash to TTL mode only. I took constantly good photos with these settings. Photos that were under exposed could be saved in Lightroom easily. I only stuck problems when I took photos too quickly that the flash wasn't ready. Some of the dance party shots got overexposed it may have been my wider aperture settings on the 50mm prime lens.
My worst photos came when I used natural light outside. I went outside for a photo shoot with Dasprid and forgot to take my camera off ISO 800 the shots from this looked bad because the sky was burnt out to grey. Some of the shots of Arti Husky and Freon that I took outside got ruined by blown highlights under the shade of the courtyard trees. Some of the shots of the ByCat4Cats suiters needed a fill light because they were backlit when the fursuiters faced toward the hotel. I also forgot the set the ISO lower for the first few photos in the ByCat4Cats group shot. Lastly some of the photos in the marquee after the fursuit walk had a too slow shutter speed because I was shooting in aperture priority mode and not watching my shutter speed.
Some of my kit that I didn't use at all was my tripod and monopole they stayed in my suitcase all convention. Next time I could consider not taking them. I could have left my second camera battery behind too I needed a second set of flash batteries instead. I missed out on getting shots of some of the suiters at the Sunday dance because my flash ran out of power.
On another note I am getting some positive feedback on my fursona Silver Sheep.
silvixen said "By far the best looking sheep character I've come across." ok cool but then I clicked on her profile and found out she is a furry artist with nearly 5000 followers on FA! I must be doing something right for a artist to say that about my character. It's like if
theotherblitzgshep asked me to do a photo shoot at MFF or something. I also got a shock when
toxi completed my commission before I have finished uploading my convention photos. Zoom!

Posted 9 years agoThe second convention for me was such a great time. What made the convention for me was the great company of
artihusky,
diegowuf and
trakdakelpie. They made me feel like I have great friends in the fandom. On the Thursday before the convention they invited me up to their room that was on my floor. Inside I found Trak's new fursuit Freon a light blue fox. Diego let me try on his head that was fun and the first ever time I have tried out a fursuit. He took my picture with my camera while I had Diego’s head on. I tried to convince Trak to let Diego wear his fursuit to fool the people at the con. Diego tried on Trak's suit it fit and he reckons it felt cooler than his fursuit. In the end Trak wasn't having a bar of it. I understand why a fursuit is kind of like your baby and it can be very personal thing to a fur.
The next day the boys invited me out to lunch at the pub next door for lunch where we talked about various furry related things. I got some shots outside in the courtyard of them in suit. The fun continued on day two Saturday I got to see the secret headless lounge with powerful fans and the mood lights. It was a treat to see behind the scenes.
On the last day of the convention I went with Trak to the bycats4cats photo shoot. I was a bit concerned if I was allowed to take photos there but I decided to take some and no one stopped me. I got a little drunk and joined Arti Husky, Trak and Diego and cut loose on the dance floor and took heaps of photos.
I had a blast thanks to them for wanting to hangout with me and share some great convention moments. I wouldn't of had as a good time as I did without them. Now on to the convention in general.
On the Thursday night I saw a fursuiter that later introduced himself as
dasprid. Later that night he was leaning on a chair and looking a little heat stressed. Some furs went over to check on him and he didn't even break character. This German furry was amazing he took the art of fursuiting very seriously. Awesome Rusty Rex chatted with me for a bit about photography. I must admit I was acting a little awkward in my conversation because I was feeling a little nervous. I tested out my camera gear and was impressed with my flash and how my photos looked.
The first day of the actual convention was good. I went to the dealers den and bought some contact caffeinated soap. More importantly I commissioned
toxi to create some art for me. I attended the guest of honour panel with the Russian furry artist. For the most part I just chilled out and took photos of fursuiters in the lobby. That night I went to the dance. I love the dances and seeing fursuiters dancing brings me joy. I had glow sticks and Diego gave me one of Arti's spare ones. The DJ for the second set was
noshyena who I knew from FurDU. I danced the night away.
On Saturday the second day of the convention I went back to the dealers den and this time commissioned
muttasaur for some art. I went to the fursuit makers panel and the photo furs panel. I chilled out in the lobby and enjoyed the experience. Until Dasprid took me outside for a photo shoot. The thing was he never talked and just pantomimed the whole time.I have to get some photos out to him. Dasprid really made a magical experience for me.
The lobby is a great place to watch for cool looking fursuits like a cute deer one I have never seen before. If I was a more confident man I would of asked him for snuggles. I just took some photos of his beautiful fursuit. I should of asked him for a hug though.
The last day of the convention was where I took the most photos. The weather had cooled down and with the bycats4cats photo shoot plus the fursuit walk going on ment that fursuiters where out in force. I even took photos at the dance party until my flash ran out of battery power. I took many photos and will have to go through them when I get back home.
The convention was excellent and it really helps that I have some friends in the fandom. It makes for unique experiences. It was a great convention and I am looking forward to the next furry event.

DecemFUR
Posted 9 years agoDecemFUR was a fun time. The barbecue was manned by
fulton who cooked up the snags. Some fursuiters braved the heat and furred up.
friendoflow said he liked my photo of him that I took at FurJAM. So I took some more photos of him climbing the rope climbing frame.
Kai was there and we talked about camera gear and other furry photographers. Furries were recoding videos and taking photos of the furry adventures. Diego gave me his opinion on Dutch angel dragons.
Foxdale looking adorable in his fursuit. He had on a Hawaiian shirt on and he picked up a rainbow umbrella too. I took some shots of him as well. I am glad Foxdale suited up because I didn't get photos of him from FurJAM. Flow fox had a good time and he said he was going dancing afterwards.
I had a chat with Warbrin folf and Lord Darius Foxworth before I checked into my hotel. Warbrin was telling me about how he surprised his family by fursuiting. Lord Foxworth was talking about his fursuit experience at Ironfest. Trak told me about how he had a new fursuit in the works and he wants to be a secret fursuiter with the new suit. I was glad to talk with them.
Unfortunately Diego, Trak, Arti and Flow had other plans for the night and couldn't make it to the after party. I wanted to chat about furry related topics with them. Next time I will have to talk with them more.
fulton who cooked up the snags.

Furries on Ice
Posted 9 years agoThe furries on Ice meet was a grand time for me. It was just a small meet up but it was so much fun the see fursuiters braving the danger and ice skating. They were more brave then me because I didn't go on the ice myself. I took more photos then I did at FurJAM despite the challenge of capturing movement at high speed with low light levels. I will be posting more over the next few days.
diegowuf was really good at skating. He went backwards and did crazy turns. He went so fast that he was a white blur on the ice rink. Many of the other furs skated they enjoyed the ice. It was a fine setting for taking photos because you don't usually see fursuiters skating. There was a couple of tumbles but no one was put in hospital.
It was nice to have a smaller size meet and meet some furries. Warbrin,
artihusky,
trakdakelpie and Stripes Tiger were there among others. I am not a social butterfly but I was made to feel welcome. Diego asked me to take a photo of Arti and himself as well I am glad to help out. I must of confused him when I didn't answer to Eric. Eric-Martin is just my FA username not my fursona.
We went to Penrith Panthers for dinner but unfortunately I couldn't stay long because I needed to get home to look after my dad's medication. Stripes Tiger was kind enough to give me a lift back to Katoomba in his bus. My only regret was I didn't say goodbye to Arti and Diego at the Ice rink because I thought they where going over to Panthers straight after. I hope they didn't think I was being rude.

A New Chapter for Zakhargrad Unit 582
Posted 9 years agoI just completed chapter two for the story I am working on. | Zakhargrad Unit 582: Chapter 2 |
I am looking forward to take more photos soon hopefully at a fur meet in December. I love taking photos at fur meets and conventions. I am sure fursuiters love to see themselves in suit. I am glad to make it happen.
It is good to see a new furry convention for Australia called Harbour City Furcon. It is organised by the same people who do the Canberra one so it should be good. I see great photos on Twitter come out from that event. Sydney needs a furry convention I think its too expensive to have one before so I hope it turns out well.
The fur meet called FurJAM was a great event so Sydney can make for fun times. My next full convention is Confurgence in Melbourne in January that will be tops. Not much longer to wait now.
I am curious to see how my writing goes down. I still think I'm a better photographer than writer.

Zakhargrad Unit 582
Posted 9 years agoI was encouraged by
techcoyote529 to write a new story. I was touched that someone liked my novice writing. The new story Zakhargrad Unit 582 it is about a ram named Yakov and his adventures in a soviet inspired state of Iska. I put more of a plot into this story trying to craft a world. This is new to me so don't expect a masterpiece out of me.
I just have to keep it fun and I will be motivated to write more. There are many ways to express yourself in this fandom. It is good to have an creative outlet for self expression.

New Writing for Foxtober
Posted 9 years agoI felt inspired to write a new story it's a continuation of my first two stories that I wrote just before FurDU. Be warned it's gay furry erotica so if you're not into that stuff stay away. It's called A Fox's Pet so check it out. I am not a writer so if it's littered with mistakes that's why. It is hard to find a proof reader for gay furry erotica because it's so out there.
In other news I am looking forward to the DecemFUR event coming up. I will take some more photos there if the fursuiters brave the heat of an Australian summer.

FurJAM was a Blast
Posted 9 years agoToday was the FurJAM barbecue and it was a fantastic day. It was a lovely spring day not too hot for the fursuiters. I saw some of the furries from FurDU including
friendoflow ,
fabien-lhancat ,
muttasaur and
trakdakelpie among others.
I took 301 photos from the event so I have heaps of photos to go through. I recognised many of the other photographers there from the Lupe suit shoot at FurDU. I will have to introduce myself to some of them.
It was such fun capturing the fursuiting antics on camera. I was a bit shy as I usually am but Flow fox came over and gave me a hug. Flow fox is such a good fursuiter he acts so cute and does some awesome poses for photos not to mention his dance moves.
A highlight for me is when
diegowuf came over to say hi and he even introduced me to his partner
artihusky. I must admit I wasn't much of a conversationalist but I was made to feel so welcome. I will eventually open up more it takes time with me. I didn't muster up the courage to say hi to Muttasaur but I did take some good photos of her suit.
Arti is such a dance fiend he had a red wireless speaker box hanging from his backpack that he was piping music through. The fursuiters where bouncing around and one furry in a Made Fur You fox fursuit climbed a tree. You know you're a furry when you can guess a fursuit's maker just by looking at the style of the suit.
All in all I had a great time. I will be editing and uploading photos to my FA page and some select photos on Twitter.

FurJAM just days away
Posted 9 years agoI went into work today to fix my leave for the FurJAM barbeque. The payroll system got it wrong as per usual. I was lucky I had a colleague cover me for Saturday. I am going to have a fun time.
I hope to get some photos and meet some furs. It was good going to FurDU and I hope this meet is just as fun.

My Furry Plans for September
Posted 9 years agoI am getting hyped up for the FurJAM BBQ on the 17th of September. I am looking forward to meeting new furs and taking some photos. I did a recon mission down the Cahill park to scout out the location of the event. I loved taking photos at FurDU and I hope to take more at this event.
I posted some of my FurDU photos to Twitter and got some positive feedback. I am new to Twitter so I don't know what to post of if I should post comments on people's tweets. I must of made a faux pas on this one furry because they blocked me. I looking back on what I said I cannot work out why. This annoys me because I don't want to hurt other people's feelings. I am a bit sensitive to this stuff because I am a shy person.
I hope I can do better next time. I always try to be polite to people because you never know what they are going through in life.
On a positive note my FurDU photos have gone down well both on FA and Twitter. It makes me part of the furry fandom and not just a watcher. Hopefully I can make some good impressions too.
One last thing I made my first furry art commission with a furry artist that I will keep secret until it's complete. A surprise to look forward to.

Furry Down Under 2016
Posted 9 years agoI had high hopes for FurDU and it delivered. I went up to the Gold Coast on the 26th of May the day before the convention. When I arrived at the Mantra on View there where fursuiters hanging out in the lobby fooling around. I checked into my room after the receptionist sent me to the wrong room. I went down to take some photos of the fursuiters in the lobby and I got a few shots. I went out for dinner and went back to my room to sleep until the next day.
I awoke on the 27th of May and went down to have some breakfast at the hotel's restaurant because I was with the convention I saved five dollars off the cost of breakfast. I went and got a coffee at Starbucks and came back to the hotel in time for the registration. The registration line took half an hour and by 10:30 AM I had my con badge. I stood around the chill out area and took some more photos of the fursuiters arriving for the first photo shoot. I went to the "My First Con" panel and I started to feel less nervous. I went out and hung out for a bit more and then went to the end of Pepper Coyote's panel. I purchased three of Pepper Coyote's CDs because you got a certified art badge when you got all three. I retired for dinner and returned for the opening words. After the opening words I stayed for Pepper Coyote's first Australian performance. Pepper's music was grand and I loved it.
I had purchased some Red Knot Shiraz wine and Kahlua on the dinner break and drunk most of the wine to help me loosen up for the first dance. I went to the dance that had a Blue Dragon as the DJ followed by
noshyena. I had a great time and danced the night away. I love seeing the fursuiters dancing and I wanted to dance with a certain fursuiter but I was too shy. I got back to my hotel room and checked the FurDU Facebook and spotted the post for the Lupe fursuiters Photo shoot planned for 10 AM 28th of May. I retired to sleep but I could only sleep for two hours.
I awoke on the 28th of May and had breakfast at the hotel and went down to the lobby to wait for the Lupe suiters to turn up. While I waited some of the furry photographers turned up as well and we talked together. The Lupe suiters started to filter down from their rooms and us photographers pounced like foxes into action. The Lupe suiters formed up and we headed down to Surfers Paradise Beach. On the way me and the other photographers took heaps of photos of the Lupe suiters. We arrived at the beach and had a beautiful photo shoot with one of the photographers giving directions to the fursuiters. This was my highlight of the convention because at this photo shoot you could just rock up with your camera and snap away.
I returned to the convention and went to the photographers panel. I was disappointed by the panel because the person running it could not get his camera to work with the projector. The projector was out of focus and the person running the panel said he specialized in candid photos but only showed us posed shots. He was too unprepared for his panel because he didn't even have his photos from the first day of the convention to show us. I understand if it's you first panel but if it's about photography make sure your visual aids and you camera work right before you run the thing.
I then hung out in the chill out area and took a couple more photos. I went out for dinner and returned to the tail end of furs against humanity. I attended Pepper's second performance where he was chucking cans of beer around in between songs. He then made a hotel worker leave when he sung his song about horse dildos. I loved it he is so tall even more so in fursuit. I preloaded on grog and went to the second dance and danced with my gay pride band on my wrist. I love that I could be out of the closet at the fur con. I was encouraged by seeing openly gay furs slow dancing and cross-dressing together. I saw a fursuiter being lead around on a lead by a another fur. I wish I had a lover like that. I danced with a wolf suiter and another furry for part of the night. At 2 AM we had to leave and the poor suiter collapsed on a chair after the dance. On the way back up to my room someone in the lift said he had watched me dance and that I was a good dancer. That was a ego boost.
On the last day of FurDU the 29th of May I attended the fursuit games and videoed part of them. I enjoyed the fursuit games but I was still a bit tired from dancing last night so I was sitting on the sidelines for most of the games. The fursuit twister was a tie with two suiters evenly matched. I went to the book panel and then the fursuit panel both were good and I learned about a fursuit maker I didn't know about before.
After dinner I returned to the convention and videoed the fursuit dance comp. At the fursuit dance comp there was Muttasaur
muttasaur and Flow Fox
friendoflow as well as others I liked the dancer furs. It takes a lot of guts to put on a performance in-front of a crowd.
I went to the closing words and then the charity auction. I was determined to bid on something at the auction. When a won a bid I jumped up and decked a furry artist sitting on the ground (The chair was wet with sweat from the dance comp fursuiters.) with my GoPro on it's tripod. A true derp moment in my book. I won the bid on a box fox and a umbrella. The rest of the auction went well but we didn't raise more money then last year's one.
After the auction I returned to my hotel room to finish my drinks before the dead dog dance. I took my GoPro to the dance this time and got some footage of the dancers and myself dancing like a fool. The box fox came off my belt loop and a fur found it and handed it back to me. We where kicked out by the hotel at 12 AM. I went back to my room and got a case of the feels and PCD. I started crying because the convention was over until next year.
It was my first furry convention and I had the time of my life. I am currently planning to go to ConFurgence in January because I need more furry conventions in my life.

I am back from FurDU and my Gold Coast trip
Posted 9 years agoI got back today from my Gold Coast trip and first furry convention FurDU. I am editing and uploading photos slowly. I have done the first fourteen photos from the convention more are to follow. I took around 700 photos at the FurDU so it will take me a while to sort them out. I am still learning with the camera. I am getting better and I got some better shots with it. I will do a write up of the convention soon I am too tired from traveling all day.
Furry Down Under Hype
Posted 9 years agoOn Thursday i'm off to my first furry convention FurDU. I made use of my hype to write a second gay erotic story. Surprisingly someone liked it so much they followed my FA account wow. Not bad for my second ever story.
I think I will come out of the closet at FurDU. I am not out because I don't want to deal with the drama from my straight friends and colleagues finding out. Straight people don't have to deal with the stigma of being gay. I don't want my workplace to know because it is none of their business. I don't want to be fake to other furs about my sexuality so if someone asks me I will be honest about it.
I am glad to get some of my thoughts off my chest.

Suddenly Inspired
Posted 9 years agoI just had a go at writing a short story and had the guts to post it on Fur Affinity. It's called Red Forest and it's a gay mind-control themed story. Be gentle I did not even finish year 12 of high school and here I am writing gay erotica. I don't know but I felt inspired to write something of all things. Don't expect novels out of me though.
Off to FurDU on the 26th of May I have been looking forward to it all year. I hope to meet some new people. I will share at least some of the many photos I will take on Fur Affinity when I get back.

Going down to furry down under in 2016
Posted 9 years agoThis year I'm going to my first furry convention. I have never been on a airplane before. I've never been in a hotel before. So it's very exciting for me the reason I don't travel often is because I have to look after my poor dad. My dad has diabetes and schizophrenia that make it hard for me to go on trips but this year I thought I gotta do something in my life for myself.
To that end, I arranged respite care for my dad. I wanted to go to furry down under for awhile. I am hoping to make some new friends, furry friends that is at the convention. I want to check out all the cool fursuiters and the furry dancers and the parties hopefully. I want to check out the dealers den maybe get some furry merchandise. Who knows I might even come out of the closet as gay. Knowing me probably not though. I'm a very private person as far as my personal life is concerned but it would be nice to meet some like minded people. This fandom seems to have very open minded individuals in it.
At the time of writing I don't have any Watchers on my page so it's a bit of a case of me "screaming at the TV" so to speak. I might be good just to let my thoughts out even if no one reads it.
