High res files [Please read if you've commissioned me!]
Posted 9 years agoI share my high res files on Patreon, except for commission files (unless it involves my characters or I'm specifically given permission). I do it like this because I figure people would like to keep them to themselves, but of the few people I've remembered to ask, no one has seemed to mind so far?
I know a few other artists who share their high res commission files too. How do ya'll feel about it? Is it not a big deal? If it's about 50/50, should I add an option on my form asking if it's cool to share 'em or not?
Let me know! Especially if you've commissioned me before-- if no one seems to mind, I'm gonna dump 'em all there! o/

I've been getting bots on Patreon for awhile...
Posted 10 years agoEvery time I posted, I'd get a new one the next day-- I thought it was how the site sending them worked. It stopped this month, so I figured it was finally over and it's helped my mood.
I got one today. It's funny; every single time I advertise here, I get a bot. I stopped getting them while I stopped posting on FA as often so this can't be a coincidence. I wasn't on that site UNTIL I mentioned having a Patreon here even.
So whoever's doing it can you fucking stop lol???
I'm not even making triple digits. Save for WIPs (which went ignored before), I don't do exclusives. Everything goes up on tumblr. I've been trying to keep the stress of this to myself but I'm tired. I'm just trying to live on my art here. Distribution is inevitable but not making the proposed amount I'm supposed to make, small as it already is, is fucking shitty. I couldn't even tell the bots apart before so I'd have to wait to be let down at the start of the month. awesome

Computer problems, likely need a new laptop
Posted 10 years agoI'm gonna have to type quick since I don't really know how much time I have before my computer shuts off again, but I've been having a lot of issues with it since last night. I've tried a lot of things, and it doesn't seem much better; I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be feeling any kinda vibrations hahah, something is working REALLY HARD in there right now.
Please please follow me at twitter.com/EriPuppy for details; making multiple posts on my cellphone is really difficult and I will be keeping all updates there. Posted 10 years agoI got an invite the other day o: I don't know if someone invited me, or if they just...got my e-mail from somewhere? So, do any of you use the site? Is it worth looking into? I feel like I already use a ton of sites as is, hahah. I neglect other places a lot, and made a Weasyl but ended up never using it, so...
Also, I might be opening commissions back up soon. My laptop has been preeetty crappy lately, no viruses or anything, but I got it used so it's probably just getting very old. Might be bringing back the good ol' sweater sale! :9

Closing commissions
Posted 10 years agoI really need a break. I did a lot this month (not that it shows probably, since there's a lot of comm stuff I can't post), and I had some pretty good momentum. However, exactly the issue I was worried I'd come across with my new comm payment policy actually happened, and hahah I'm pretty goddamn bummed about it. I haven't been able to focus on drawing out of concern that it'll happen again, so I think it'd be for the best if I just took an extended break from comms.
I might be doing some donation drives, YCHs or something in the future to continue making ends meet, but otherwise I'm probably just gonna focus on Patreon. I might have to change my policies yet again, or maybe I'll send quicker, messier WIPs from now on, I dunno. I'm pretty set on no longer taking payment upfront and I thought my system would help me avoid complications, but I suppose there's gonna have to be more to it. Whenever I open, I'm also very likely to raise my prices again by probably a lot. Everything's gonna go through a major overhaul.

Posted 10 years agoMy mom was able to buy herself another used car and is selling me hers for only a thousand bucks B) I was able to help her afford it by offering to trade my car in, which was convenient for me anyway since I had no idea how I'd be getting rid of it.
She's had her car longer than I've had mine, not to mention it was the car I learned to drive in, so it's great that I can have it. Significantly less trouble and lower mileage, and a lot heavier and safer altogether to boot. Now I won't have to take a loan out and she only wants $100/month, so I'm good to go again \o/ I will still be doing a lot of work since now I have a chance to pay off the remaining $500 of my past due car repair bills, plus all the costs that will come with switching vehicles, etc etc. Maybe now I can save up for a more comfortable workstation wow

Posted 10 years agoHoo okay, struts went out on my car this time. Turns out everything's too rusted to even reliably hold new parts; I'd have to replace a lot of other stuff and eugh it's a mess. Basically I have no choice but to get a new car but couldn't find anything good under 3k, so unless I can miraculously rack up $3-4k I'm likely gonna have to pull a loan and that's gonna suck.
So! Commissions are as perma-open as ever. Prices have gone up across the board, but not by terribly much imo. I'm going to try to do more sketch streams too. I've also started using Patreon (more info here). I'm currently using it for personal projects, though I'd like to expand on that once I can gauge everyone's interests! I wanna do more pokephilia stuff though I'm not sure if stuff like that is allowed??
Anyway, my work schedule will stay the same-- Mon-Thurs for comms, Fri-Sun for personal projects. In case I bite off more than I can chew, no one will be charged on Patreon or via commissions until I've gotten some work started. Learning from last year, I think that will work out a lot better for me altogether from now on!

Commission payment changes for 2015
Posted 10 years agoI've been very slow with owed work for awhile and it's been really stressful for me; I want to try and make some changes. Drawing itself is usually the hardest part for me, so I've been thinking about taking payment for commissions differently: Instead of taking payment up-front, I'd like to start waiting until after I've done the sketch. This has worked out smoothly with stream commissions, so I'd like to try it with regular comms. I feel that if I don't accept payment until after sketching, I won't keep people waiting as long after they pay. I'm hoping this works out better!
I only started taking payment up-front to begin with because I got scammed a good handful of times back in the day. Having learned from that, I'm planing on taking strict measures to prevent dealing with it again--
>I will still take forms as usual. If I'm interested in taking on your commission, I'll add you to a waiting list.
>Once I have your sketch done, I will send you a bill and a lo-res preview of the sketch. Upon receiving payment, I will send you the full res sketch and proceed as usual from there.
>Any effort to receive the full sketch before paying will end in me cancelling your commission and perhaps even blacklisting you. This very blatantly breaks the terms that you'll have agreed to by submitting a form.
>If you're no longer interested in a commission, please let me know so that I can remove you from the list before starting any work!
>All that being said, please be aware that if a commission is cancelled after I've drawn it, it may be reused as a YCH or something to make up for lost time.

To those who filled out forms + potential refunds
Posted 11 years agoA few people filled out forms right after my computer had problems; I'm not sure if it was coincidence or if it was an effort to help me cover costs, but I want to apologize for having taken this long to get back to anyone. I got them and I'm willing to take them on, but I've kind of got a lot on my plate at the moment. I've been super stressed alongside a few small bouts of depression so yeah... Other than the computer stuff, there's been family junk going on but things are getting better; I'm sure it'll pass. I also am becoming more and more convinced every year that I might be seasonal affective so boy is this a good time to maybe look into medical insurance again
Anyway, I should be getting my computer back this week and although I'm very capable of drawing on Eris' computer, I think just having it and accepting everything will get me back in gear. However I'm so out of practice with painting that I've been thinking about refunding some of the hoodie comms, especially since it's been this long; I may be contacting some people soon. If you'd rather work something else out (some other style comms/sketches to make up the difference or something), then I'm open to that as well.
And if you're tired of waiting and would like a refund, that's fine too. Just note me or whatever.

Posted 11 years agoThose of you who follow me on Twitter already know that as of Tuesday, I found out that none of my files could be saved. I've been trying to get over it but I've been real depressed tbh. I feel really dumb for not backing up more of my stuff, I've completely lost projects I was working on, a whole bunch of refs and friends' art that I've been saving over the years. I've lost important documents, any art/sketches I never posted are entirely lost, and probably all my bookmarks and all kinds of stuff too. Stuff I probably won't even think about until I'll probably try and go access it just to go 'oh right hahah'
ugh. Anyway, they were able to replace the hard drive for me at least, so I'll have my own computer back soon and I'll just have to start from scratch :/ I've lost a lot of personal projects and gifts I was working on but luckily, I've only lost 2 commission WIPs that shouldn't be terribly hard to redo. That being said, sorry I've been so behind on comms, I just really honestly haven't felt in the mood to work on stuff, but I'll try and be less of a baby about it soon.
I should get my computer back next week. I'll have to dedicate this weekend to getting back in the swing of things and whatnot. I'm sure I'll adjust and move on once I have it back and all but euuuugughhghhhhhh
At least I've had a whoooole lot of bad memories I couldn't bring myself to delete on my own forcibly taken from me though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And my computer should be faster without so much stuff which should make streaming easier maybe?? So there's something. Additional good news I forgot to mention: whatever was wrong with my car, they were entirely at fault for; they gave me faulty fuel pumps. So I didn't get charged anything in the end! \o/

Anyway, they were able to replace the hard drive for me at least, so I'll have my own computer back soon and I'll just have to start from scratch :/ I've lost a lot of personal projects and gifts I was working on but luckily, I've only lost 2 commission WIPs that shouldn't be terribly hard to redo. That being said, sorry I've been so behind on comms, I just really honestly haven't felt in the mood to work on stuff, but I'll try and be less of a baby about it soon.
I should get my computer back next week. I'll have to dedicate this weekend to getting back in the swing of things and whatnot. I'm sure I'll adjust and move on once I have it back and all but euuuugughhghhhhhh
At least I've had a whoooole lot of bad memories I couldn't bring myself to delete on my own forcibly taken from me though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And my computer should be faster without so much stuff which should make streaming easier maybe?? So there's something. Additional good news I forgot to mention: whatever was wrong with my car, they were entirely at fault for; they gave me faulty fuel pumps. So I didn't get charged anything in the end! \o/

Posted 11 years agoThis morning, it blue screened while I wasn't even at it, kind of out of nowhere... When I tried turning it on, it said something or another about there being 'no bootable device' and I haven't been able to get it past the start-up screen since. :/
sonne and her husband jackermine have offered to have a look at it for me, so here's hoping they can fix it. He says it sounds like my hard drive fried so... c': In the meantime sonne will be letting me borrow her old tablet pc but I can't say for sure whether or not I'm planning on working on commissions on unfamiliar devices... I've already been guided through taking the hard drive out and back in, and I don't have a Windows 7 disk or anything like that so yeah.
That being said, commissions will be delayed again. This month is REALLY tearing me a new one. I know ya'll are real tired of hearing me say it but PLEASE keep up on my twitter for these updates. Eris is letting me use his computer in the meantime, but I'm going to be using my phone for the most part and I won't feel like updating every single site I use about these things. Might be doing some traditional comms or sketch streams or something until this all gets worked out; I'm not sure if I'll be able to just slap my intuos driver on Eris' computer or what; he uses a different tablet than I do. If they're able to fix my computer I'd like to compensate them in some way, and if not, I'm going to have to get a new one, so... Either way, I guess I'm going to be scraping for money yet again.

Even more car problems. Need advice/feedback
Posted 11 years agoMm so my car's check engine lights have been on for a few weeks now, and apparently whatever it is isn't a huge deal, but... My back brakes got so bad that they needed all kinds of repair and now I owe them $550 more than I already do, and I'm pretty pissed because I've been trying to mention my noisy brakes for awhile and they've always brushed it off with 'oh it's just the rain/change of weather' and now it's this bad.

I've been very very busy on really big art projects for Roundscape-Adorevia and that's taken up most of my time, alongside the art blocks I keep getting in and out of. I can't really take on a ton more comms because I already owe so many, so I'm trying to figure out a more manageable way to raise funds until I catch up. That being said, I should be posting more stuff soon, now that I'm done with that last project.
But yeah, should I do an auction? Probably YCH or something to that effect? Should I try adoptables, or be more serious about making art packs or something...? If I do an art pack it'll probably involve Ririn performing some kind of TF thing on probably a random victim. Or would it be better to auction something like that? Your character being Ririn's lab rat, Idk
I've also considered trying Patreon but I hear they take some of the money you earn and that it's easier to just set this thing up with PP but I'd have no idea how to actually organize that either so ??? ??????

Posted 11 years agoWhoa, the year is really flying past, huh? It's on a weekday again, so Eris will be at work and I'll probably just play games all day unless my mom visits or vice-versa! 24 is a cool number so I'm not dreading getting old this year B)
