Crohn's Disease and Art
Posted 6 years agoHey all, I know I haven't been the most active lately, I figured it was time for me to write a little update here for you so you guys know what's going on! I've posted briefly about what's been going on on other platforms so some of you may already know this but I was diagnosed with IBD in January, I have Crohn's Disease. It is a chronic inflammatory disease that effects the digestive tract. You can read more about specifics here https://www.crohnsandcolitis.com/crohns.
I started experiencing symptoms in early December of last year, I thought I had the flu, but it never got better. I lost a decent amount of weight while the doctors were trying to figure out what might be the cause of my symptoms, eventually I was able to get in with a GI specialist and she took action right away to get me in to have a colonoscopy done. Diagnosis followed shortly after that. I am currently on steroid medication to suppress my overly zealous immune system so that it isn't attacking itself, it has helped a lot but I'm not a big fan on the side effects. I only have four weeks of that medication left and before it runs out my doctor is hoping to put me on an injection medication that I may only have to administer myself bi-weekly that will manage the inflammation and maintain the progress that the steroids made in these last weeks. Hopefully all goes well!
This disease has definitely given me a different perspective on life. I've had to change the way I eat dramatically in order to combat the flare that's going on right now, I've been cooking a lot more (Now with my hubby too which has been so fun!) and listening to my body better. It has also motivated me to get back to the things that are important to me, and that includes art! Currently I've trying to raise some stuff out of the ashes including my Instagram account. https://www.instagram.com/ms.cherielou/ Lots of little updates there and some personal diddies too. I've been sketching a lot more lately and have lots of ideas I hope to share with all of you! I am also purchasing my first Cintiq!! Really looking forward to getting that organic feeling of drawing on a screen, should feel much more natural and closer to drawing on paper. It is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday so I'm so stoked!! <3 I'm looking forward to the future and getting my disease into remission and managed. I think overall this experience will make me a stronger and better person. There are good days and bad but I'm making progress, and art will help me stay focused. Posted 10 years agoSo it has been a while....I haven't drawn a thing except one traditional doodle since I took my hiatus in early November. The weeks have gone by so fast! I've resolved that I want to try and motivate myself to draw, and since I couldn't be bothered enough to draw my own girls, I need your help!

I'm sorry for pretty much falling off the face of the earth lately! I'm here to say that I'm planning on going on a sort of hiatus for a while.
I'm not in a place where I can be consistent in keeping up with this site the way I would like to due to a mix of personal reasons. I lurk, and
occasionally comment, but I just haven't been able to be active on a decent scale, so I'm just letting everyone know so you guys know
what is up if you don't hear or see anything from me for a while. RL is consistently just ending up being sort of unpredictable to say the
least. I've been quite stressed and scattered lately mentally and have taken to games as an outlet right now to chill out, I'm slowly
trying to get some motivation back art wise, but I can't sit here and say that I'm drawing multiple nights out of a week like I used to, so I
wanted to let you guys know that I'm just going to say I'm on hiatus since I can't really be all that active right now. It makes me sad,
it makes me feel like I'm letting people down by not being here as much, but right now I can't pressure myself about it. I have to take a step
back from trying to do everything and focus on some personal things for a bit. I thought with my last update journal things were getting
back to normal but they just aren't. And with the holidays coming up things are going to get more hectic and busy.
With that being said! I want nothing more then to get back to being inspired and motivated, I will be doing my best to do that while on hiatus,
those who are still waiting on my side of a trade, I will contact you with any wips that I may produce, I promise that I will come through on
my end, it just may be later rather than sooner, and I hope that you understand. If you have any questions feel free to note me.
TLDR: RL is a mess rn, I will be lurking for the time being and trying to get my shit together, I will work on art on the side as I can.

Quick Update - Back to Normalcy
Posted 10 years agoFeeling comfortable enough to say I'm going to be getting back into things full swing starting this week! I will be able to dedicate time to art on a more regular basis. These past two weeks have been pretty hectic, and a mix of emotions. I'm really glad I ended up participating in the myo Wingupuff event this past week because it actually forced me to think about other things, and just draw. It felt very therapuetic and I'm thankful for that. I'm feeling much more in control emotionally, even though the overall situation hasn't changed much I've come to accept it more.

RL Updates Art will be Slow

Sorry I haven't been as active here much, I've been trying to comment
on different works and fave more things, but my inbox seems to fill up so
fast that I end up feeling overwhelmed sometimes with my submission
notifications gahh! >.<
I also want to fill you guys in on my rl situation which is going to slow me down a bit on my pending trades...
Art will be slow for me for the time being, not sure when I'll get a chance
to pick up my pace again. My Grandpa has been in the hospital since last week
Tuesday, and he was transferred to a larger hospital on Friday evening.
On Saturday we found out that that he'd had a large stroke on the right side of
his brain, this is on top of him already having Parkinson's and dimensia, he's
only 76...anyway, he can't remember his name or birthday right now, and
we didn't get much in the way of updates on a plan of action that the doctors
were going to take so we're sort of just waiting? Just trying to be with my
family right now to support them, I'm his only grandchild, and my father is his
only son so we've got to stick together for now until we figure out our next steps.
I just feel pretty drained right now, and when I end up getting home, I have
to catch up on things around the house that I don't have much time or energy
to draw atm. (I have been taking pen and paper to the hospital tho!)
If anyone has some info on strokes and the possibilities of recovery I'd be glad
to read them!

I have recently come across a tumblr post stating that the term 'futa' and even 'hermaphrodite' can/are offensive and considered slurs to the trans/intersex community..and I guess I am now supremely confused?
I came to know futas as well...futas, so I didn't really refer to them in any other way, and I've seen the term used widely so I figured it was the correct term to refer to them with.. but now I'm not sure. Heck! FA even has a gender category as herm in the submission section. I also feel bad now because I've used the term in my commission info and banner that I posted recently.
So! My question to you is, what is a safe non-offensive term to use to describe females with male genitalia?
Would it be Trans? Transgender? Intersex? Is there a difference between Transgender and Intersex? I don't intend to offend anyone with what I've posted in the past, and I certainly don't want to continue to. It is hard for me to understand the intricacies of everything with so much mixed information and opinions everywhere so I figured I would ask all of you.

Posted 10 years agoHey everyone! Just letting you guys know that I'm still planning on opening up doodle commissions, however they won't probably be opened until the next week, possibly two.
After I came back from vacation my laptop has decided it wants to kill off the hard drive, motherboard, or both, so I don't really trust it. Thankfully I have everything backed up! I ordered a desktop and will be making the transition to it once all of the parts arrive! My screen and case have arrived I just need all of the internals to get here, but OMG I'm so excited!! I'm stoked to draw on a 24" screen and decorate my desk with my Urd and Chii figurines. <3
So hang in there everyone, I'll get back in my groove here soon! In the meantime I really hope to doodle on my gimp laptop tonight, overtime @ work has been doing a number on me.

After I came back from vacation my laptop has decided it wants to kill off the hard drive, motherboard, or both, so I don't really trust it. Thankfully I have everything backed up! I ordered a desktop and will be making the transition to it once all of the parts arrive! My screen and case have arrived I just need all of the internals to get here, but OMG I'm so excited!! I'm stoked to draw on a 24" screen and decorate my desk with my Urd and Chii figurines. <3
So hang in there everyone, I'll get back in my groove here soon! In the meantime I really hope to doodle on my gimp laptop tonight, overtime @ work has been doing a number on me.
