The world needs more shojo-ai! aka: I'm back!
Posted 10 years agoJust wanted to stick a quickie journal out here to say hi and let you guys know where I'm at! (Where are my other shojo-ai lovers at?? I want to talk someone's ear off about it!! There seriously needs to be more shojo-ai anime...just got done watching Walkure Romanze which surprisingly was entertaining, and now on to Love Live!)
I digress...
My hiatus was productive, I learned about many different things from approaches to anatomy, to teaching myself to better utilize the brush tool in Sai as well as textures and brush styles! I'm still expeerimenting quite a bit so while my drawing style hasn't really changed, the coloring will most likely continue to evolve and morph. Over the next few weeks I'll be uploading the things that I worked on while away starting from oldest to newest, I look forward to sharing them with all of you!
As for commissions, I'm still on the fence. I'll make decisions about what I want to do going forward once I'm feeling more solid in my coloring direction! <3

Leaving on Hiatus (Please Read)

I'm writing this to let you all know that I am going to be taking a hiatus from submitting art for an undetermined amount of time.
I've been thinking about doing this for the last month or so, waffling about whether I should or not, but right now I think it is what I need to do in order to sort out what I want to do artistically and to be happy. And my talk with VenusErotica last night cemented that maybe I just need to step away for a little while. (Thank you Venus for making me think and assess. <3)
I've become so caught up in the culture of art sites and comparing myself to others and letting that gauge what I do to the point that I've lost sight of drawing for myself and just submitting art that I am happy with without worrying what others will think of it.
For me art is a hobby, I don't have to make money from it, so in short art should be fun right? It shouldn't be stressful, and I shouldn't have to fill my gallery full of random things that I think I "should" submit. One of my greatest pleasures has been drawing freebies for people, and drawing characters that inspire me. I will only revisit commissions once I am more confident in my own style.
I am going to go back to my roots, and revisit my initial inspirations and also analyze new ones I've picked up along the way. I want to practice anatomy, color theory, and learn how to utilize more Sai brushes and textures. I'm a big fan of texture and organized messiness so I'm thinking I'll be going in that direction somehow. I may or may not post random art experiments on Tumblr and Twitter, so if you're at all interested I will leave those links here (tumblr is strictly art, twitter has some of rl me mixed in.. XD):

Posted 10 years agoSo just a little something to share and get that stress-filled previous journal outta here! Tbh I've been feeling quite light recently!
I finally wrote up a small little bio for my oc Kashmir. I honestly just love her, can't believe how much I've just connected with her even though she's my newest. Has that happened to anyone else?
Sorry this is sort of rough writing, I'll probably tweak it later, but I hope it gives you some insight to her if you're interested! <3
Strong-willed, sultry, confident, and refined. Kashmir is a Dreamy, a special humanoid species covered in velvety smooth short fur with finlike accents, and adorned with a signature pommed fluffy tail. Her tail is her lifeline, it produces the dust she needs in order to sleep and survive. Her tail can never be submerged in water since the thick fur will matte and mold clogging the pores which create the beneficial dust. This dust can also have an effect on others around her and can work as a sleep aid for them. Kashmir came from a very harsh upbringing, her mother was abused by a human master when she was a child and her father was not allowed to be a part of her life. Kashmir lost her mother, and shortly after ended up running away to start a life on her own and search for her father. She trusts very few, especially humans. She has grown up very fast, vowing to make more out of her life than being subservient and submissive. She was scouted by Bianca who she initially turned down, but Bianca was persistent and they struck a deal and are now working together to find her father. Kashmir is a waitress at the club and quite enjoys it. Even though a waitress job would be considered a serving position, working at the DollHouse has opened her eyes to the attention her presence commands and she quite likes that power, something she hadn't expected.

Hatred of Eating Noises...does anyone else have this?
Posted 11 years agoSorry this is more of a personal journal. >.< So, I've sort of had this problem for as long as I can remember. And only recently did I research it to the point where I found out it actually has a name, Misophonia. There isn't currently any treatment for it.
I don't hate all sounds, it is just when I can hear people chewing, eating, the spit noises etc. It literally feels like it drives me insane. My coworker sits in front of me and she eats loudly pretty much any time she is at her desk, she also compulsively makes this noise with air between her teeth it is just makes me want to punch something, pull my hair out, or run away. I can't just leave my desk everytime she eats, so I usually have headphones on, but that doesn't always help and I can't have my earbuds turned to the max or everyone can hear them lol! And I sure as hell can't say anything to her. So frustrating!
I even give my husband the look, nobody is safe.. >.<
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem or knows someone that does and how they deal? Crazy loopy concept I know. If I could just rewire my brain I totally would. I hate it.

Also, next month I become another year older...27 on the 6th, yay...ish? Just a number, its just a number. Anyway, I plan on finishing up the chibi commission and trade before month end like pronto. After that I have a remaining raffle prize on Deviantart to sketch out for the winner there, and then I plan on tackling this bad beauty of a sketch I've had laying around...

I may do a bbw only ych in the future, so I need some practice before then! I don't know how many I'll sketch but I do find drawing bbws to be quite relaxing, so the odds of more than one of you getting drawn is pretty darn good!

Coloring Style Thoughts
Posted 11 years agoSo...I've been having fun working on the ych piece and I wanted to try and keep the coloring as simple as possible but I seem to always go overboard because I want to make it look the best that it can! XD So in short...my simple coloring isn't as simple as I originally intended it to be...and I don't think it is different enough from my detailed shading to warrant a different pay scale. I have a few different ways of doing hair but that's it.
This makes it hard to create samples for future auctions lol! I think the only way I'll be able to keep things straight is if I leave something at the flats stage, and then make detailed shading the next step up, then I can go wiilldd and not worry!
Any other artists out there have this problem? XD

Ventyish - My thoughts on the Furry Community
Posted 11 years agoI've been seeing a few things concerning the furry fandom lately that really bother me. I'm new here for the most part and I didn't know much about the community until I started being more active here.
The first thing that hit me really hard was the events that went down at MWFF, and the unprofessional new reporters who couldn't even keep a straight face while describing the convention and what it was about. The comments I read following that Youtube clip were so devastating, I had all I could do not to start bawling on the spot. I didn't realize how much criticism the furry community suffers because people just don't take the time to understand what it is about. Instead they like to dwell on the really off beat members on the community whose tastes are definitely not the majority. To the artists saying they were appalled by the fandom and some of its tastes? If you don't want to draw something, don't draw it! The community certainly is not all about underage sex and obscure fetishes. Does it exist? Sure, but it is not the majority, and if you don't like it, don't look.
Second instance was just recently, I read a journal by a dA user saying they had left FA because furries are just dumb and they can't handle the stupidity. So this person has dealt with how many people that gave them that impression? 1? 3? More? Regardless, not all furries should be lumped under the same roof! I'm a big believer in how you act attracts similar kinds of people.
I guess my main gripe is just that people don't seem to take the time to understand furries at all. From my point of view in the limited time I have been here I have felt more warmth and genuine caring than I have in a long time. This community seems very open, accepting, and everywhere I go I see friendships, connections, loyalties, and love shown. I have been fortunate to not have had any negative experiences, and if that is to ever happen, I know that one instance does not define an entire group of people. This community has been wonderful, inspiring, and I'm so glad to have taken the plunge into drawing anthro. I've loved animals forever, and seeing people dressed up in fur suits makes me happy, makes me think of times that were simpler and less complicated. So to dive into this lush world of fantasy and combine my love of pretty ladies and animals, well it is a great opportunity for greater creativity and expression. I'll do my best to support this fandom!

A friend of mine had mentioned something to me via note, and it got me thinking that drawing anthro men would probably be much more enjoyable than drawing human men...I'm terrible ik lol XD with that being said I may have worked up enough motivation to try doodling a few.

I would like to do some fast sketch chibi practice, currently they look like this:

-females only, any species is fine, herm is okay but I will pick a pose that does not expose the genitals (need more practice and I'm not sure when that will happen... ^^;)

Hopefully well! ^^
I am in the process of working on my remaining commissions from dA & gasr and mixing in art for you guys here, so hopefully I can clear up my comms and be totally free soon!
I have to say fA has really been inspiring! Definitely enjoying my time here even if just browsing. I'm cruising for a more anthro adopt too, gotta get me a sexy furry lady. ^^
Anyway, I was wondering how you guys feel about ych auctions? Are they generally well received? Also, do you guys know of a certain time that is sort of best for posting art? Just trying to think of ways to get more visibility, any other suggestions and thoughts are appreciated! <3

I know most of you have watched me recently so I wanted to extend a special thanks to those of you who helped promote me yesterday, it has been a crazy few days! My art means a lot to me and it comes from the heart....so having supporters who enjoy it as well is great, especially when I'm trying to learn more about anthro characters! This community has been so welcoming and supportive it feels wonderful! I hope to keep in touch with all of you, I'm pretty easygoing so if you ever want to chat just drop me a comment or a note! I don't bite ^,^ <33
