Three Years!
Posted 11 years agoYep! It's been exactly 3 years since I first hooked up with who would eventually become my partner.
This last year has been especially difficult, and I really couldn't have done it without the love and support of my best friend, partner and loving companion
jackiedog. Three years on and no signs of slowing down anytime soon! In fact, headed off to spend 10 days with him here tomorrow.
I LOVE YOU DOGGIE!!! Heres to many many more years to come! <3 <3 <3

What happens now?
Posted 12 years agoSo, as most of you probably already know, my father passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago, April 3rd. I was overseas at the time, and through the "miracle" of technology, I was the first to hear (directly from the ER physician) that he had passed away. This set off a panicked chain of events as I had to find a way to get from Northern Spain to Madrid, aboard a plane and back home as soon as possible.
Thankfully I'm pretty well versed in that aspect of my travel, and I really didn't have any problems getting back home. I had a lot of time on the flights to come to grips with the situation, but how can you ever really grasp the fact that your father is dead and you'll never see him again?
You can't.
I never got to say goodbye, I never got to hear his last wishes, etc. It's just like a plug was pulled, and boom that was it. Immediately after landing in San Francisco, myself and my brother set off for the house here (where I lived with my father, and my most excellent best friend Mike). Anyway we've been so busy trying to figure things out, first the funeral services and the associated costs of said things.
I buried my father on Saturday the 13th, and while theres still an immense amount of work ahead of me as far as securing my place to live, hopefully keeping the property, government sequesters keeping a death certificate from being issued for up to and longer than 6 months, etc.. I think the reality of everything that we've been doing is finally hitting me.
My father is gone, I'll never see him again, I'll never hear him coming home from down the street on his new motorcycle, We'll never goto an airshow ever again, I'll never get to take him to Australia (like we spoke about the very last time I saw him alive), I'll never get to introduce him to Jackie, and my Spanish family, we'll never goto the beach again, or anything.
My life has completely changed, I'm not who I once was, and I'm afraid of what the world is going to be like without him by my side. . I'm sorry i'm rambling a bit here, but I really need all the love and attention I can get right now, I'm so alone, so sad, depressed.
I don't know who I am anymore.

State of the Eunos
Posted 12 years agoSo, I never write in this thing, but figured I'd try to squeeze another entry in here before the end of the year ..and man what a year it has been.
I rang in the new year in Spain with
jackiedog and his/our family. 12 grapes at midnight, the whole nine. Ate incredibly well, went to Carnaval in León, and most importantly, spent a good 3 months living with my doggie.
I left Trader Joe's, and took a job with a major US airline in May. Since then, I've traveled to Minneapolis, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, New York City & Madrid (I even did the crazy 45 minute visit to Spain.. flying there, then immediately flying back to the states).
Work is going well, it's pretty much the same thing every day, but I have a good time. We always load really interesting cargo, from boxes full of baby ducks, to human organs, seafood, eyeballs, bodies, etc. Never a dull moment there at the airport.
This year hasn't been without it's rough patches. I was hit by a car while riding my motorcycle, my father has had a bit of trouble, lost a good friend just a few days ago.. and January 5th brings the anniversary of my brothers death.
I've no intention of going to FC, cons really don't interest me anymore. I -really- wanna be a dog with friends again, but just not in a con atmosphere. Anyway, that next week I'll be traveling back to Europe for a little while.
Other than that, everything is gravy here! Nothing special to report, how are all you guys doing? :)

So long 20s! or I'm old :(
Posted 13 years agoBeen an interesting decade for me, lots and lots of changes in my life. Can't say that I'd have ever imagined me being where I am in my life now 10 years ago.
These next 10 years should be pretty wild as well.. Biggest change I believe will be relocating myself to Spain to be with my partner
jackiedog and start a new life as a European citizen.
Those are the immediate plans, we'll see where life takes me!
All I can be certain of, is I'll have
jackiedog by my side thru all of it, and that makes me incredibly optimistic and happy
Anyway, hoppy bird day to me! (May 3rd)

Reflections on Spain
Posted 13 years agoWell, I've been in Spain now for nearly 2 months. Just thought I'd jot down some thoughts on the place here while I'm thinkin' about 'em.
The town that I've been staying in is León, in the province of Castilla y León in Northern Spain. This particular part of town I'm in is extremely similar to the outer-Richmond area of San Francisco.. steep streets, joined buildings, the weather is nearly the same.. foggy and cool at night/morning, eventually burning off to mild temps and sun.
The area between here in Madrid is remarkably like California's central valley.. if I were blindfolded and dropped someplace, woke up there.. I'd say I was in California (no joke!). As you head west towards Galicia, the scenery changes from fairly flat, to slightly rolling hills, to fairly moderate sized mountains. The drive between here and A Coruna is a -lot- like going from the valley to the Bay Area, it's almost eerie how similar the surroundings are.
Of note, when driving on the autovia (freeway), there are NO advertisements on the sides of the roads, no giant billboards, no Flying-J's, no fast food.. nothing. It's actually quite peaceful. With fuel being so expensive (anywhere between $6.75-$8.00 a US gallon), there usually isn't much traffic on the more rural parts of the freeway.
The food.. oh god the food. it's something that's not easy for me to write about, you'll just have to come and experience it for yourself. All I can say, is I've found a new respect for pork, however I know once I get back to the states, I'm going to sorely disappointed by the processed garbage we hawk there.
Groceries are cheap, variety isn't too grand. The bread here is phenomenal, as well as all the olive oils. Very little processed food exists here. Infact, in this town alone, there are only TWO "fast food" places, which are McDonalds and Burger King.. and they're exorbitantly expensive. In the time I've been here, I've eaten processed food maybe twice. Everything else has been cooked fresh, using cheap, real ingredients.
People here seem to be genuinely happy, theres an overall optimistic mood amongst everyone I've run into. Everyone is healthy, and for the most part, in great shape.
"Breakfast" here is usually something pretty simple, a pastry, some coffee maybe, perhaps some yogurt, small and simple. Lunch is the main meal of the day, and usually happens anywhere between 2-3 or so. Shops close betweeen 2:00-4:30 for this time, to go home and have lunch, have a nap.. then come back to work. Dinner (around 9-10ish) or isn't a formal activity, and is usually something small and simple, say a section of bread and jamón (thin sliced cured ham), this is called "Merienda". Later in the evening (midnight-2am), many folks go out for tapas. Tapas are free, and can range from small jamón & manchego sandwiches, fried chicken, morcilla (blood sausage on toast), soup, patatas bravas to pizza, burgers and hot dogs. If you're doing it right, you'll hit up about a dozen or so places until 1. you're full or 2. you're stumbling drunk. A nightcap usually consists of fresh hot churros and a cup of thick chocolate for dipping/drinking. Bedtime can be anywhere between 3-6 AM.
It's a pretty relaxed lifestyle for sure, quite a change of pace from what I'm used to, but I like it.
This is getting quite long, so I'll sum it up shortly here. Later this month I've got Carnaval to look forward to, then at the end of this month, beginning of next month, I head back to Madrid to go back to California.
My time here has been amazing, I couldn't have done this without the help of some excellent friends, and of course the constant loving support of my incredible
jackiedog
Now.. get your ass over here and visit!

That fursuit Meme
Posted 14 years agoYeah so I don't do memes a lot.. (or at all here on FA for that matter) :-P But this one seemed interesting
Have you ever really thought about all the things you've done in fursuit? Here's a list of questions to help you figure out just how much fursuiting you've engaged in ;3
No rules (apart from having fursuited at one point or another), just answer the questions any way you'd like!
Posed in front of a mirror?
Who doesn't?
Been shopping/to a supermarket/store in fursuit?
Nopes
Been group suiting?
Of course, from Critters gigs to just random guerrilla suiting with friends
Ever put on your fursuit for no reason and worn it for an extended period of time?
All the time
Have you walked around your hometown in fursuit?
Hometown? Never
Fursuited in a different state?
California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, West Virginia.. so, that's a yes
In a different country?
Nope! Hope to change that VERY soon
Fursuited at a con? If so, how many times?
Yep
AC '03, MP '03-'05 '08, MFF '03-'06 '09, FC '03-'09 '11, FWA '09-'10. 21 times or so, might be missing some.
Drank in fursuit?
Yes
Eaten something?
I think so
Put on someone else's fursuit?
Yes
Ruined the magic in public?
No
Gone to a furmeet in suit?
Yes
Been in a moving car while in suit?
Yes, a visit to Burger King comes immediately to mind
Been glomped while in suit?
Ya
Glomped someone while in suit?
Probably :-P
Made a child smile?
Best thing ever to do
Danced?
Eh, I might've moved in a way that someone could possibly construe as "dancing"
Been in a fursuit dance competition?
Nope
Done something that attracted a large group of people while in suit?
Yes
Experienced a hater?
With violence, no
Longest time in fursuit? (what counts as being in suit is up to you)
Probably 5-8 hours
And finally...
Most memorable moment in fursuit?
Way too many to list

Posted 14 years agoHey guess what..
I be getting married!
To the love of my life
jackiedog
Date/Time is still up in the air, looking at possibly Yosemite National Park or Lake Tahoe area. Either way, someplace in the mountains :)
Soon as its legalized (again), dates will be set.
Invite list will be rather small, and it by no means will be a "furry" wedding. What happens after the ceremony, well thats up to you guys

Still going strong
Posted 14 years agoSo it's been nearly a month since I proposed to
JackieDog, a whole hell of q lot of stuff has happened since then that would surely test the strengths of even well established couples, but myself and my boy have pulled through, he was there to support me in my time of great distress. He was kind enough to attend the services for my grandfathers passing, he was always there for support and respect.
Our relationship, despite everything that's has happened, has grown even stronger, and I feel it growing stronger each and every day. There's not a day/hour/minute/moment that goes by when I'm not thinking about him.
Sorry to get mushy here, but I'm just so lucky to be able to call
JackieDog my partner and fiancé. I wish you all the best of luck in finding your second half, it can take time, but there's someone out there for -everyone-
From the deepest pit of my heart thru all fibers of my soul.. You complete me, I Love You
