WHY!? TTnTT
Posted 10 years agoWhy does it have to be so hoooot?
A fox I met recently is going through a kind of self help thing (though more about the psychology behind it rather than any one methodology) and it's somewhat inspiring me to finally get off my lazy arse and try bettering myself as well, you know, like I've been trying to do off and on for the past couple years? XD
Part of that involves getting myself back into shape, and one means of doing that is by getting my bike out that I haven't ridden much in probably 4 years and train those particular muscles too. But it's been stupidly hot out the last couple of days. It's currently 97F as of typing this (36C if that's the measure you go by) and I'm struggling to make myself get out. Yeah I should. I did yesterday and it was similarly hot, but at the same time it seems so easy to just say 'fuck it' and stay inside with the AC. So, let's try this in his method like my fox friend has been doing, but maybe backwards? I'll show ya
What do I get from staying inside?
-
I stay cool, and I don't risk sunburn. (though I have some spray on sunscreen I can use while out) I can relax, maybe get some reading done or even some drawing. However, knowing me I'll probably just be lazy and be a sloth on youtube or randomly hop around the internet, because, I can. I mean, Internet! Right? I also know that if I just stay sitting here I'm not burning calories, I'm not kicking my metabolism into gear, and I'm only letting my muscles atrophy further than they already are. I also run the risk of letting my mind wonder, a bad thing for anyone who's struggled with anxiety. (I'm hesitant to say 'anxiety disorder' but only because I am only self diagnosed, but there's a history of it on my mom's side of the family so, strong possibility I got it to)
However...
What do I get from going out biking?
I get hot, sweaty, sticky; all things that I greatly dislike being (unless sexiness is involved. <//<; ) I also wear myself out. I haven't been cycling nearly as much as I used to when I was in texas for a year, where I basically biked everywhere~. Sun was just as bad if not worse where I was too then, and it was hot still. (though dry heat, yay Eastern Kansas humidity Xp) Though I know if I do get out and get some exercise, even though I'll be sore and a bit miserable in the interim, I'll feel much better and far more fulfilled after the fact. Moreso if I keep with it every day. Guess that's my patience or rather, lack there of, kicking in. It's hard to be encouraged without seeing immediate results. Though I could argue that I am immediate results. I know that exerting myself does help balance my mood and balance my serotonin levels. (I think that's right? I should really look this stuff up while I type. Xp)
So ultimately, I can stay inside and stay comfortable for today, but on the whole feel worse for caving into my lazyness, or; I can get out, suffer for a little bit today, but feel better at the end of it. I can even still be lazy after I've been out for a few hours and get back home. (and take a nice cool shower. <3 Did I mention it's hot out?)
So, yeah. That's just my random thought for the moment. If anyone's even remotely interested in journals like this though or would like to follow my friend, I'd recommend checking out their journals.
This is his first day of the process here. -> http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6778027/
It's a pretty fascinating read for anyone who's even remotely intrigued by psychology or self improvement. He's also just an all around wonderful guy so, go give him a poke and say "Hi." ^.^
TTFN everyone! *hops on his bike, and rides off into the oven* TTnTT It's worth it. It's worth it. It's worth it. Oh how i hope it's worth it. Q.Q

Stream delay
Posted 10 years agoSorry guys, I really want to continue playing Grim Fandango in stream but I think I've gotta put it on hold. I wish I could give you a time frame but, it could be as early as tomorrow evening to, undetermined. Some things in my life are starting to come to a head unfortunately and I'm having to handle the situation very delicately. I will try to stream tomorrow, but I'm not sure what's going to happen. I'll keep everyone updated as best as I can. *hugs everyone*
Just won't stop.

So, life update and stream reminder.
Posted 10 years agoSo, a few of lasthaven and my friends know this, and I hate putting it out here like this but *sigh* ...
Andy and I kinda broke up last week. Now there's no hatred between us, there's no hard feelings, things just happened and we sorta grew apart. We still care very much for eachother though, and we plan on remaining friends still. To everyone who's helped us through this time, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Okay, now that the heavy stuff is out of the way
*****GAMESTREAM INFO*****
I'm streaming a little earlier this week. Instead
of waiting till Saturday I'm starting up my new
gamestream tomorrow, Friday. The voting is
still up for it (and currently stuck at a three-way
tie!)
Just as a reminder, the games I chose for this
stream are...
1: Freespace
2: The Walking Dead
3: Grim Fandango Remastered
If you want a say in what I play check out the OP
over [url=http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15669689/] here.
*****END TRANSMISSION*****
With all that out of the way, I hope everyone has a good weekend, happy valentines day to all you lovely couples out there, and for all us single folks happy discount chocolate day.
Hope to see you all Friday evening. Cheers. =^w^=

Posted 10 years agoGonna start streaming in about half an hour (4:00 U.S. Central time) Drawings, music, and more Psychonauts. See ya there. :D
Gamestream! (and no journals for some time?)
Posted 10 years agoBecause journals don't get nearly as much attention as submissions, but eh.
Anyways~
I'm gonna be doing a live stream later tonight. (10 PM Central US time) Come for games, jokes, music, possibly some art tonight but no promises. The game of the night is Psychonauts, so obligitary spoiler alert if you’ve never played. (and if you haven’t played it yet, GO PLAY IT! It’s absofrekinloutly brilliant!)
See you guys later. :D

Posted 11 years agoAnnouncement time! Just to let everyone know that there will be a livestream tonight at 9:00 Central time. The (hopefully) finale to our XCOM stream, and afterwards probably some mindless doodles. With that out of the way then . . .
. . . Last I looked, it's 105F (or about 40c for all those countries that aren't slow) in my neck of the woods. Any suggestions on how to cool off? No pool here, but I've strongly contemplated taking an ice bath. A less extreme method I've been taking is lying naked in front of a strong fan, but that's just me.
So, how are you guys beating the late summer heat? You enjoying the hot weather, or are you melting into a pile a goo like I am? Anyone frying eggs on the sidewalk yet? Lemme know how things are going for all of you.

Posted 11 years agoI'm just curious, does anyone else eat baked potatoes with the skin? Do you prefer to eat it without the skin? Any reason for your preference? What kind of potatoes do you like to eat? Favorite way to prepare potatoes?
So, anyone else out there still up, feel free to share some odd strange questions of your own. . .
. . . mmmmmmmm~ potato~

So. . . help selling some stuff?
Posted 11 years agoSo, I've come to the conclusion that, maybe it'd be a good idea to downsize some. In an effort to do so I'm looking into options for selling some of my personal belongings and weighing the options. That said anyone who's done any online selling (ebay, craig's list, all that lot) who could offer advice or let me know of their preferred services and why, it would be help out a /ton./
On a related note, I though maybe it'd be helpful to list some of the things I am looking to get rid of, such as. . .
-
Sega Genesis w/controllers all cables
Sega Dreamcast w/controllers (one original one 3rd party "Performance" and 2 memory cards") and all cables
2 Black Xbox 360 wireless Controllers w/wireless USB receiver for pc.
Red/black Nintendo DS Lite w/pink soft carrying case
-
So yeah, that's just some of the small items I'm looking to trade off. I hardly mess with any of my consoles anymore and mainly just hold on to them out of habit. Again, if anyone could help with some advice please do.
(P.S.
I may open up commissions or "sketch-missions," just in case anyone was interested. Shoot me a PM and maybe we could work something out. I'm not terribly great but I'm not going to throw the option out. Thanks again everybody.)

Update and stuff?
Posted 11 years agoSo to anyone who watches me or has been asking art from me, sorry I haven't been terribly active. x////x;;
This is what's been up but, not necessarily in order.
Earlier this week, finally got XCOM. Steam had it and the expansion AND all the DLC on sale so, I snatched it up and have become addicted. It's hard as hell, incredibly stress inducing at times, but at the same time it's incredibly fun and hard to put down. Beyond that, been dealing with family stress, surprise visitors, upgraded to cable internet /finally/ and been trying to get stuff working with new hardware *still no port forwarding, really need to figure that out on the new box* and that's about it really. Not much in the way of actual excuses. . . sorry.
As for drawing, I've been having some difficulty trying to do anything digitally. It's not that I don't have the tools available, but that I'm finding it more difficult to draw with my tablet than I have been with paper/pencil. If there's any digital artists out there that would be willing to offer advice or anything, please help. x.x;;;
I /am/ trying to sketch more, just having a hard time getting myself to do so and I think the difficulties I'm having with digital work are just stressing me out so, yeah... Guess I'll start doing more traditional stuff then? Iunno, I'm kinda fizzling out by this point. . .
*walks away in awkward silence* >.>

!WARNING WARNING WARNING!
* INCOMING RANT DETECTED *
!WARNING WARNING WARNING!
I've been noticing a lot of users talking about the most recent drama regarding FA and as much as I prefer to not make a spectacle of myself as everyone else has, this rant has been building over the past few days so, here goes. -deep breath-
Daily I've been seeing journals from users talking about leaving FA, not leaving, and some just ranting about what's going on. Now I'm sure whatever is going on is very frustrating to a lot of people. I've read stories from people who have had personal experience with parties involved and personally, I can't say anything because I can't in good conscience take any of what I've seen as fact.
Yeah it sounds like some bad choices have been made by certain people that may or may not be becoming part of the FA staff. Yeah there may or may not have been some bad choices made by current FA staff. Do I care about either of those? Well, yes, but that's not what's getting under my skin. What bothers me most is how the community has responded to all these stories.
I'm sure most everyone has seen at least one journal from someone talking about this and how it effects them. Personally I don't like seeing a dozen journals talking about the matter every day, but I'm fine with it. Open discussion is a good thing. Even the journals about people leaving to other sites such as Inkbunny or Weasyl are okay by me, artists want to make sure their followers know what's going on and where they can continue watching their art. What is getting under my skin though is how much, if you'll pardon the expression, shit slinging is going on between people leaving and people who are staying. For every few journals I see about people leaving, I inevitably see one about someone staying.
That's where I start to take issue, and it's these responses that frankly embarrass me the most as a user here.
You're leaving? Oh, that kinda sucks but at least you're letting us know where we can find your stuff. Ok.
You're staying? Great... What, do you want a medal or something?
Maybe it's just me but I prefer to let actions speak for themselves, and what I get from these actions are "I'm moving to a new base so here's my address" and "I'm staying right here and hording the leftovers for myself" respectively. This isn't a hyperbole, every journal I've seen saying that an artist is staying on fa, has gloated about it and in subtle and not so subtle ways, berated users that have chosen to move on to other sites. It's not a bad move on their part, it's not stupid of them, it's their prerogative to leave if they don't like the state of affairs with the site. Just like it's everyone else's prerogative to /not/ leave.
As for the people who are leaving, I feel for ya. I know things are grim, but that's life in general. Shit happens. If you want to leave that's perfectly fine by me, but take into consideration first the people that you might be leaving behind. Not everyone is going to share your views on a matter and you'll have to be okay with that. Just do yourself a favor and not jump ship as a knee jerk response to the situation. Think your course of action through to completion first, then make your move. If you decide that cutting all ties to FA is in your best interest then by all means, but I'd suggest doing so in a subtler and more casual means. Give your audience a chance to warm up to the idea, maybe do some cross posting for a bit or post your main work to your preferred location and post a clip or thumbnail to FA with a link to where the main image can be found. There's no reason to panic and run off in a huff. It'll only make things more stressful.
-sigh-
Now with that out of the way, anyone that is leaving FA or would prefer to see some of my larger highres images in their native glory... *snerk* sorry couldn't keep a straight face with that, but if you want to follow me elsewhere click the links at the top of the journal. You can find me on Inkbunny, Weasyl, Tumblr, and right here on FA. And all of my work will be cross posted so long as respective TOS rules alow.
Till next time.

Update, I'm not dead yet!
Posted 11 years agoFirst off, sorry if I'm really pessimistic or otherwise kinda bitchy but I've been sick last few days. My nose has been stopped up so badly I barely manage a couple hours of sleep at night and it's kinda having a toll on my emotional state so, please bear with me.
As of the moment, Tall Dark 'n' Handsome *my main computer* is down with video card failure. I may or may not be able to get him running again on the same card but it's unstable. I'ts sustained too much long term overheating that the board is warped or the solder joints are cracked or something of that nature. *please don't suggest the heat gun trick I've tried it a couple of times already* So until I can make room in my budget for getting even a cheap card, which I should be able to early January, I'm stuck on stumpy. Which that leads me to the next part...
Stumpy is running kinda okay now. I was able to upgrade it some with components from an old throw away system so now he's running a /stable/ 512 MB of ram *previously had a bad stick from amazon, I haven't had the best of luck with them with my last purchase* and the cpu is upgraded from a 566Mhz celeron to a 866Mhz Pentium 3. The downside of the P3 though is that I'm fairly sure it's overheating. After a number of hours of use the system will either freeze or reboot itself without any say so from me so, yeah. On the bright side though steam will run *but not skype for some reason* and Paint Tool Sai works very smoothly for me so I can get some drawing done. So not all bad.
Again, I'm sorry if I piss anyone off right now or if I seem like I'm severly distraught. Between a lack of sleep and difficulties with my cold I'm not a happy camper. So, for now I guess it's orange juice, chicken soup and meds, meds, meds, and more meds. I'll see you guys tomorrow. Lots of love to everyone.

Posted 12 years agoDraw something. Anything! But just draw!
Posted 12 years agoI don't know why but I feel more creatively inspired the fewer tools and fewer options I have available. Let me elaborate.
If you look back at an older journal you know that I've gotten very wrapped up in a game called Draw Something. The concept is simple, pick a word, draw what it means or what it stands for *or something abscure but still correct* and someone else guesses. The problem with the game for some though is that you start with a small selection of colors and have to purchase the rest through in game currency. I've found that this kind of barriers actually helps push me to be more inventive in what I draw. Besides the color issue there is also no layers, no different tools besides a pencil and eraser, essentially no undo beyond one stroke, and a very limited canvas area. However this seems to make things less intimidating. Yeah its frustrating not having a certain color you want/need for a drawing, just means you have to find another way to get your idea across, and as such exercise your ability to think up solutions without being given so many solutions that you don't know what to do.
Now recently I upgraded to the sequel of the game, draw something 2. More tools more words and more options, but it still has the same stepping stone method to playing. You start with simple tools and have to buy or unlock more advanced ones as you play. And it still pushes you to think in different ways.
That out of the way now, my question is this. Anyone wanna join it and add me to the list? I promise anyone that want to learn how to draw can get a good start with this game. Just look for Evil Pinki. ^^
Edit: link to the app. Sorry I don't have the IOS link.
