Posted 9 years agoMy nearest and dearest person in the whole world is going through a lot of problems at the moment; not only is he struggling to work due to a discrimination case and illness, he's recently lost his HDD and everything on it. Personal memories and projects, commissions, all gone. In order to get back to his commissions and provide himself with some sort of income he is seriously considering selling one of his beloved pets; a blue and gold macaw he's raised from a baby. His birds mean a lot to him and this would be really devastating, so I'm raising money to help him out as best I can.

Posted 12 years agoIf I see one more journal or comment saying IT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM or WHAT IF IT'S FALSE or THIS IS JUST DUMB FURRY DRAMA I am going to start murdering people and turning their skins into sketchbook covers and rugs.
THIS is why people are leaving FA. Not just the idiot decisions or the lack of improvement. But the community here in general is fetid and decaying from the inside out. The sheer levels of misogyny, transphobia and rape apologism is through the roof and people are fed up with it.
So no, it's not just "dumb furry drama". It's realising that a lot of people here are horrible, selfish children that don't give a shit so long as they can get their dose of badly executed porn.
You can sit there and clap your hands over your ears and shout LALALA NOT MY PROBLEM but it -is- your problem. Endorsing a place that is this corrupt and fucked up by continuing to support horrible people or simply condoning inaction is compounding the issue and letting the already ego-bloated perpetrators think they are beyond reprimanding.
Think about what people are saying before you simply nod and clap and declare "this!" or "sense at last!".

Posted 12 years agoAs my art output has shrivelled thanks to my depression and scanner conspiring to fuck me over, I think now would be a good time to quietly transfer my activity over to Weasyl.
You can still get me here for commissions or updates but the majority of my activity will be relocating to a site that does not make me feel nervous for being a decent human being.
I would explain why but apparently the staff seem so intent on botched damage control that a mere mention of anyone involved leads to a suspension and a deleted journal. Talk about shooting midges with cannons.
Safe to say that I have seen behaviour and attitudes on here that have given me good reason to trim my watchlist and also push me further away from here.
Weasyl is currently being DDoS'd out the wazoo (butthurt much, guys?) so it might take a while to follow be but I should be Weeburd on there.

I never really chose it's species... it just sort of evolved into what it is? It has two variations though which utilise my two favourite species of bird; Philippine eagle and the winter wren.
Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
If I were to be a tiny, fluffy birdy thing then yes.
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
It's a little more confident than me but yes, pretty much.

And also offensive as in a lot of cultures it is considered a very personal form of theft as these sorts of things are unique to the person, not just their life.

Technology and Me (Help?)
Posted 12 years agoI’ve had an on and off problem with it since I’ve gotten it where picking it up with one hand on the left side in a certain place will cause it to shut off as if I’d done a hard reset.
I contacted the guys at the store I got it from and they told me it might be static and to destatic it by taking out the battery and power cord and holding down the power button.
It sort of worked (ish)
But now I just have to pick it up (both hands) and have my left hand in the wrong place or set it down a little too hard and it shuts itself off. Lynn says I might be a static source but I doubt that if just putting it down makes it poop itself :(
I’m sort of annoyed with myself because I paid nearly £700 for this laptop and it is amazing and I don’t want it to be ruined because of my aunt’s stupid dogs (who knocked a water bottle onto it about a week after I got it but it recovered amazingly) and it’s only just had it’s first birthday.
I’m not at all a laptop/computer savvy person so I can’t confidently open it up and clean it out/sort out the issue myself and I have no friends nearby who could do it either. I’d consider taking it to a computer place but I don’t want to be charged out of the ass for problems that are an easy solve or not there because I’m an idiot.
I re-contacted the place I ordered it from so hopefully they’ll get back to me on monday some time. Until then I’m afraid to play games or art because if I move it wrong it might shut off again and I don’t want it to die ; - ;

WHITE TIGERS ARE NOT A SPECIES.
WHITE.
TIGERS.
ARE NOT.
A SPECIES.
They are a genetic mutation found mainly in the Bengal (Pantheria tigris tigris) but to be honest they are often mutts in terms of tigers. They are bred recklessly and intentionally without regard to subspecies.
They are also horribly inbred. You do not get healthy, recessive-gened animals when you have to breed them to their relatives so often you end up with THIS.
It's the same fate that's happening with the King Cheetah, which is simply a regular cheetah with a spot mutation.
YOU DO NOT BREED ENDANGERED ANIMALS WITH AN ALREADY TINY GENEPOOL TO GET FUCKED UP MIXED-SUBSPECIES JUST BECAUSE THEY LOOK PRETTY. YOU DON'T.
Any zoos that do breed them are ignoring their purpose to preserve the species and make sure their animals are as healthy as possible.
