You actually took time out of your day, FA staff, to kick me in the shins with this crap? Gee thanks.

Moving
Posted 9 years agoHey guys. I have decided to move my page to something that people won't piss their diaper over. I will from now on post my stuff at https://www.furaffinity.net/user/evilart/
evilart
I thought a lot about it and yeah, it sucks, but it's just not worth fighting the endless roaming hordes of morons. My shotgun is outta ammo, my chainsaw is outta gas, and my machete is dull from cracking into solid skulls. Someone else is going to have to fight against political correctness. I'm fucking exhausted.
I will still paint the titties and punani, though, have no worry about that. WITH IMPUNITY! The human race is hopeless but it must go on.

Cobra Commander propaganda poster orders
Posted 9 years agoOK, so I am going to put in an order for some poster size prints of http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15504219/. I am getting a 24x36 one for myself. If you would like one that size, or another size (please consult https://www.sixthleafclover.com/printing/) please let me know. I will then tally them up and see if she can give me a discount for multiple copies. Then I'll pester you for paypal info, gather the moolah, and place the order.
New Tumblr
Posted 9 years agoI have put up a new Tumblr page at:
evilartlair.tumblr.com
It will have the same stuff I usually post here, just with easier notification options and shiz.
Yeah it's ugly now but as I find time I will customize it with awesomeness.

WTF is wrong with people?
Posted 10 years agoGetting banned from a stream simply for my screen name (I won't get into who did it specifically to spare you the drama) got me to thinking: is it worth it at this point to just fucking change everything because morons out there have no idea to function when a certain word comes up? Like Nazi?
See, I grew up with Hogan's Heroes and I find Nazis to be funny in a Cobra Commander misguided evil sort of way. Maybe that's letting them off the hook with a lot, but then when I consider it critically, not really. They're still laugh-worthy.
Other folks don't get it, and go all kneejerk in their mental retardation against the mere mention of the word. "Why would you want to use the name Nazi? It's so hateful!"
It reminds me of a time back in my animation days when I had started collecting and archiving some of the old WWII propaganda stuff from Disney, and had some of it pasted in my cubicle. Donald Duck and Goofy with armbands. The overly evil-ized Disney Nazi. A little sketch of our Alpha Bits "A" dressed up like Adolf Hitler with his pushbroom moustache and his hand up in the salute. One of the Jewish workers there saw it one day and threw a shit fit. They made me take it all down and apologize to her. I thought it was dumb.
I think the same shit is dumb now.
Why?
Ah, here's the part nobody ever bothered or bothers to fucking ask, because they just assume something and run with it.
I'm part Jewish. A good portion of my family tree was chainsawed off in Krakow and then more in Dachau.
But... but...
Oh, the irony! What will you slack-jawed retard fucks say now?
Yeah, I didn't think so. Stop bombing the people you propose to stand up for in your Social Justice War.

MFF
Posted 10 years agoI was stuck in Chicago for family drama, and it turns out I was stuck there while MFF was going on. So I went, with much trepidation, and it turned out to be not bad at all.
The ugly horrible shite that plagued 90s fur cons is mostly gone, or happens behind closed doors, or is at least somehow contained. Maybe this is a midwest thing or maybe the fandom has really actually matured and cleaned itself up.
The fans were not creepy. Rather the opposite. I met a lot of cool people. It wasn't just a case of "all the artists hang out at the end of the day and try to get drunk and forget the awful things they were witness to." It was a good mix of everyone.
So thank you, people, for not sucking, and helping me to actually enjoy the con. I'm glad to see that things are better, so much so that I may even be persuaded to attend other cons in the future.

MFF 2014
Posted 10 years agoTurns out I am marooned in the frozen north for a few more days so I'll be dropping into MFF. If you find me, say hello. Or throw rotten tomatoes.
Player piano
Posted 10 years agoMight not be anything new to anyone out there, but...
I got my old music equipment all set up and running, and while testing it out I came across some archives of old player piano rolls that had been scanned and digitized into MIDI. Sort of a revival of old technology into new, spanning a century. Player Pianos and music boxes were really the first stages of music recording, since nothing capable of capturing actual sound waves existed until the 1920s, after which they pushed player pianos out of the market. And, many of the composers of the popular piano tunes of the time were the ones recorded by the player piano. Essentially, every keypress of their live performance was captured, so now 100 years later it's like having the ghosts of Gershwin or Joplin or whoever performing "live" in your studio. Better than a recording, actually, since you can get real, clear, live audio from now using primitive data from then. Anyways i thought it was neat, so I'll probably make some actual recordings of the results and post them in the next few days.

Manga Studio question
Posted 10 years agoJust can't figure out what to do with the "sample data" that comes with the upgrades. There are no instructions out there on it for Mac. Does anyone know what you are supposed to do with this stuff? Thanks!
Alien Isolation
Posted 10 years agoHoly crap.
This is what a video game should be like. Especially an Aliens title.
You remember what sleep feels like, right?
...just remember that.

Closing down for commissions
Posted 10 years agoHaving cleared my list, I am closing down for commissions for a while, probably for the remainder of October, in order to concentrate on my own stuff for a while. I'll announce when I re-open.

commissions and DC
Posted 10 years agoI'll be heading up to DragonCon starting on Tuesday, so for those of you with outstanding commissions, I'll be out of touch until the next week.
I will NOT be arting while there, just attending as a "normal" person. If anyone will be there and wants to say hello, just look for someone who looks like Jayne Cobb :)

Commission posting etiquette?
Posted 10 years agoSo I am new again to the commission thing, and I am wondering what the deal is with posting stuff that's been completed. I feel sort of weird posting stuff someone else commissioned me specifically to create, because, well, it's theirs. Is it assumed that the artist will post it anyways? How is this sort of thing normally dealt with and done?
Thanks for the streaming tips
Posted 10 years agoOBS is such an amazing improvement over FMLE. Thanks guys!
Streaming tips? (Mac)
Posted 10 years agoAnyone else out there streaming from a Mac and have any pointers?
My problem is this: I have excellent audio (stereo at 40kbps runs fine, no skips, clear) but my video always seems to start out good and then turn to crap as the stream progresses. I have been shooting for a 10fps framerate of a decent desktop size for clarity (1280x960 or so) and it appears to start out well and then drop down to 1 fps or less. Even if I drop the size to something sad like 700x400, the framerate still seems to suck.
Using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder, on Picarto, and CamTwist for the desktop capture.
My upstream tests consistently at 1.8 Mbps, and I'm not maxing it with FMLE (maybe 850kbps limited) so I figure 50% of my bandwidth is a good cushion and should be able to cope with what I am doing to it.
Dunno what else to do, unless it's all Picarto's fault, which it could very well be. Anyhow, anyone willing to share their perfect stream settings, I'd like to see what y'all are doing. Thanks!

Posted 10 years agoPainter 13 sucks
Posted 10 years agoI just "upgraded" to Painter 13, and it sucks. Sure, the interface is nicer than the previous version, by some minor factors, BUT...
It's slower than molasses. Even after tuning it to be faster. I suppose that may be some small part better than version 12, which just fails to work at all in OSX Mavericks unless you go in and screw around with its guts, and then some things still cause it to vomit itself to death.
I do like how FINALLY, after 13 versions, you can actually import brushes from another person, or an older copy of Painter. Which they have been lying about in the manuals since version 6.
But then you still can't use it for the slowness. They claim it is faster, but it is not.
So in frustration, I went back to version 11, and it is screaming fast. So screaming fast, in fact, that I believe that it actually improved my art, since I was able to do stuff that would have frustrated me from waiting too long to get it done. So I am just going to use version 11 from now on.
Massive failure, Corel.

Don't install OSX Mavericks
Posted 11 years agoIt will eat your installations of Painter 12 and 13.

Resolution test?
Posted 11 years agoWe're redesigning some things but we're running into issues with screen size/display resolutions. If you can spare a moment of your time, can you have a look at the following URL (http://www.sexyfur.com/new/main.php) and let me know:
1. If it loads OK for you (ie: all the stuff is in the browser window and none of it is lost off the edge)
2. What your display size is set at (example: 1366x768)
Thanks for helping us work out some bugs!
