Hello everyone :)

Some of you may have noticed that I deactivated my account for almost 4 months... I'm really sorry for that, but I just needed a break. I took a break from all art sites I'm at, from all internet games and also from art. I needed some time for myself, to rest. I am very sorry I disappeared without saying anything, but I didn't know what to say really - I especially didn't know how long I would be gone.

Before I left, I was trying to focus on improving my art, finding my style. I wanted to become better. The problem was - I had some motivation, but no passion for art. Now, months later, I finally found it. I realized what I would want to do art-wise. I want to focus on colored pencils, mainly drawing animals (pets). I love trying to recreate photos with my own hands, but creating photorealistic digital painting after a photo is... Well, a waste of time really :p That's why I want to go into traditional art again. I like to draw animals more than anything else (people/scenery/etc.) and colored pencils are perfect for animals imo, because you get so much texture from them easily. I want to especially draw other people's pets because of all the emotions that come with that. You know you are drawing something very, very close to other person's heart when you draw their pet. So, this is my reasoning behind my decision :)

So for anyone wondering what that means for my digital art: there will be no digital pieces for a long time, probably. I could use it for some sketching etc. when I don't feel like working on portraits, but since my tablet is always acting up and I have to restart my computer if I want to use it, it's just easier for me to sketch traditionally.

I've had some colored pencils at home (pack of 34, in an artist case with various art supplies I once go as a present) for a long time, but never actually used them because you know, how good can they actually be? I found that they are actually ok for start. The colors are quite vibrant and they don't use up quickly (I can work with a fine point for a long time before I have to re-sharpen). They are still nowhere near artist quality pencils (biggest problem is that I can't layer them at all). I will buy a pack of better ones, but I'm aiming at high quality, so I will have to work with what I have for a few months now and try to earn some money for new ones.

I already started on my first project - a drawing of a horse from stock photo. I set a tough challenge for myself with this one - A4 size drawing with full background. Not only is it big for the first one, but I am also very inexperienced with backgrounds. I still hope everything goes well :p

I thought it would be a good idea to post WIPs every 1-3 days (depending on how much work I manage to do in a day). But I don't want to spam FA with too many WIPs of same drawing, so I would be posting these somewhere else - Facebook, Tumblr or something similar. Where would you like to see those WIPs? Please, post your preference in comments :)

I wear glasses since I was a child (probably for around 15 years now) and my vision is now about -5,5 (don't know how to convert that... But it's very bad xD) I have seen a few years ago that when I have dry eyes, my eyesight is worse. I couldn't really see distant objects clearly, but I managed. Lately, this got much worse... It's like my glasses were -3 or -4 instead of -5,5. If I put eye drops into my eyes, it only helps for a few seconds and then it's back to usual... Drawing is really hard to do, but I somehow manage by enlarging the image (and I'm mostly enlarging sites on the internet... :p). Probably the biggest problem is driving. My eyes also hurt a lot in sunlight, so driving during the day is a nightmare - not only everything is blurry, but I can hardly look where I'm going... I was trying to find out what the problem is on the internet, but all I got was "chronically dry eyes" and there isn't much that can be done about that...
Does any of you know anything about this problem? Does any of you/your close ones have a similar problem? Maybe any solutions? I will be putting a warm cloth on my eyes, which I read might help - anything else? Thank you so much for reading my stupid journal x.x <3

I made a decision to close my commissions and stop doing YCH and similar things... The only thing that I might still do as commissions will be sketches (colored or not) - but that'll also wait for now...

I am wrapping up my last remaining commission/YCH, which only needs some more final touches, and after that I'll only be making art for myself - lots and lots of practices, trying to find my own style, maybe some gift art etc.

The main reason for this is my job. Paired with chores it takes away almost all of my time and energy and I hate that commissioners are waiting so long for owed art. Also, I get a good amount of money from my job and commissions add a really small amount to that, so it became somewhat pointless to stress over commissions, while I don't get so much out of them in comparison to my job.
Also, I started doing commissions as soon as buyers were willing to throw some money my way and when doing commissions, I can't really improve a lot. I did improve doing them, but I can't experiment as much as I could since commissioners pay me to make something similar to my other works, not for something completely different. I have to put more time into practicing, developing my own style and just simply experimenting with everything. I want to some day be a full-time artist, but I have an extremely long way ahead of me if I want to achieve that. Setting commissions aside and working on my skills is best way trying to achieve that.

So now, I'll continue to put all of my drawing time into my last commission until I finish it. Then, expect lots of experiments and practices from me - hopefully I can make my gallery a bit fuller :3

Hi! Sorry to all who are waiting for art - I know I'm slow... First reason is the old/usual one - my job, which doesn't leave me much energy and time to draw. And the second one is now weather - we have extremely strong winds, which reach 150 km/h (just under 100 mph) and are the cause for constant loss of energy in the last 3 days. I have a laptop, so luckily it doesn't turn off immediately after the power goes off, but the battery is so bad, it shuts down after 2 minutes or less of usage. So it just leaves me time to put it into hibernation when power goes off. And it's hard to draw when that happens every few minutes...

I don't have a job today and tomorrow (should have it today, but I canceled due to extremely icy road - don't want to risk my life for few extra bucks). So I'll be able to do some more drawing, if only electricity won't act up too much. I will also try to stream tomorrow - nobody said they'd like to watch me, but I might try anyways, see how it goes :3

I don't really like being watched when I draw... Especially because I like to check the internet and whatnot every few minutes and because I'm afraid what would people see... I don't really have much to hide, but still...

But I do like watching streams and I feel like others do too and I might get a new watch or two doing it, which would mean a lot to me... And it might help me focus more on the drawing and not click around so much always... xD

Do you like watching streams? Would you like me to stream sometimes and watch how I do what I do? If I get some positive answers, I'll seriously consider doing regular streams from now on :3

I'm running out of ideas for YCHs... Also, I only got 1 bid in total on both of my latest YCHs... So, I'd love to hear what would you actually want to see in my next YCHs. I got lots of great suggestions the last time I asked and turned lots of them into YCHs. Just a reminder: this is a great way to get a chance at getting your character in a pose you'd like at a low price (since SB is always low). So you can get something too out of it if you suggest a pose/setting ;)

NSFW theme/pose suggestions are also welcome! I might start with my first NSFW drawing through YCH :3 (I'd make a new account for adult art and only post it there, so don't worry those who only like to see clean art)

I love doing practice sketches :3 I use websites Posemaniacs and Pixelovely for this. Both are amazing, first one has lots and lots of 3D humans (skin-less, so you see muscles) in various poses and the second one has photos of animals and people (full-bodies and hands, feet, faces and expressions). I found The Croquis Cafe on Youtube a while ago and just left it open in a tab for until I'd want to use it. I finally decided to test it yesterday and I did 3 lessons so far - and I loved doing them :3 It's for figure drawing - models are filmed doing 5 1-minute poses, 4 2-minute poses and 1 5-minute pose. It's really amazing for all of us who can't be a part of figure drawing IRL. It doesn't in any way substitute drawing from life (it's way easier to copy 2D into 2D than it is to convert 3D into 2D drawing), but it's better than nothing, right?

I know most of you don't draw humans, but anthro anatomy is mostly human, so practicing humans will improve your anthros a lot :)

My journals are mostly vents and commission ads and I don't do this kind of journals often enough (asking my dear watchers about their opinions etc.)

I know that most of you have that written on your page, but this is a chance to really point out who you think is awesome :3

My favorite artist? On my page it says it's wolf-nymph. I put this there loooong ago and my interests have changed from then, but I haven't changed it because I think she does deserve to be on the "favorite artist" list and because I don't really know who to put there instead... There are lots of artists who I love equally, each from different perspective... I love mondeis, who is an awesome artist and amazing person. She has the style that I strive for... I love Deyvarah's art, especially her anatomy *.* And last but not least, Balaa. I might just say that she's my favorite. I especially adore her surreal works and Apophis and Sands of creation are one of my all-time favorite arts ever... If not my two most favorite from all. I'd also like to point out AtomiccircuS from dA. Because not only is he a great artist, but he is a remarkable person. I wouldn't say that his drawings are my favorite arts ever, but his artistic journey is so inspiring. He wasn't some "wonder boy" who first picked up a pencil when he was 10 and could already draw better than artists who drew for 10 years. He loved drawing and set a difficult goal for himself when he was in his late teens and worked so very hard to be now a very well-known artist with great accomplishments. He adores art and making it and dedicates almost all of his time to it. And even though he is now way beyond us newbie artists, he makes time to help us with tips.

There are a lot more, but these are the ones that popped into my head right now.
I would also like to add that most of my favorite artists are not pros. I love seeing kinda-newbie artists who are working their asses off to be better. For me, the most inspiring artists aren't the ones that have it all figured out and post something every now and then... I love watching artists who are pushing themselves to be better, because they inspire me to do the same :3

I have big troubles with backgrounds... I never give them as much attention as I should, so they always look weird, blurry and don't look good with character, which is much more detailed. So I decided to fix that with doing a series of only landscapes. I really hope this will help.

I will try to do one each day, if I'll manage, but you can take as much time as you wish, maybe use each 3rd I use or each 7th etc...

I started a job recently - yay! This means less time (and especially energy) to draw. Because of that, the big series of sketches that I was doing as a commission for someone is currently on hold. So even though I will draw less, I will post more - I posted very little from the series, but I'll post everything that I'll now do. I'll first work on speedpaintings I owe and then on personal art. I will still be open for commissions - it will take me more time than it usually would, but if you'd like one, we can discuss it and I'll tell you how much time I'd need to complete it.

I'm thinking of making lots of sketches (aside from speedpaintings) and later do a sketches iron artist - probably for $5 a piece - would anyone be interested in that?

Hi! I have to somehow make myself draw more, so I decided to do one request - post a link to your character's ref and describe pose/setting you'd like that character in. You can post multiple refs, but don't just post a link to you character collection and say "choose something". You must post refs individually + each has to have an idea of pose/setting written next to it (because I otherwise spend 7 hours trying to figure out what to draw). I'll choose a character that strikes my fancy most - and I apologize to the rest of you.
Time: post your refs as soon as possible, I'll make my decision in a day or so

I've been quite busy lately, sorry for the lack of art... Birthdays have a lot to do with this - my husband had it on 1st of April, a day later was my dad's birthday... I had to bake, clean up house, prepare a party etc. Hopefully I'll have more time to draw soon :D

You might have read about problems I have with laptops... Well, on the one I'm using now, enter is not working (well, backspace isn't too, but that's not that big of a problem). And I don't have enough money to buy a new one :c Well, enter not working means I have to copy and paste when I want to make a new column xD Which is frustrating - but not biggest problem. Biggest one is that I can't post comments on Facebook :c Does anyone know if/how I can change settings so I can click to post a comment and not press enter? I'd love to know :3

Yay :) I hope I'm not getting happy too early, this is the first day I'm feeling better and it's only morning atm xD But it's the first time in days when I don't wish someone would shoot me with a tranquilizer gun so I could just take a break from feeling so sick xD I'm still coughing, but much less, the muscles in my stomach don't hurt as much any more, throat is better... I do have my sinuses full of...stuff...still, but but I'm used to the runny nose.

So this means: art stuff will be regularly filling my gallery again! I'm so glad I can draw again :D

You might have noticed I don't post as much as I did lately... From a post per (almost) a day to nothing in more than a week. There are 2 reasons for this.
First one is that we finally had some nice weather here and since we grow most of our food ourselves, we had/have a lot of work outside.
Second one is me being sick. It started with me feeling a bit sick and progressed. The last 2 days have been really bad. One of the symptoms is the one I hate the most - tingling in my throat. I spend most of my day fighting the need to cough and most of my night coughing (when I can't control myself). Because of the night coughing, my throat feels like it had been scraped and hurts a lot. Also the muscles in my stomach hurt from constant cough. I feel so lucky we have some Werther's Original since I found out they are great for this - they kinda "coat" my throat and reduce tingling and pain.
So yeah, I'm sorry I'm so inactive, I'll start making more art as soon as I can ;-;

I'm really not a photographer, my usual photography is grabbing my phone and quickly snapping a pic if my dog is in a funny pose :p
We had some beautiful weather last few days (after about 6 months of constant clouds and rain and snow...) and there are some gorgeous flowers blooming, so I thought I'd take some pictures. I started by taking my "usual" pics with phone. But after seeing what bad quality they were (it's not made for "macro") I fetched my camera and took some pics with it. I have zero experience with photography, but I'm quite satisfied with the results :)
There are many pics with bees (and some other insects). I really think the pic looks much better with some bugs in them too xD
You can use this photos for free as reference while drawing, no need to ask me first, you just have to credit me and I'd love to see what you do :) If you want to use them for photo manipulations, ask me first.
