Another year
Posted 4 years agoAnother year approaching its end. It had its ups and downs, but overall I think it had perhaps a bit more of ups than downs. We lost our beloved dog, but gave shelter to two lovely pups who needed a place. I got some vacations in Orlando for a week with wife which was awesome - 11 rollercoasters! - and was able to get some adrenaline going.
I have been tending to my queue of commissions, which I admittedly allowed to balloon. Commissions will remain closed until I finish the current ones and, after reflecting and talking with some friends, I came to the conclusion that the best path for the future when I reopen for commissions is to open very limited slots, finish them, then reopen again, and so on. As much as I would love - LOVE - for it to be, art is not my main job and sometimes my job gets hectic, pushing art to the background.
Perhaps someday I will be able to do this full time.
Anyways, just an update. Hope everybody have great holidays and beginning of the year.

R.I.P....
Posted 4 years agoYesterday, a big chunk of our hearts went away. Our 11 year old Golden Retriever girl, always a puppy, has joined her best friend forever who went away less than 2 years ago.
She has brought immense joy in our lives and really taught us what the meaning of unconditional love really is. I'll treasure the memories we had together forever.
Sleep well Bonnie. When you wake up, I hope you are play happily with your friend Sweetie in bright green fields forever. We'll miss you deeply.

Commissions open
Posted 5 years agoWelp, this sucks, but I have been stuck home for 2 weeks with COVID. I had very mild symptoms and no flu, thankfully, but cannot go out and do my regular work. Today after two weeks I took another test and...still positive.
So as I cannot work, I am opening commissions again. Anybody who's interested, please feel free to note me. Gotta pay the bills somehow... Thank you all for your support.

New Year. Not missing the past one in the least.
Posted 6 years agoHere hoping that everyone has a better year this year than the last.
For me, I got the final blow of a very hard year yesterday, on the 31st. At 3:56 AM, my father passed away after two months in the hospital. Though I kind prepared myself for it, I guess one can never fully prepare him or herself for such thing.
I apologize for the delay in the YCH and such. Hard to get my head in the game properly, but I will finish it until this weekend. After that...I don't know when I will be taking new commissions. We'll see how this year goes.
Again, hope you all have a great year and a happy 2020.

Apologies and current situation...
Posted 6 years agoFirst of all, I want to apologize for the recent silence and lack of updates, including on the recent YCH. RL has made things...complicated to say the least. I will be posting a WIP of the "Night at the Beach" YCH today.
A short explanation of what's been going on, well... First, my health. I have been suffering of indigestion and constant stomach pains since April this year but, in a very frustrating way, after doing several medical examinations and tests...doctors simply cannot find what's wrong. It is, on one hand, a relief that nothing serious has been found so far...but on the other hand, it's frustrating to live with constant pain.
Second, two situations that are happening simultaneously that have me, for the lack of a better term, lost. My Green Card expires in ten months, and I am short on funds for the citizenship process *because* at the same time, my parents overseas were evicted from their house and as my mother is 74 and my dad is 80, I am quite overwhelmed with financially helping them. That was a situation complicated enough to deal with, but, recently, dad had to be hospitalized so now I am helping them even more with as much as I can, which, in turn, is sabotaging my naturalization efforts as I have trouble getting the necessary funds.
While I would never mean to be an inconvenience to anyone or be any burden, still, a good friend of mine,
fireorca has set up a fundraiser for me. If anyone would like to contribute with anything, I will be leaving the link below. Any help is totally voluntary and I really have no words to express how thankful I am - both to everyone who is being supportive, helpful and understanding and to everyone who is being patient enough to wait for the completion of my current pending works. Thank you everyone.

Patreon launch
Posted 6 years agoHey guys. Just a minor update here. After a few friends insisting, I opened up a Patreon. Right now it's more a tip jar, where you can just help out your fellow raccoon, but hopefully I will be able to open up more tiers soon, with rewards, use it for stream announcements, and more.

Something to remember...
Posted 6 years agoOne should always remember to treasure every moment - especially those with the ones we love, no matter how small. Because in the end, even if we had many of those...we will wish we had more.
One of my fondest memories was from fourteen years ago. It was a rainy evening and I was in the car at the college parking lot waiting for wife to finish her class and come out. As she arrived, we spotted something on the corner next to the entrance stairs. It was the sweet black stray dog - about ten months old - who was quite smart and had learned to do a few tricks for college students in exchange for food - like walking on her hind legs, hop forward while standing, dance and doing high vertical jumps.
That evening, however, she was doing no tricks. Wife approached her - she has always been very doggy friendly - and checked her out. She was looking very thin and afraid. After giving me the puppy eyes (the wife, not the black doggie) I picked the wet little doggy up and we took her home with us, to feed and get her health up. She was a sweet little thing, so, the name we gave her translates as Sweetie.
Should have been Houdini though. She was incredible at finding the smallest cracks on the fence to get out and roam the neighbourhood and make wife and me walk and walk around asking all over for her - only to eventually find her laying inside our garage, as she would always return by herself.
Twice, however, she brought gifts. Ten of them each time, all little and fluffy like her and that's when we also found out she was an incredible mom. She even babysat for out cat when she had babies too and our cat would be very thankful. In the end, we found nice homes for all kittens and puppies.
Many more special moments would follow in the next 14 years, and though very loving and caring, Sweetie kept some of her "stray" traits, such as always trying to find an uncovered trash can in the house or a trash bag she could tear to get seconds even after she had a full dinner or lunch.
But things changed last year when we noticed a growth in Sweetie. We had taken her to the vet throughout the years and she was a super healthy dog, but that growth changed things. She went through the surgery as a champ and recovered perfectly. Or so it seemed.
This year, her energy gradually diminished. She would walk rather than run and rarely she would stand on her hind legs. She was a 14 year old girl after all, and would rather enjoy some quiet time and R&R.
Yesterday, at 1:31 AM however, all would change. She started moaning loudly and could barely stand. We tried everything but her attention was...elsewhere. Then the cat came and they nuzzled lovingly and the cat left, mewing sadly. Then our other dog - a retriever - started whining. We had a bad feeling but, yet, we had to try something...so, about one hour and half later, we had arrived one of the few 24/7 vet hospitals around. They confirmed our fears.
Finally, after a few hours, heartbreaking news and even more difficult decisions, wife and I pet her head gently as Sweetie closed her eyes for the final time.
Everything is different today. When a dog truly Loves you, they take a piece of your heart with them when they leave. Still...it's not too much of a high price to pay...compared to what they have already given You throughout their lives.
We'll never forget you, my girl, my doggie. Thanks for every sprint, paws up, lick, nuzzle, sniffling and tender gazes.

Question for you guys (Poll)
Posted 6 years agoOkay, guys. I was told by a few people that my stream sketch prices are...not very right. So I decided to make this poll here to know your opinion. What price you guys think would be reasonable for sketches?

Finally getting back on track
Posted 8 years agoHi, everybody, time for some update.
First of all, thanks for the words of support and the understanding. Now, 3 months after the hurricane came and took away power, water, internet and everything else and totally interrupted my production of art, I have finally everything I need to get back to it. All is set and working. So I am going to start by finishing off what I owe people. Everything that has been commissioned will be finished now. If you have asked me a commission before and I have not answered or you are no longer interested in it - and for that, again, I apologize - please, kindly let me know in a note.
Thank you again, everyone. Hope I can get things back to normal now.

Requiem for a tablet...
Posted 9 years agoWacom Bamboo CTH-461...thank you for all your great work, will miss you.
And the raccoon's drawing tablet bites the dust. Time to think about a replacement for it. Thank you for everybody who's been very patient with me and waiting for some commissions to finish, they are underway and WILL get finished - hopefully even better than planned. Just need to get a new graphic tablet to finish them...

Posted 9 years agoOkay so I got tagged by
train for this idea from
mojorover http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7554080/ , so here it goes.
- The Star: So I have actually created the idea of this character over a decade ago, with the intention of being a super hero who could allow for interesting crossovers between radically different universes (e.g. Marvel, DC, DBZ universe, Thundercats universe and many others). He was initially a mutant in the marvel universe. However, as I got really hooked by

Posted 9 years agoThank you for the kind words of support. It has been difficult days...and it probably will still take time to heal. But he is at rest now. The family has shown all the support to grandma and each other, and I think Grandpa would have liked that. Trying to get back to get busy now and...keep working. Life goes on, and I guess that's how he would have liked, to each of us.
To all who supported me during this tough situation, I thank you deeply.

Posted 9 years agoHello everyone...I know that I am behind with some commissions and YCHs.
