HANDS!!!
Posted 11 years agoI HAVE DRAWN HANDS!!! Let the cutting process begin! BWAH-ha-HA!
What no one is asking.
Posted 11 years agoSo, no body pointed out to me recently that I haven't made any submissions since the first of the month or wanted to know why.
Well, so answering that question I have to look deep into the dark recesses of my heart and explain the great gaping void that is my existence. You see, like other quantum variables in this universe, I remain in state of flux until actually observed. This means that I may or may not have been working on any number of things like: Cosmik's badge which may be about ready for cutting as soon as I can render a reasonable facsimile of hands, a submission to MFM's annual tshirt contest which I might not be able to post because there's a blind vote and I like to adhere to the spirit of the rules when arbitrarily possible, or I may have drawn any number of sketches and short comics about life and cons and personal hygiene. However, none of these possibilities actual gel into reality until I'm observed doing them or they are observed existing.
What do this mean, my humble watchers? That you're not watching me hard enough. You should be staring at me so hard that it totally creeps me out and I got running into the hills to resume my quantum flux undisturbed.
Well, either that or I'm a lazy person that has been to involved with other aspects of my life to complete or post anything. You can believe in whichever version of reality best suits you.

Hard and Unforgiving
Posted 11 years agoSo, I am working on two different projects at the moment and am having a hard time with them. Project No. 1 is another paper craft badge - for which I've finally decided on a design and now just have to mock up so I can start transferring and cutting it out. No. 2 is a T-shirt design for MFM's annual t shirt contest (not going to post it here because it's supposed to be a blind vote).
Anywho, both of these project have reminded me of: 1) how hard it is to transfer/enlarge/modify something without mechanical assistance; 2) how unforgiving ink can be as a medium.
Blah blah blah - work work - blah blah.
Be awesome!

Tablet
Posted 11 years agoIs it even a good idea for me to get a tablet to art on? I am thinking about it but I have serious doubts. Comments and suggestions encouraged.
March is here
Posted 11 years agoFirstly, February is a dick for being so short. Secondly, March is here and I am not ready for it. That is really it for news.
I suppose I should submit something here that is more than a sketch (i.e. inked work or another paper craft item or something). Don't really know what I'm going to do. It's very hard to find both the time and energy to do art (it's so hard pretending to be popular and have a social life).
Do any of the people watching me have any requests or ideas?

Scanner!
Posted 11 years agoSo guess what came in the mail today. No, not a brand new pony. No, not a - what? no, I don't think it's even legal to send that in the mail, you freak.
It was my brand new scanner! So what did I do? I took all the sketches I've uploaded recently and replaced the crappy photos with decent scans! Yay! (If you're still seeing the old images, clear your cache.) Woo-hoo!

Backgrounds and details
Posted 11 years agoSo, I was working some more on January's project, wherein I have finished the general composition and have moved onto background and detail work.
Oh god, I forgot how hard background and detail work can be. Now, I'm not talking about maybe and accessory or two and splash of color background so your figure isn't just floating in negative space. I'm talking about an scene in which the figures are placed in a setting with as much or more detail as the figures themselves.
In this case, I'm drawing the RPG characters of my friends in the setting of an abandoned library overrun with giants spiders. This means shelves with various books on them, a display case or two, and lots and lots of cobwebs... Oh god... semi-transparent cobwebs festooning everything. @_@ So first you draw everything and then you cover and erase and overlay and... then gouge out your own eyes with your pencils and pray the gods will forgive your hubris.
The point of this: 1) backgrounds and background details are hard. 2) Appreciate people that do backgrounds and background details. 3) Appreciate why a lot of people avoid doing backgrounds and background details.
Blaaaaaaaarg! (I like to pretend people read these, but I know I am probably just talking to myself.)

Scanner & January Project.
Posted 11 years agoSo, I sat down and ordered a new scanner. So, this mean the quality of the images I upload may be improving in a week or two. Brace yourselves, people. You know not what atrocities blurry picture quality has been protecting you from!
Anywho! If you've been keeping track of my scrap submissions, you'll have noticed that while I have been trying to keep my once a month submission resolution, it's probably not going to be finished by the end of the month (tomorrow). Is this a bad start to my New Year's resolution? Is this a crash and burn failure? I don't really think so. It's been successful in getting me to draw more, which is really the purpose behind it. And maybe I can catch up in the coming month. Either way, I'm still feeling good about this.

RPG study
Posted 12 years agoSo, in an effort to keep my new year's resolution for at least one month, I am going to attempt to do a four person composition from one of my D&D games - featuring the fursonas of my players as their characters. Step one: character studies of their fursonas. T_T I can do this. I can do this! (No really, I've already started character studies for three of the four characters. Will post soon.) Then compositional sketches. And then the final (hopefully) pencil drawing. Can I do it? Maybe! Wish me luck.
New Year's resolution
Posted 12 years agoThis year I resolve to make at least one art submission a month. If I fail to do this I will likely disolve into a puddle of shame in the shower and attempt to drown myself in denial I ever wrote this. On the bright side, should I fail, only seven people will know my shame. I love you guys in a vague and generalized way!
Commission
Posted 12 years agoOkie dokie, cowpokies. Despite my long history of not doing art often and finishing it even less frequently, I am thinking of signing up for a commission (singular- let's all be realistic here). What do you guys think? Or am I talking to myself here? I don't know. Words.
3 monthes
Posted 12 years agoWell, I finally finished Felpurr's badge. Only took three monthes- and this is why I don't do commissions. Anywho, if any of my seven followers feels like making a suggestion or request for my next project just give me a poke or say something.
General stuff
Posted 12 years agoSo, obviously, I am working on another badge. (Sweet baby Jesus, somebody help us - he's making the arts, again.)
Also pretty obvious: I am using the crappy camera on my Samsung Galaxy tablet to take pictures and post what I'm doing here. Yeah - that's the Galaxy tablet, the first one. Seriously. I am serious. You should see my phone - Nokia 6015i. I am that crotchety old man that tells the kids to stop laughing at my old stuff cuz it's old.
I used to have a scanner. It broke - a long time ago. I don't have it any more. I also wouldn't have anywhere to put it if I did still have one. And considering how frequently I do stuff, I think it's all for the best.
I'm going to type more words here. Words words words words words.
I think that's it for this entry. Come back next time when I'll prattle about something else.

MFM 2013
Posted 12 years agoReally enjoyed myself. It's always nice to take a little vacation from reality. Kinda wish I made it to more panels, though.
But now that con is over, I would really like to go home. AC is out and it's 85 in the house with humidity so high you need gills to breathe. In short: we're staying at a hotel until the air gets fixed. I wanna go home (bloo-hoo).
Anywho! Thinking about volunteering to run the game room next year. Also thinking about opening up badge commissions considering how well they were received. I don't know yet. Going to have to think about it after I finally get to go home.
