Holy HECK has it really been three years since I updated this thing?! Yes, yes it has! Well, grab a seat, a spot of tea or something - time changes a bunch of stuff, and we might as well get everything nice and neatly back in order shouldn't we? I've actually been meaning to do this for a couple of months since someone left a shout noting that I had essentially gone dark on my usual socials - which raised a good point really! Why didn't I do this a couple of months ago then? Simple answer really, I'm lazy, oops.

Anyway, still kicking, not dead etc etc - ring the bells rejoice all very fun. I've actually been relatively active artistically the last couple of years, which is good I think? I intend at some point to upload a chunk of that over here, but honestly FA isn't my main site and has not been for a long time. As for engagement social nonsense, You may have noticed that Twitter has essentially become a cesspit recently - I mean more than usual, and in horrid ways. Frankly I got sick of it the moment the owner started trying to incite riots in my country, kinnae be having that or tacitly tolerating that, so I left. Social access is still important though, both for discovery, and because one of the main bits of enjoyment I get out of drawing is being able to natter with folk afterwards and around the various subjects - so in absence of a bird, there's a butterly now over at https://bsky.app/profile/thedangl.bsky.social - this'll PROBABLY be the most up to date place for me posting anything since even with Itaku I'm probably only ever uploading things in batches, similar to how I used to over here.

My DMs there are considered semi-open, in a "This is the internet and I'm not really obligated to respond to anything if I don't have the energy or willpower to" way that introverts delight in. I obviously have private messaging apps, but I reserve those for people I know and am comfortable being around, since uh - yeah, scary. But otherwise I do hope to be at least semi reachable whilst breathing!

And finally just to wrap everything up in a neat little bow since this'll probably be up for a few years too:

I'm a hobbyist artist, I go through phases of making and not making stuff, usually personal, sometimes on a whim for people I like/know and for the Bit - but I do not do the whole commission thing. I have a perfectly boring job to fund my life and adding compensation/money in the mix only stresses me out when drawing and I think affects the end product, which doesn't really benefit anyone. Whilst I operate on a base assumption that I do not do art trades, this is not set in stone, and firmly dependent on how confident I'm feeling in my own ability to actually live up to that trade - and since it would only really be between people I know/friends etc, it can be safe to assume that this is a no as well. I do not take requests either since I don't even do that from my brain. Sorry it really is rather unprofessional of me, but alas, hobbyist artist. I'm putting stuff up here for reasons I'm not quite... .sure of yet, and if people like that that's just a nice bonus :).

Just like that, a beautiful fuck off huge dead zone in the middle of my workhorse tablet for the last few years has naturally shot a bit of collateral into my plans. I already have a new one on the way, and I'll need to break into it, but in the meantime, I'm tentatively considering the idea of opening up a few ... *shudder*... commission slots. Nothing too major, since every time I've done a commission in the past, it's been a stressful as hell experience for me, but it's just an idea to offset the money required to get the ol dangls back and functioning.

I'm mostly going to be working out such a thing on Twitter because I'm much more in touch with folks over there, but I might as well put it out over here to see if anybody's interested in £10 for (approx $12) for a lined thing, be it fat as fuck or not hah.

We're in for a shitload of submissions to catch up on stuff whilst I was too scared to update this profile

Sometimes you just forget about certain websites in a maelstrom of work, doh!

Maybe it's the cider talking, as well as no small amount of fatigue, but how my latest couple of images have been turning out have been really giving me a boost in confidence. I mean, if I'm able to pull off some similar levels of consistency, and maybe put in a bit more fundamentals practice (anthros, other little niche fetishes I have) I might even start feeling comfortable about listening to the idea of commissions.

It's really just a thought, I honestly have no idea how much interest there would actually be towards such things, and there's images I kind of want to draw anyway (isn't that always the case?) - but I've seen people taking money for worse things in life. I dunno. I'm not exactly experienced in this whole shebang and it still feels like I'm lucking it with the improvements I've been making but hey. If there's any interest or such comments, do let me know, it might help me come to a decision on the matter instead of sitting on the fence.

Uh as for prices, as a general idea of what I'm thinking right now:
~£3.20/$5 for a rough sketch like you can sometimes see in my scraps. Usually takes me about 30 minutes when I'm in the groove so that fits about minimum wage.
~£6.40/$10 for some cleaning up and lining. Generally busywork that takes time. Might add in some basic colour at this level too since if I line properly that's not too much of a faff. Probably working under min. wage here but it's a hobby.
~£10/$15 for the additional shading and details I tend to like to add in ?

I dunno if I'm undervaluing my work or anything like that, and generally I'm thinking within the realms of things I'm doing right now of single character poses with some accessories. Complex stuff works differently I imagine but that's for more serious thought than drunken ramblings, anyway, enjoy browsing, passerby!

See, my whole policy on my hobbies was that University would always take priority, so that I could get a degree! Somehow, that happened, what's more, I ended up getting a job - not a great one but one nonetheless, straight out of the bat. In the time I've been at work it's sucked up almost all of my free time like a hungry bastard. Combined with people stealing cables to drawing equipment and working about 50 hours a week has left me exhausted to no end, shelving any drawing hopes until I got enogh energy to actually cope with the scheduling.

Sadly work just ate up all that excess so I've not even had an opportunity there either.

Maybe soon there will be art. I have the equipment now at least, just not the energy - and my god I'm so rusty I'm so sorry.
