What brought you to babyfur?

What drew you to the babyfur fandom?
I've been a shy furry since I was in middle school- my earliest books were the Redwall series, and the margins of my old notebooks are filled with otters and mice in fantasy clothing. As for babyfurs...
I have nighttime continence issues, that I've had since I was in my late teens (urologist says there's nothing physically wrong with me). I ran into a diaperfur on Furcadia, waaaay back in the day, and discovered that part of the fandom. As I started meeting ABDL and babyfurs, I found a lot of emotional support for my problems, and was able to accept it as a part of who I am.
Are you more babyfur, diaperfur, or something else?
I am a babyfur through and through. My fursona is a 3 year old with a very active imagination.
What are your favorite little space or babyfur-related activities and things?
Cuddles and plushies, dressing up my plushes, other babyfurs, and myself! For watching Little shows, I need to be with someone- I generlly don't think of it on my own. But videogames are a given, especially on my 3DS

Furpoc 2017 aftermath
Posted 8 years agoSo back from Furpoc 2017- muuuuch better than 2016! I was glad to see that the communication and staffing issues from last year had been addressed and resolved! Had a lot of fun, and met a lot of cool new people. Was pretty irked that the Zoo, where I normally spend 90% of my time at the con, was closed down for 2 hours on friday evening for some kind of exclusive sponsor event (which to my knowledge had been held in a ballroom in the past).
This con had a lot of firsts for me, some good, some bad, hoo boy.
First and foremost, this was my first convention of any kind being single, as my long-time mate Renoch broke up with me last May
This was the first time I have EVER attended a room party at a con! I had a blast, too!
This was my first time with roommates other than Renoch- a room full of babyfurs has its pros and cons
This was the first time, seriously, that i didn't buy any merchandise at a con. For a while it was my tradition to get a new badge at every furpoc.
So in short, it was a great furpoc- maybe the best I've had! Dinner with friends and friendly strangers, parties and movies and saturday morning cartoons, and even a bit of art was scribbled out, (if not completed).

Anthro new england in review
Posted 10 years agoAll right, now that the dust has settled, I'd like to take a little time to review some of the things that made anthro new england what it was- despite its problems, I consider the con to be a success overall
I will start with the bad first, mostly things that were outside of their control:
The roof of the parking garage at the hotel collapsed, cutting off the top two floors and causing a big parking kerfuffle for furs arriving on friday morning- thankfully no one was injured, but my mate spent 4 hours finding a parking spot in the city. The hotel reimbursed his parking fees, which I was grateful for.
The convention did not have any power in the hotel outside of con attendees- this seems odd to say, but it means we couldn't eject people who were harassing the suiters- I ended up personally dealing with a teenager who kept trying to trip people in fursuit- or the woman who was ranting and screaming in the lobby about how all furries were child molesters.
The con space was not large enough for the record-breaking (for a first year) attendance of 720+ furres. often the game room and zoo were packed to the brim, except during major events.
Something my mate pointed out was that, especially because it was a first year con and an expensive hotel, it didn't really feel like we were welcome there. While many people who i explained the con too were friendly and receptive, many of the glares and looks i got in the elevator were less than friendly.
The number of events and panels did seem a little sparse- though i expected a light scene, there were stretches of time when I had nothing to do.
Okay! Thats all done with, onto the good stuff!
One thing i cannot stress enough- the panels i went to were excellent! The "Make a fursona" panel featured a trio of artists who would sketch a character you described, and would end with you ultimately getting a badge from the artist of your choice. a number of the participants were first-time con-goers without badges or ref sheets, and this was a great way to get their feet in the door and a badge on their chests.
Other panels dealt with serious issues in the fandom, like how to handle depression and gender identity. I would like to see more serious panels at cons alongside the lighthearted ones, as I feel furres often lack a good source of emotional support and sometimes need help understanding some of the issues in our community.
The events were excellent and entertaining, and the three con chairs were not only visible but accessible, something large cons lack. This conventions small size was actually an asset- I found it easy to locate furres I knew, and actually bumped into and recognized furres that I only knew from online communications.
As an added bonus, we had a very excited black lab from Vest A Dog going nuts with love for all the people he met, and he was utterly adorable. the con raised $10,000+ for the charity, which buys armored vests for police service dogs.
So on the whole, I think the con was a huge success, though my personal experiences were somewhat tarnished by the situations surround my arrival and departure. I might consider making the journey again, but i would prefer a different hotel.

The hotel car garage had a roof collapse, meaning that we ended up spending four hours getting parking (until we were able to get a spot when the business men cleared out). Not their fault, but it still meant we spent as long finding parking as the trip itself took
The con is small- only about 500 people- and a little claustrophobic. Its fun, there is no questioning that- I saw a lot of friends, and bought some art from artists I admire- but unlike Furpocalypse, there isn't anywhere to go if i start to feel frazzled, aside from my hotel room. The game rooms and the zoo are small, and there are no out-of-the-way spots to hang out. So I did end up spending a fair amount of time in my hotel room getting away from the crowd, as I am doing this very moment.

Breaking in the new year
Posted 11 years agoTrying to look forward and figure out if I have any serious goals for the coming year. My new years resolution, as positive as it is, is a bit too personal to share- I'm basically trying to change something about myself that I don't like, and I'm hoping that dedicating the new year to it might help.
Its not really a goal, but in February I'm coming up on my third year with Renoch ! Very excited about that- hard to believe its already been three years! <3

Posted 12 years agoUm... I'm not very good at writing, or saying insightful or heartwarming things, so this is going to be somewhat on the short side. But I want to at least say my piece.
Two years ago today,
athus passed away in a car accident, and i wanted to take a few moments to remember him. Athus had been a great help to me, and a real friend. He saved my life, and convinced me to keep at my artwork, even after my portfolio was stolen in college. He made me promise never to stop pursing the Answer, even though I believe it may be a lost cause.
So I just wanted to take this moment to remember, And to affirm how grateful I am that you were a part of my life. May the embers never die.

Such a weird feeling

Emotionally, I'm just... numb. When i do feel things, they're so intense and pure, but most of the time, its just blank, smooth, grey. I've come to the realization that some of thing things I love about myself- my patience, my effectiveness as a shoulder to cry on, and my somewhat stoic take on things come from the same source as some of the things I hate about myself- my complete lack of empathy (I call myself emotionally blind), and the fact that in the face of things which I know SHOULD evoke emotions, I feel... cold.
