Halloween!! For a lot of us, this is our favorite time of the year! Unlike our normal bi-monthly trades, this trade is THEMED! And the theme......HALLOWEEN!!!!
ONE MINOR CHANGE FOR THE HALLOWEEN TRADE!!
When signing up, as well as giving us your email, character ref, and rating, please ALSO request some costume ideas for your trade! You can be as generic or specific as you like, but if you request something that your partner might not be familiar with (a video game character, for example) please be considerate and add some reference images to help your partner.
The sign-up deadline is 9-30-2014.
If you are participating, you must have commented on this journal by 11.59pm EST 9-30-14. We will assign your trade partner via email within the next day or two, depending on how many participants we have.
The due date for your trade is 10-31-2014.
This is shorter than our usual trades! 1 month instead of 2! Please keep this in mind when signing up!
You may post your trade at any time before the due date, and you are encouraged to do so if you can! Remember, early submissions can earn merit points! Don't sacrifice quality for speed though - please make sure you put as much effort into your half as you would want to receive!
Once you have uploaded your half of the trade, please PM us so we can link your submission on the trade journal.

If you don't want to trade with someone, you don't have to. Only make a trade if both parties are satisfied. Don't be afraid to tell someone that you don't want to trade with them - we all have our own tastes. By the same token, please don't get upset if someone declines your offer to trade with them.
Although these "classified" trades are not subject to FAE rules regarding deadlines and quality, we can and WILL blacklist or put on probation those members who cause "drama". PLEASE be mature. If people are being confrontational/aggressive or starting arguments, please alert an admin and let us know about the situation so we can handle it. I don't think we will have this problem, you guys are a pretty great bunch all-round, but it needs to be addressed just in case.
If you have accepted an offer for the trade, please reply to your own comment saying so, so that everyone can see.
Let's limit these to one trade at a time for now - meaning you cannot post a new classified until you have completed your half of the trade. If your have completed the trade, post a NEW comment with your new trade info -don't reply to your old comment thread.
If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I'll clarify the rules as much as possible.

FAE - New Ideas and Rules - Please read and give input!!
General | Posted 11 years agoHey guys! Thanks so much for the responses to the last journal and the PMs I've received from some of you. Taking your input into account, I've come up with some ideas for the community. Please let me know what you think!
I must admit that some of the ideas will make my job a lot easier. The community has grown and my outside commitments have also grown, meaning I'm not always timely with responses and assignments - which actually really weighs on me! So maybe these changes will help "ease the burden" so to speak.
#1 - Make some/all trades PUBLIC rather than PRIVATE.
This is a big one. The most time-consuming part of the trade assignments is emailing all of you individually and sending PMs to those who prefer PMs via FA over email - and resending emails when they get eaten by spam filters - etc etc.
One thing we could do is, once the sign-up deadline is closed, is to just update the journal with a big list of who is drawing for whom. We can still send a mass email with the assignments too, but it'll be all right there for you to reference.
-Pros - People might be more accountable to their portions of the trade if they know that everyone knows who is drawing for whom
-Less wear and tear on the admin!
-Cons - Exchanges are no longer surprises :(
We wouldn't have to do this for all trades - maybe just the sketch exchanges? And that way we could host more of them!
#2 - "Trade Classifieds!"
As well as our regular trades, I could set up a "classifieds"-type journal and link it up in our profile info. If you are in the market for an art trade, just leave a comment on the journal with your info. If someone wants to trade with you, they can respond to your comment. You can accept it if you want, or just ignore/decline if you aren't interested in trading with that person in particular. These trades would not be "FAE"-sanctioned - meaning that if someone flakes out on the trade, they wouldn't be banned from FAE. They don't have to follow FAE rules. You can both agree on what you want between yourselves - theme, rating, etc - and set your own deadlines. It would just be a place to get your "trade fix" between official FAE trades. We could update with a new "classified" journal every 6 months or so depending on how popular the idea gets.
Does this sound interesting?
#3 - More free-for-all trades!
Our sketch trades are all "untiered" - but would people mind "full" exchanges being untiered occasionally?
#4 - Some rule revisions!
Just a few things I think will make things easier on us all -
*If it's a day or two past the deadline and you haven't received your owed trade, PM me RIGHT AWAY so I can check up on status. I have a hard enough time keeping track of who owes what right now, and that's a main detriment to me setting up more trades. If that's not something I have to check up on myself, it's one less thing for me to worry about. It's a little more effort on your part but I think you might prefer knowing that I am working on something rather than wondering if I'm aware of the issue?
*By the same token - if you've drawn for the same person TWICE in a row, please let us know and we will make sure that you don't draw for the same person three times in a row. Otherwise I don't keep track of who draws for whom. It's harder because we have a great hardcore group of people who participate EVERY round!! (Don't get me wrong, I love you guys! Keep it up!)
*Combining trade journals - We could do a single trade journal for oh, say 2 months - listing all the trades to come in those 2 months. Leave a comment and let me know in the comment what trades you want to join. If you want different characters for different trades, you can specify. All the info (dealines, themes, etc) can be in the journal under the individual trade headers. That way there are fewer sign-up journals to wade through. I really hate that the most recent journal is the only one visible! If we have more trades, I want them all visible!!

General | Posted 11 years agoHi gang! I just wanted to apologize for the lateness of this month's sign ups. They have been sent as of this evening. I shouldn't make excuses, but I (heresy) recently got a promotion at work which has meant some longer hours and a very tired and forgetful fennec at the end of the day! Couple that with tax season and spring cleaning and I just plum lost track of the month. Sorry!
Anyway! We've been a community for almost 1.5 years yet...and no one has used a merit point!
I am wondering - do we even need to keep track of this? Does anyone have input on this? We originally thought they would be fun incentives - earn enough and you get to trade with the next tier up, or pick who draws for you! But no one has wanted to use one so far. Just want some feedback!
We've been doing one big trade every two months and one or two sketch trades every two months too - how do you feel about this? Do we need more trades? Is the 2-month deadline just too long? (Sometimes we can forget about them, or things can unexpectedly come up...)
We've had a recent influx of new members which is exciting! I must apologize that some of you have drawn for the same people a couple times in a row. It's not something I can easily keep track of and take into account since we randomly assign who draws for who - but if you've drawn for furry x 3 times and you are sick of it, please PM us before the assignments go out and we can make sure that you don't draw for that person - but PLEASE only do this if you really have drawn for them several times in a row.
We'd really appreciate the feedback if you have the time. Please let us know what you like and don't like so we can work on making this community even more fun.

LIMITED COLOR SKETCH EXCHANGE SIGN-UP!

Sketch exchange!!!! The first one of the new year....3 months into the new year....oh well! Time flies! I forgot that Feb is a shorter month so the sign up is a little short this time around, 6 days instead of the normal 10. Sorry!
Our theme this month - LIMITED COLOR!!
The rules - sign up as you normally would, but also give your partner a choice of TWO colors. Your partner can use one or both of the colors, but the finished pieces MUST be done using those colors only. We will allow tints and shades of those colors - in other words, you can add white or black to make the colors lighter or darker, and we will allow the use of white, black, and grays also. And before you ask about saturation, just use your best judgment!
So, for example, let's pretend you sign up and offer the colors red and yellow - your partner can use bright reds, dark reds, dull yellows, pastel pinks (since red + white = pink), black, white, gray...but they can't mix the yellow and red to make orange and use that. Does that make sense? I hope so! Just think....LIMITED COLOR!
Remember though...if you offer the colors green and orange, and your fursona is pink, don't get upset when your fursona is colored orange in the finished piece!
BONUS IMAGINARY POINTS if you use only the colors provided and no tints or shades! Posterized furs! Vector furs!
The basic rules are the same as for our regular trades; Be timely. Draw at least 3/4 of the character(s). Give it your best shot. BUT this is going to be a sketch trade! Full color not required! Backgrounds not necessary! Sketches/doodles totally ok! (Please use your common sense here, everyone who is in the group has some basic artistic ability, stick figures aren't cool).
Keep in mind that this is a THEMED trade, and the theme is LIMITED COLOR!
The sign-up deadline is 3-1-2014.

The basic rules are the same as for our regular trades; Be timely. Draw at least 3/4 pf the character(s). Give it your best shot. BUT this is going to be a sketch trade! Full color not required! Backgrounds not necessary! Sketches/doodles/cartoons totally ok! (Please use your common sense here, everyone who is in the group has some basic artistic ability, stick figures aren't cool).

Halloween!! For a lot of us, this is our favorite time of the year! Unlike our normal bi-monthly trades, this trade is THEMED! And the theme......HALLOWEEN!!!!
ONE MINOR CHANGE FOR THE HALLOWEEN TRADE!!
When signing up, as well as giving us your email, character ref, and rating, please ALSO request some costume ideas for your trade! You can be as generic or specific as you like, but if you request something that your partner might not be familiar with (a video game character, for example) please be considerate and add some reference images to help your partner.

But please remember - one of our rules is that you must participate in at least TWO trades a year to be considered an active member! If you are on the memberlist and haven't signed up for a trade yet, please consider doing so! Keep an eye on the account page and also on our calendar of trades and events!
Please also consider suggesting your ideas for trades or group projects in our Suggestion Box! http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4674204/ If there are ideas that are already suggested that you like, chime in and let us know!

We've listed the members who are owed art, their refs, and even what trade they are owed for. We've made this easy!
In the past we've asked for single volunteers, but some of these people have not followed through with the promised artwork, so we're making this FIRST COME FIRST AWARDED. We will award 2 merit points to the first artist who draws for each member who is owed art. IF SOMEONE ALREADY HAS REPLACEMENT ART DONE FOR THEM, NO MERIT POINTS WILL BE GRANTED. Right now everyone who is owed art is owed sketch exchange art, so a sketch is sufficient.
Those artists who are on the blacklist will still need to complete their trades to get off the blacklist, regardless if a volunteer draws or not.
And on that note...
Don't forget, if you have merit points, you can cash them in!
-You can spend 3 merit points to pick either who draws for you (from your tier) or who you draw for (again from your tier)
-5 merit points allows you to choose both who you draw for and who draws for you!

DESIGN A CHARACTER SKETCH TRADE SIGN UP!

It's been a while since we've done a sketch exchange...so let's make up for lost time and do something creative! This one is going to be a little different from our normal sketch trades so please read the following carefully....
DESIGN A CHARACTER!!!
For this round, we're going to design characters for each other - with restrictions!
When you sign up, post in your comment the following info -
1. Male/Female/Herm/Whatever - What sex do you want this character to be? Do you have a preference, or do you want to be surprised?
2. Pick two colors! If you want to link to hex colors or something, if you're picky, that's ok, but you don't have to! Your partner will use these colors in your character's design, but your partner can also use other colors if they like in addition to the colors you pick. You can not specify what these colors are to be used for - for example, you can say "pink and yellow" but you can't say "pink hair and yellow fur with pink spots".
3. Choose up to three things that could be used to describe the physical appearance of your character. Some examples might be -
*Feathered
*Scales
*Hooves
*Horns
*Stripes
*Chubby
*Long tail
*Wings
*Mohawk
*Piercings
*Fangs
etc
Try to keep them as nonspecific as the examples above, to give your partner room for interpretation. You don't have to give three traits if you can only think of one or two (or none)
You CANNOT specify what species you want as a "trait" but you can use vague terms like "canine" "draconian" "mythical" so that your partner has wiggle-room to interpret as they see fit.
4. Your email, and rating preference. I doubt these images will be "adult" in nature but if you'd prefer a "sfw" ref feel free to specify that.
Now, since we are designing characters here, I'd like to impose two rules which are different from our normal sketch trades -
*MUST BE IN COLOR - It doesn't need to be pretty, but we want to see where the color would be in the design. It can be flat, it can be fairly messy, as long as it's there.
*Since we're asking for color and for a whole design, we're going to extend this trade to be ONE MONTH instead of two weeks. It will still be untiered. There will be no reminder journals.

TRAVEL THRU TIME SKETCH EXCHANGE SIGN UP

Sketch exchange!!!! Another month, another sign up. The theme for this exchange - TRAVEL THRU TIME! Your character has access to a time machine - what kind of mischief can they get into???
Sign up as you normally would, and leave an idea of the kind of historical (or futuristic!) period you'd like to see portrayed! Anything goes! Cavemen? Ancient Rome? Vikings? Renaissance? Victorian? Roaring Twenties? Distant space-faring future???? And for your artistic part - STRICT historical accuracy isn't really necessary (this is a sketch trade, after all) but DO try to do your best and maybe some quick internet research for costume ideas at least!
The basic rules are the same as for our regular trades; Be timely. Draw at least 3/4 of the character(s). Give it your best shot. BUT this is going to be a sketch trade! Full color not required! Backgrounds not necessary! Sketches/doodles totally ok! (Please use your common sense here, everyone who is in the group has some basic artistic ability, stick figures aren't cool).
Keep in mind that this is a THEMED trade, and the theme is TRAVEL THRU TIME!
