IMPORTANT - Change of Plans
Posted 11 years agoHey there, football fanatics. So, umm... change of plans!
It came to my attention recently that another member of our community had the same awesome idea as me - to start up a furry football league - and narrowly beat me to the punch by announcing his plans four days before this league went 'semi'-public.
After being in contact with the manager of the
uffl (United Furry Football League) about this unfortunate coincidence, I have been offered a position in his start-up league as VP of Operations, and I accepted the position. This effectively means that the FAFF (as a separate entity) will no longer be in operation.
HOWEVER!!! What this does mean is that many facets of the FAFF will be utilized towards making the UFFL a more intuitive, authentic, and friendly football experience for us fanatics. We already have a better-prepared and co-operative team of individuals will be running the UFFL. Several ideas from this league will be utilized, including the history of the FAFF, the Wiki page, and some of the forms and logos that were created as well. In addition, this league has been warmly welcomed by the community already, and we couldn't be more thrilled!
I highly suggest you check out the UFFL page and subscribe to it, and think about managing a team or creating a player for the draft! In addition, check out the official UFFL blog site ( http://unitedfurryfootball.blogspot.com/ ) and the Twitter feed ( https://twitter.com/UFurryFootball/ ).
I don't know what I'll be doing with this user page in the meantime, but for now, expect it to act as a mirror page for the UFFL until further notice.
Thanks for your understanding - I hope to see y'all over at the UFFL!

FAFF 2013 Pro-Team Bowl RESULTS!
Posted 11 years agoWho's our champion? Who will be reigning supreme for 2013?
_____________________________________________
RESULT:
PRO-TEAM BOWL 2013 - CHAMPIONSHIP - Saturday, April 26th, 2014
(7) Indianapolis (12-6) 13 v.s. (1) Connecticut (14-4) 10
My friends, it has happened! The Indianapolis Stallions have defeated the Connecticut Yankees in a Pro-Team Bowl! Despite a 7-7 tie after the first quarter of play, the offenses played almost identically. Neither quarterback threw an interception, and Indianapolis only earned 12 more yards than Connecticut offensively. However, MVP of the Game, Leandro Peters (Vole - Woodland), scored 12 tackles (1 for a loss), 1 sack, and recovered a fumble in the victory. Connecticut K Felipe Soldaro (Monkey - Woolly) also missed a 4th-quarter field goal that would have tied the game. As a result, 4th-year quarterback Marquis Pena (Caribou) and the rest of the Stallions team - despite having no games at home during the Playoffs - won the city of Indianapolis their 6th Pro-Team Bowl in history and sent the highly-favored Yankees packing.
Indianapolis Stallions Stats:
Total Points: 13, Total Yards: 334
Passing: 209, Per Play: 7.21
Rushing: 125, Per Play: 4.03
Rush Ratio: 51.67
Touchdowns: 1 (Passing: 1, Rushing: 0)
Field Goals: 2
Connecticut Yankees Stats:
Total Points: 10, Total Yards: 322
Passing: 203, Per Play: 6.34
Rushing: 119, Per Play: 4.41
Rush Ratio: 45.76
Touchdowns: 1 (Passing: 0, Rushing: 1)
Field Goals: 1

As you can see, the teams played almost identically - but due to the subtle mishaps of the Yankees, we have an unusual win by the underdog in this highly-touted match-up.
But as you know now, that is the end. Great season! Plenty of fun! Of course, none of you were around for it ;) but nonetheless, the action and anticipation is brewing to change all of that!
Announcements will be coming soon on the beginning of the new 2014 season - the season in which we hope to bring in new faces and new members into this community. Stay tuned! Feel free to PM me with any questions or details regarding the next season.

Connecticut Yankees - A Pro-Team Bowl Preview
Posted 11 years agoBy Jason Coe (Ram)
Visiting the Yankees practice field in Hartford was nothing short of an experience on Tuesday evening, as the team was working to prepare for one of the biggest games of their lives. Expectations were high, but also were the moods and 'tudes.
"Just a bit nervous, that's all. There's a lot of pressure on us to win this game, but we remain focused and I work with each of the members of the offense each day to talk about our game plan," said lead quarterback Geordan Abraham (Llama) - who has performed under pressure all season to deliver 14 wins to his team this season and 3978 passing yards - more than any other quarterback in the league. WR Isaac McGill (Goldfinch - American) led the team with 1078 receiving yards.
Connecticut still maintains one of the largest fan bases in all of American football, but has struggled to keep that interest in the last few decades. Coach Graig Richter (Cattle) wants nothing more than to bring back that winning attitude to New England.
"It's important to the Yankees organization; it's important to each and every one of these men and women; it's very important to me."
Coach Richter made headline news in 2011 when his daughter, Bella, was tragically killed in a car accident after attending a Yankees home game. Richter was elected Head Coach in 2011, and had been quoted saying he wanted nothing more than "to win a championship for Bella."
Safety Clifton Maher (Hawk - Sharp-shinned) performed exceptionally in the playoff games, aggressively forcing two fumbles and recovering one. The Yankees outscored their opponents 40-19 in the playoff games.
He, like many of the other team members, couldn't hold their excitement despite the trainings and wishes of the coaches - but Maher knows when to turn it on and off.
"We're not ones to brag - but I can guarantee you that I'll want to rub it in the faces of my opponents if we win it. I'm excited - but I'm maintaining my composure like I should."
The Connecticut Yankees will face off against the Indianapolis Stallions in the 2013 Pro-Team Bowl tomorrow, Saturday, April 26th. The game will be held in Richmond, Virginia, at the Virginia Falcons home stadium.

Indianapolis Stallions – A Pro-Team Bowl Preview
Posted 11 years ago By Collin Welton (Squirrel)
It was quite a stunning moment for Running Backs Paris Hamm (Dog- Mongrel) and Duane Waller (Wolf- Grey), as they watched the seconds tick to zero on the game clock. They had just overtaken the Houston Texans at their home turf, and they were returning to the Pro-Team Bowl – their win was official.
“And I just jumped [up] off the bench and ran out to the field. I think I tackled Jerrod [Underwood] on my way out,” said Hamm.
For Duane Waller, especially, the win meant nothing other than a chance to define his long career with the Stallions with a mark of importance.
“I’m sure there was some doubt with the younger guys. But I knew this was the year. The season record didn’t matter to me. What matters to me is the need, the thirst, and the will to fight. This crew – we want it more than ever before.”
Waller joined the Indianapolis Stallions as a walk-on rookie in 2003, but quickly rose through the ranks of the veteran running backs to be a stout contender, and took over most of the touches by 2007. The grey wolf’s popularity continued to grow beyond the team, and Waller has been seen as a regular spokesperson for many different health and medicine organizations, including the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and MedLife. Waller has said many times in the past that the fame and fortune don’t mean anything to him if it “cannot be returned to those who aren’t able to experience fame and fortune for themselves.”
Even more surprising for the Stallions was the impressive emergence of quarterback Marquis Peña (Caribou), who has slowly but surely found a groove in the refurnished offense under Offensive Coordinator Blake Bowman – his decision on whether to keep Pena came with criticism after their 8-8 showing in 2012.
“Marquis did not know whether or not he wanted to stay in Indy last year, but we made him an offer and he accepted. With the success he has had this year, we are certain that he plans to stay for a long time.”
It has been rumored that Pena had casually commented on the life of Indianapolis with a fellow reporter by saying that it “didn’t fit his lifestyle” and that caribou did not fit in well in the climate – recalling several instances where his physical ability was hindered and he blamed the weather.
Nonetheless, the struggles of the regular season do not matter when it comes to the limelight, and that was Head Coach Hiram Hines’ message to the team Tuesday during practice.
“I told them after practice Tuesday that all that mattered now was Saturday’s game – nothing else from earlier this season means anything. Fundamentally we are strong, and I don’t see how we can lose this game. We’re in it to win it,” said Hines, confidently.
When asked if the historical significance of this match-up was a factor to his team, Hines replied with a quick smirk and said, “No – we know it’s the Yankees. We know they’re going to come in raging. They have done that all season. We just need to rage harder.” Connecticut and Indianapolis were known best in the late 1970s and early 1980s when quarterbacks Sean McCloud and John Fletcher seemingly traded off Pro-Team Bowls, eventually playing each other in the 1980 Pro-Team Bowl – the last time that the Yankees and Stallions faced off on the big stage.
Waller, Hamm and Pena will face the Connecticut Yankees with the rest of their team in the 2013 Pro-Team Bowl on April 27th. The game will be held in Richmond, Virginia, at the Virginia Falcons home stadium.

Playoffs Week 3 - FAFF 2013
Posted 11 years agoWho's going to be our king of the football world for the 2013 season? We're down to it now! It has been decided: INDIANAPOLIS vs CONNECTICUT! A rematch for the ages and the virility of the 1970s prowess that was McCloud vs Fletcher - we will see who reigns supreme in 2013!

RESULTS:
PLAYOFFS WEEK 3: Week of April 19, 2014 - CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
(7) Indianapolis (12-6) 23 @ (5) Houston (11-7) 20 (OT)
At Houston, QB Marquis Pena earned MVP of the Game rights, earning their wildcard trip to the Pro-Team Bowl in overtime, devastating the underdog Texans. There were rarely any mistakes throughout the entire affair – no interceptions were thrown, and no fumbles were fumbled – and so it came down to who had the ball the longest. IND RB Duane Waller and IND RB Paris Hamm both got 20 touches each in the affair, as the coaching department penetrated the Texan defensive line. But the difference maker was the slightly-riskier throws of Pena – who achieved the highest QB rating thus far in the playoffs, and bought the Stallions another trip to the bright lights.
(3) Omaha (13-5) 12 @ (1) Connecticut (13-4) 17
At Hartford, the passing offense of Connecticut pummeled another team into destruction – Ron Cook could only muster 103 yards through the air, compared to Geordan Abraham’s 242. And although Omaha was better on the ground, the difference could not be made up – the Raiders suffered from a stout Connecticut defense that did not allow Omaha into the red zone the entire game. WR Arturo Starnes (Steenbok) was named MVP of the game for 94 yards through the air and a touchdown.

Pro-Team Bowl LV
Sunday, April 27th, 2014
(7) Indianapolis (13-6) v.s. (1) Connecticut (14-4) @ Richmond, Virginia
The Connecticut Yankees are favored by 4 points.
CON's Geordan Abraham (QB - Llama) has pushed his offense past many of the league's best in the playoffs, and it is their time to return to the spotlight on the national stage versus a long-time rivalry that was established many decades ago. Many people are salivating at the bragging rights to be reestablished. IND Marquis Pena (QB - Caribou) is none too afraid of the pressure. Having settled into the pocket during his 4th season, he is expected to make the game a viable contest. Both teams are seeking to claim their 6th and 8th Pro-Team Bowl win, respectively. An 8th win would break the tie established by the Baltimore Orioles last year, and put Connecticut back on top.

OTHER NEWS:
ANDY LANDERS IN HOT TROUBLE
Columbus' Andy Landers (DE - Tuatara) is in police custody on charges of Providing Alcohol to an Underage Minor and Involuntary Rape after officials say he took an under-aged intoxicated female Muskrat back to his apartment in downtown Columbus and had sexual relations with the girl. The girl then abruptly ran off from his building complex and called 911. Landers has yet to speak on the issue and calls were not immediately returned by his agent. A spokesperson for the Columbus Attackers told press that they are monitoring the situation, and had reportedly said that Landers "may not have known" she was underage at the time of the incident.
RICHMOND PREPARES FOR ITS FIRST BOWL
Fans of football are eager to bring the big game to Richmond, Virginia - home of the Virginia Falcons - to host the city's first Pro-Team Bowl. Despite the controversy of Richmond's situation with the Virginia Falcons, the city expressed satisfaction with the potential international attention. Richmond mayor John Hokesworth (Robin), congratulated the teams on their victories this Friday, but stressed that he "wished the Falcons had been on the big stage!"
Businesses are expected to bring in an estimated $5.8 million because of the event. Popular music performer 'Jackrabbit' is expected to arrive on Thursday in preparation for the half-time show.

Playoffs Week 2 - FAFF 2013
Posted 11 years agoMy friends, we are down to four teams! What an interesting playoff year it is turning out to be... but did your favorite team make it to the next round? Maybe... hopefully... probably?
_____________________________________________
RESULTS:
PLAYOFFS WEEK 2: Week of April 12, 2014
(5)(10-7) Houston 31, (6)(11-6) New York 0
- Signs have been showing in recent weeks that the Apples were a different, weaker team in the second half of the season. But who would have thought they could be shut out!? At Houston, QB Roy Dejesus (Chimpanzee) has been showing his suave capabilities, and the Texans defense limited the Apples to less than 200 offensive yards in this humiliating shut out in the Playoffs.
(7)(11-6) Indianapolis 10, (1)(13-3) Dallas 7
- Well, that was quick. In Dallas, the Knights didn't play badly, but were unexpectedly awful at being able to convert on downs and get into the red zone. This was perpetuated by unfortunate mistakes, including two allowed sacks by RT Brad Voss (Turtle - Box). In a close contest, Indianapolis narrowly escaped the best team of the season, for the chance of an eighth Pro-Team Bowl appearance in their successful history.
(1)(12-4) Connecticut 23, (7)(11-6) Cincinnati 7
- The magic of the Cincinnati Tulips is over. Playing in an extremely windy atmosphere in Hartford, the Tulips could not compete against the 329 yards of Yankees' QB Geordan Abraham (Llama) - and massive props were given to the Offensive Coordinator, who made sure to spread the ball around in this rampaging of the Tulips to the only remaining #1 seed. This was Cincinnati's first loss since Week 9.
(3)(12-5) Omaha 30, (4)(11-6) Virginia Beach 3
- The Luaus, as we know them, have played their last game in Peach and Blue. At Omaha, the Raiders shut down the Luau's rushing offense, and took advantage of scoring opportunities (set up by QB Ron Cook) for K Ed Nix. LB Will Babb also played impressively. With one more round to go, the question arises - will Omaha make it to their first Pro-Team Bowl in history? With a +3 turnover differential for the playoffs in their favor, things are looking good.

______________________________________________
SCHEDULE:
The two teams with the longest winning streaks were eliminated last week, leaving four completely different teams in the running - a dark horse (Texans), a wild card favorite (Stallions), the high house starry-eyed surprise (Yankees), and a young but noble and deserving squad (Raiders). What do you think?
Championship Round
Saturday, April 19th, 2014
(7) Indianapolis (12-6) @ (5) Houston (11-7)
- Stranger things have happened, but the possibility that the team who barely snuck into the playoffs because of the awkward collapse of last year's contender (Kansas City) has people throwing their arms in the air. While Houston's time is definitely a long time in the making - they have had a great last ten years of football but with very little to show for it - the Stallions are currently the favorite in this contest, as a potential for a Connecticut VS Indianapolis Pro-Team Bowl would mean mega-millions for the nostalgic match-up factor. It will be interesting to see where this one goes. (Houston also played Connecticut in the 1976 Pro-Team Bowl - they were shut out.)
(3) Omaha (13-5) @ (1) Connecticut (13-4)
- The Raiders head to Hartford, Connecticut - which now owns the record for most hosted Championship games (previously Baltimore). Can they win? This, arguably being the more exciting of the two championship match-ups, features two dynamic quarterbacks but an nonequivalent coaching strategy. If Omaha wins, it will be their first Pro-Team Bowl in history. If Connecticut wins, the popularity of the Yankees will (no doubt) be emblazoned back into the memories of those fans of the 1970s and 1980s who remember J-Fletch. There is a crowd for both teams, and whoever manages to roar louder will be the winner here.

HARRIS INDECISIVE ABOUT RETIREMENT
Green Bay Blizzard QB Alex Harris (Hawk; Red-tailed) has been with the Blizzard since they were established, has a Bowl ring under his feathers, and is undoubtedly a future Hall of Famer. But now upon finishing a one-year contract in which he struggled to take his team back to the playoffs, Harris has been questioned on numerous occasions about his playing status. He managed to stir the media a little this week when he stated, "I've thought about it. I need more time away from the game. I need more rest." The final part of that statement, of course, has been emphasized, as it indicates a tired Harris. Head Coach Danny Enriquez has said he fully supports Harris' decision, and is fully dedicated to the veteran's choice on the matter.
SPEEDSTERS HEAD COACH RETIRES
Head Coach Rex Darling has been in a position with the FAFF since 1984, and with the Detroit Speedsters since 1991, and as the Head Coach since 1997. Earlier this week, Darling silently announced his entering of retirement: "It is time that I leave the FAFF and begin the next stage of my life. I have enjoyed my time here as Head Coach, and we have had our shining moments... several memories have been established - Detroit has embraced me - So now, if you will allow it, its time to allow someone the opportunity to take on this wonderful experience for themselves, that I have been so graciously honored to have."
CHINCO VIDEOS ARE TAKEN DOWN
Last week, QB Chi "Chinco" Maio (Hyena – Brown) of the Corpus Christi Ladies again made headlines with his controversial web videos that depicted rather lewd acts in an effort of self-promotion to other league teams, reportedly removed the videos from his FurTube account Friday afternoon. One of the four videos had already been flagged for censorship issues. No FAFF representative was available for comment, but it is believed to be the result of a stop-and-desist order sent by the FAFF to Maio and the Ladies.
33 YEARS OF THE DIXIES - A YEARLY TRADITION
Fans of the Birmingham Dixies gathered in Montgomery, Alabama this past weekend to partake in a yearly tradition - a competitive bowling contest, with one pin added each year for the number of years to their existence. The contest began in 1991 as a regular 10-pin contest. 68 fans participated to achieve the highest score possible, and while no person achieved the highest-possible score (990), a score of 906 was recorded by William Dobratz (Squirrel - Grey) of Gulf Shores, Alabama. The reward for this contest? A cool $1000, two tickets to the 2015 Pro-Team Bowl, and a vacation for two to Paris, France!

Playoffs Week 1 - FAFF 2013
Posted 11 years agoWowza! The first week of playoffs is over – we are down from 14 to 8 teams remaining… and there were quite a number of upsets to be had this time around!
_____________________________________________
RESULTS:
PLAYOFFS WEEK 1: Week of April 5, 2014
(5)(9-7) Houston 27, (4)(10-6) Tucson 22
- As the Droughts had (more or less) limped into the playoffs, and the Texans made it in by the tip of their tongues, it was not too much of a surprise when the Texans took off and left the Droughts to dry up on their home field. How did they manage the win, despite 438 yards offense allowed? Don Stone (Zebra) – who ran a kickoff in, and kept the Texans’ hope for a potential cross-state showdown.
(7)(10-6) Indianapolis 17, (2)(12-4) Columbus 7
- Nate Nielsen and the rest of the Attackers struggled to put any points on the board, despite numerous opportunities, and this well-recorded cross-league rivalry fell in favor of the Stallions. Duane Waller ran for 151 yards and one touchdown, while an uncharacteristic Attackers rush offense only managed 52 yards. With an equally uninspiring effort through the effort, the Attackers were left without a clue, exiting the playoffs earlier than anyone had expected.
(6)(10-6) New York 24, (3)(10-6) Miami 21
- With Eric Andersen no longer at the helm for the Apples, nobody knew how newbie QB Andre Botkis would be able to handle the limelight, especially with an (almost) guarantee of all road games and having come off an injury last year that essentially sidelined the Apples from success. The Miami Heat, who are not used to the playoffs limelight just yet, struggled to burn the Apples to a crisp. RB Plato Madison (Dog – Carolina) got one on the ground and one through the air in this close contest.
(4)(10-6) Virginia Beach 29, (5)(10-6) Little Rock 24
- With the announcement that the Luaus (soon to be Lions) will also be changing their team colors after the season is over, one wonders how far QB Peter St. John and the last iteration of the Luaus can take their impressive team. They were disappointed last year in the second round – so let’s see if they can manage to make it further this time. RB Mohamed Hammas (Kite – Black) returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, tying a FAFF playoffs record, and guaranteed a win over the Miners – who generally had played better football for the majority of the game.
(7)(10-6) Cincinnati 24, (2)(11-5) St. Louis 10
- It’s been over a decade since both wild card teams made the second round of the playoffs, but if any team was going to make it, the Tulips were the most likely. The win over the Rangers marks the Tulips’ 9th-straight win. Failing to put on a show last year versus Atlanta, they made sure they were not to lose out immediately this playoff season. Thad Welch remained nearly-perfect, and the Rangers’ lack of big defensive plays lost them the game in this showing.
(3)(11-5) Omaha 38, (6)(10-6) Washington 21
- With Ron Cook emerging as an elite quarterback, the Raiders teased the Tigers into making vital mistakes that cooled down their roaring offense. Ben Polluck threw three interceptions and lost one fumble – making it hard to ever secure a good drive. Omaha’s Von Cahill caught two touchdowns, and sealed the deal with a final touchdown in the 4th quarter to beat the Tigers out of contention.

SCHEDULE:
So what does this mean for 2013? Well, none of the remaining teams in contention have been to a Pro-Team Bowl since 2009 (New York), so there will be a new rivalry established this year. In addition, at least one of the teams will get their first chance since the 1990s (CIN and CON) or their first chance EVER at a Pro-Team Bowl (VB and OMA)… which is pretty exciting! Here’s next week’s schedule:
Saturday, April 12th, 2014
(6) New York (11-6) @ (5) Houston (10-7)
Because of seeding, Houston achieves the rarity of a home game against the Apples, who have proven to be this season’s challenge. Remember – a potential division Pro-Team Bowl against the Yankees is always a possibility!
(7) Indianapolis (11-6) @ (1) Dallas (13-3)
The Stallions have their hands full as they attempt to take on the Dallas Knights – who, with rookie QB Leandro Nunez-Spencer – are definitely the most-improved team of the season, and are possibly a contending team for future years. Can the Stallions tap into the magic they had from the early 2000s and return to the spotlight with a huge upset? The Knights have won 12 straight games.
(7) Cincinnati (11-6) @ (1) Connecticut (12-4)
Cincinnati’s chances at a Pro-Team Bowl keep looking higher, but the Yankees have shut down high-profile teams like Dallas and Charlotte before. QB Geordan Abraham’s stellar season should not end here on their home turf.
(4) Virginia Beach (11-6) @ (3) Omaha (12-5)
The Luaus will keep the hope alive, as these two teams battle it out for their first Pro-Team Bowl appearance in history. Omaha’s chances have never been better, as they earn the 3rd-highest seeding of any remaining team after both St Louis and Columbus failed to win this week.

OTHER NEWS:
A NEW TEAM NAME… AND NEW TEAM COLORS TOO?!?
By now, it has been big news for months that Virginia Beach will rebrand themselves as the Lions in 2014. But it’s even bigger news now that the team is introducing new team colors – Golden brown and Yellow – that will replace the (outdated) Peach and royal blue that they have worn since their 1979 debut. Although Virginia Beach has been moderately successful under the name, and has outright won over the majority of Virginia’s fan base, the team felt it was time. “We were never under the impression that the Luaus were a plausible name for this franchise, and the fans tended to agree… [As] the Lions, we can establish a new beginning that will bring success to our team, and our first Pro-Team Bowl win,” said Head Coach Vincent Frankfurt during a pre-game press conference. Ironically, Virginia Beach’s win brings them a potential chance at the team’s first Pro-Team Bowl.
BUFFALOES CUT QB ANDY WRIGHT
After an uninspiring 5-11 season that placed the Buffaloes at the bottom of their division, the Buffaloes cut veteran QB Andy Wright (Lechwe) from their roster on Tuesday. Wright, who finished his 11th season and has had stints in Connecticut and Virginia, will have to fight hard for a roster spot on another team and prove that he still has what it takes.
ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER NEW COACH
Minneapolis has their fins full, as they fire their 4th head coach in 8 seasons. Fred Dahl, who was previously Defensive Coordinator for the Phoenix Storms, was fired from his position on Thursday after their 3-13 season ranked them dead-last in the standings for the majority of the season. A team member representative was not immediately available for comment.
TERRY HILLIARD SAYS GOODBYE
We all knew it was happening, but QB Terry Hilliard (Iguana) officially finished his contract and left the Wolves with a warm-felt goodbye this Monday. Even though Hilliard, who emerged in 1998 and had led the team since 2005, failed to win a Pro-Team bowl for the Wolves, the fans response to his presence had always been positive. Hilliard played in Detroit, Corpus Christi, Tucson and Chicago during his career. His post-retirement plans are to coach college football back home in Louisiana.
CHINCO IS AT IT AGAIN!
Fans are already well-aware of the exotic behavior that Chi Maio (Hyena – Brown) exhibits. Maio, who declared at the beginning of the season that he now officially goes by the name “Chinco,” has reportedly been trying to get traded out of Corpus Christi, using ‘generally unsavory’ tactics – creating several mini videos on FurTube that advertise his worth by flashing his Pro-Team Bowl ring, shaving his right arm, playing football underwater, and eating photographs of his rival opponents that included QB Kerry Galloway, Oliver O’Dell, and WR Freddie Cruz.

Week 19 & PLAYOFFS!!!! - FAFF 2013
Posted 11 years agoWell, friends, Season #45 is now officially in the books. And HERE ARE YOUR PLAYOFF COMBATTANTS!!!
Tucson, Columbus, Omaha, Little Rock (NFL)
Dallas, St. Louis, Connecticut, New York (AFL)
Houston, Virginia Beach, Miami, Washington (CFL)
Cincinnati, Indianapolis (wild cards)
bold = clinched division
With a 27-24 win over the Tacoma Blue Jays on Friday, Washington secured the final playoff spot (10-6) over the late-surging Charlotte Men (9-6-1), who - had they not tied against Denver mid-season - would have broken the tie and been in contention. Who knows - the Denver Horses, who also finished 9-6-1, could have found themselves in the same position...
The Connecticut Yankees and Dallas Knights have clinched the bye round (Connecticut wins the tiebreaker over Columbus), and the Houston Texans (9-7) are our lovely division-clinching team that will have to suffer an away game, as this is a symptom of the 14-team bracket and having the lowest record of any team in the playoffs. Houston breaks the tie v.s. the Los Angeles Litter (9-7) because of their division record (6-2), and having beaten the Litter both times during the regular season.
The season standings will be posted soon on the Wiki - which is still in the early stages of building, and there are about 5 teams yet without a primary page. Once I get those done, and have the final edits made, we can move forward and start advertising the shizz out of this league! For now though... read and enjoy!

Week 18 - FAFF 2013
Posted 11 years agoThis is my first journal entry, but ironically the end of a practice season run! Unbeknownst to all y'all :)
So... after an exciting "pre-emptive" 45th season to this new league of football flattery, it's time to move forward and put an ALMOST-close on the regular season. There is one small session of games coming up on Friday to close it out, but we are 95% sure of the playoff contenders for 2013:
Tucson, Columbus, Omaha, Little Rock (NFL)
Dallas, St. Louis, Connecticut, New York (AFL)
Houston, Virginia Beach, Miami, Charlotte (CFL)
Cincinnati, Indianapolis (wild cards)
Looking in: Washington
bold = clinched division, italic = playoff spot not guaranteed
While the NFL and AFL conferences are all but finalized, the CFL remains open for the Washington Tigers (9-6), who play the Tacoma Blue Jays (8-7) on Friday. If they win, their 10-6 record will surpass Charlotte's 9-6-1 record (after tying Denver mid-season), and the Tigers will win the final playoff spot. If not, Charlotte claims it, due to a tie-breaker over the spot going to Tacoma or Washington.
Surprisingly, neither Baltimore (7-9) or Kansas City (8-8) made a return to this year's playoffs, which guarantees two new Pro Team Bowl combatants, and a new league champion! (It was looking like K-City would return, until a miserable slump killed their chances). Dallas (13-3), Columbus (12-4) and Connecticut (12-4) remain the favorites. Tucson would like to avenge their 2011 run, as well as Dallas from 2007.
Of note, Quarterback Isaac Brown (MEM - Cat) also announced his retirement after a disappointing 7-9 finish in which the team failed to contend with the burgeoning Rangers, and finished last in their division. We have yet to hear of any other unplanned retirements at this time, but we will keep you posted.

So... after an exciting "pre-emptive" 45th season to this new league of football flattery, it's time to move forward and put an ALMOST-close on the regular season. There is one small session of games coming up on Friday to close it out, but we are 95% sure of the playoff contenders for 2013:
Tucson, Columbus, Omaha, Little Rock (NFL)
Dallas, St. Louis, Connecticut, New York (AFL)
Houston, Virginia Beach, Miami, Charlotte (CFL)
Cincinnati, Indianapolis (wild cards)
Looking in: Washington
