General | Posted 13 years agoAfter seeing a bit of trickling interest, I believe that the group should hold a contest to design two mascots for the group!
After discussing it with a few friends, I've decided to have one male and one female mascot.
I only request you follow a few guidelines;
For the MALE ♂
• must me male of gender
• must be an adult
• must be a crocodile
• must be an illustration (drawing)
• must be in color
For the FEMALE ♀
• must be female of gender
• must be an adult
• must be an alligator
• must be an illustration (drawing)
• must be in color
The deadline is December 10th (Monday) at 6PM SERVER TIME.
I personally would prefer the submissions weren't adult, but....you know how that goes >:U

General | Posted 13 years agoSo...I was thinking, since we are a group maybe we could have mascots?
Maybe a male and female mascot.
I have no qualms about illustrating them unless someone else wants to do it.
Or we could have a contest or something!
Design ideas and whatnot sound good too!
Let me know what you think :]
Then maybe, we can take the two winning mascot designs and do a portfolio of them instead :D
I've already started to find a few artists willing to do work for the portfolio, but I'm still looking for more!

I was thinking of doing it, but I'm not sure if there should be some kind of theme or anything to go with it.
I'm also not sure if the portfolio should feature males, females, or a mix?
I'm open to input and ideas! So please toss me some!
Also, if you happen to know any artists who may be interested, send them my way!
I'll certainly speak with them and see about putting their work in!

Why not have a free art raffle? ;3;

I'M seamen AND I'M GOING TO JUST POST THIS SO PEOPLE WILL BE LESS CONFUSED....MAYBE.
So...what the hell does "crocodilian" even mean?
I'm actually a terrible teacher so...let's just go with the wiki definition.
"Crocodilia (or Crocodylia) is an order of large reptiles that appeared 83.5 million years ago in the late Cretaceous Period (Campanian stage). They are the closest living relatives of birds, as the two groups are the only known survivors of the Archosauria. Members of the crocodilian total group, the clade Crurotarsi, appeared about 220 million years ago in the Triassic Period and exhibited a wide diversity of forms during the Mesozoic Era.
Crocodilia includes the true crocodiles, the alligators and caimans (family Alligatoridae) and the gharials (family Gavialidae), as well as the Crocodylomorpha, which include prehistoric crocodile relatives and ancestors. Although the term 'crocodiles' is sometimes used to refer to all of these, a less ambiguous vernacular term for this group is 'crocodilians'."
In layman's terms, it's an umbrella term for "alligators and crocodiles and everything in between"
