Posted 17 years agoIn other words, need cash and I've finished all the commissions I had :P
So, if you want art, and want it fast, then consider me, k? I'm rearing to go!

Stuff I'm good at, stuff I'm not, and stuff I should be?
Posted 17 years agoThis has been something playing on my little brain for a while now - I see a HECK of a lot of artists in this fandom, and the vast majority of them seem to have a very distinct style that they use pretty much for all of their pictures. By this I mean... say... an artist who draws cute toony artwork generally doesn't mix it in with uber-realistic detailed work, and vice versa.
To me, that's completely weird! Personally, I hate to be 'behind' on any style if one aspect of my work is much better than the others, but of course, seeing the incredible volume of 'types' of art out there, I can't help but be my usual mediocre self at most things.
So, what am I particularly good at? In my OWN opinion, these:
Sketching roughs, particularly fast character sketches
Reptiles - particularly dragons, snakes and lizards
Detailed heads of reptiles, scale patterning and all that
As a style, semi-realistic to uber-realistic
linework and hatching
paint-style colouring and lighting
drawing objects (weaponry, clothing, etc)
(and as themes:)
solo characters and poses
anything reptile
solo adult pics
simple multi-character interactions
bondage
inflatey things
wings (feathered or otherwise)
dynamism in poses when asked for
Drawing things from pretty much any angle (foreshortening)
Now, the things I'm not so good at, but really wish I were:
toony characters - improving, but... argh
transformation. NEED pratice here.
digital paint work - I'm improving fast, but I need a good solid project to tackle and I keep falling short as there's no real motivation :(
Good lighting placement in pictures
Background work - hoy... difficult
really believable multi-character adult interactions
Creatures in flight - SO frustrating! I can never decide on a viewing angle D:
So... what do YOU think?
Am I just another 'style' artist, or is it possible I switch it around a little like I want to? What do YOU think I should try drawing to see if I can?
(No, don't just ask for stuff you fap to, that's not the point here. More a question of whether or not you think I could pull a certain style or theme off successfully)

New price list and commission rules :)
Posted 17 years agoWoo!
I'm finally comfortable enough with my new style of work to price it, and offer it as standard :D
So... Here we go.
Sketches: $15+
A single character sketch with no background for example, would be $15. Price increases with complexity, background and extra characters, though I'm usually happy to keep sketch prices pretty low.
Example - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1327741/
Lineart: $25+
Lineart's basically a sketch as above that's been turned into clean linework, so the same rules for pricing apply. A single simple character with no background would be the base $25, more characters, complexity or a background add to the price.
Example - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1307129/
Simple/flat coloured picture: $30+
Again, as above. Flat/simple colouring involves painting whole areas, with little or no shading. Great for a clean, toony look. Price also increases with the shading detail, I'm willing to do a cel-shaded type of picture in this manner, for example.
Example - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1278468/
Coloured pieces: $50+
A simple single character piece would be $50, prices increasing as above with complexity, extra characters and backgrounds. Difficult lighting also increases price (candlelit dinner scene, for example, or fire) as does tricky effects like water.
Example - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1332880/
Digital paintings: $70+
No lines, just rendered detail. These are time-consuming and difficult, so it's always best to ask for a quote. The $70 base price would cover a detailed character head or bust shot, for example.
Example (excuse WIP!) - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1321253/
Other stuff on offer:
Conbadges: $15+
Usually a bust or half body shot with a simple colour background and name. Price increases with complexity.
Example - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1310471/
Reference sheets: $35+
The base price covers three views, front back and side with flat colour. Price increases for extra details and shading, etc.
Example - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1327155/
Paintsketches: $15+
These are simple, loose and fun. The base price covers a head or bust sketch.
Example - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1099950/
Now, rules and info:
All my work is completely digital, so no hard copies to mail out. I don't have access to a good printer, so I don't print and mail out copies without printing and shipping fees (I have to go to a commercial printer).
I always submit the sketch to the commissioner to review before I start on lineart or colour. I'm happy to do revisions, but will have to start charging if the commissioner wants excessive revisions or changes their mind during the commission.
Adult commissions are completely fine.
I'm pretty happy to draw most things, but I won't draw injections or syringes, scat, vomit, cub/underage porn, nonconsentual/rape or overtly religious themes.
I take payment via paypal only, to fallimar[at]hotmail.com - full payment upfront for small pieces, full payment after sketch approval for larger pieces. I am willing to take half at sketch approval and half on completion for larger amounts.
Quick commissions are my specialty! Sketches I can pump out in half an hour, lineart in a couple hours, and I can be persuaded to finish a coloured piece overnight. Rushed work can be of lesser quality though, and rush jobs may incur extra fees if I have to lose sleep or somesuch!
Anything else, just ask - I'm always happy to talk things over :)

One detailed digital headshot commission slot. Takers?
Posted 17 years agoRight!
To kick off my jump into trying to be a better artist, I'd like to offer a commission for a character bust/headshot picture, to be done at a high resolution and fully rendered in colour to be as detailed and awesome-looking as I can possibly manage.
If there's a photo reference for the animal the character is based off, all the better, but none's necessary.
Anyway. Because this is going to be a very detailed and painstakingly rendered picture at print resolution, I'll be charging $100ish depending on the character. That's taking into account fur, hair, scales... whatever the covering, but if the character happens to be hairless or smooth-skinned, I can reduce the price as painting smooth surfaces is much easier :)
So, anyone interested?
I'm also still open for sketches and lineart, note me for prices :)

Can I be proper artist now plz? Plz?
Posted 17 years agoOk.
I'm getting serious about trying to improve my artwork, and so I'm going to have to do a few things - first, I need to do more artwork per day. That means personal artwork -and- commissions if any.
Second, I'm going to scrap my current colouring method, because it's sub-par. After I finish my huge backlog of... one... commission.
I'll be taking commissions, but they'll be more expensive to reflect the huge amount of work I now put into it - lineart and sketches will still be cheap as they're still quick and easy, but as the quality's improved a lot in those as well - combined with the fact I'm no longer happy with turning out crappy work - I'll be raising the prices of those too.
As soon as I can, I'll be posting some completed artwork here, probably something simple like a headshot, but properly painted. So... hopefully, yeah.
Really trying here. I know I need lots of work, and I'm finally putting in the hard yards and getting a handle on some things I really sucked at before :)
Revised price list coming soon :)

HURR Strange artistic urges but no ideas. FUCK
Posted 17 years agoI have a really weird urge to draw porn, but... not regular UNF UNF FAP FAP porn.
I wanna draw funny porn. Like, stupidly overdone porn, or... stupidly malformed mutated characters, or... I have no idea.
Dammit, anyone know what I mean?

Still looking for art trades too - because I love 'em :)

Art trade, anyone?
Posted 17 years agoI'd like to open up three slots for art trades, preferably with people around my skill level... which I don't really know much about, but... uh... yeah :P
Also, if you like drawing reptiles or 'cute' kinda characters, that's a big plus :D
So! Comment here or note me if you'd like to put your name down - I'll complete my half of the trades pretty fast too, so please don't ask if you've got a lot on your plate or somesuch.
1.
2.
3.
For my half of each trade, I'm willing to do sketches (for quick trades, which I might not even need to count as a slot as they're so fast!), lineart (hatching-shaded or plain), paint sketches (also fast), smallish colour pieces or even a large detailed colour piece if I'm confident of getting a good trade :)

FREFORALL ART IDEAS! Gimme your best ponderings :D
Posted 17 years agoTime for musings on what you'd love to see more of in artwork!
Now... no asking for artwork here, this isn't a free sketches post, it's an idea throwaround. In other words:
"Draw my character doing X pose" or "I'd love to see more art of my char in X situation" = no.
"I'd love to see more kissing art" or "People don't draw enough iguanas" = cool...
"imagine a world covered in giant mushrooms where the inhabitants are all made of fungus grown into ambulatory animal shapes that feed by merging with one another" <- OMG AWESOME kinda idea.
Weird ideas are completely awesome.
Oh, and yeah... if I like your idea lots it might become a sketch :)

Sorta free maybe sketches... And why
Posted 17 years agoI offer a lot of random 'free' sketches and stuff from time to time, and... I get the feeling it's giving people the wrong impression about me - I'm not seeking +favs and comments and attention, I just genuinely love sketching, but unfortunately, my brain doesn't always cooperate and give me something TO draw.
I do sketches for people in order to give myself subject material, and this is why some of the sketches turn out awesome whereas some are a bit crappy - I make no big apologies for that (seeing as they're free! In my commissions I always try to do the best I can, obviously) - it's all to do with how interesting the part of my brain that deals with drawing finds the subject matter.
This does mean, however, that I get to draw some kickass characters and situations, and whilst getting commissioned for stuff in incredibly nice, sometimes I just enjoy the challenge.
I guess what I mean is... if you've got an idea that you think would tickle my artistic fancy, not just something you're too cheap to commission (yeah, most artists can generally tell if you're just trying to score free art) then BY ALL MEANS note or comment me - I'll ALWAYS take a look at ideas, and if you do happen to stimulate my art glands, you might even see it happen :)
Guess this is more of an open invite for ideas than anything - I might reiterate this in future if I get anything out of it.
Oh, and replying to this with a sketch demand/omg drawmycharacter plz now etc. will both amuse me thoroughly and ensure you're on my 'don't wanna draw for you' list. Hah.

Quickie commissions, anyone? They're fast :D
Posted 17 years agoNeed something to occupy my time that doesn't make me want to die of stress - I'm having surgery very soon and I'm on an annoying diet, so I need time sinks.
I have existing commissions, but all the ones I have left to do are very big ones, and I'm working on all of them slowly, but I really do need little fun ones to break it all up.
SO.
Sketches and Paintysketches a-go go.
Also lineart. Colour... possible.
Cutesy flat colour or really simple shading on a simple pic - okay.
Simple badges also okay. Preferably toony or cutesy. Or lineart.
Payment via paypal, to fallimar[at]hotmail.com
Paintysketches are obviously coloured anyway, but as sketches they're quick and loose, so if you like more detailed or structured stuff then go for a sketch or lineart thingamadoo.
As for a couple examples AND pricelist:
Paintysketches: ($10)

Sketches: ($5-$10)

Crazy detail sketches: ($20)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1021830/
Lineart: ($10+)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/708869/
Cutesy flat colour: ($15+)

http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1022118/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1005353/
Cutesy badges: ($15+)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1038029/
Also, adult stuff is fine with the usual restrictions (IE, no injections, blatant religious stuff, pedo, a few other things) so ask if you think it's a weird subject or something that I might not do.
Few adult refs:

http://www.furaffinity.net/view/880827/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/863875/
etc. etc. etc.
Also, I am LOVING drawing bondage stuff for some reason. No idea why, because I've always been completely rubbish at it before and not really been that interested, but I'm having all these weird ideas for situations and binding patterns and all that - woo. So, uh, yes. Bondage commissions (tame OR adult) are super fantastic happy time. :D
Oh, and I'm at home all day trying not to think about food, so I'll most probably get these done DAMN fast. Moo.

Leezard name
Posted 17 years agoSoo... not much interest in my name contest, so I decided on the name myself - The lizard's name is now Pickle.
I like that name :P
I like that name :P
Name Teh Leezard com-poo-tishun
Posted 17 years agoI can't be arsed naming the lizard thing, so I'mma turning to you people - the people who may or may not read the drivel that I churn out on this particular digital excuse for a journal :D
So!
Name the guy. Or gal. It's kinda genderless, so a genderless name would be nice, though it's not essential.
No crappy puns, no names that rhyme with lizard, no poncy, cutesy or ditzy names (archibald, schnookums, cindy etc) and for the love of all that's clean, no adjectives. That means no names like "sticky, jiggly, stinky".
Right! Now I've put a giant boot down on your creativity, if you can come up with a name you think fits the critter, post it here and I'll see if I like it!
Now, there's no real time limit on this since I'll basically judge it as I go and as I stop getting comments. Which, in general, takes a couple days.
Now for the nice part - the prize. Woo.
The prize is a picture of the newly-named leezard with your own character (or a character of your choice providing you have permission yadda yadda). That's one simple cg type dealie, or or a couple of sketches.
Woo. Name me!

Paint commissions open
Posted 17 years agoAlong with my usual shaded style, I'm now offering digitally painted art commissions :)
Usual rules apply (won't draw injections, pedo or scat, will consider most other things) and the pricing is as follows:
small/simple paint, no bg - $10
med (larger, more detailed) paint, no bg - $25
large, detailed paint, no bg - $40

Free paintysketches
Posted 17 years agoOk. It's free sketch time again - with a slight difference.
I'd like to sketch bodyparts. I'm in need of anatomy practice as well as paint practice, so to make this interesting I'd like to do paint sketches (as in no lineart, just digi paint) or single pieces of characters.
So - here's the deal - give me a character with reference, a body part you'd like drawn, and let me get to it. Also, you can be as creative as you like with the body parts, and poses... "draw my character's foot gripping a nut" is interesting, "draw my character's face" is not. I will draw faces, but... eh. booooring! If you want a face, I'll need you to be specific with the expression :)
A couple rules to stop me tearing my hair out and killing you:
NO PORN REFS. That also means no nudity unless it's tasteful. Sexy fine, Sexual not fine.
The only exception to this is if you'd like me to draw your character's genitals or other erogenous zones, which I MIGHT do. Ask.
One per person.
Only post YOUR characters, or have permission if you're asking for a piece of someone else's.
Also a reminder I'm open for commissions, in an open sort of way. That means anything from sketches to badges to full digi paintings, I'm doing :)
Ok! ask away.

digital "concept" art - commissions open!
Posted 17 years agoBecause I need major practice at it, I'm offering some smallish commissions in my new digital painting style. These are single character commissions, though that includes any clothing or armour, or weaponry... or anything like that your character might keep about their person.
This would also be a good opportunity to grab a reference for a small object, maybe a pendant or a weapon or a piece of armour your character has, for future commissions.
Like this:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1058561/
Anyway! 2 slots open at a time for now, price depends on size and complexity, but as a guide:
$15 for a smallish item detail shot, $25 for an elaborate item
$20 for a simple character picture or bust shot, $35+ for detailed character work.
I'm not good at backgrounds, let that be said now, but I WILL do them, though they'll fall under the detailed character work heading. :)
So, anyone like some digipaints?

Better, faster, not necessarily stronger... also badges
Posted 17 years agoI need to improve my artwork. I'm getting pretty serious about it, and I think it's time to focus on it as my main... thing... rather than fursuit construction. Don't get me wrong, I like making suits and I'll continue to do it as long as people want them from me, but the stress level from suit making is just insane, it's really draining me dry.
I mean, with a piece of art, you sketch, show sketch, make changes, ink, show ink, make changes, colour, show colour, make changes, done.
Suiting... things can go wrong at every single turn, and the 'show and fix' just doesn't work, as most people have no idea what the finished pieces are going to look like when you show them works in progress, it's just a mess of cut fur and foam. Blah. Then there's measurements, which are a NIGHTMARE, dummies, fitting, people putting on or losing weight, getting the damn fabrics, getting the colours right, detailing, sewing materials, picky customers, and fucking SHIPPING.
Completely realistically, I think that one or two suits every now and then I can handle, but making suits as a main profession just isn't for me anymore.
Aaanyway.
Badge commissions are open. See my Shmoo badge for a simple example, a lot more detail is possible as always :)
Badges start at $15, price going up for full body, extra-detailed colouring and all that jazz. comment or note me for a quote if you like :)

Bugger it - who wants a head sketch?
Posted 18 years agoDecided that doing a portfolio thingy is kinda a waste of time, since... well, I don't have to give a reason, since it's mine. hah!
Anwyay, I hate having to pick and choose, so if you want a headshot sketch, comment here with a head reference :)
It'll be in my sketchy style, probably not completely on model since I prefer to go a bit more stylised/realistic, but hey, PROPER free arts this time!
Yes, I'll do one for everyone who comments, unless you leave no ref, or a porny ref. No more freakin' porn refs for headshots! blarg.
As an aside - I like some well drawn adult stuff. I just can't stand to be inundated with random porn images without warning, it gets really irritating, especially since furry pron does pretty much nothing for me except piss me off if it's done badly.
So, yeah. comment to get a sketch :P

Species roll call - more people needed!
Posted 18 years agoSo far:

humanoid
feline - achoral, Lily, Gilligan
canine - fangsnowpaws, vulpyro, sekioh
equine - alize
cloven hooved - red river hog (fatkraken), Celestia
marine mammal - Baiji
marine non-mammal - Zacona
land mammals - angel fox, Growly, Drackir, Heliodor, Pachyman, Flye
rodents - Ardy
birds - Osprey, Kyreeth
insects
other - Woogle, Dralen, Bounder, leinir, Dooj
Things I DEFINITELY need more of:
INSECTS
HUMANOIDS
MARINE ANIMALS
REPTILES
HOOVED ANIMALS
RODENTS
Though everything is still open for people, as I'd like a nice pool to pick from for each. If you're wondering what this is, check my last journal, I'm picking characters to do sketched headshots of. And the rules reposted:
If you want in, I'll need reference material, meaning pictures and/or written description. Oh, and please, NO PORN! I see enough of that as it is. A link to your page isn't enough, I kinda don't want to sift through 20+ userpages and such! Also, only post your own characters, if you have friends who'd like to try as well, please ask them to comment. Thanks. :)

Species roll call - need some of you guys! (portfolio)
Posted 18 years agoRight. I'm wanting to give my art muscles a workout, and so I'd like to do a selection of headshot sketches of different species.
What it comes down to is that I'd like more of a species portfolio under my belt, and headshot/bust sketches are a good start.
So... I want a nice selection of interesting characters of different kinds, and for each of the characters I choose I'll do a free headshot sketch.
Now, the headshots are going to be detail sketches, so any overly toony characters aren't really appropriate, unless you'd really like to see a more 'realistic' version.
This isn't a popularity thing, I just want interesting characters to draw. I'm not going to choose based on anything other than how much I feel like drawing your character. If you're REALLY desperate to get a spot for some reason, I can treat it as a commission - IE you'd be guaranteed a spot and your sketch would be one of the first completed - for $20. But I'd really just prefer to pick people. Anyway.
Now, what I'd like...
2-3 reptiles
1-2 mythicals
1-2 humanoid
1-2 feline
1-3 canine
1 equine
1-2 cloven hooved (bovine, ovine, antelopey things etc.)
1-2 marine mammal
1-2 marine non-mammal
3-5 land mammals
1-2 rodents
2-4 birds
2-3 insects
and 4-5 that don't fit the above categories.
Biiig project, but since it's voluntary, has no time limit and I'm not charging, I feel I can have some fun with it. Woo.
I'll post a list of who I'm choosing to fill in spots and which ones need to be filled as I go along. I'm also posting this to my LJ for a bigger species pool, and because I forget how many people actually read anything I write :P
Tell your friends. Hey, it's free art. :P
EDIT: If you want in, I'll need reference material, meaning pictures and/or written description. Oh, and please, NO PORN! I see enough of that as it is. Sketch time agains! Oh, and a new year or something maybe. B
Posted 18 years agoRight, since my two last posts seemed to be rather well liked, here we go again -
It be sketch request time!
I'm busy busy so not taking full commissions right now, but quick sketches are fun and usually interesting, so I like to mix it up with them.
So, same deal - just throw me a description or idea with refs if possible, and I'll do ya a little doodly sketch.
If you really like it and want it lined or coloured or whatever, feel free to contact me and I'll give ya a quote :)
So, ask away. Don't be shy! You don't have to know me or whatever, this is something I do free for everyone and for fun :)
And have a fun new years, eh?

Details, details... And a big-ass piece of art.
Posted 18 years agoRight.
Now, there's something I'd like to do, and I'm only taking on one right now, because it's gonna be exhausting.
Here's the deal - I want to do a beautifully detailed, Hi-res, HUGE piece of art for someone.
I'll offer it as a commission, of pretty much anything desired - up to 5-6 characters, background, nicely digitally painted with as much detail as I can cram in - pretty much anything*. Also, any rating, from cutesy G rated to the most hardcore, kinky sex imaginable. I'm hoping to do this at about 300 DPI, so it'll make nice prints, which I'd like to be able to have for sale.
That's the only catch really, Of course the commissioner would get a free print, the digital copy at full rez and size, and a downsized .jpg for online display.
The price will start at $50 US, but I'll give a quote before confirming the commission if it's going to be overly complex or time consuming or anything like that.
So, yes. Please contact me, either here, via note or email. If this goes well, I might set up a waiting list or commission list for large, detailed print pieces and stuff.
Oh, and if this doesn't sell, I'll probably just do a random piece based on a combination of ideas from people I'll annoy on IRC. or something.
* except the stuff I won't do, but that's a short list:
scat, mainstream religious imagery, paedophilia/cub, needles/injections, necrophilia...

icky sicky brokey bored
Posted 18 years agoIll, bored and broke.
I'd like to solve two of those by offering quick commissions - I'll knock $5 off a cg commission if it's nothing too tricky and it can be done today/tomorrow (I reckon I can handle 2 cgs) or $5-15 for a sketch, $5 for simple single character and such and $15 for crazy detail and shading. Lineart... depends.
But yeah... I NEED to do art, and I'm feeling uninspired, so need both ideas and cash.
Want?
