I'm not very active on this journal- sorry guys! I'm not very active on my DA journal either, but usually if I post to my DA I forget to post here. So fixing that problem today! XD;;


I've finished the "adult" version of  rolandscythe first commission, and I'm almost finished with the "clean" version. Then I just need to make some final color tweaks and they'll be ready! My hubby and I have a ton of cleaning to finish tonight for an apartment inspection tomorrow, so it will probably be finished Thursday or Friday... But we're almost there!

Next on the list is a second commission for  rolandscythe and then I have a few for  databank !

One problem of living under a tight budget is when your cat gets sick and requires a $150 vet visit there isn't much money to cover it. Especially since he might need a follow-up visit XP

I swear I'm still alive! Christmas and commissions burned me out, and during my art break I joined a gym. So from 9AM to 5PM I'm at work, and 5:30 PM to around 8PM I'm at the gym. By the time I get home and eat dinner, I'm not usually in the mood to finish anything XD;; I have a lot of half-started pieces and a TON of sketches, but nothing finished enough to post.

I'm also getting into wire wrapping and jewelry making, so that's taking up some of my spare time as well. Maybe I'll post some of my finish pieces when I finally get the chance to photograph them XD;;


Right now my main art goals are to (a) finally finish redesigning Fantasy's angel gown, (b) finally get a ref sheet of her overall redesign with all those stinking STRIPES, and © to finally get a finish colored portrait of the family done. <3

** I accept paypal, and money order/cash/check at the risk of the commissioner (IE: sending money via mail is not always the safest option).
** All of the prices below are assuming the commission contains one character. If you add other elements, such as extra characters or wanting a very large illustration, the price may go up.
** If what you're interested in isn't listed, please just send me a note with your inquiry; I do book binding, some leather work, and shrink art (just to name a few). You can see examples in my gallery.
** These prices are for both traditional and digital art; there is no up-charge for traditional media.

My husband just got laid off for the second time this year. *sighs* Not a good time for Electricians. Stupid economy. XP So after I finish Shush's commission batch, I'll be re-opening commissions. I might even do some sort of Christmas special- I'm not sure yet. Just wanted to put that note out there for people to keep in mind :3


On a happier note,  Hush-A-Bye just finished a beautiful artcard for me! I don't think she gets enough attention, especially since her artcards are always so well drawn and her artwork is adorable. Give her a look!

I don't usually post to this journal, because by the time I finish in DA and LJ I don't have time :-/ So for the first time, here is a REAL journal!

I was just married to  spacefurry last month on the 26th. It was wonderful! Hard to believe that I first met him on the MZDM boards back in 2002... And that we've come this far. The wedding was a time suck, but it turned out beautifully! I'm on my last commission slot (just 2 parts out of the 3 to go!), and I'm trying to decide if I will be opening commissions again right away, or if I'm going to take a break to do some Christmas art...

I want to thank everyone for the watches and favs- I've instantly felt welcome here! It's a nice community, and I'm glad I joined. :3

Now that Shadow's commission is finished, I'm moving onto Shush's commissions! I'm hoping to finish all three parts of his before my wedding on September 26th. Wish me luck!

Times are really tough right now, so some things must go! I WAS going to sell these to beef up my copic horde, but with car repairs and premarital counseling fees... I need this money for other things.

I have some Prismacolor markers for sale to a good home! They are all in good condition, have been gently used, and are a few years old. I tested them all out to make sure they were working before packaging them up.

Who knew a wedding was so expensive? *sarcasm* It will be the most expensive 6 hours of my LIFE. (That six hours including pre-wedding photos, prep time, actual wedding, and reception)


So I am currently taking commissions of all shapes and sizes! Need to fill up the budget-hole that is wedding planning.


When is payment due? Upon completion; hi-res digital file and hard copy (if applicable) will not be sent until payment is received. I accept paypal, and check/money order via mail at your own risk.
What do you need? Detailed information on your character(s) is required and reference images are preferred. If you do not have any reference images, then please allow me extra time for character design.
Is there anything you won't draw? I will do beef/cheesecake and tasteful nudes, but I will not draw sex/smut/ect. So please don't ask.
What happens after I commission you? Once the information is received, I will work out a rough sketch and send it your way. After feedback, I'll revise and send it again. This cycle will continue until you are happy with the sketch, to make sure you are as pleased with the image as I am! If you commissioned an inked or colored work, I will proceed onto the next step and continue to give you in-progress shots so you know where I am.
What if I want the original sent to me? If you want the original sent to you, shipping and handling charges will be applied to the base price. And of course, I'll need your address. =p I ship USPS 3 to 5 day, unless otherwise asked. I can and will ship FedEx or UPS on request. If you have an account number with UPS or FedEx, let me know and I'll ship on that and waive the shipping and handling fee.
What is available? Pretty much anything. Price will be done according to size and media, so please email me with your idea for a quote. My email is crikklekay (at) gmail (dot) com . I've done everything from chibis, to busts, to full portraits, to turn arounds, and I'm even open for bookbinding or leather pouch commissions. The media I work in are as follows: pencil, ink, colored pencil, marker, watercolors, soft pastels, and digital coloring/painting. How long will it take? I am not a fast-food artist. When doing commissions I like to take my time to make sure it turns out as beautiful and well crafted as possible. My chibi sketches usually take about a week to a week and a half, and larger commissions with full color could take up to 2 to 3 weeks. If you want a beaded leather pouch, please allow at least 3 to 4 weeks for completion and delivery.
Prices to be quoted? But how much do you normally charge? Chibi/bust sketches are usually $15, full-body sketch would be $20, a colored full-body portrait with no background would be in the realm of $25/$30 depending on media, and it goes on from there. Detailed backgrounds are $10 extra ("detailed" being a crowded cityscape, filled with buildings and people, etc.), and extra characters are $5 a piece. (Though if you have smaller characters/pets you want to include, I might add those for no extra cost, so please feel free to ask)
But I have a small budget! Will you work with me on price? Yes! No, you won't get the full-color with background portrait for $20, but we can figure out a compromise so you'll be happy and the price be right.
