General | Posted 17 years agoI'm going to be moving out on my own for the first time. It's exciting and I'm glad I have my love to move with, I couldn't imagine trying to do it by myself. I'll also finally have high speed internet, because this wireless shit sucks. I've only got 13 more days until I can be with my mate again <3

General | Posted 17 years agoMy scanner finally gave out...meaning no traditional art. I had one of those shitty Dell printer/scanner combos and the printer gave out a long time ago. A nice one will cost about $500 so not looking forward to it. Maybe i can beg one off my parents before i move. Which i don't think i've mentioned until just now. So ya i'm moving to the bay area so China town shopping for me. I really like the bakeries.What i need is gift cards for "wally world" XD i'm so excited to be living on my own. I want everything: my own iron, my own dishes, my own cooking utensils, everything. I'm collecting little by little. My parents offered to help me buy things as a going away gift but I don't think they'll hold up with the promise, since they already offered to get me a new mattress
Right now my energy is going towards painting and knitting scarfs and beanies for my college's art sale in December. I'll get my own booth supposedly, and will be able to sell my art. I honestly never imagined my art being in someone else's house. Even if it becomes bathroom art, i'm still excited. I have no idea how to price my art. My art is just feels like it has no value since i created it. I'm sure many artists feel that way.

General | Posted 17 years agoCalifornia is so fucked right now. I haven't seen the blue sky or the sun in a week. You don't know what you had until it's gone and I feel ashamed that I didn't enjoy the clear weather while i had it. I'm going to buy a sweet respirator/gas mask. Everyone looks like their from a movie about disease, they have face masks and such on. Being so close to the fires suck.
Justin's moving to his dorm tomorrow. I'm sad that he's leaving. But i hope i can use his experiences for some fun comics. It makes me feel better. He's going to be living with my crazy cousin, so that will be even funner, especially visiting.

General | Posted 17 years agoone of my ex artist friends from like junior high has started copying my art again...i'm not really sure how to express how i feel about this but i'll try.
she's a very good artist don't get me wrong, she watercolors wonderfully...but her subject matter....yeah....well most of it is fantasy stuff that was referenced on other work.
So i do this art noveau style of drawing hair. I don't claim that it's mine or anything i'm just saying i'm the only one in class that does it. I painted this picture of a blue skinned woman with rising wispy hair, that's colored in with purples and blues....3 days later, here she is drawing a woman with wispy rising hair and coloring it blue. She also used the salt technique she saw :keke-bell: using last year...again not saying that :keke-bell: owns the salt affect but she was one of the only students doing it at the time.
i'm kind of pissed but at the same time i'm flattered that my subject matter was interesting enough to want to copy. my teacher said "you're a trend setter if people are referencing your work". I'm kind of dissapointed in her...she's a great artist, can't she come up with her own material?
Maybe i shouldn't be talking, after all I am using a technique from Alphonse Mucha. Maybe she's just trying that style out, just like I'm trying the style out....that would make us one in the same.

General | Posted 17 years agoso the family friend found a bucket of goldfish that got left at the bar she works at and i found the largest fish bowl i could and snagged one.
he's quite fiesty...i want to name him but i'm bad at keeping fish and don't want to name him only for him to die. :(
does anyone have some good tips on goldfish keeping? i'm reading up on them but more info wouldn't hurt. I always seem to kill them when i change the water, even when i let it sit for two days...
my concerns are:
oxygen for fish
food (he hasn't eaten since i've got him...i offered him some a few hours ago but he wasn't interested. how long does it take for a fish to get comfy enough to eat?)
temperature (still kinda cold in the morning)
i guess if he's still alive in the morning, i'll get some fish flakes (i'm feeding crushed fish pellets)

Rachael gave me this sweet blue drafting pencil....hella looks cool, but i still draw too hard so if you see some blue in my work, you know what it's from.
also... I want to start gift art for keke-bell but it's late and i'm not sure when i can start it :( i work a lot of hours this weekend...so many ideas for pictures!

General | Posted 17 years agoi only get two days off a week. today is one of them and i was able to get a picture done. they work me like a dog even though i'm still in school and i've asked for a schedule change. I go to school at 6 in the morning, go to work at 2pm and get home by 10PM only to pass out on my bed. Hence the wanted schedule change.
all complaining aside, it's pay check week!
right now i'm dedicating myself to working with new things. I'm going to try to get back into watercoloring and even painting with acrylics as i have some canvases left. I'm not sure if my schedule will allow me much time to do these things but we'll see.

It's NOT okay to steal pictures off the internet or art from the friend your living with and submit them to a college in your portfolio.
A dear friend of mine is having trouble with a thieving roommate. She steals all her artistic ideas, and she's going as far as snooping through her art and tracing and telling everyone it's hers. Now for her portfolio, she's taken pictures that belong to my friend and claimed them as hers to other friends and even printed out a picture from a famous photographer (she claimed the girls in the pic were her friends) to send in.
When my friend confronted her about it, she just lied her ass off. To sum it all up: "i didn't want his picture to get bent and my photo album is ripped up so i have no where else to put it but in my portfolio which will be sent to college for review". Amazing. Also, her mother made excuses for her daughter. "well, she didn't have enough drawings of her own" WHAT the fuck.
My friend is deeply hurt. This was her good friend once and now she can't trust or respect her anymore.
Thank the lawds for hiding folders on the computer.
Also:
