Werewolf Transformation Scenes
General | Posted 6 years ago>While groundbreaking in its time, nobody had since touched werewolf transformation on that scale in 40 years – and it was time for innovation.

The article is referring to how "The Wolf Man" (1941) was regarded as the definitive werewolf transformation until 1980. For the past four decades, the practical SFX in "American Werewolf in London" and "The Howling" have achieved a similar status. Do you think it's time for similar innovation? If so, what sort of transformation would be a major breakthrough?

Ape Animation in "The Umbrella Academy"
General | Posted 6 years ago>Barbara Robertson, 05/13/2019
>Developed for Netflix . . . Dark Horse Entertainment’s superhero series "The Umbrella Academy" . . . features Dr. Pogo, a talking chimpanzee . . . . Weta Digital, known for its high-end feature film work, including the digital chimpanzees and other apes starring in the "Planet of the Apes" films, agreed to take on the television project . . . . Creature designer Miles Teves provided the first Dr. Pogo drawings and then collaborated with Weta Digital on details and modifications needed for a talking ape . . . . But because Dr. Pogo stands more upright than the apes Weta had previously created, modelers weren’t able to use typical ape anatomy . . . .

Character Design
General | Posted 6 years agoAccording to
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/h.....ticism-1207074
the character design for "Sonic the Hedgehog" was disliked for being too "realistic." What sort of balance between realism and "cartoonish dimensions" is best for a character?
What was wrong with the "realistic" Sonic?

August Films with Transformation Scenes
General | Posted 7 years agoAs noted at

Hollywood often views August as a dump month for films. Interestingly, many films with detailed transformation scenes were first released in August.
August 2009 - "District 9," TF into alien "prawn"
August 1996 - "The Island of Dr. Moreau," various beastmen
August 1990 - "The Witches," multiple TFs into rodents
August 1988 - "Nightmare on Elm Street 4," cockroach TF scene
August 1987 - "Monster Squad," wolfman TF scene
August 1986 - "The Fly," insect TF
August 1985 - "Teen Wolf," wolfman TF scene
August 1984 - "Dreamscape," snakeman TF scene
August 1981 - "An American Werewolf in London," werewolf TF scene
August 1977 - "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger," baboon TF curse
Can you think of any more?

Morphing in "Mowgli"
General | Posted 7 years agoI spotted this article online today.
What is the point in a morph in which you see "both" an animal and a human face?
Andy Serkis speaks about the “liberating tool” of performance capture and reveals all about his latest project Mowgli . . . . “I have a real problem with talking animals on film,” Serkis explains of his reason for using performance capture for this project. “If you took a real photorealist tiger and put a voice on it I would find it emotionally unbelievable” . . . . “If you imagine a timeline with, on one side, the actor’s face and on the other side you have a panther and the two sides morph to a point where you will see both panther and the human actor’s face. That for me was the fundamental way into the story” . . . .

"Beauty and the Beast" 2017
General | Posted 9 years agoSee http://www.cinemablend.com/news/162.....the-beast-clip
The video actually depicts a brief eye-centered morph. I imagine that it is part of a much longer transformation scene.
After uploading an eye morph recently, I'm trying to think of new things to upload later in February. Any suggestions?
