Hello you lovely lot!

Thought id do a new journal as the year is starting to progress, were booked for costumes until early 2018 but will be opening again July time for some new work again, got some really cool stuff to show you throughout 2017 I'm rather excited!

We have two conventions upcoming that we'll be dealing at, JFTW and CFz2017
Plans for both those con's are underway, ill have paws/tails/fursuit accessories for sale and well as two brand new Toony partials ready to wear and take home at the con! As well as that, there'll be prints, jewellery, trinkets, and ill be offering grab bags of claws and pawpaws for costume work.

Something different ill be doing this year, is offering costume repair and airbrushing at my table
I will have daily slots charged per half-hour or per job (say you have a loose neck on your costume, or need airbrushing on a face to bring some new refreshed life to an older or new costume!) Please come see me when the den opens at both events to book yourself a slot :)

In other news, my trainee is doing very well indeed and has become very proficient! We work very well together and I'm feeling confident for the years ahead, I look forward to this year and the future and hope that you're all enjoying the new work were producing here at FarukuCostumes! We'll see you all at cons this year, feel free to come say hello.

My backlog this year scared me a little, but I decided to take steps to solve it and have trained and hired an employee to start working with me within the coming months, this means orders taken in January will have completion dates from January-July 2018. A 30% non-refundable holding fee is required this month, but the rest can be split into payments if you choose from January all the way into winter.

Im very excited for the future here at Farukucostumes, its so motivational to have an office space and now someone to work beside, and shes doing an incredible job too! Heres to 2017, I hope you all had a wonderful new year :)

So after this week, I find that doing this is very important.

Im so very sorry, to all the people who are waiting on their costumes, my downfall is that I do have a waiting list/long wait time between 1-2 years and im working on making that smaller.
The reason, is tricky. It's actually never something I fully came out with as I was afraid and still trying to hold everything together 2014/2015 was difficult, my family is small and few and my immediate family was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I was in shock, and living away from home and in debt I fell into a very bad place, and only recently sought out help.

Im sorry for not informing people sooner, I was still working but not to the pace that I used to, I use to go out and escape the house and thoughts that I had and neglected my work. Every-time I came to do work I panicked, I never thought I was as good as I'd been (sorry, its very odd to describe!)

After I moved back home this year it was like someone lifted a stone off my chest, I got an office space with the help of you all and am very much on the mend, I feel like my old self but at the same time a brand new me. Im cracking through my queue now and trying to pick up the slack that the past year and a half has done, ive improved in my work and am getting better every month!

Im so humbled to have the support and customer base that I do, you've all been so wonderful and I cant thank you enough. If you have any concerns please dont hesitate to come straight to me, and ill do my best to help!

Here comes another journal about general updates!

Art:
I am getting through all owed art, I've started dividing my time in the day between artwork and fursuit work so that I can tackle the list slowly but surely! Im around 20% into it now, but with all of the list sketched out ready to line and some ready to colour :)

Fursuit:
This is the big thing that i've been struggling with, for the past few months ive been away a lot and honestly not very well, This year towards the end has been a very tough one with mental health issues and situations that I wouldn't like to get further into.
Moving house is going to give me a fresh look at things! But there's a catch, finding a house to live in over here is extremely difficult for any group of people over 2, new laws/legislation mean there's only a slim chance you wont end up living in a cheap run down house, which I cant honestly put a workshop in.
So I have just over a month to find a home and try get moved in, which is going to slow down work for a week or so, as packing up a whole workbase and life things is some hefty work!

As I said in the last journal though, if any customers have any concerns please contact me, im always here on the other end whether it sykpe, telegram, email, whastapp I dont want anyone to feel like im dropping off the planet!

Patches:
Im afraid im working on gathering a refund for everyone out there that ordered a patch from me, I cant apologies enough for this as I dont think my machine is up tot he task at the moment. Rest assured I will get refunds out, but ill also send the art files along so that you can keep them as icons etc.!

Hey all, I thought id make a proper post about my current state.

For a few months now my control has been slipping, I find myself every day battling some stress and dark thoughts, I will say that I think im pretty good at what I do work wise- my only downfall is my bad communication. And ill always be honest with you all!
70% Of my tools have gotten to the point where age and other circumstances have broken them, all my glue guns/clippers/laptop/tablet/machines are stuttering and dying and I unfortunately don't have the funds to fix all of these at once.

My biggest fear is letting people down, disappointing them, it always has been since I've been young. I do want everyone to know that I am trying my very best to battle through this backlog of costumes and work, I sit down everyday to do little bits and pieces and just get on with things, but the stress of keeping up with customers and previous emails is getting tough, Im trying currently to find a better system of communication to try solve this little problem!

I will be shutting down FA notes very soon, as they've never been a good way to communicate (no folders, half of them dont even go through etc,) And will be attempting to sort out my email (dump out spam, block off certain websites) because currently 10-12 emails a day is just swamping it, which leaves a lot of unanswered emails that I just don't know about.

Seriously its nearly the end of June! Where on earth is my summer going?!
Bit of an update journal to plan things out and let everyone know whats going on here as I feel its been a while since Ive done this properly. As always you can find the Trello's at the bottom of this page if you are a current customer, im planning to update it a minimum of once a week!

Art:
Anyone who has an art-based commission from me, do not fear! Ill be spending the next 2 weeks working on everything I owe non stop to get the que clear and your work out to you. The pre-CF badges are 4 away from being completed, and im 25% through the CF sketch/badge list. I haven't got many digital pieces left, but the ones I have Ive been working on them all at the same time so theyre all very close to being finished :)

Patches:
All the patch artwork is done! Im just waiting on a new shipment of Twill to cut up so that I can continue with them this week and get them done, expect photos soon. UPDATE 21/07 My Wacom is in repairs! This means half the artwork is on there, and will be back to me within a week so I cannot transfer it to the software.
To everyone who finds the wait too long, you may always contact me for a refund! I thought at first these patches would be quick, but my machine has broken down twice and I never found the perfect fabric for the patches at the start, only recently have I found a good fabric to work with that is producing patches at the quality level that im happy with. Im so very sorry for these delays, but Id rather give you the very best quality that I can offer!

Suits:
This week im repairing and adding to my resin base arsenal for all costumes coming up, sculpting goat/gryphon/dragon/canine/medium feline
And ill also be refurring a head ready for auction!
Then ill continue on with my trello list :)

So thats that, May/June has been exceptionally busy but ill be back into my groove in no time~

In other news, general updates!
In January Ill be concentrating on getting a good amount of bodysuit work done as I have been concentrating on heads for a while, I have Niyoh/sneechee/Kim to finish up January time and February will be the start of Dief/Panda/Taryn.

2015 is going to be my extreme catch up year, im going to go into high gear for the first few months as im sick of all these older suits hanging over my head! Id love to finally get a good chunk of progress to show my customers :)

Im going to be concentrating on a bit of con-prep in April time ready for CF, itll be mainly leatherwork, artwork prints, originals, Dragon eggs and other bits and pieces!

Its gonna be a busy year

MY GOD GUYS.

Its been over 2 weeks of house moving and lack of internet but my god im back and online, time to trudge through all the emails and find shipping details for everyone, thank you for being so patient guys! Its been really tough getting the move right and im still trying to find half the stuff I seem to have magically lost in the move?

Regardless, I have the toony base in silicone and have molded a new hinge set (since the other went walkabout) as well as the panda and Sneechee bases!

The fur and art are bagged, just need to be tagged and theyre ready to go :D

Dang I actually feel like im back into the thick of things, thank god!

The house move is going slower than I expected, getting a van hired while being under 25 is the trickiest thing I've ever done :| that being said, I'm hoping to be fully settled and unpacked by around Tuesday time, which means the stuff that you guys bought can be pulled out and packed ready to go next week!

On the 10th November Ill be kicked out of this flat due to it being the end of the contract, this means for the last month me and Taya have been running around attempting to find a new place to live, which for a bunch of sharers in the UK is a tricky thing to do.

Though we think we've finally found a place! We are now waiting on confirmation, my work for the past two weeks has been very slow due to being out doing house viewings, now that we possibly have a place its packing time. Im going to work up until the end of this month, after that it gives me a week to pack/hire van/move/set up in the new place :c

So its just an apology ahead of time, moving house is literally eating up all my time and Ill try post things out this week while im up North collecting the rest of my stuff. Thank you all for being so patient!

Sparklepupstudios loves both tony and realistic work, she has been in professional practice making costumes for the largest mascot firm in the UK and has had 3 years training in Character Creation. With industry work on film under her belt for titles including Guardians of the Galaxy and Game of Thrones, she is looking to branch more into self employment making the costumes she loves – fursuits!

Together we’ll be working on all the projects we get in; this means you get the combines knowledge and skills of both artists into your costume.

SO.

Ive been on for a while about how I need a helping hand, and now I may have not just that but more! Its not set in stone yet but I may have tayalu coming in to help out for a bit, this is fantastic news as shes an extremely talented individual who can bring new techniques and knowledge into this business, and hot damn im excited!

To all those who have current orders, there will be no change in ‘style’ to your commission, if me or taya do something in the time between now and when your commission starts- and you happen to like the look if it, you may let me know and we can see what we can do. But otherwise things will run the same way :) Quality and construction will continue to evolve over here at a much faster pace.

This does mean that I can now take on double the work!
Once this is all confirmed and me and Taya figure out the logistics of things, I may be opening up new slots or allowing others later in the que to get pushed forward, but I will send out emails to all individuals if this does happen.

Taya is a sculpting/casting genius, in fact I pester her more often than not for her knowledge on these things so im hoping to have some new stock to use for future commissions, eg: Antlers, new mask blanks, hooves, new claw types, horns etc. This week I have sculpted out the Otter and gryphon blanks, theyre currently sitting in the silicone ready for the next stage. Taya will be helping me out with these tricky antler molds sometime soon also~

To all those attending the con this year, Ill be holding a custom toony fursuit head raffle!

Im so very very excited to be doing this as it means everyone who enters gets a chance at winning a custom fursuit head for as little as £1

Had some discussions with the Confuzzled staff and sorted out the rules of holding an auction, any 'profits' of mine over a certain amount (anything that isnt 'cost') will be going to the charity :D

I will be having a few rules though guys!

- Tickets are sold at the event on the premises where the event is held (I cannot sell tickets online)

- The draw (winner announcement) must be made at the convention (Ill hopefully be doing thus Sunday evening)

- 20 tickets maximum per person

What im worried about, is if people get pissy if they dont end up being the winner. I can handle disappointed people, but I do trust that others wont get violent and stupid (especially at a con) at the end of the day, all you loose is £1.. Hey all!

So Ive been pondering for a while, I had my first 'weekend' off for weeks and it felt..so very nice and normal and when I came back to work on Monday I felt ...lighter? So much better for it, my morale had increased just by having a day or two out of a stressful/busy environment.

I've decided to work these in to my years schedule, I literally cannot go on any longer doing 7 days a week, this has been my life for 6 months and its becoming ridiculous, im starting to dislike work because of the hours and damage its doing to my body (the hours and lack of sleep are truly destroying me)

I hadn't 'overbooked' at all for this year (I'd say a costume and a half per month was very doable indeed) but because of a few from the last batch casing delays it has effected the first few months of this year. I have ponch, Fuzzi and Niyoh left to do from December, though I will also be starting Sneechee and Neko in February- ill be working on all costumes each week to slowly tackle each one. Im feeling positive that November/Decembers list will be completed just after (if not before) the end of February.

To those with deadlines (2014 batch) have no fear! I have booked your costumes 1 1/2 months in advance of your deadline (some even more) and am confident no 2014 deadlines will be effected at all :)

So...pretty much to conclude- Im going to be taking a day off per week to recoup and im only around 1 1/2 months behind at the moment! Slowly working that backup out of the way.
