Sex and Vore, by Tenka
Posted 8 years ago
tenka sent a note with this recently. With permission, reposting here because it's interesting. It just clicked that the likeness between sex and vore is that we can feel hunger for both eating and fucking. People like being wanted by the bodies of others, and deep innate ancient desires are sexier than ecologically conditional ones, "Screw the rules I need you!" vs "It would benefit both our families if we were together."
It's pleasant to feel needed, appreciated, special, (to someone's taste) and I think it's a lot easier to ignore the repercussions of your or someone else's decisions when your or their body hungers for those decisions.
Just like the way our bodies' hungers can cause us to feel justified in creating more life, our bodies' hungers can cause us to accept ending lives, even our own. I've meditated a lot on the connection between living and dying, I feel pretty confident that neither is inherently good or bad, and that if we want to justify ending or creating life we have to reach for answers outside of ourselves, but I digress...
Vore and sex are both activities with biologically explainable reasons for wanting, those reasons may be many and are different for everyone, but I think fetishists on both sides can usually agree that it's appealing for someone else's body to want yours (or vice versa) regardless of their higher reasoning.
Feelings are fun to discuss, but let's all remember that we can't rationalize action with just our own feelings, at least not when it would effect anyone else. That's why fantasy is King, everything can be morally equal when we're pretending.
And yes I've just likened fatal vore fantasies to pregnancy fantasies, condoms are the vanilla sex crowd's soft vore!

We were contacted, asking if we'd be okay plugging a vore project someone in the community is doing. We don't mind helping out with community projects, so here's a link if anyone's interested.

The "Talk about fatal vore" journal
Posted 10 years agoOn the suggestion of
kanevex, we're throwing this journal up as a forum for people to talk about fatal vore. Just, like, whatever you want to talk about: Interests, experiences in the community, all that stuff. We do request that you keep RPs and RP requests out of the journal, though, since they can take up a huge amount of space and bury other discussions that may occur.
Who knows: Maybe a topic talked about here will be the subject of a future journal in this group?
So yeah. Have at it, Hoss. :)

samanthaweltzin"Are they gonna be okay?"
Posted 10 years agoThis is a phrase that I've seen a lot on ambiguous-ending vore pictures, and it took a while for me to put into words specifically why it bothers me. It shouldn't. It's a very innocuous thing to ask. But it does, and a friend of mine and I had a conversation about specifically why it's an issue.
Let's put it this way: You don't ask if, after someone ate a sandwich, the sandwich is going to be okay or if the sandwich is going to reform. It's assumed that if you eat food, that food is digested. That's what food is for.
So the default is "No." No, they don't get out unless, and here's the important part, unless otherwise noted. If you see that the artist or writer explicitly states in the description that 1) They don't like digestion or 2) This particular picture is non-fatal, then it's reasonable to assume that it doesn't apply.
But of course, that assumption isn't really the issue here. You can assume that the default is non-fatal unless specifically designated fatal if you'd like. No one's stopping your initial reaction. The issue is the lack of imagination it takes to need that kind of confirmation directly from the content creator, and the burden it puts on other people's preferences who may read the content creator's reply.
The beauty of an ambiguous-ending vore picture is that both fatal and non-fatal vore lovers can enjoy it without stepping on each other's toes. What asking for confirmation of one side or the other does is lock out the entire other side. If the artist says, "It's fatal," then the non-fatal people are locked out, and vice-versa. Instead of doing that, just use your imagination.
There's a really fantastic artist,
nummynumz, who does exclusively non-fatal stuff, but a lot of it looks pretty ambiguous, so I just ignore that preference in my imagination. Never say a word to the artist.
If I can extend that courtesy to someone whose preferences are clearly stated to be something that bothers me, I feel that anybody can extend the same courtesy to other artists.
The reason I bring this up here is because I've never seen a person into fatal vore ask on an ambiguous-ending vore piece whether the prey was digested or not. It seems to be exclusively a non-fatal hangup.
SO. Solutions. Otherwise this is just a gripe journal.
1) Don't be a dick if you see this. Yes, feel free to call them out on it, but don't tell them they're jerks or anything, or they're gonna get defensive, and congrats, you've just started furry drama. Instead, just bring up the consequences of asking the question and suggest they just use their imagination to change it to whatever they prefer. It's fantasy; imagination is the point.
2) If they get defensive anyway, back off a bit and say, "Sorry. Just telling you what it looks like to me when people do this" or something along those lines. Make it about you, not about them. Chances are, if they're asking the question in the first place, they're probably insecure to begin with, so pushing the issue isn't going to help any.
3) If you're the content creator, do what
foshu does and just answer ambiguously. "I dunno!" or "Maybe!"
4) I dunno. Send 'em a link to this journal? Maybe that's not the best idea. The first two should be sufficient guidelines, I imagine. :P

Posted 11 years agoAnd without saying a thing on our main accounts. I guess the subject is strong enough on its own without popularity playing a role, which is pretty awesome.
Looking at the types of people watching this account since it started, I think we've achieved our goal of being inclusive. A whole bunch of the folks who joined are people I've never even heard of, or who inhabit totally different circles than me. Just goes to show there are a ton of different nuances to even this side of vore. People are crazy-different, and that's pretty awesome.
So thanks for those who've already joined, and welcome to those who have not yet as of the writing of this journal!

samanthaweltzinWhy does this group exist?
Posted 11 years agoGiven the specific nature of a niche part of a niche fetish, it may seem kind of strange to dedicate a FurAffinity group to it.
That said, the founders of this group encountered a trend wherein some users come across fatal vore material and raise a stink about it, often calling those who create it bad people or sick in the head. We're not, of course. Not more than anyone from any other walk of life. Pretty much the same kinds of demographics as everywhere else.
Now, this isn't a huge problem. It only happens now and then, and even when it does happen, it's often just trolls looking to get a rise out of people. However, when it does happen and the person is genuine, we would like this page to be a resource to point to for anyone who feels like they may need a hand in dealing with these kinds of situations. Over time,
samanthaweltzin, and possibly the other admins, will post journals describing their experiences and how they've handled situations, as well as what seems to work often and what seems not to work. Likewise, you might see some submissions, humorous or otherwise, about various situations involving fatal vore's reception. Or not. Depends on motivation. XD
Barring the whole "dealing with complainers" dynamic, of course, this group is also meant to just be able to identify each other at a glance, whether you're looking for people of like minds or of like interests. Sort of a quick hint at what your gallery contains for anyone interested.
The group could also go around favoriting choice pieces of fatal vore, but...ugh. There's just so much out there, it'd be a major pain.
Anyway, that's the basic rundown of what this group's here for. If you've got suggestions, feel free to comment on this journal or drop a PM.
