Comms Closed For Now & My First Artist Alley Spot!

I don't know if I mentioned it here but I last month I got accepted for my very first convention artist alley booth! I am super stoked and I've been busy looking for equipment and going through my works to print. Because of the latter, I have been very busy (alongside with a boardgame project I'm working on as an artist). I've had an influx of commissions recently which I am super grateful, but due to time constraints of having to whip out a whole inventory of stickers, charms, prints and so much more, I have to focus on those for now. I will be letting you guys know when I get my print situation sorted and I'll re-open the comms when that happens :) Because of this I won't bee as active during ArtFight as last year, though I will still try to get a couple of pieces in (It was super fun last year)!

I will be taking 2-3 commissions for next month, and I'm also introducing a new commission form for you! The commissions will be in first come first serve order but in case there are a lot of different tier pieces, I will hold the right to queue them in an order which best fits my schedule at school and my other projects.

New Year, New Commissions (And Info Regarding them)!

Happy new year! It's been long time since I last posted a journal here.
This year I'm trying something crazy that I didn't think I would ever do: I'm starting my own business. What business, you might ask? Well for some of you it's nothing new compared to the things I've already been doing, but just more official. As of today, I'm starting my own official company here in Finland where I will be trying to make art and design projects for you and for game companies full time. It also means I will have to rework my pricing as I will be having to pay for VATs in the future. Therefore, I will update my commission form/sheet to reflect the changes and the prices will include VAT automatically as is tradition in Europe.
It might take a week or two to get things rolling, but if you've been looking to maybe get some pieces done by me, feel free to send me a message even if I haven't solidified the new system quite yet :) If you are a customer that has already commissioned art from me before 2025, nothing will change with the already laid down pricing or work.

I've managed to overcome the crazy busy spring and am now moving to a new apartment next week. I have had lots of things happen, and want to give a little update on the current state of things! During the spring I hit my first 100 watchers and wanted to give out a free commission as a reward to one of my watchers (continue reading for more info)!

Home Cauldron Chapter 2
Next about the state of my first webcomic! First of all I am very happy that I've received positive comments and people have liked my work thus far, thank you so much! I was planning on creating pages for the chapter 2 of Home Cauldron during the spring so that I would be able to release them right after the first chapter had ended. However, due to life being life, I am a bit behind on the schedule, so Home Cauldron will have a break for a couple of weeks (think of it as a summer break!). Home Cauldron Chapter 2 will return shortly after I've managed to get my page buffer going again :) Sorry for the inconvenience!
RAFFLE TIME!
Now the exciting part! I will host an art raffle this month celebrating my first 100 watchers on FA! This is your chance for a free little giveaway if you like my work so read closely!

I just broke 100 watchers! (Future art raffle notice)

Exciting day! I finally broke 100 watchers and I'm super elated, thank you all for your support <3 I was planning on holding a little raffle when I would break 100 watchers, but I am awfully busy with school stuff atm so unfortunately I wouldn't have time to work on it right now. However, I will hold a raffle at some point in the near future to celebrate this moment when I'm not being completely obliterated by homework. So stay tuned for that!

My Very First Webcomic!

I'm so excited to finally share with you some work that I begun last year! I started writing a fantasy novel as a hobby and worldbuilding exercises and I fell in love with writing. I created a more compact first story in my world as I didn't want to fully commit to the full grand fantasy saga as my first work and thus I wrote this story about a witch named Mirabel! A tale about a young witch who moves out on her own for the first time and tries to find herself on her newly begun adulthood. What she does not realize however is that her life would not be as she intended it to be.
I hope you will like the story as much as I love writing and drawing it :) My first pages are a bit rough around the edges (I made them last fall) but I guess it's part of the charm to see the improvement happen over time. I will be aiming to schedule new pages for every Thursday, and I have the whole first chapter queued to be released. I will try to keep this pace up, but if I can't make every week, I won't lose my sleep over it (I do intend on finishing the story!).

Holiday raffle commissions!

I held a raffle for free holiday commissions on Reddit, and chose three lucky winners for whom I've been working to get comms done. I just finished the first headshot (should be up in a couple of hours) and working on a sheet next. So much fun working on comms after some time and sharing some holiday spirit while at it.
Anyways I'll be opening more slots so if you're interested hit me with a DM!

I recently got my first BIG commission and I have to say I was super excited - weeeeell until I got scammed of my time... You see, I do as many other artists do (I persume), with large commissions that I require partial payment before I commit a large portion of time to lineart, coloring and shading. So I had this client who ordered a two page comic which I was really excited about. I'm planning on releasing my first comic chapter later this fall (stay tuned!) and I thought to myself that this is the perfect practice for it. But as I spent a week on the sketches and enhancing the sketches to provide a better product for my client and a faster work process with lineart, the sad thing happened.
The client repeatedly tried to convince me to only pay for my work when the whole piece (2 pages and 14 panels worth of illustrations) is done. Some of you might think that "Well Faux, why would you just not oblige if its a big payday in the end?" and I would answer "You silly sausage, I would just spend weeks of worktime in the hopes that I get paid". I've learned that if people are actually willing to put money into something, they likely are confident enough to spend a portion of the money beforehand. At least that's how I view things (feel free to disagree). So basically the week I spent on the comm was wasted in my part which saddens me but at least I didn't commit my time even more to ultimately not get paid. So there's the lesson!
On another news, my commissions are opening as soon as I get one of my personal illustrations done and a proper price ref sheet. So if you're interested, please let me know!
