Using my IMVU designs for personal fursonas
Posted 5 years agoI have created a lot of designs that people can buy the right to wear on IMVU. But buying a product on IMVU is not buying the design itself. It is just the right to wear it on IMVU.
Many people like a design on IMVU so much they want to make it into their fursona. I am okay with people doing this with my designs but there are some strings attached.
First, if you are using a design that is publicly available in my catalog you have to understand that you are most likely not the only person who bought it. And so I ask people not to accuse other people using my same design of being a design thief (assuming they are also doing what I say next).
And secondly, I ask to be credited for the design. If you have done small changes to the design (for example, by changing the ear shape or adding scars) you can credit me for the design and say that you made some minor modifications.
Those are the only things I ask. Don't treat other people badly and give credit where it is due.

Wooly Raptor Species Information
Posted 9 years agoLast updated: 9/30/2018
Roleplay Information:
This section is the most under construction.
Roleplaying with this species is not necessary, one can use them as just a character without the specific species background, but the species does have this backstory:
Race: Kqwaoli (adjective: Kqwaol) Slang: Wooly Raptors
Homeplanet: Mrrmur
Native Language: Kqwur - includes various sounds that can be equated to the murrs and chatter of cats (excluding meows), the chuffs of tigers, and (some might say) some almost-birdlike sounds. The language is mostly sounds formed in the throat or through inhales and exhales with very few lip movements.
They are an alien species that are smart enough to have reached space travel.
They are relatively peaceful and have not been a part of any major wars in space.
They make a clear distinction between being peaceful and being passive. They do not allow themselves to be pushed around by the other races in the universe and are known to be very capable fighters.
Their home planet has very little when it comes to seasons, making it a relatively even temperature year round.
This provides them with lots of fruit, vegetables, and other foods which have become their main exports into space.
Fur colour and length is tied to where their ancestors were from. With the equator ancestry giving shorter fur that tends more towards browns/tans, and the poles causing longer fur with more grey/black colour. Among the accent colours, blue is more common from colder regions and pink from more tropical. However, due to migration and mixing with each other from travel as they became a more evolved race, this is not an accurate indicator of where one grew up.
They usually do not cook their food, preferring to eat it raw, or dried if traveling, as such they have very little concept of traditional dishes or prepared meals. They find the practice of mixing foods together and cooking them to be strange and unnecessary, some even consider it 'ruining good food'.
Their minimalist and mostly agricultural way of life makes them not very known making materials, fine machinery, or computers.
Those who study metallurgy or engineering do so using apprenticeships, and apprenticeships are hard to get, making those who learn the trade to be uncommon and held in high regard among their race.
They pick up fighting techniques quickly and their innate physical strength coupled with the advanced armour and weaponry of other races, makes them a feared opponent.
Physiology and Anatomy
Classifications: Oxygen-breathers, Endoskeleton, Carbon-based
Physical Appearance: Average size - 6.5 feet (198 cm). Long, Blunt, squared nose with two nostrils. Two slit-pupil eyes set on the sides of the head. Sharp teeth that sometimes protrude up from the lower jaw past the upper lip (more common with males). Long powerful tail. Short ears that mostly blend into the surrounding fur. Furred bodies with scaled patches on the lower limbs and digits. A mane of longer fur covers much of their head and all of their neck and spine onto the top of the tail with a break before reappearing on the tip of the tail. Human-like hands with sharp claws on the ends. Digitigrade legs with five toes. The innermost toe has a large hooked claw. Comes in a large variety of colours with each individual (except on very rare occasions) having at least one colour that is a variant from the general theme of mammal-type colours (which are browns and greys).
Senses: A very powerful sense of sight, easily noticing small details. A good sense of smell. But their hearing is not as great due to all the fur surrounding the ears.
Sexes: Two - defined as Male and Female. Only minor gender-dimorphism, including tendency to have longer lower fangs on males and larger hook claws on females.
Reproduction: Females produce ovum once a year for their mating season. When fertilized through intercourse, this grow into a leathery egg inside the female until it is laid. The egg is kept warm and safe by the female. The young, born with open eyes and ready to run around, will then be reared by either just the female or both parents. An egg will not form unless fertilized and instead the ovum will be reabsorbed by the female’s body at the end of the mating period. Intercourse is not restricted to mating season and is done recreationally year round.
Diet: Meat and fleshy fruit. Raw or dried.
Average lifespan: 115 years. Adulthood is reached at around 20 years
Interbreeding: No known compatibilities
Culture
Names: They use a first and last name system for naming. First names are diverse as the species has picked up names from other races they encountered as well as often invent names. Last names are usually some form of adjective+noun or noun+noun combination. Examples: Coldspot, Whitemane, Rockcloud, Dawnflower, etc. When speaking a language other than Kqwur they translate their last names. A child takes on the last name of one of it's parents (usually it is whatever name has the most honour and history attached to it) or a combination of both names. Examples: Coldspot+Rockcloud= Coldcloud or Rockspot. A last name that has been passed down through multiple generations until it obtains a reputation is referred to as a legacy name. A legacy name can be forcefully taken from an individual if the community feels they have dishonored it in some way. The process is done through a hearing where the individual can try and defend themselves. If a major crime has been committed they might even be assigned a new last name showing their dishonour, this can even happen to individuals with non-legacy names. One who has not been given a dishonorable name can always change their last name whenever they wish, either to their other parent’s last name or to a newly formed last name with Legacy names obviously being off limits. Some might even abandon having a last name entirely. Children abandoned as eggs (no parents) can either create their own last name or live without one. Some individuals will go by just their last name instead of their first name. This is more common as they gain honor and rank or if they have a legacy name. If they are not the only one with that last name (as can happen with Legacy names), their rank or career will usually take the place of their first name. (example: two Rockclouds could go by Counsellor Rockcloud [high rank] and Elder Rockcloud [high honor from age])
Government: Elections are held to name Counsellors to represent different regions on the planet who are the group in charge of the Federalized government. There are some minor elections in the various regions to elect officials that handle more regional affairs.
Philosophies: As a people, they avoid conflict when they can, preferring peace over fighting. However, they uphold a clear distinction between peaceful and spineless which means they will not hesitate to fight to defend themselves if they feel the need. Individual ideals about peace and fighting vary by region. However, there has been a recent rise in a faction with interests in higher war technologies and near-aggressive defense of borders. This faction will likely soon split off into a splinter nation once they find a solar system they can colonize. If a new planet is not found soon enough some worry that a civil war may break out between the two ideologies.
Main Export: Fruit and other native edibles
Clothing: They prefer to wear the minimals of clothing or none at all when they can, allowing their fur to create all the modesty they need. One’s who still live on the planet might wear a sandal-type shoe if they do a lot of overland foot travel.
Racial Relations: Many other races view them as less civilized or sophisticated because the way they avoid cooking and clothing. However, they are still held in high regard in terms of their close-combat fighting abilities and the food grown on their native planet is highly sought after. Sometimes other races view them as weak because of their tendency to shy away from conflicts. They tend to stay aloof from other races and don’t really see them as good or bad. They are rare to be seen in mixed crews, especially ones under a captain of another race. The slang term of Wooly Raptors came when they encountered humans. They reminded humans of extinct species from their homeworld, mainly the dinosaurs called raptors and a few extinct mammals from their Ice Age era. Humans mixed the species they were reminded of together to create the nickname. The Kqwaoli did not find any offense in the term and it became adopted as an acceptable and easier to pronounce way to refer to them by any species, although it is still mainly used by humans.
Mating: Similar to humans, mating habits can vary between individuals. some stay together for life, some change partners every mating season, some constantly go from partner to partner multiple times a year. All of these habits are considered acceptable by their culture. Individuals in higher ranks or with higher honor in their society are more likely to stay with one partner for longer periods of time.
Other variations from Official canon and "furry-friendly" versions:
-Female Kqwaoli do not have breasts or nipples in the official universe for them since they do not product milk, however it is acceptable for non-roleplay/non-canonical characters to have such
-Even though they have bright colours canonically, canonical markings should follow natural patterns. Markings that are lacy or form shapes such as hearts or other symbols would be non-canon.
-Canonical Kquaoli do not have belly buttons but "furry-friendly" versions are allowed to have them.
Species is currently Closed as it is still being worked on
I am open to feedback, so if you have a suggestion, let me know.
If you would like to design your own you may message me with your design idea and we can work it out.
Appearance:
Reptilesque head shape similar to a dragon or lizard but with noses more more blunt and squared than pointed
Digitigrade feet with 4 toes and a large hook claw on the inside-most toe
Fully furred with the exception of scales on the lower arms, legs under the ankle, fingers, and toes
Longer fur mane goes from the top of the head, around the neck, down the back, and onto the top and partially along the tail
Longer fur at the body end of the tail and at the tip of the tail.
Longer fur on the elbows
Slit-pupil eyes
At least one “unnatural” variant colour (so other than creams/browns/greys/etc)
The mane and tip of the tail must be the same colour.
While usually manes are a solid colour, they can have more than one colour as long as both colours are present in both the mane-to-tail section and the tip of the tail.
Medium length tongue that is pointed.
Sharp teeth good for tearing flesh
Very small ears that are non/barely-distinguishable from the surrounding mane of fur
Acceptable variations:
More sections or areas with longer fur (eg back of legs/arms, hips, etc)
Lack of longer fur on the elbows and around body end of tail where not covered by the mane.
Fur on the arms and legs that is long enough to cover the scales entirely, as long as scales are still there underneath
Longer fur that gives the appearance of facial hair or a happy trail
Basically any variations on fur lengths as long as the main/fur on the end of the tail is longer than the fur on the main body
Mane covering more of the body, face, or tail.
Size differences on the scales (larger/smaller, covering more skin or less)
Tusk teeth that come up from the lower jaw (no more than three sets)
Teeth from the upper jaw that protrude slightly out from under the lips.
Pawpads on the feet or hands
Very rarely, lacking the variant colour (special exceptions only)
Variation in claw sizes (including the hook claw)
Fur styling such as braids, beads, cuts, etc
Growing a fluffier, thicker coat with exposure to colder climates and losing fluff when exposed to a warmer climate. (but with limited effects)
Genetic conditions such as albinism, dwarfism, melanism, chimeric, Polycoria, Corectopia, etc, with appropriate accuracy to the condition in physical appearance and rareness
Body modifications
Not acceptable variations:
Large or clearly visible ears
Horns/spikes
Wings
Feathers
Scales on any other part of the body
Webbed fingers or toes
Acid spit or anything like that
Extra limbs/features
Any other type of nose/head
Any other type of feet
Bioluminescence (glowing)
Changing or shifting colours (including seasonal coats)
Rainbow gradients markings (gradient colours are okay, and using the full spectrum when done tastefully is okay)
Teeth from the upper jaw that protrude far from the lips (saber fangs)
Additional information:
They eat mostly meat and fruit, and avoid eating nuts or vegetables.
Their tails are very strong, which makes them powerful swimmers, as well as allowing them to give those that annoy them a painful tail smack.
Having very short ears and fur around them means their hearing is their lowest sense.
They have amazing eyesight and an above average sense of smell
Despite being called raptors and laying eggs they are more similar to mammals than reptiles.
They are warm blooded.

IMVU and Art Theft Clarification Journal
Posted 10 years agoI am seeing a LOT of misinformation being spread around so here is a few points I would like to make clear.
-DMCAs do not cost money to file.
-You do not have to have a lawyer to file a DMCA.
-You do not have to have an IMVU account to file a DMCA.
-You do not have to have your copyright registered to file a DMCA.
-Yes, I have filed DMCAs against things on IMVU and yes, the products did get removed.
-It took me less than an hour to write up the DMCAs, it took less than 24 hours to get a response and be notified that the products were removed. It cost me absolutely no amount of money.
-You do not have to pay money to have an IMVU account.
-Theft on IMVU is done by individual users, not IMVU.
-IMVU will remove anything that you file a DMCA against.
-IMVU can not be held responsible for content submitted by 3rd parties.
-IMVU DOES have a furry community.
-There are original and talented artists on IMVU.
-Just because you may not personally like IMVU, does not mean that it doesn't have furries.
-Asking that IMVU gives every artist on FA a free AP account on IMVU is ridiculous.
-IMVU has a large userbase of younger members, they can not risk younger member being able to access content they should not be able to access.
-Art theft has been happening on IMVU for a long time. Just like art theft happens on Second Life, e621, facebook, and every other website that allows people to upload their own images.
-There has not and will not be an increase of art theft because of IMVU buying furaffinity.
-I predict art theft on IMVU will decrease as the artists on Furaffinity are finally paying attention to IMVU.
-Leaving FA will not make people less likely to steal your work, thieves will be thieves, they aren't going to care what site you use.
-If you want help filing a DMCA, you can contact me privately and I will be more than willing to help.
-If you want help viewing things that are restricted content on IMVU, there are many IMVU users who would be more than willing to help out by providing screencaps and product ID numbers.
If there is anything else someone has said and you want to know whether or not is is true (such as things about VIP or AP on IMVU, etc) feel free to ask me and I will address those points as well.
You are also free to link this journal to anyone who is looking for information.
I am a long-term user of both FA and IMVU. On IMVU I am a content creator who specializes in furry stuff.
Added a FAQ:
-What is IMVU?
A 3D chat program where people can buy clothing to dress up an avatar or decorate virtual rooms.
-Do these people make money off this stolen art?
I will say yes because they get IMVU currency, but these type of art thieves probably do not make enough to turn IMVU currency into real money.
-Can't I just flag it as stolen?
Unfortunately no, a DMCA is the only way to get them removed
-Will that cost me money?
Nope.
-Will I need a lawyer?
Nope.
-Do I have to have my copyright registered?
Nope.

-What? My real life name and information? Is this safe?
Yes, it is safe, the DMCAs go to a lawyer who has the products removed from the catalog. Your personal information will not be shared with anyone, not even the person you are filing the DMCA against.
-I am the commissioner for the art and the artist doesn't care about the art theft, but it's my characters and I care, what do I do?
You get the artists to give you the okay to file a DMCA on their behalf. Then you use the second mandatory statement from the example DMCA.

Reminder for people
Posted 11 years agoIf you ever see art of my character or anyone claiming to be me or one of my characters on any site, please message me. Do not message them or approach them about it. Come talk to me first. If you saw them claiming to me me or claiming ownership of a character of mine, remember to screencap any evidence of them saying so.
Even if it is a site you know I use (such as IMVU) that does not mean they are not an impostor.
I would just really appreciate it.
If it is me, I will let you know and ease your mind. If it is not me, I will figure out how to handle it.
Note: I am not currently aware of any impostors, but just felt like putting out there how the situation should be handled if it arises.

To anyone who has ever got art or adoptables from me!
Posted 11 years agoWhen I draw something for another person it is exactly that, it is theirs, this means that you are fully free to re-upload art as you now own it.
When I sell an adoptable you are buying the design, I am not one of those people who argues that they should still have copyright over a design they sold. You are also free to re-upload the adoptable into your gallery as well.
I like seeing my art re-uploaded into your galleries because it makes me feel like my work was worthy. (as long as it is just the gallery of the person who bought it or has characters in it and not just some random bloke stealing the image)
I have seen some artists lately who say that they retain all copyright and control over all the work they do (even commissions and pieces they sold), I am not one of those artists.
When I sell an adoptable you are buying the design, I am not one of those people who argues that they should still have copyright over a design they sold. You are also free to re-upload the adoptable into your gallery as well.

I made a free derive group on imvu!
Posted 12 years agoI made a group for free furry derives!
http://www.imvu.com/groups/group/Fr.....Furry+Derives/
Any devs with furry meshes can offer free derives and any devs who make furries can get them!
Anyone can join and everyone is welcome!
There is also currently a contest to make the group image!
(Winner gets 10k, 2nd place gets 8k, 3rd place gets 5k)
I have my free derive thread open and so does kaybi!
Share this around please! I made this group to help struggling furry devs (both those who need derives and those who can't afford to dev), so the more people who know about it, the better!

IMVU and Second Life
Posted 12 years agoPeople who prefer Second life over IMVU are like vegetarians (the self righteous kind. no offense meant to any vegetarians out there).
And what I mean by this is, if IMVU is brought up, they express their opinions whether it was asked for them or not.
Much like how many vegetarians will bring up the fact that they are vegetarian at even the vague mention of meat.
If someone posts a screencap from IMVU (or something else IMVU related), there will always be that one person who has to comment "Second life is better" "IMVU sucks" "IMVU is just a bad copy of Second life" or something else along those lines.
I'm going to say a few things...
1. No one asked if you preferred SL over IMVU
2. No one cares if you prefer SL over IMVU.
3. In fact, no one brought up SL at all.
4. You are not special for preferring SL.
5. It does not make you 'cool' to bash on things that don't match your taste.
6. In fact, you just look like a douche when you do that.
7. Yes, you are entitled to have opinions, that does not mean you should shove them in people's faces.
8. Opinions are opinions. Not facts. Remember this. "good" "better" "nicer" are, for the most part, opinions.
9. Wrap your head around this: people are allowed to have opinions that disagree with yours. *gasp!*
Now disclaimer:
While I have yet to see an IMVU user do this same thing about SL, I fully acknowledge that it probably does happen.
It is just in my experience that I almost always see the SL people behaving this way.
