asking for commission work to help pay phone bill
Posted 6 years agohey guys, sorry it's been so long since my last update. i've moved to virginia and i've been here since early august. i've been trying to find a job since i've arrived but haven't had a lot of luck yet. i received some (hopefully) interest just this morning, so i hope that plays out well.
i've been paying my phone bill late for the better part of six months and last month i wasn't able to pay it until after my service was shut off. i was able to secure a payment arrangement for what remained of my bill but it's gone up significantly due to late fees and service restoration charges.
the total comes to about $212.44 and i need $116 of that within the next 48 hours in order to avoid another shut off. considering the interest i received today regarding an application for a job a shut off right now would suck. i need to be able to be contacted by potential employers.
i'm offering commissions, as always, even if they won't be finished until a later date (once i secure a job and have time to draw) and i'm also accepting donations via paypal.
please spread the word, any help is appreciated.

A couple days after I posted my last journal, my father passed away. He had been sick for a really long time and he did very little to help himself get better. He had been an alcoholic for my entire life and even as his health continued to rapidly decline, he refused to try and stop or even slow down his reckless lifestyle. He took his last breath in our living room on June 12th and despite desperate efforts from myself and the EMTs, his body finally said no more.
The stability of my living situation has been dependent on my father since I moved in with him back in 2016. For the past 20 years he's lived in this house which belongs to my uncle (his brother). I'm not going to sugar coat things, my dad was a mooch. He did very little to provide my uncle with anything of equal monetary value that would be fair for him to stay in the home for the past two decades. It is only because he was uncle's brother that my uncle tolerated his behavior for so long. When I came into the picture a few years ago, I began to pay rent and pay the cable bill, and it was my assumption that the money I'd been giving to my dad was going to my uncle. A lot of things came to the surface once my dad died and was no longer able to conceal them; the fact that my uncle never received a penny of what I'd been giving my father was only one of many of those things.
I'm a single mother. It took almost two years in and out of mediations, counselings and court rooms for me to win full custody of my son and less than three months after this ruling, my son's father decided he no longer wanted to see him. Despite my continued efforts for almost a year now, I have yet to see a cent of any child support from him. This is a separate issue, but I'm just trying to outline the fact that I have no income from any source at the moment apart from my art and this is why I'm so desperately seeking commissions - and something I've never asked for until now - donations.
My uncle is selling the home I'm in, which he has every right to do. He had been given the run around for so many years from my dad, I don't blame him for being at the end of his rope. He's been very kind to me, allowing me to stay until the end of the summer, but after that, I have nowhere to go. My father was the last of my family, I am effectively very alone right now in terms of where to go from here and have no one that I can ask for help. If this was just about me, I wouldn't be as scared as I am, but it's not about just me. I'm terrified for how I'm going to provide for my son and my cat.
When my dad started getting really sick, he needed constant care. He couldn't be left alone and when he was, he would fall and hurt himself, soil himself, drink far too much, etc. I had to quit my job. At the same time, our only means of transportation was his truck (that my grandmother bought him), but when he became ill it was taken back and resold to cover his medical bills and prescription costs. I have applied for jobs close to me, within walking distance or within a reasonable distance via public transportation but nothing I could get in the area I'm in would come even a little bit close to being able to afford this entire home by myself. Not to mention, I couldn't afford that as well as child care costs, even if I did come across a decent wage. Unfortunately, however, I haven't received any calls by the places I've applied to anyway.
I was unable to pay my phone bill for the past two months. My service provider has cut off my service and I'm only able to use the phone if it's connected to wifi at this point. I don't have wifi, though (I am presently using a friend's wifi, but I will be returning home in TWO days). I rely on my phone's hotspot for everything related to the internet. So if I can't pay my phone bill, I can't make any money (if I managed to get some stable commission work, that is). And if I can't make any money, I can't pay my phone bill. Or any bills. Or save up to try and afford an apartment. Or afford cat food. Or make sure my son has everything he needs. It's a vicious cycle and I can't get out on my own. I REALLY need help. I'm reaching out to
falendahand after I post this journal and I'm going to try to advertise as much as possible (so please forgive me if I bother you with repeating posts, but I have no other options at this time).
As stated before, I am open for commissions. Anything. Sketches, line art, painted work, headshots, chibi stuff, tattoo designs, pinups, reference sheets, original designs, fanart.. anything. Below I'm posting ychs that I've had up for a while as well as my paypal email for anyone that's willing and able to donate anything. Everything counts, even if it's just a dollar. I will be keeping track of everyone that's able to give anything and once I'm on my feet, everyone that was able to help will receive a little something from me. So if you do donate, any amount at all, please note me with a picture of a character you'd like some form of art of in the future.
My phone bill is presently a whopping $464.16. $170.85 is due by July 23rd. $293.32 is due immediately and needed to turn my service back on. Late fees and return service fees added a lot to this sum. :/ If anyone willing to donate or commission me would like proof of this bill, I won't be offended if it's asked for prior to commissioning from/donating to me.
I'd like to save $1000 by the end of the summer so I can have some real hope of not ending up in a shelter, but getting my phone bill out of the way first is needed to be able to even have access to the internet so I can hopefully get some real work flow happening.
If all you can do is share this journal, then please do so. Spreading the word helps so much.

Posted 6 years agohey peeps, i know it's been a while. during the past year, but most significantly in the last 6 months my father's health has been declining severely. he's been in and out of the hospital at least four times for extended stays since last fall and i've been taking on a lot of the burden with taking care of him, our home and our animals. i don't know how many of you are aware but i'm also a single mother, so i've been holding down all of this along with taking care of my son. up until now i've had some help from my father's family in regards to his costs for life and day to day needs but last month two huge bills showed up on my doorstep that needed to be paid. i had to have several medical tests done on me that my insurance didn't cover as well as court costs from when i gained custody of my son. i cannot afford to pay for these bills along with rent, bge, phone/internet and LIFE. *faceplant* so i am BEGGING for some commission work. i have several previous ychs that haven't been claimed and as stated in the title of this journal, i'm also opening up colored sketchy headshot comms for $15 each while i work on old art that has been due for some time. i've been extremely fortunate to have VERY patient commissioners with a couple of the last ychs that i owe, you guys are wonderful. and i have 1 completed piece as of right now, i'll be uploading that along with another ych i've just sketched up today. all other owed art is being worked on slowly, but it's getting done. most of these are on the lineart phase.

He WOULD get them for free, but his dad is a bag of turds and won't release him from his medical insurance because he's mad that I filed for custody. SO I have to pay out of pocket for all of my boios medical expenses.
I also have a phone bill that is overdue and a cable bill that will be due on the 7th, so I'd also like to get those paid for. e_e

My son was sick for a couple days last week and then it snowed here so kids were off of school and I cant get much work done when he is home. Over the weekend I had gotten a new bedroom set from my family for christmas, so I spent the weekend moving furniture and cleaning and subsequently pulled something in my back. e3e So I've been trying to rest. The muscle relaxers my doctor gave me make me crazy sleepy.
I'm off the big pain killer stuff now and just trying to manage with horse pill ibuprofen though cause i hate feeling like a zombie. XD I have some more cleaning to finish up with for my room to finally be back in order and once that's out of the way I will be back to work again. n3n (Either tonight or tomorrow depending on how much I can get done and how my back treats me.)

Long story short, I was suffering big time from nerve pain that made it impossible to do anything demanding with my hands for more than five minutes at a time. It took my doctor and I almost a year to figure out that it was due to certain medications mixing. It's good to be back, ya'll. ;3;

I just started my new job a couple of days ago and already have been asked to take on a couple of shifts. I want to make a good impression so I accepted. I already noted those of you that would have an extra few days added to your commission completion times but I figured it couldn't hurt to have this reminder up as well. X3

Posted 10 years agoI figured I should post some sort of update since it's been a while.
I was faced with the very real prospect of being homeless for a good minute there and it wasn't until recently that I've been able to find a solid place to stay. I won't have internet at this location until I can afford to pay for it on my own though, which may or may not be a few months at the very least. So for now I will be drawing ychs and taking commissions here and there and uploading the art whenever I get a chance to run to a friend's house with my laptop and such. It would really mean a lot to me if anyone reading this could put the word out that I very desperately would like to be commissioned. Expected turn out will be 1-2 weeks from the commission date unless you catch me on a weekend where I will be staying with someone who has the interwebs.

Posted 10 years agoHeeeey everyone. I'm alive, yaaay.
Sorry for being away for so long. A lot of things have been going on in my life and not all of them (actually none of them) are good things. Funny how that stuff kind of piles up all at once, eh? My grandfather passed away, my ex is still a tyrant and making my life as hard as he can while he still has a mediocre place in it and I am still without a job. I've been filling out applications left, right and center but it's only a matter of time until I am truly officially homeless and I'm not certain if a job would even make a difference in holding that off this late in the game. Bleh.
But I mean, whatever. I'm alive and I have wonderful friends and I need to stop bitching because I know there's a lot of people who have it worse out there so, yeah! Keeping my chin up and such.
I am in the process of finishing the last ych that I owe and once I've completed a few offline commissions and get my raffle winners their art, I will be attempting to really whore my arting abilities out to you guys.
Thanks so much to the few of you that have kept in touch and been keeping an eye on me. Your kindness goes a much longer way than I think you realize and it's taking everything in me to just accept the love for a change. I appreciate all of you. Have a great weekend, everyone. :3

Brief update~ Vacation stuff, commissions blahblahshbdj

I don't want it to end. @A@ But I also do.
I miss my kiddo and my cat and my other friends and my privacy.
But I'm not going to lie - this has been the best vacation I've ever been on.
We spent three days in Stuart, where my friend met up with one of his old buddies who had moved down here several years ago and we hung out with him for a bit. Went to the beach, started a bonfire on the beach.. which we didn't know was actually a felony until a very nice police officer informed us so. So then we left the beach. XD Got to see a killer lightning show before we were shooed off though, so that was cool. Played pool and darts at a few tiki bars, got very drunk, went to a wild life preserve - very cool three days.
Then on Monday we drove to Orlando, where we've been ever since. We rented a room in this nice lady's home via Airbnb. There's a huge pool in the backyard where I've been getting super tan at and just beyond her backyard there's a big pond where my friend and I have been fishing. We went to Gatorland, fed some alligators, played with peacocks - they just walk around there and let you pet them! We decided not to go to Universal because our budget wasn't huge to begin with and just for a one day pass to see both lands it's $150 a person.. so that bummed me out a bit but we're planning on crunching in a lot of stuff this weekend with the money we saved to make up for it.
Which leads me to commissions!
MY COMMISSIONS ARE ALWAYS OPEN, FOLKS. *COUGH, HACK, AHEM, HELPMEGETTOHARRYPOTTERWORLD*
Sooo if you want to have some art by me, just throw a note my way and we can work something out.
I still have two ychs open and I will be finishing the two I have left to do today/tonight.
I might try to get another ych in if I don't get any commissions, though. e_e

Posted 10 years agoMy best friend decided to surprise me with something huge for my birthday and also.. because he knows my life has been shitty for the last few months and we both need a fucking vacation. So he's taking me to Florida and planned out an entire bucket list for us both to do. We will be driving to Virginia to catch a 16 hour train ride down to Stuart, FL on Thursday and staying in various hotels, friends homes and other random places until September 7th. We're going to be going to Harry Potter world, swimming with manatees, watching fireworks in a Japanese garden, spending the night in an observatory, feeding alligators, taking an airboat ride, zip lining, volunteering at a sea turtle rescue and a bunch of other stuff that I can't even remember because the list is too damn long.
I really need this. I've been scared of having a mental breakdown recently and when my friend sprung this on me I actually broke down in tears and bawled my ass off for about forty-five minutes. I think some vitamin D and butterbeer is exactly what the doctor ordered.
I will be working my hardest to finish the YCHs I owe before I leave but if I can't finish them in time, I will be bringing my laptop and tablet to work on them while I'm away, so they will most definitely be done by the time I return. :3
As a side note, if there's anyone in Florida who would like to meet me or join my friend and I for one or more of the things I mentioned, please don't be afraid or too shy to say so. We're extremely friendly folk and enjoy the company of other friendly folk. ;3 We're also completely fucking insane, so you're sure to get a laugh and have a good time from us.

Posted 10 years agoMy bf got mad that I was over my friends house. So he told me not to come back. Changed the locks, canceled my phone plan (I'm on wifi), refunded my car insurance payment so I can't use my car without risking going to jail and refused to feed my cat.
My friend literally kicked down the door so I could take care of my animals, shower and grab my essentials. I cannot stay here forever and desperately need to raise some money so I can find a place. ANY donations, no matter HOW small are GREATLY appreciated.
